[Bug 982534] Re: Please remove wesnoth-1.8 from precise

2012-04-16 Thread Gerfried Fuchs
One reason is that people can finish their campaigns that they started
in 1.8 before they do the upgrade to 1.10 - but still can upgrade their
ubuntu system without troubles. Also, the 1.8 stable tree is still
supported upstream, some people are still playing it, and it is not
possible to play multiplayer games with different stable versions, so
having only 1.10 in precise would force others to upgrade too, to
continue to be able to play with you.

Personally, I am fine with either: precise will be a LTS release, and
1.8 will probably be phased out upstream before precise reaches end of
life. I'm fine with whatever gets decided here. I am uncertain myself,
otherwise I would have done the decision already. :)

So long,
Rhonda

[Bug 982478] Re: New USB webcam device id to be listed in gspca pac7302

2012-04-16 Thread Brad Figg
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report on this issue.

However, given the number of bugs that the Kernel Team receives during
any development cycle it is impossible for us to review them all.
Therefore, we occasionally resort to using automated bots to request
further testing. This is such a request.

We have noted that there is a newer version of the development kernel
than the one you last tested when this issue was found. Please test
again with the newer kernel and indicate in the bug if this issue still
exists or not.

You can update to the latest development kernel by simply running the
following commands in a terminal window:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

If the bug still exists, change the bug status from Incomplete to
Confirmed. If the bug no longer exists, change the bug status from
Incomplete to Fix Released.

If you want this bot to quit automatically requesting kernel tests, add
a tag named: bot-stop-nagging.

Thank you for your help, we really do appreciate it.

2012-04-16 Thread Muhammad Aamir Ullah Khan
So many bugs,From 11.10 i upgraded to 12.04,11.10 worked seamlessly and
never troubled me but i don't why 12.04 always shows error codes ubuntu
found some errors or 12.04 ubuntu system files have error,or sudden
freezes softwares crashing, every day i have to send some 4-5 times of
crash reports. I know its still beta version but hey its almost 12 days
for the complete release and this package of ubuntu is LTS package and
honestly its not delivering the goods.I thought it would be different
and faster then the older version, their's nothing new though except some
or very few changes.I update daily but still problem persists.I hope
ubuntu figures it out quickly coz they normally do they are 1 of the
best in that. And i would also request to the ubuntu developers to
release some more themes for desktop.

[Bug 982890] [NEW] Constant Audio Hiss - driving me out of my mind

2012-04-16 Thread Ant
Public bug reported:

I just upgraded Unbutu from 10.1 (i think this is correct) to 10.4 to
11.10. My audio has been working for years. However after upgrading to
11.10 I get a constant hiss out of the speakers. I tried everything I
can think of short of a fresh install. There seems to be a number of
people with the same problem. If is all it would take to fix this is a
new card I would do that but I dont know of a really compatiable sound
card.

apt-cache policy pkgname - N: Unable to locate package pkgname

My system is uses GeForce 9400 GT/PCIe/SSE2 and onboard audio.

aplay --list-devices
 List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: ALC662 rev1 Analog [ALC662 rev1 Analog]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 1: ALC662 rev1 Digital [ALC662 rev1 Digital]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Why aplay --list-devices gives two identical results is puzzling to me.

Another strange thing that I found is alsamixer comes up for the most
part garbled. I can email someone a screen shot if they like. What I can
see from the the top of the AlsaMixer screen (coppied from the
terminal):

AlsaMixer v1.0.24.2 q Card: HDA Intel F1: Help Chip: Realtek
ALC662 rev1 F2: System information View: F3:[Playback] F4: Capture
F5: All F6: Select sound card Item: Master [dB gain: -15.00]

Im sure that somewhere along the line it must be my fault but I dont
know what else to do. The hiss is almost like listening to someone
scratching a chalkboard; at least I can trun on the mute and it stops.
The sound is present no matter what sould level I change it to. Another
strange effect is that when I do adjust the sound level it goes through
a series of up and down pitches. I can still hear audio play but it is
overlayed by the hiss. I also tried moving my cables around (testing for
interference) and tried diffrent headphones but they all produce the
same effect.

So please let me know what other information you might need. Thanks for
all your hard work!

