[Bug 961034] Re: wrong wording when importing fonts
I apologize for not addressing this sooner. :-) The reality is that the version of the program this bug applies to is pretty much dead. Work on a Gtk+ 3 version written in Vala is ongoing. [Bug 1067326] Re: hard lock or freeze after the computer becomes inactive
cometdog, thank you for testing the mainline kernel. As per http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/info/kernel-version-map.html the last known good Ubuntu kernel 3.2.0-31 is based on mainline 3.2.28. So, the next step is to perform a reverse mainline kernel bisect from v3.2.28-precise/ to v3.7-rc1-quantal/ in order to identify the last good upstream kernel and first bad one. As per http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ we have: v3.2.28-precise/ v3.2.29-precise/ v3.2.30-precise/ v3.2.31-precise/ v3.2.32-precise/ v3.3-precise/ v3.3-rc1-precise/ v3.3-rc2-precise/ v3.3-rc3-precise/ v3.3-rc4-precise/ v3.3-rc5-precise/ v3.3-rc6-precise/ v3.3-rc7-precise/ v3.3.1-precise/ v3.3.2-precise/ v3.3.3-precise/ v3.3.4-precise/ v3.3.5-precise/ v3.3.6-precise/ v3.3.7-precise/ v3.3.8-quantal/ v3.4-precise/ v3.4-quantal/ v3.4-rc1-precise/ v3.4-rc2-precise/ v3.4-rc3-precise/ v3.4-rc4-precise/ v3.4-rc5-precise/ v3.4-rc6-precise/ v3.4-rc7-precise/ v3.4.1-quantal/ v3.4.2-quantal/ v3.4.3-quantal/ v3.4.4-quantal/ v3.4.5-quantal/ v3.4.6-quantal/ v3.4.7-quantal/ v3.4.8-quantal/ v3.4.9-quantal/ v3.4.10-quantal/ v3.4.11-quantal/ v3.4.12-quantal/ v3.4.13-quantal/ v3.4.14-quantal/ v3.5-quantal/ v3.5-rc1-quantal/ v3.5-rc2-quantal/ v3.5-rc3-quantal/ v3.5-rc4-quantal/ v3.5-rc5-quantal/ v3.5-rc6-quantal/ v3.5-rc7-quantal/ v3.5.1-quantal/ v3.5.2-quantal/ v3.5.3-quantal/ v3.5.4-quantal/ v3.5.5-quantal/ v3.5.6-quantal-ok/ v3.5.6-quantal/ v3.5.7-quantal/ v3.6-quantal/ v3.6-rc1-quantal/ v3.6-rc2-quantal/ v3.6-rc3-quantal/ v3.6-rc4-quantal/ v3.6-rc5-quantal/ v3.6-rc6-quantal/ v3.6-rc7-quantal/ v3.6.1-quantal/ v3.6.2-quantal/ v3.7-rc1-quantal/ Hence, could you please test http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel- ppa/mainline/v3.4.5-quantal/ ? [Bug 1068199] Re: please add support for MAP_HUGETLB in eglibc for Lucid
** Patch added: "eglibc_2.11.1-0ubuntu7.1.lucid.debdiff" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eglibc/+bug/1068199/+attachment/3402971/+files/eglibc_2.11.1-0ubuntu7.1.lucid.debdiff ** Description changed: it looks like eglibc on 10.04 does not have MAP_HUGETLB headers or flags activated [1]. According to hugetlbpage.txt [2] they state that if the application is making use of only (shmget, shmat) calls you don't really need a virtual filesystem. This behaviout *DOES NOT* happen on 10.04 using the released hugepages 10.04 packages but it DOES WORK when using precise packages. + [Impact] + Those wishing utilize hugepages on Lucid. + + [Test Case] Here are some steps to reproduce the issue. 1. Configure hugepages with filesystem support. 2. Test and validate that it works with 10.04 packages. 3. Umount the virtual filesystem sudo umount /mnt/hugetlbfs 4. run: LD_PRELOAD=libhugetlbfs.so HUGETLB_MORECORE=yes ls /boot You will get the following error message: libhugetlbfs: WARNING: Hugepage size 2097152 unavailable abi-2.6.32-43-server grub lost+found System.map-2.6.32-43-server vmlinuz-2.6.32-43-server 5. Download hugepages packages from: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libhugetlbfs/2.11-0ubuntu1/+build/2263743 and install them. 6. Try again. It should work without having to configure a virtual filesystem. [1] - http://old.nabble.com/Missing-MAP_HUGETLB-flag-from-glibc-headers-td30201924.html [2] - http://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/vm/hugetlbpage.txt Leonardo Borda + + [Regressioni Potential] + Huge page support is already in the kernel so this impact is merely making use of that functionality. There should be no changes needed in current applications since hugepages can be used through existing shmget, shmat routines. