[Bug 1009855] [NEW] Linksys WMP600n stop working in a few minutes

2012-06-06 Thread Krisztian Tekler
Public bug reported:

I have a linksys WMP600N PCI WIFI card. With Ubuntu 11.10 it worked fine. After
updating my system via dis-upgrade, i have realized that, it stop working in a
short time.
It is done in the middle of a download for example, which drive me mad :(
Im using network manager, and if i disable/reenable it is working again for a
short time.

Ive also tried with mainline kernel - 3.4.0 RC6 (in this bug report i
use the normal one.)

Regards,
Krisztian

[Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.

2012-06-06 Thread Andrzej
Not sure if that's a related problem (can't really afford reading all
276 comments).

My Ubuntu 12.04 also freezes (completely, the cursor doesn't move). It
only happens when running the system on battery. Always within several
minutes from booting/switching of the AC adapter. On AC, it works just
fine for days, without any freezes.

My config: Sony F-series laptop, i5 CPU, Nvidia graphics + Nouveau
drivers. Xfce 4.10 desktop. System upgraded from 11.04 and 11.10 (I
started seeing these freezes a couple of months ago, whilst still on
11.10).

Hi Charlie,

I could update the PPA packaging. But it's been a while since I looked

debian/ubuntu policy have been made since then. Can you provide some
details on what should be changed in the package?

Thanks,

[Bug 1009699] Re: AssertionError after changing computer name

2012-06-06 Thread Roman Yepishev
The assertion fails in the credentials code which tries to find the token in
the keyring with a token-name "Ubuntu One @ $hostname".
Upon renaming the machine, please open seahorse (Passwords & Encryption Keys)
and remove "Ubuntu One" entry.

Starting control panel or syncdaemon will cause Ubuntu SSO client to
initiate new registration procedure.

[Bug 952744] Re: gcalctool crashed with signal 5 in g_simple_async_result_complete() (corrupted ecb datas on download issues?)

2012-06-06 Thread Steve McGrath
This happened to me when switching quickly to the 'Financial' mode and
then to the 'Basic' mode. I haven't looked into it further, but my gut
instinct is that I switched away from financial mode before the initial
currency information download was finished, and something reacted poorly
to the resulting callback.

[Bug 995523] Re: squid3 is killed by /etc/resolvconf/update-libc.d/squid3 in Precise

2012-06-06 Thread D J Gardner
I've just had a very brief look at the code... I didn't see any reason why the
HUP handling should be delayed (all the handler does is set a variable), so
I've moved it earlier in the code. Patch attached.
Wiser heads than mine might want to check that I've put it in a sane place
(i.e. is there any reason it should be after the setEffectiveUser() call?)

** Patch added: "Catch HUP earilier in initialisation"

[Bug 1009850] [NEW] Packet updater cannot continue

2012-06-06 Thread Hans Unland
Public bug reported:

Hallo,

My Ubuntu is of version 12.04 LTS. While automatic update it reports the
following:

"Paketinformationen konnten nicht initialisiert werden

Ein unlösbares Problem ist während der Initialisierung der
Paketinformation aufgetreten.

Bitte melden Sie einen Fehler im Paket »update-manager« und fügen Sie
die folgende Fehlermeldung an den Fehlerbericht an:

'E:Encountered a section with no Package: header, E:Problem with
MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/de.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_precise-
updates_restricted_i18n_Translation-de%5fDE, E:Die Paketliste oder die
Statusdatei konnte nicht eingelesen oder geöffnet werden.'"

This means that my update-manager doesn't work anymore. What can I do?

Kind regards
Hans

[Bug 989347] Re: [BUG: ../../dix/getevents.c:850 in scale_to_desktop()] black screen if second monitor is connected in HDMI.

2012-06-06 Thread Andrzej
Same here, nvidia card+nouveau driver.

I can reproduce the error with:

xrandr --output VGA-1 --above LVDS-1
most other xrandr commands work.
(I have HDMI port here but it is not used at the moment, only laptop screen +
external VGA)

xrandr hangs, I can still ssh into the machine. I'm using Xfce 4.10.

I remember spuriously seeing similar behavior (black screen) in Ubuntu
11.10 but it was going away after reboot. So far, in 12.04 it happens
consistently.

[Bug 1009835] [NEW] Right mouse button no longer works in Firefox. Still works elsewhere.

2012-06-06 Thread Marianne Wade
Public bug reported:

What I expected to happen:
Today I installed all the suggested and recommended updates for Ubuntu, as I
always do when updates pop up. After the updates, while still logged into
Firefox, my right mouse button worked fine! But I did get the notice on each
open Firefox tab that my browser needed to be restarted to complet updates. So
I closed out of Firefox. When I reopened it, I went about my usual activities
expecting full function of mouse and keyboard in Firefox as I have always
enjoyed.

What did happen:
First activity after opening Firefox was to check email. I logged into Google.
On my first 'reply' email, I went to "Select All" which is usually available on
a drop-down menu I receive when right clicking within the field. This time no
menu. I instead highlited the entire text myself then used the keyboard to
delete it. Similarly, when I wanted to copy text and use on Facebook, I had to
highlight it on one tab holding down left mouse and using Ctrl+C, then pasted
it into Facebook using Ctrl+V. When I wanted to save a pic to my harddrive, I
again went to right click to first isolate the image on its own but again, no
drop-down menu when I right clicked. I tried looking on forums about right
mouse not working on updated Firefox and found only older posts that didn't
apply. I've logged on and off Firefox a few times and problem still exists.

