[Bug 1027355] [NEW] Ubuntu CLIPS 6.24 Doesn't Support fact-set Queries
Public bug reported: Release: 12.04 Package: clips 6.24-3ubuntu1 The current version of CLIPS available from the Pangolin 12.04 repos reports itself as being v6.24 yet does not support the fact-set queries (e.g. do-for-all-facts) that were introduced in version 6.23. This is due to the file 'setup.h' being an older version (v6.21) and not containing the definition 'FACT_SET_QUERIES 1'. Replacing this file with the one currently available from sourceforge should fix this issue. The Ubuntu source appears to have come out of sync with the sourceforge sources as the code required to support fact-set queries ('factqury.c') is indeed present in the source tree but the use of an older setup.h file means that it's not compiled into the CLIPS binary. This is a duplicate of Debian bug 508946 (reported by Javier S. Pedro Dec 2008) http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=508946 I would be happy to test / help out further with this issue. best regards jim ** Affects: clips (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1027355 Title: Ubuntu CLIPS 6.24 Doesn't Support fact-set Queries To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/clips/+bug/1027355/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I removed my comment, because I found out that there was a mistake in my Kerberos config. I couldn't figure it out because the ping doesn't work in my case because the companies firewall doesn't allow it. Its better to use something like traceroute in this case. The diff from the dmesg before and after the keyboard and mouse stop responding is the same -- typically nothing shows up in the message log though every once in a while you can see an error like the ones I mention in the original report. This is an example: psmouse serio1: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost synchronization, throwing 1 byte away atkbd serio0: Spurious ACK on isa0060/serio0. Some program might be trying access hardware directly. But they don't always show -- usually there is no log activity. [Bug 1027346] [NEW] mdadm race condition causes drop to busybox prompt
Public bug reported: Description:Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Release:12.04 There seems to be a race condition with mdadm in initramfs-tools. When my server boots, I get a "Dropping to shell." message and a busybox prompt, but no explanation whatsoever for why that happened. The local-premount/mdadm script does the following: degraded_arrays || exit 0 mountroot_fail || panic "Dropping to a shell." degraded_arrays calls mdadm and checks its exit code. mountroot_fails also calls degraded_arrays, which calls mdadm again. By changing the degraded_arrays function to echo the exit code from mdadm, I determined that on my server, the first call to mdadm from degraded_arrays returned 4, but the second call from mountroot_fail returned 0. mountroot_fail uses its call to determine whether to output a message about why the user is being dropped into a shell and whether to try to boot in degraded mode. If it's called, but mdadm returns 0, mountroot_fail always exits with an error but no explanation. It seems very likely that this is a race condition since the two calls to mdadm, which are _very_ close together return different values, with no intervening work having been done by initramfs-tools. I have corrected this locally by adding a local-top/ script that invokes "wait_for_udev 10". It seems like there are two issues that should be corrected: 1) The mdadm/udev race condition -- initramfs-tools should have a more solid method of being sure that all the mdadm work is done before it checks if the array is degraded. 2) The lack of explanation for being dropped at a busybox prompt. The code path that checks for a degraded array, checks again, and drops the user at a prompt with no explanation if the values are _different_ makes little sense. ** Affects: mdadm Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: initramfs-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: mdadm Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1027346 Title: mdadm race condition causes drop to busybox prompt To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mdadm/+bug/1027346/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 594674] Re: Trash is not shown on --bind mounted filesystems
A file in one partition, wherever mounted, cannot be "moved" to any location in another partition, as to place it on a different physical device or a partition of one means copying the file to that location, then deleting it from the original, not just attacking a new path to an existing physical location. If "trash" is a directory in any location, files can only be moved to and from it on the same device or partition as a direct result of this limitation. A fix for this would require code in a trash manager to copy to trash anything from a different device, deleting it on that device, then copy back to that device and delete from the trash to restore it. This is how "one trash can, many devices" would have to work. Needless to say, trashing any large file would require waiting for copying to complete, as would restoring it. Much of that and many users, especially on slow machines, may prefer separate trash cans for each device. Consider this result of using such code as proof of what I have just said: : Two empty devices, a file on one, trash on the other. If you could "move" the file to the trash on the other device, then empty trash, a file recovery utility would find TWO copies of the file, one on each device. Since partitions are effectively physical devices as well, that also applies to bind mounts from other partitions. I don't use the trash at all, instead creating a "secure trash" directory on each magnetic disk that is empted using nautilus-wipe, which does not work from the trash can. Flash drives are worse: they require normal deletion (can use trash) but have to be filled usinng dd to overwrite old files-still won't get everything if a block picks that moment to die and go read-only! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/594674 Title: Trash is not shown on --bind mounted filesystems To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/glib/+bug/594674/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
