[Bug 1025638] Re: frequent disconnects

2012-08-03 Thread Rolf Leggewie
Christopher, may I kindly suggest you speak for yourself? Furthermore,
where exactly is the CoC-violation in comment 26? You are throwing
around a bunch of stuff without merit, I'd say.

The link you gave says "Bugs which are not legitimate bugs are set to
Invalid. This can include bugs which failed to provide requested debug
information or bugs which are the result of user error." You are
requesting an ever increasing amount information that is by now simply
IMPOSSIBLE to provide. You are not seriously requesting for me to
contact the airport and ask them for what model of AP they deployed or
else you will not act on this ticket? What if they have more than one
AP, will I need to find out which particular brand I had connected to?
Last time I heard, it was that 802.11x was a standard. I think for now
it's safe to assume that the AP is following the standard. HKG is a
busy and well-maintained airport, I'm sure that if there was a genuine
problem with their setup, they would hear about it and fix it. But not
only that, you will not do anything unless I can prove this is a
regression? How am I supposed to know? It's the first time I ran into
this issue and I reported it the first time I came across it. Do you
want me to test every kernel that was ever released? I guess that's the
next step, hm?

You might not like to hear this but you are being ridiculous with your
requests. Is this the new kernel bug triaging team policy, to request
an ever increasing amount of information so that you can happily close
the ticket as invalid when it's not provided? I already provided a bunch
of unnecessary information and pointed out the violation of the
principle of "Datensparsamkeit".

I understand and agree that it would be nice to see if the problem does
occur in mainline as well, but at the moment it's impossible to verify
that. That doesn't make this ticket invalid. In fact, the link you
provided, explicitly states 'If a bug is in a Confirmed state but has
not yet tested the upstream mainline kernel, tag the bug "needs-
upstream-testing". If a bug has been tested with the upstream kernel,
move the bug to a "Triaged" state."' So, confirmed is the proper state
of this ticket, the tag is already there. I'm quoting officially
published rules, you seem to make up your own along the way, handing out
links that do not support or in fact often even contradict your
arguments.

I might go to HKG again next month or at the end of October or both. If
I do, I will be sure to test mainline. If there is any other tests you
expect, let me know ahead of time. I suggest you close this ticket as
invalid no earlier than in 120 days as seems to be kernel team
expiration policy for "information requested" bugs. I won't object to
setting this ticket to "incomplete" if that made you happier.

[Bug 831768] [PATCH] aptitude: resolver always removes foreign-arch packages

2012-08-03 Thread Daniel Hartwig
Attached patch updates the problem resolver to better handle
multi-arch situations so that it no longer gets stuck trying to remove
all foreign-arch packages.

Affected users and interested persons should perform testing and
review on this. The changes are relatively small but there is room
for regressions in complex dependency situations.

The patch has been developed and tested with aptitude 0.6.8.

If this works or does not work for you please comment, particularly if
you experience regressions.

[Bug 1030292] Re: initramfs does not boot with mdadm (3.2.5-1ubuntu0.1)

2012-08-03 Thread Steve Langasek
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+ This is an SRU regression confined to precise-proposed. Reverting part of
the upstream changes is sufficient to resolve this for precise. The issue
remains unfixed in quantal; this is not a blocker for the SRU.
+
+ [Test case]
+ Verify that the submitter's machine boots successfully with the latest mdadm
installed.
+
+ [Regression potential]
+ Since the existing mdadm in precise does not do auto-assembly of imsm or ddf
arrays using udev rules, the risk of regression by continuing to not assemble
them is minimal. Only risk of regression is a mis-edit causing some other
array, previously handled correctly in precise, to no longer be assembled; the
risk of this is very small.
+
After upgrading to the mdadm in precise-proposed, all newly created
initrds do not boot. I'm using a pseudo raid with to harddisks on a Sony
Vaio Z. Raid level is 0. I have one unencrypted boot partition and an
  encrypted root.

During startup the system asks for the password to decrypt the root
partition as usual but fails to mount the partition afterwards. I always
get the message that there are one or more degraded partitions. However,
with an older version of mdadm everything works perfectly.

My current solution: Downgrade to latest stable mdadm (precise).

Please let me know what additional information is required. I can also
perform some tests as long as my (prodcutive) system is not in danger.

Attached is a debdiff for quantal to address this issue plus the two
recent security updates fixed in the upstream IcedTea-Web 1.2.1 release

[Bug 1028865] Re: Text is pixelated when printing

2012-08-03 Thread Romeo Dragnea
Thank you!
I tried with 360X360 and it is printing in the same way, text is pixaleted.
Tried with 720X360 now the font is distorted, big and pixelated.

[Bug 842683] Re: Dash does not maximize using keyboard shortcuts

2012-08-03 Thread Owais Lone
@Kim,

Compiz has shortcuts for maximize, restore and toggle between these two
states. My solution that dash should just use whatever shortcuts we set
in compiz.

@Bilal,
Doesn't matter what they are bound to perform an action. Dash still does not
respond to them.

strange that it was not present in Kernel version linux-

[Bug 926433] Re: indicator-weather refuses to start, saying "Another instance of this program is already running" when that is not true.

