[Bug 954368] Re: Upstart script puppet agent
Hi James, Thanks for your feedback! 1) The upstart script has been extended with daemon checks, checks on the defaults file flags and also give error outputs. I added the puppet.conf upstart script as attachment. 2) Since mongrel support will be deleted from debian (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=663921) im assuming that ubuntu 12.10 wont have mongrel support either. This would mean that the puppetmaster upstart script wont need to support the mongrel backend and only standard webrick. See attachment puppetmaster.conf 3) Also added the puppetqd upstart script as attachment in puppetqd.conf. 4) It would be nice to have an upstart script for puppetmaster-passenger too. But i think this would be the apache2 upstart script. Is there any eta on the apache2 upstart script, or if someone is working on that already? ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #663921 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=663921 ** Attachment added: puppet.conf https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/q-series/+source/puppet/+bug/954368/+attachment/2909098/+files/puppet.conf -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to puppet in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/954368 Title: Upstart script puppet agent To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/puppet/+bug/954368/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 948993] Re: [FFe] [MIR] rabbitmq-stomp, rabbitmq-erlang-client
Having followed the testing that has gone into this package... It's been part of the openstack QA lab for quite a while, and validated by at least one other upstream (not cloud).. I'm happy with this. The main feature, is the universe packages mentioned are now part of upstream. Therefore this source package contains them. The binaries are not yet seeded, so from a distro standpoint, nothing changes.. except building from a federated source package, rather than 3 packages - where two are not official. This makes perfect sense, thanks for the significant testing. FFe ACK. ** Changed in: rabbitmq-server (Ubuntu Precise) Status: Confirmed = In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to rabbitmq-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/948993 Title: [FFe] [MIR] rabbitmq-stomp, rabbitmq-erlang-client To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rabbitmq-erlang-client/+bug/948993/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 961142] [NEW] chef 0.10: package installation: returned 100, expected 0
Public bug reported: I'm trying to prepare nodes with cloud-init and chef 0.10 on Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot) (amazon) instances. On simple package installation via chef recipe, e.g: package munin-node I'm running into a apt-get error: apt-get -q -y install munin-node=1.4.5-3ubuntu4 returned 100, expected 0 error. Which can be traced back to 'Bad file descriptor' error, from man-db. Same installation works fine without problems, when running chef without cloud-init. I could trace this error back to some env variables, which are still set while chef starts to run it's scripts. Unsetting these variables in the chef recipe solves the problem: ENV['DEBCONF_REDIR'] = ENV['DEBIAN_HAS_FRONTEND'] = package munin-node Does these variables still needs to be set, while executing the chef client? [Bug 961240] [NEW] cloud-init does not run grub on PV Xen and KVM has issues
Public bug reported: On paravirtualised Xen, cloud-init will not rerun grub. KVM may also have issues. The problem is at: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~cloud-init-dev/cloud-init/trunk/view/head:/cloudinit/CloudConfig/cc_grub_dpkg.py line 47. The 'if' condition at line 36 handles the case where a block major device is presented as /dev/sda1 (or /dev/xvda1), which it detects by the absence of /dev/sda or /dev/xvda (as appropriate). This takes into account the odd EC2 way of doing things. The else condition at line 42 is run in a non-EC2 mode, where either the block major itself is a filing system, or the block major contains a partition table. The for loop at line 47 then runs through 'all' the first block minor devices (i.e. first partitions), then (if it fails to find any) the block majors. The first issue is that running on Xen on HVM with PV drivers, the emulated device is PCI unplugged early in the boot sequence, so there is no /dev/sda or /dev/sda1, just /dev/xvda and /dev/xvda1. Line 47 will thus not pick this up. /dev/xvda and /dev/xvda1 should thus be added to this line. The second issue is that I /think/ /dev/vda should be listed before /dev/sda, and /dev/vda1 before /dev/sda1. This is because running on kvm, both devices will appear under some circumstances (e.g. where the cloud provider cannot determine whether the OS has PV drivers or not so provides both emulated and PV drevice), and I think it's desirable that grub thinks it is installing on the virtual device /dev/vda1. IE I think the line should be: for dev in (/dev/xvda, /dev/vda, /dev/sda, /dev/xvda1, /dev/vda1, /dev/sda1): Complete untested patch attached. ** Affects: cloud-init (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cloud-init in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/961240 Title: cloud-init does not run grub on PV Xen and KVM has issues To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/961240/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 961240] Re: cloud-init does not run grub on PV Xen and KVM has issues