[Bug 967162] Re: [SRU]Incorrect binary location in 1.5.3-1

2012-06-06 Thread Vibhav Pant
** Description changed:

  [Impact]
- High, Because users expect these tools to be in their default
- $PATH, and scripts/cron jobs/etc using them will break after upgrading
- from 1.5.2 to 1.5.3.
+ Low, Since it is easily worked around by creating symlinks or updating $PATH

  [Test Case]
  Install postgis from oneiric
Notice the location of the binaries in /usr/bin/

  [Development Fix]

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?msg=25;filename=postgis.648176.path.patch;att=1;bug=648176

  [Stable Fix]
  Same as Development Fix

  [Regression Potential]
Low, Since it only changes the location of the binaries

  [Original Report]
  See http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=648176 for more details.

1.5.3-2 has been released for precise, but obviously this bug still
exists in the 1.5.3-1 in ocelot. Can the fix be applied to 11.10 ocelot
  too please?

  The fix summary is:
    * Moved pgsql2shp/shp2pgsql under conventional /usr/bin path.
  (closes: #648176)

[Bug 197957] Re: Include a libasound2-plugins-extra package for a52, maemo

2012-06-06 Thread Kip Warner
Mike,

ac3_fixed is just the fixed point implementation within libavcodec.
'avconv -formats E' will show the list of current codecs with encoder
support. You'll see it is there, but I am guessing this is accidental
since it is being built implicitly based on the parameters to configure
in debian/confflags in the debianized libav source package. If you look
carefully through it, you'll see that other non-free formats are
explicitly disabled. So what probably happened is whoever wrote the
confflags for debian/rules probably forgot to handle the situation for
ac3 when the package was refactored since it wasn't enabled last I
checked.

By the way, AC-3 = A52 = DD.

[Bug 1009816] Re: Firefox comes to front when opening link via external program.

2012-06-06 Thread lnxusr
@Evan,

What I'm saying is I want Firefox to act like it did before the upgrade
in regards to focus policy.

The way it was before is that Firefox would only come to the front if
there were not already and instance running. People often will go
through their emails and/or RSS feeds clicking links, but not wish to go
see or go to them until they are finished with all the emails/feeds.

Firefox 13 should, as it did before, remain in the background when it
opens a new tab if that is my wish. Firefox needs honor the users
settings/wishes as far as focus goes.

I tested this on my laptop, which still had FF
12.0+build1-0ubuntu0.12.04.1. I upgraded Firefox and only Firefox.
Before the upgrade, Firefox remained in the background when I clicked on
a link from an email. After the upgrade, Firefox no longer remained in
the background when I clicked on a link from an email.

A major operational feature is no longer performing the way it did prior
to the upgrade. This is a bug, not a feature request.

[Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.

2012-06-06 Thread Steve Riley
There are muliple RC6 modes. From "modinfo i915":

+
| parm: i915_enable_rc6:Enable power-saving render C-state 6.
Different stages
| can be selected via bitmask values (0 = disable; 1 = enable rc6; 2 = enable
deep rc6;
| 4 = enable deepest rc6). For example, 3 would enable rc6 and deep rc6, and 7
would
| enable everything. default: -1 (use per-chip default) (int)
+

Your log shows:

+
| [drm:intel_enable_rc6], Sandybridge: deep RC6 disabled
| [drm] Enabling RC6 states: RC6 on, RC6p off, RC6pp off
+

The kernel is automatically enabling the basic RC6 mode ("RC6 on") but
not the deep or deepest modes ("RC6p off, RC6pp off"). My suggested boot
parameter will override this, and disable all RC6 modes.

[Bug 967162] Re: [SRU]Incorrect binary location in 1.5.3-1

2012-06-06 Thread Vibhav Pant
** Changed in: postgis (Ubuntu Oneiric)
Assignee: (unassigned) => Vibhav Pant (vibhavp)

** Changed in: postgis (Ubuntu Oneiric)
   Status: New => Confirmed

** Description changed:

  [Impact]
High, Because users expect these tools to be in their default
$PATH, and scripts/cron jobs/etc using them will break after upgrading
  from 1.5.2 to 1.5.3.
+
  [Test Case]
  Install postgis from oneiric
Notice the location of the binaries in /usr/bin/
+
  [Development Fix]

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?msg=25;filename=postgis.648176.path.patch;att=1;bug=648176
+
  [Stable Fix]
  Same as Development Fix
+
  [Regression Potential]
Low, Since it only changes the location of the binaries

- See http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=648176 for more
- details.
+ [Original Report]
+ See http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=648176 for more details.

1.5.3-2 has been released for precise, but obviously this bug still
exists in the 1.5.3-1 in ocelot. Can the fix be applied to 11.10 ocelot
  too please?

  The fix summary is:
    * Moved pgsql2shp/shp2pgsql under conventional /usr/bin path.
  (closes: #648176)