2012-08-03 Thread Neal McBurnett
It seems that this bug has been fixed:

$ killall -i -9 indicator-weather
Signal indicator-weath(2503) ? (y/N) y

$ cat /tmp/indicator-weather-1000.pid
2503

$ indicator-weather
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/gobject/constants.py:24: Warning:
g_boxed_type_register_static: assertion `g_type_from_name (name) == 0' failed
  import gobject._gobject

So there is still a complaint, but I think that's another bug.

But the install was not smooth. I got these error messages during the
apt-get update:

Setting up indicator-weather (11.11.28-0ubuntu1.1) ...
Installing indicator-specific icons...
Installing indicator dconf schema...
cp: cannot stat `/usr/share/indicator-weather/indicator-weather.gschema.xml':
No such file or directory
dpkg: error processing indicator-weather (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

...

Errors were encountered while processing:
 indicator-weather
[master fd875bc] committing changes in /etc after apt run
 Author: neal
 3 files changed, 3 insertions(+), 3 deletions(-)
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

So I'm guessing that should be fixed, but don't really know what it is,
so I haven't changed the verification-needed tag.

Just to fill out - in 12.04 adjusting transcoder_engine.py line 60 to

& providing a patched gst0.10-python, (gst/gst.defs), allows transmageddon to

[Bug 495981] Re: NM disconnects Wi-Fi every 2 minutes but iwconfig+dhclient and wicd don't -- ath9k

2012-08-03 Thread florin
All the above attachments are uploaded after the bug occured and I reset
the router to have internet access. Right now, a few minutes later, I
have it again. It's not a great computer experience... :(

I can provide with any log and other information one would need to fix
this, even remote control to this computer (but secured).

[Bug 1032901] Re: [Xorg-edgers] DKMS make for Nvidia 304.30 and Linux Kernel 3.5.0-7-generic hard fail...

2012-08-03 Thread AG Restringere
Also, I could not run 'ubuntu-bug' to file this bug because after using
'ppa-purge ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa' repository it left the Linux Kernel
3.5.0-7-generic intact (I assume this is a security related feature to
not allow for Kernel removals) and when I rebooted none of the built in
drivers for my Broadcom Network driver were available so I could not
connect to the internet.

If you need more information please tell me...

[Bug 1004018] Re: Add highbank images

I have successfully installed Quantal on to a highbank qemu machine using one
of the recent initrds. For the qemu machine, I had to use my own kernel that
has ext2 built-in from upstream with my own config.
Here's the command I used for the installation:

$ sudo ~/workdir/qemu-linaro-1.1.50-2012.07/arm-softmmu/qemu-system-arm
-M highbank -kernel ~/workdir/u-boot-linaro-2012.02.3/u-boot -m 4096

[Bug 1032900] [NEW] Display crash on user change

2012-08-03 Thread D3m0n1q_733rz
Public bug reported:

After being logged in as a user, if another user decides to attempt to change
user as guest instead of entering a password, the display will sometimes go
black and fail to respond resulting in no signal to the monitor. The only
known way of fixing the problem is by restarting the computer.
If another display driver such as the ATI driver is used, this error results in
the inability to start X and crashes upon entering the startx command. I
believe that this error is the result of attempting to reset display parameters
prior to bringing the display adapter back online on user change. The result
would be issuing commands to an interface which was not yet available to
receive commands.

Ubuntu Version: 12.04 with proposed updates enabled

The error can be recreated, but I can not seem to generate a program
crash report to submit here.

You can improve the situation by installing xautolock and xdotool. Using
these two tools you can have the mouse move every x minutes of no
activity. 5 days with no black screen of death!

e.g. run the following in a terminal window and the task is put in the
background:
xautolock -time 1 -locker "xdotool mousemove 10 10" &

[Bug 1032256] Re: Incorrect menu items appear in Edubuntu due to incorrect path in debian/edubuntu-artwork.install

2012-08-03 Thread Steve Langasek
Hello Jonathan, or anyone else affected,

Accepted edubuntu-artwork into precise-proposed. The package will build
now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/edubuntu-
artwork/12.04.2 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please change the bug tag from
verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not, change the
tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing
will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1032612] Re: Xorg crash in BasicComputeAcceleration

2012-08-03 Thread didi_X8
** Description changed:

- Xorg crashes after several sleep/wakeup cycles.
- This is duplicate of #1026777, I created it in order to have all info
uploaded by apport.
+ Since about 2 weeks, my Xorg randomly crashes (jumping back to login screen).
Happens mainly during wakeup, but not only. I was running 12.04 for several
weeks without this issue before.
+ Initially I thought this is the same as #1026777, but the segfault seems to
occur in a different function.

Happens mainly during wakeup, but not only. I was running 12.04 for several
weeks without this issue before.
+ Since about 2 weeks, my Xorg randomly crashes on my Thinkpad T410s (jumping
back to login screen). Happens mainly during wakeup, but not only. I was
running 12.04 for several weeks without this issue before.
Initially I thought this is the same as #1026777, but the segfault seems to
occur in a different function.
+
+ Seeing that synaptics_drv.so is involved, I already tried to deactivate
+ the touchpad (with synclient TouchpadOff=1), but didn't help.
+ However the trackpoint is still on and I don't know if that's handled by
+ the same driver.

[Bug 1032886]

2012-08-03 Thread Ubuntu Foundation's Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1032886/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]
