[Bug 847305] Re: Kernel Oops - BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at 0000000000000018; RIP: 0010:[] [] nameidata_to_filp+0x3a/0x80
Nuno Sucena Almeida, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. ** Summary changed: - kernel panic (unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference) + Kernel Oops - BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at 0018; RIP: 0010:[] [] nameidata_to_filp+0x3a/0x80 ** Tags added: kernel-oops needs-upstream-testings ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/847305 Title: Kernel Oops - BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at 0018; RIP: 0010:[] [] nameidata_to_filp+0x3a/0x80 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/847305/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 787577] Re: Poor power management in Natty kernel
Paul J. Adams, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? As per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/PowerManagementASPM a patch has been issued to address poor power management. Could you please try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? [Bug 963700] [NEW] unity 5.8 fails to load upon login
Public bug reported: When trying to log in after the update to unity 5.8, the system locks up either on the login screen, or just shows the wallpaper without the panel or launcher. Jesper Morsing, thank you for reporting this bug and helping make Ubuntu better. This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? As per http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&DocID=HT072385 your BIOS is fully updated. Hence this could be a mistake of the code check for your model. However, it would be nice to know if this oops is reproducible in updated kernels. Could you please try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . [Bug 952574] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 beta 1 won't boot off USB key with NVidia GTX 560
Still haven't got this working but here is some more information I've discovered. GeForce GTX 560 code name = NVCE (GF114) NVC0 family: These cards are generally working with the latest kernel and Mesa but may still have power management issues. It is recommended to use the Linux 3.1 kernel or newer (or a backported driver from this kernel). NVC0 is supposed to be currently working with nouveau drivers. (http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/FeatureMatrix) It seems that a firmware file (?) might be required but from Linux 3.1 onwards it can be generated automatically. http://www.h-online.com/open/features/What-s-new-in-Linux-3-1-1347364.html -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/952574 Title: Ubuntu 12.04 beta 1 won't boot off USB key with NVidia GTX 560 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-nouveau/+bug/952574/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 621353] Re: Kernel Oops - BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at (null); RIP: 0010:[] [] strchr+0x0/0x30
Dave Gilbert, thank you for reporting this bug and helping make Ubuntu better. ** Summary changed: - [243976.051027] BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at (null) + Kernel Oops - BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at (null); RIP: 0010:[] [] strchr+0x0/0x30 ** Tags added: needs-upstream-testing ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/621353 Title: Kernel Oops - BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at (null); RIP: 0010:[] [] strchr+0x0/0x30 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/621353/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
