[Bug 1064865] [NEW] Menu entry 'Install all updates' does not work, if updates require authentication

2012-10-09 Thread b3nmore
Public bug reported:

Updating the system with help of the update notifier does not follow a
consistent work flow. For a normal user it should work as follows:
- a notification appears,
- he clicks on the symbol and chooses 'install all updates',
- the updates process starts (possibly asking for authentication).

Now consider we have some 'normal' updates and some which require
authentication:
- notification appears,
- he clicks on 'install all updates',
- the updates process starts (and installs all 'normal' updates),
- a notification appears again,
- he clicks on 'install all updates', nothing happens and
- the notification keeps notifying.

To really install all updates, he has to choose 'show updates' and in
the appearing window 'Install now'. All very confusing.

I see this (mis)behavior in Xubuntus 12.04 and 12.10 desktop
installation (update-notifier 0.119ubuntu8.5 and 0.126 ).

[Bug 1064074] Re: mountall blocks boot

2012-10-09 Thread Steve Langasek
Ok, that's a rather strange error condition for mountall. Mountall
talks to plymouth and provides regular status updates, including
information about any filesystems that are failing to mount. You
mention plymouth is running ok; how is it configured? Is this a machine
with a graphical boot splash enabled, or using the 'details' plugin?
(i.e., is 'splash' being passed on the kernel commandline, or not?) If
you boot with the 'quiet' option disabled, is there any activity? Does
using the 'Esc' key to toggle between splash screen and details mode
show any activity?

[Bug 932860] Re: Broken (or missing) multiarch support

2012-10-09 Thread Steve Langasek
The latest patch looks good, except I just noticed that the 'appmenu-
gtk' check is being applied literally in both the appmenu-gtk and
appmenu-gtk3 packages. :/ It needs to check the corresponding package
name in each case; otherwise it gives wrong behavior if appmenu-gtk is
not installed and appmenu-gtk3 is, a potentially increasingly common
situation as we have fewer and fewer gtk2 apps around.

[Bug 1064617] Re: flashplugin update missing package download

2012-10-09 Thread Jonne
Still not working for me.

If I try to run the action again, it gets stuck on:

flashplugin-installer: downloading
http://archive.canonical.com/pool/partner/a/adobe-flashplugin/adobe-
flashplugin_11.2.202.243.orig.tar.gz

However, the file appears to exist on the server. So I'm not sure what's
going on here.

[Bug 1010838] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 32bit has a problem with my nvidia card, 64bit ok

2012-10-09 Thread Ronald
I am pretty sure now that the 'randomness' is related to the power-plug
being plugged into the laptop. Without it it seems to ALWAYS boot
correct. With the plug plugged it seems to NEVER boot correct.

NOTE: it does not matter whether there is actual power on the plug, all
that matter is whether the plug is *in* or *out* of the laptop!

udisks2 itself could certainly be backported in theory, but it would
require backporting everything that actually _uses_ it as well; that's
half of the desktop infrastructure, and thus not going to happen.

This bug is not a deal-breaker, so I'm afraid it will just stay as it
is in stable releases.

[Bug 1063963] Re: adding "Online Accounts" in settings application fails if you move the mouse

2012-10-09 Thread Alberto Mardegan
Hi Jason, thanks for reporting this bug!
I cannot reproduce it, unfortunately, so I'm going to ask you a couple of
questions. What mouse model are you using? Are you running Ubuntu directly on
your computer, or through some kind of virtualization software (such as
VirtualBox)?

Last, if you have some familiarity with the Linux terminal, could you
please run these commands before starting to create an account:

  killall signon-ui
  export SSOUI_LOGGING_LEVEL=2
  signon-ui

then try to create an account, and paste here the output of the last
command above (make sure that there are no passwords or other sensitive
data in the logs).

[Bug 1064843] [NEW] libreoffice uses DEB_HOST_ARCH to decide whether or not something is built

2012-10-09 Thread Micah Gersten
Public bug reported:

Noticed this here:
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/119018436/libreoffice_1%3A3.6.2~rc2-0ubuntu2_1%3A3.6.2~rc2-0ubuntu3.diff.gz

I believe this should be DEB_BUILD_ARCH.