[Bug 982889] [NEW] xorg fails to start after boot on core i5

2012-04-16 Thread Tomas Vanderka
Public bug reported:

X server fails to start the first time after boot, it works fine when I

[Bug 971972] Re: Typo in manpage - no ending parentheses

2012-04-16 Thread Martin Pitt
Thanks for this! I forwarded your patch to Debian, so that we do not
need to introduce a delta over debian over a minor issue like this. We
are also already in final freeze and shoudl limit upload to important
bug fixes. We will get the fix through the next Debian upload thhen.

[Bug 916568] Re: Multiple focus problems on first connexion

2012-04-16 Thread Julien
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected precise ubuntu

** Description changed:

  Hello,

[EDIT] Unlike what I thought, the problem is probably not related to
compiz: I get the same type of problem under Unity2D[/EDIT] [EDIT] and
  gnome-shell[/EDIT] [EDIT2] and openbox too... [/EDIT2]

The bug appears in my 11.10 system with the last update of compiz (i.e.
01-05-2012).
At the first connection after the boot, I face many problems with the focus
on the interface: I can generally use the Unity-dash to launch an application
(sometimes two) but then the dash no longer appears correctly, the indicators
either, I can not focus from one window to another ... However, I noticed that
the keyboard shortcuts usually work.
So I find myself stuck. The only workaround I've found is to launch a
system-Alt-k and then reconnect. Here the problem doesn't reproduce until next
boot.

I made a video showing the expected behavior (after reconnection) and the
behavior that I get on startup: http://ubuntuone.com/5tD98knn0gNXPofcknz285
The audio comment is in French, but I was unable to do this in English ...

- I hope this report will be useful ... If information is needed about my
- configuration, I can complete it later.

What's going on? Ubuntu should have a better page at

Unable to identify application

The information provided by the remote application was incorrect or
incomplete. Because of that we were unable to identify the application
which would access Launchpad on your behalf.

I will try again wit different package name (pm-utils or gnome-power-

** Package changed: pm-utils-powersave-policy (Ubuntu) = pm-utils
(Ubuntu)

** Tags added: apport-collected oneiric

** Description changed:

  Hi
I found my system ubuntu won't never go to sleep when I close the lid.
I checked the state file is always filled with closed even when I mimic a
lid close with a small magnet instead of the true lid: the backlight goes off,
but the computer won't go to sleep.
It is easy to reproduce and check: in a terminal I send
  cat /proc/acpi/button/lid/*/state
  closed
when lid is opened and no magnet present
Then I prepare again the command in the terminal (I don't hit enter at this
moment)
I place the magnet to mimic lid close, wait some minutes to give time for pc
to sleep (it won't, I know it because the sleep led won't blink light)
  then I hit Enter
then I remove the magnet and (no password prompt) see the command returned
... closed :(
Tryied with 3.0.0.26, 3.2rc4 and 3.3.0.999, all the same.
Suspend with Fn+F1 and idle tempo work OK.
Lid close works in the side double boot Windows

[Bug 982179] Re: /proc/acpi/button/lid/*/state always says closed

2012-04-16 Thread Bib
apport information

** Package changed: pm-utils (Ubuntu) = gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu)

2012-04-16 Thread Marius Kotsbak
I guess it is just a new system that automatically wants you to report
bugs at each crash, whereas before the crash would just happen silently.
This is good if more bugs get caught, but the number of bugs causing
this should be low before the official release.

Also there is an option for this function to be silent for new bugs in
the same package version of an application, but it seems not to apply to
system crashes.

[Bug 982904] [NEW] dia-gnome not installable via Softwarecenter

2012-04-16 Thread Sven Romeike
Public bug reported:

When i try to install dia-gnome via softwarecenter it does not work at all
and shows a weird package name
dia-gnome-gnome-gnome-gnome-.

to reproduce:

1) open software-center
2) search for dia-gnome
3) click on additional information (maybe not the exact translation. I'm
using the german version button which is labeled Weitere Informationen

expected result:
after the search for dia-gnome the result should appear and after selecting it
a install button should appear. when you click additional Information
(Weitere Informationen in my case) a detailed package information should show
up.

actual result:
after searching dia-gnome no button shows up when the result is selected. when
clicking the button for the detailed page the software-center shows a weird
package name dia-gnome with -gnome attached multiple times.
