[Bug 1038371] [NEW] disabling in-kernel support should be optional
Public bug reported: I have an Antec case with an iMon knob device, as well as a serial port IR receiver. The knob produces events, so I don't need lirc for it. I also use the imon device for lcdproc. I run lirc, solely to communicate with the serial IR device. The current lirc init script attempts to modify the imon device in /sys/class/rc/rc0/protocols. This is unnecessary, as I don't intend to use that device with lirc, and furthermore, for reasons unknown, it occasionally causes the computer to fail to shut down. I don't particularly care why echoing "none" to /sys/class/rc/rc0/protocols hangs occasionally, because it isn't an operation that needs to be done at all on my system. I can edit the init script to prevent this happening, but I'd much prefer for there to be an option in /etc/lirc/hardware.conf to prevent in-kernel support from being disabled while i run lirc, and re-enabled when I stop it. Attached is a patch with a suggested method. ** Affects: lirc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1038371 Title: disabling in-kernel support should be optional To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lirc/+bug/1038371/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 780117] Re: Brasero finishes without error but unusable media [on-the-fly mode] (Ubuntu 11.04 ->12.04)
Hi, i wrote: > > cdrskin -tao padsize=300k -v dev=/dev/sr0 blank=as_needed -eject image.iso Austin Dempewolff wrote: > Done, worked great. Stdout attached. I assume you tested full readability afterwards. That cdrskin command is supposed to do quite the same with libburn as Brasero does. One difference is the end padding of 300 KB, which Brasero omits. No padding with TAO might cause read-errors at the very end of the medium. This is known as Linux read-ahead-bug but it does not match your problem descrption. Did you eject and re-load the CDs which were burned with Brasero, before you tried to read them ? The Linux block device driver does not necessarily know that the SG_IO driver wrote new data to the CD. So it can be that only parts of the new data get visible and old cached data stay visible, until you eject. Re-loading the medium then forces the block device driver to re-assess the medium content. [Bug 222779] Re: XGalaga: Key pad and sound do not function on latest version of Hardy Heron
As noted above you can get sound with padsp but it sometimes lags. I rewrote the sound daemon to use pulse audio and that works fine. It's kind of hack code, and works only on pulse audio, so I haven't submitted patches (and not sure I know how either!), but if anyone wants either the source or precompiled binaries just write to xgal...@bobnewell.net and I'm happy to send it along. I don't know about the keypad problem, I haven't seen it. I also fixed an issue in the stock Ubuntu that overscans in full-screen (at least on my desktop system). Again, I didn't submit a patch because it's a real hack job. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/222779 Title: XGalaga: Key pad and sound do not function on latest version of Hardy Heron To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xgalaga/+bug/222779/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1024482] Re: Mouse cursor theme does not change from default after login
I should also note that setting the cursor explicitly to the LEFT_PTR in any gtk app will cause that app to show cursor updates properly when hovered over (which is why I think Firefox still works when you hover over it as mentioned in bug #86184 ): #include #include int main() { gtk_init(NULL, NULL); GdkCursor *default_cursor = gdk_cursor_new(GDK_ARROW); GtkWidget *window = gtk_window_new(GTK_WINDOW_TOPLEVEL); g_signal_connect(G_OBJECT(window), "destroy", gtk_main_quit, NULL); gtk_widget_realize(window); gtk_widget_show(window); gdk_window_set_cursor(gtk_widget_get_window(window), default_cursor); g_object_unref(default_cursor); gtk_main(); return 0; } And we can force a cursor update by setting the LEFT_PTR on the root window (but this will also break future cursor updates if you had logged in with gdm or lightdm-gtk-greeter with the patch above): #include #include gboolean idle_cb(gpointer user_data) { gtk_main_quit(); return FALSE; } int main() { gtk_init (NULL, NULL); GdkCursor *cursor = gdk_cursor_new (GDK_LEFT_PTR); gdk_window_set_cursor (gdk_get_default_root_window (), cursor); g_object_unref (cursor); g_idle_add (idle_cb, NULL); gtk_main (); return 0; } -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1024482 Title: Mouse cursor theme does not change from default after login To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/lightdm/+bug/1024482/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1038345] [NEW] [1001P, Realtek ALC269, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all
Public bug reported: Running XUBUNTU on an Asus Eee Pc 1001P Netbook. A few months ago sound seemed fine, but sometimes the sound doesn't work with internal speakers. Weird fix was plugging headphones in and out. Just recently sound won't work on either one.