Quoting from the dpkg-archetecture man page

   DEB_BUILD_ARCH
The Debian architecture of the build machine.

   DEB_HOST_ARCH
The Debian architecture of the host machine.

While this won't affect our archive builds, it does affect cross builds.

I have three machine that I test on the Asus mobo machine a Dell and the
Lenovo. I compared gparted in Xubuntu and Lubuntu.
In reference to bug #1064157 gparted behavior in Xubuntu 12.10 is
consistent with bug 1064157 across all three machines.
In reference to bug #1029149 gparted in Lubuntu 12.10 is present in only
the Asus mobo machine the behavior is entirely consistent with bug 1029149
not 1064157. The Lenovo and Dell Lubuntu exhibit entirely normal gparted
load times of 6 to 10 seconds.

[Bug 1063946] Re: maas-enlist does not take power-type and power-params arguments

2012-10-09 Thread Andres Rodriguez
** Summary changed:

- maas-enlsit does not take power-type and power-settings parameters
+ maas-enlist does not take power-type and power-params arguments

** Summary changed:

- maas-enlist does not take power-type and power-params arguments
+ maas-enlist does not take power-type and power-params

** Description changed:

Power settings are not being sent on enlistment.
+
+ [Impact]
+
+ This change is required in order to successfully enlist with newer MAAS
+ version in quantal. Otherwise machines will fail to enlist given to the
+ fact that the parameters are not being passed. Additioanlly, they are
+ required for the IPMI autodetection.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ On 12.04 against a MAAS server on 12.10:
+
+ 1. apt-get install maas-enlist
+ 2. maas-enlist --serverurl --power-type ipmi
--power-settings '{"power_user":"test"}'
+ 3. This should result in a successful enlisted node.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ Minimal, this only adds additional options that shouldn't affect the rest of
the enlistment script.

I inserted a CD into my computer and started to play the CD with

[Bug 973096] Re: Nvidia driver causes xorg crash

Scratch that, nvidia-current-updates didn't work at all; lsmod did not
show any nvidia modules. Found "nvidia-experimental-304", nvidia-
settings now shows 304.48, hopefully that will be less crashy.

[Bug 626827]

2012-10-09 Thread Wugs
@ Lior Kaplan:
Sorry, my question was ambiguous ;-) I did not want to deny that this is a most
annoying bug; you are completely right that this issue is very important.

I just wanted to suggest that it belongs to the “3.5 most annoying bugs”
list, not to the “3.6 most annoying bugs” list, because we have the
convention to add a bug only to one MAB list, i.e., to the oldest
applicable one (cf.
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Most_Annoying_Bugs). That’s all,
sorry for the confusion.

PS:
I have to admit that this question will be obsolete soon, because the 3.5 MAB
list will be probably closed in the near future, and all remaining bugs will be
moved to the 3.6 MAB list. So we can leave this bug on the 3.6 list, OK.

[Bug 626827]

2012-10-09 Thread Lior Kaplan
Quoting from #6
"This is the Meta issue to track most annoying bugs for the release of
LibreOffice 3.6.x releases. It helps developers to concentrate on bugs that are
important for users."

So this is quite impotant for users, and I got several complaints from
people for whom this issues prevents them from using LibO, as they can't
edit doc files. Most of them were lawyers who tried to prepare a
contact, which got "ruined" each time they saved to send the comment to
the other side.

[Bug 626827]

2012-10-09 Thread Lior Kaplan
Still reproducible on Version 3.6.0.4 (Build ID: 932b512).

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open new writer file, make sure it has more than one page.
2. Add header/footer with a page number (just as an indicator).
3. Change first page style
4. save as doc file and reopen the file.

All pages style is as the first page.

[Bug 1064783]

2012-10-09 Thread Ubuntu Foundation's Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1064783/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]
