[Bug 606238] Re: synaptic touchpad not recognized on dell latitude e6510 and others
I just released a 1.0 version of the alps driver [1]. This is my candidate for linux patch submission for the alps driver supporting the new V5 and V6 protocols. The code mods in this release bring it into compliance with the patch submission requirements. I made no logic changes. I had to make some formatting changes to Ben Gamari's V5 protocol to pass the patch requirements - hopefully I didn't change the logic. In a couple days, I'll submit to Canonical rather than linux-input because I have only tested using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. If you detect any problems with the 1.0 driver, please post here. [Bug 1067817] [NEW] restart of program causes duplicate files.
Public bug reported: In recovering over 700G from a 2T HDD, I had to stop the processonly to find out the default nature of the program is to create duplicate files, basically no restart is available unless you want to double the size of your data. It is also VERY slow compared to ignoring files that exist. This patch accomplishes this and and also includes the bug fix here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/scrounge-ntfs/+bug/1067814 Patch attached. This patch makes both the Win32 and the Linux command line the same instead of it being different. Hi Daniel, Yes, I too believe that what's described in bug #1049214 seems to fit what's happening on screen. Please mark this as a dupe of that bug report. On a side-note there was something that caught my eye in the latest nvidia driver beta: Version 310.14 Release DateMon Oct 15, 2012 * Improved performance and responsiveness of windowed OpenGL applications running inside a Unity session. Same for me, using Ubuntu Precise 12.04. [Bug 1067801] Re: Touchpad is misdetected as a PS/2 Mouse on a Fujitsu A512
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.7 kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs- upstream-testing' tag. Please only remove that one tag and leave the other tags. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as Confirmed. Thanks in advance. [Bug 606238] Re: synaptic touchpad not recognized on dell latitude e6510 and others
@Nicolas Dumoulin It looks like the driver is not detecting the alps touchpad. Look from the bottom up in the syslog (probably /varlog/syslog) for lines with psmouse. If there are lines with alps: E6 then the driver is installed correctly. What does the line with alps: command_mode: say? The E6230 may not be a supported alps model, at least there is no indication in the code it is. So the psmouse driver reverts to 3-byte ps2 mode. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/606238 Title: synaptic touchpad not recognized on dell latitude e6510 and others To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/606238/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1067515] Re: Locking from user menu fails second time
Don't think this is a bug in indicator-session. Basically indicator- session is just calling two dbus methods on org.gnome.ScreenSaver; Lock and SimulateUserActivity. It seems that the SimulateUserActivity call is not returning immediately. I can illustrate this with a simple script: #!/bin/bash dbus-send --session --print-reply --dest=org.gnome.ScreenSaver \ /org/gnome/ScreenSaver org.gnome.ScreenSaver.Lock dbus-send --session --print-reply --dest=org.gnome.ScreenSaver \ /org/gnome/ScreenSaver org.gnome.ScreenSaver.SimulateUserActivity which when run, locks the screen and then shows the lock screen immediately. When you unlock the screen, the script will still be blocked until the timeout is reached, where we get: method return sender=:1.79 - dest=:1.103 reply_serial=2 Error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken. The first line is from the successful call to Lock. The call to SimulateUserActivity is also successful since the lock screen appears immediately, but we never get a reply. A decent workaround might be to set the timeout to some low value, say 1 second. It seems to work when setting --reply-timeout=1 in the script, I'm going to try rebuilding indicator-session with that value and see if it helps (though I am curious why we never get a reply). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1067515 Title: Locking from user menu fails second time To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-session/+bug/1067515/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1067269] Re: Oops during snd_hda_intel init
David, noah, it's a notebook from 2006, it won't have dual mics. The green jack outputs s/pdif laser beam when digital output isn't muted. I just tried your change to latest dkms-alsa from that page and it worked perfectly. I can hear sound from internal speakers in default config. I get sound through headphones when connected to green socket, so everything works as expected. Though I heard very distorted sound from VLC when trying to play music in default config (directly to alsa?), but changed it to play through pulseaudio and now everything's fine. [Bug 1067834] [NEW] inconsistent use of CNAME for hostname
Public bug reported: I am using MAAS in a network w/ a preexisting DNS/DHCP infrastructure. I would like for my MAAS nodes to use the CNAME for the IP they are assigned as their hostname. This seems to work - but only for the first enlisted node. All following nodes get configured with the node-mac.local names. I've rebuilt my MAAS server from scratch a few times, varying which node I enlist first, and have ruled out DNS issues. The same node will get a CNAME-based-hostname if enlisted first, and a mac-based name if enlisted after the first. I can also reproduce by removing all nodes from an existing MAAS. If I then re-add one of the nodes that previously had a MAC-based name it enlists w/ a CNAME-based name. I'm using MAAS 0.1+bzr1264+dfsg-0ubuntu2 on quantal. maas-dhcp/mass-dns are not installed. ** Affects: maas (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1067834 Title: inconsistent use of CNAME for hostname To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/maas/+bug/1067834/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1067832] [NEW] Can't redeem Humble Bundle purchases in Software Center
Public bug reported: After I click the Buy button, I see 2 operations eternally in progress. 1 is: querying software sources and 2 is Installing [X] but the throbber oscillates from left to right and back again - never processing. [Bug 1067836] [NEW] Disk drive for /tmp error displayed briefly after Lubuntu PP - QQ dist-upgrade
Public bug reported: This error appears very briefly (10 to 15 seconds) when booting the OS after upgrading from Lubuntu i386 Precise to Lubuntu i386 Quantal. Please see the attached picture - sorry it's a bit blurry. It only appears during the first boot after upgrade, thereafter Lubuntu boots fine, so I don't think it's serious but I wanted to create a bug report so Phill and Julien could decide if it should be mentioned in the release notes. Should they choose to add a note to the release notes I can absolutely say that if the user just waits rather than pressing any keys the initial boot is successful and, as I previously said, it does not appear thereafter.