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1068199 Title: please add support for MAP_HUGETLB in eglibc for Lucid To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eglibc/+bug/1068199/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1067473] Re: [quantal] isc-dhcp-client dropped network-interface-security symlink and therefore may run unconfined
** Description changed: + [IMPACT] + * dhclient is a root run process and successfully exploiting a flaw in dhclient could +have severe consequences for the user's system + [TESTCASE] + * On an Ubuntu server system using dhcp for an interface: + 1. sudo aa-status # bug not fixed + ... + 1 processes are unconfined but have a profile defined. + /sbin/dhclient () + 2. install the updates + 3. reboot + 4. sudo aa-status # bug fixed + ... + 5 processes are in enforce mode. + /sbin/dhclient () + ... + 0 processes are unconfined but have a profile defined. + + [Regression Potential] + * Regression potential is low. The AppArmor profile for dhclient has been in use for +years and is still in effect on the default Ubuntu desktop because of when network +manager runs (the profile is loaded before the interface is brought up). Therefore +there should be no surprise denials. + + + = Initial report = I was doing install audits of 12.10 and noticed this with 'sudo aa-status': 1 processes are unconfined but have a profile defined. /sbin/dhclient () This is a regression over 12.04 and needs to be fixed in an SRU. I don't know what introduced the regression, but it is very likely a race condition. I saw it on 12.10 server but not on 12.10 desktop. [Bug 1068242] [NEW] Backslash escapes applied in the chat log
Public bug reported: When viewing the chat log, and someone sends me text containing what would be considered a backslash escape in most programming languages, the escapes will be applied. For example, the UNC Path "\\servername\c$\source" is displayed as "\sw01-v2-1c$Source" in the chat log. As you might imagine, this can get annoying - especially when sending data like Windows paths, which are usually chock-full of backslashes. I tested the standard escapes like \n, \r, and \t If I send someone the text "1\\2\n3\r4\r\n5\t6\\?", this is shown in the log: 1\2 3 4 5 6\? Strangely, in the faded "last chat" that's shown when you talk to someone whom you have talked to before, the text is intact - no escapes are applied. Please sanitize these strings before they are displayed in the log ;-) The important info in a nutshell: Ubuntu Version: Precise Pangolin 12.04 64-bit Empathy Version: 3.4.2.3-0ubuntu1 What I expected to happen: My chat's backslashes to be preserved when viewing in the log What happened instead: My chat's text is having backslash escapes applied Just to be sure, I tested this bug in multiple protocols. It is present in the Google Talk, Facebook, and SIPE protocol chat history. I assume it is a bug of the log viewer itself. To be honest, I'm surprised this has gone unnoticed for so long. [Bug 1068061] Re: Almost all messages from Gmail boxes are duplicated in the Indicator-messages
I'm not sure why every inbox mail for you is being tagged "important", because that's not the case here and you're the first person to report this as an issue (although, I was already aware of it, having hit it on the occasional time Google flags a message as important). String matching on the label name won't work, as it's translated in to every language supported by Google, which means it's completely dependant on the UI language you select in Gmail. For this reason, string matching is always unreliable and breaks frequently as translations are updated. Checking if messages are the same is not really an option. As the 2 messages have different URI's, the only way to check if messages are the same would be to compare their contents, which a) is incredibly slow, and b) requires us to stream the entire contents of every message from the network (rather than just the message headers) just to show a notification. Unfortunately, there isn't really any good solution here. If it bothers you that much, you can turn on "Inbox only" mode in the preferences -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1068061 Title: Almost all messages from Gmail boxes are duplicated in the Indicator- messages To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thunderbird/+bug/1068061/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
