[Bug 1077737] Re: Brasero CD-burning error - CD unusable
Hi, there was a brasero bug fixed in the course of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brasero/+bug/780117 which began by a different problem but collected several reports about unmountable CD and DVD. It hit data burning on-the-fly but not burning of pre-produced ISO images or of CD audio. I understand that Ubuntu is fixing it in some of its past releases, too. But you report "ended up a burning error". The fixed bug did not produce error messages at write time. Error messages at write time might indicate a problem between drive and medium. (E.g. "Write error" is normally not the fault of the burn software.) Success and failure can alternate in such a case and thus create false impressions about the cause of the failures. Can you tell the exact error message ? Best would be to make a run with logging enabled. (Don't ask me where in the GUI to enable logging. I always use my own CLI programs xorriso and cdrskin.) [Bug 1011792] Re: Kernel lockup running 3.0.0 and 3.2.0 on multiple EC2 instance types
Steven, as I said before, that option affects both Xen and KVM behaviour. So I want to avoid that as much as possible. [Bug 1039148] Re: When logging in to Unity, the Desktop session crashes
I get pretty much the same errors in the dmesg log, but the X server starts up and runs mostly alright, but after it's been running a while, starts getting wonky, like it won't respond for a long time, then suddenly comes back to life, but hangs intermittently from then on. A reboot is necessary to make it usable again. I suspect this is nVidia's bug, though I do see a few mentions via Google searches of patches made in the past to the Linux kernel surrounding the ioremap and nVidia's proprietary drivers. [Bug 138194] Re: Closing lid during initial shutdown causes notebook to suspend
Such "small" things as this bug makes Ubuntu user experience irritating. If I push the poweroff button and confirm my decision and I see the system is shutting down, I assume that I can safely close the lid and forget about my computer. But a few days later I see the led light blinking, power the system on and... what a surprise... system is continuing to shutdown. And I'm a lucky man if a battery will not shut down before this. It's a shame that such a primary (from user experience perspective) bug has five years old! And yes, I have 12.04 LTS. [Bug 751605] Re: Multi-monitor - Windows maximize on the wrong monitor
OK, it took me a surprisingly long time to reproduce the problem but now I can reproduce it in some unnatural cases: (a) The centre of the window is below the bottom of the bottom-most monitor (or right of the right-most); or (b) The height of the window is greater than the height of the monitor it's mostly on (and probably applies to width too). I still cannot reproduce the bug in any "natural" case where (c) a window smaller than the monitor it's on (and centred) fails to maximize on that monitor. That's the main case reported at the top of the bug and the main case that worries me. I can't reproduce it. [Bug 1078178] [NEW] Screen doesn not lock (until you do it manually once)
Public bug reported: The screen does not lock even though - the "lock" switch is activated in the "brightness and locking" screen - "lock screen after" is set to "screen turns off" - and "ask for my password..." is checked This problem can be fixed by : - activating manually the lock screen once (ctrl + alt + L) - or typing "nohup gnome-screensaver &" in a terminal so I think the problem is that gnome-screensaver does not start automatically or crashes when it does. I am also suffering this problem in Ubuntu 12.10. Commenting out the sourcing of bash-completion managed to fix it, but the problem is that it disables all of its advantages. [Bug 1078052] Re: TLS fails to work with Spice due to possible bug related to a similar issue in Red Hat under certain circumstances
Hi Obviously this cannot really be classified as a bug at this stage, I have gone through a number of basic procedures to check this, although I haven't yet looked at (or really understand) how SELinux and former issues with this could interfere with spice+TLS I do know Red Hat had some issue with paths not being set although I don't know if this is the issue here, I am about to post a more detailed report of my recent attempt to rule out permissions and certificate creation errors. ** Changed in: qemu-kvm-spice (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid ** Converted to question: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu-kvm-spice/+question/214049 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1078052 Title: TLS fails to work with Spice due to possible bug related to a similar issue in Red Hat under certain circumstances To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu-kvm-spice/+bug/1078052/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

** Description changed: - when you edit /etc/gdm/greeter.gsettings > org.gnome.login-screen > - disable-user-list=true it has no effect. + [Impact] + It's not possible to hide the list of users on the gdm lock screen.