I think some things might be good to write down here. * the reason for checking of /dev/sda1 and /dev/sda (and xvda1 and xvda) is that on EC2 these devices do not both exist. Ie, the root device is actually a block device (not a partition) but is named xvda1 or svda1 * the purpose of this code is to tell grub where to install (otherwise, on upgrade of grub, it would complain that the last time it ran it installed to a device that is now not present, and bother the user). * if this fails, the result is not failure to boot, but rather a prompt on grub upgrade. First issue: * I think you're right that xvda and xvda1 should be added there. Second issue: * I think that this doesn't matter. grub will just check/insist that the devices it thinks should be installed to are there. More testing is needed here, the grub code is complex, and I'm weary of changing this because i haven't actually seen or reproduced an issue, and my mind is fuzzy. for reference: bug 623609 bug 752361 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cloud-init in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/961240 Title: cloud-init does not run grub on PV Xen and KVM has issues To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/961240/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 961226] Re: cloud-init should run resize2fs in the background
I've decided to turn this into a config option and leave it off by default (block on resize2fs). this is pretty much worst possible scenario for io * on disk file was stored as 1.4G ish (possibly larger, but sparse) * hypervisor grows it to some larger size (10 or 20G or something) but probably leaves it sparse. * initramfs grew the partition table on the disk * resize2fs is run, which does loads of reads and writes * at the same time the system is under intense IO to boot itself. The end result is that it changes people's expectation and possibly doesn't save much (my very small number of non-scientific tests showed small savings at best). But clearly, if you were resizing to 100G, that might take 5 minutes, and you might be able to finish boot and use the system during 4 of that 5. So, I've just committed a change to allow this to be set by a user by setting cloud-config 'resize_rootfs' to a value of 'noblock'. ** Changed in: cloud-init Status: New = Fix Committed ** Changed in: cloud-init Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: cloud-init (Ubuntu) Status: New = Triaged ** Changed in: cloud-init (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cloud-init in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/961226 Title: cloud-init should run resize2fs in the background To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/cloud-init/+bug/961226/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 600219] Re: faxgetty segfault
Adding my two cents. As yaztromo says, segfaults seem to be more likely when the fax is originating from a particular sender. However, for me, when the problem sender would try to re-send the same fax, it could segfault in a different place each time. This would suggest that it is nothing in the data stream itself that triggers the error, but something in the control signals being exchanged perhaps? The people in the sending office told me that they have a lot of problems with that machine (a Konica/Minolta 2900), but I don't know exactly what that means. What office worker doesn't like to complain about their equipment? I looked up the brochure for the 2900, and it looks like a quality device, and not that old. Perhaps the control/status signals are causing an unexpected condition, or triggering the execution of badly-optimized code that clobbers the this pointer? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/600219 Title: faxgetty segfault To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hylafax/+bug/600219/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 925895] Re: Ambiance sub-menus light like Radiance after latest light-themes update.
//technically is not possible to understand which color the menu belongs to...// ok, to default to a light menu rather than a dark menu is *therefore* (because there's no way of knowing whether the menu is coming from a light or dark element) completely arbitrary and capricious. I mean, I get the sense that minds are made up. I don't like it. It looks bad (to me), but so be it. [Bug 902687] Re: compiz crashed with SIGABRT in __kernel_vsyscall()
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running apport-collect bug # and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue. ** Package changed: compiz (Ubuntu) = linux (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/902687 Title: compiz crashed with SIGABRT in __kernel_vsyscall() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/902687/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 882147] Re: overlayfs does not implement inotify interfaces correctly
Colin, This is the second time I've replied to this, so I'll be brief. A filesystem can implement inotify most of the time, while still being unable to implement it all of the time. A good example is a filesystem where inotify is disabled, or unable to be implemented, when flock is in use. Applications should be able to handle this situation effectively. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/882147 Title: overlayfs does not implement inotify interfaces correctly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/882147/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
