[Bug 585910] Re: [Upstream] Impress Font fuzzy in presentation mode when Use hardware acceleration enabled

2012-11-21 Thread Nobuto MURATA
I filled out SRU justification. Thanks.

** Description changed:

+
+ [Impact]
+ * bold characters blurs horizontally if the font does not have a bold
typeface. This makes characters less readable.
+See.
https://launchpadlibrarian.net/49398403/Screenshot-OpenOffice.org%203.2-PresentationModeFuzzyFont.png
+ * There is a workaround, which is turning off hardware acceleration. But it
makes animations and transitions quite slow.
+
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ 1. type some text and make it as bold in Impress editing mode.
+ 2. apply font which does not have a bold typeface to the text.
+ e.g. "Takao PGothic" font in fonts-takao-pgothic package.
+  3. press F5(presentation)
+ 4. the text blurs horizontally. And the look of the font differs from
editing mode.
+ See.
https://launchpadlibrarian.net/49398403/Screenshot-OpenOffice.org%203.2-PresentationModeFuzzyFont.png
+ 5. update to -proposed package
+ 6. the text does not blurs horizontally. And the look of the font is nearly
the same as editing mode.
+ See.
https://launchpadlibrarian.net/49398355/Screenshot-OpenOffice.org%203.0-PresentationMode.png
+
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ low.
+ The rendering way of this part was far from good. This fix is not a perfect
solution, but it will improve it.

[Bug 1081533] Re: Suspend does not respond from prompt upon power button press

2012-11-21 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1081533/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1049549] Re: Ubiquity manual partitioning offers to install grub in a way that breaks Windows boot

2012-11-21 Thread Max Vi
Thanks for your help but unfortunatly it doesn't work,
I end up with:
_
Disk /dev/sda - 320 GB / 298 GiB - CHS 38913 255 63
 Partition  StartEndSize in sectors
 1 * HPFS - NTFS  0   1  1 32604 251  4  523799014

Boot sector
Status: OK

Backup boot sector
Status: Bad

Sectors are not identical.

A valid NTFS Boot sector must be present in order to access
any data; even if the partition is not bootable.

 [  Quit  ]  [  List  ]  [Org. BS ] >[Rebuild BS]  [  Dump  ]
_

any ideas?

[Bug 1081518] [NEW] Chromium-browser package is outdated and poses a security risk

2012-11-21 Thread Yoav Weiss
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

Public security bug reported:

The current chromium-browser version in 12.04 is outdated
(http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/chromium-browser is at version 18 when
current version is 23).
That were most probably security vulnerabilities that where fixed between these
2 versions, which Ubuntu chromium-browser users are still vulnerable to.
The Quantal package is at version 22:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/quantal/chromium-browser

I see that the firefox package keeps the same version betweeen Precise and
Quantal, since running an outdated browser version has security implications.
The same logic should be applied to chromium-browser.

Futhermore; there is a (formerly) "official" PPA at
https://launchpad.net/~chromium-daily/+archive/ppa that used to maintain the
latest version of each channel. This PPA is no longer maintained and according
to the Chromium team's support IRC channel, it won't be maintained in the near
future.
I believe it is best to delete this PPA, to avoid users thinking that their
browsers are up-to-date when they are not.

[Bug 1081590] [NEW] could not determine source package name

2012-11-21 Thread rodger spooncer
Public bug reported:

When I open/switch on HP printer PSC 750 to print I get an error message
and a request to send a report, which I accept.

The following message is then displayed

"Could not determine the package or source package name."

This happens every time I try to print from Internet or Libre office programmes.

I therefore do not know if the bug gets reported or the error report
message is just terminated because of lack of information gleaned from
my system.

What should I do?

Printing itself does not appear to be affected. Problem only occurs in
12.04. It was not a problem in 10.04

Regards
Rodger

[Bug 1081592] [NEW] iptables does not honour dpkg-buildflags (breaks arm64 build)

2012-11-21 Thread Wookey
Public bug reported:

iptables does not use dpkg-buildflags. Doing so is a good thing
generally, and is currently necessary for arm64 cross-builds.

This simple patch fixes it. I don't know if there is any reason not to
move forward from compat 7 to 9. It builds OK for me.

If the package maintainer would prefer not to then adding
DPKG_EXPORT_BUILDFLAGS=1 before the
-include /usr/share/dpkg/buildflags.mk
 in debian/rules will fix the problem whilst staying at compat level 7.

This bug identically filed in debian.

[Bug 1048059] Re: Adding ACLs to /media/$user does not work

2012-11-21 Thread Jan Claeys
@Martin Pitt:
Even if ACL support is included in the kernel, it is not necessarily enabled by
default when mounting.
You need to add the mount option in /etc/fstab or use "tune2fs -o acl" on the
partition to have ACL support enabled by default.

I don't know if the Ubuntu installers always added 'acl' as a default
mount option for the root partition, but even if it did, there is always
the fact that people can have used other programs (e.g. GParted, or
another linux system) to partition their hard disk(s), so there is no
guarantee that ACLs are enabled on every filesystem by default.

IMO udisks should not fail on filesystems that don't have ACLs enabled
(it works just fine without ACLs, except for this bug where it sets the
ACL without properly checking support for it).

[Bug 1081592] Re: iptables does not honour dpkg-buildflags (breaks arm64 build)

2012-11-21 Thread Wookey
Actually it's not filed in debian because sid has 1.4.16 which is
already at compat level 9 and solves this issue. A merge would probably
be a good plan.

And in fact that patch was excessive. All that is needed is to change
the compat level. Updated patch attached.

[Bug 761595] Re: Unity launcher tooltip does not disappear when switching windows between workspaces

2012-11-21 Thread Otus
Another related way to get such tooltips that don't disappear
automatically is if you lock the screen with a tooltip visible
(automatically or through Ctrl+Alt+L) and move the mouse away from the
launcher.

I hope a fix will apply to both, so I'm not filing another bug.

[Bug 1081600] [NEW] libnfnetlink needs autoconf update for arm64 building

2012-11-21 Thread Wookey
Public bug reported:

This package needs autoconf updates (to config.guess and config.sub)
to build for 64-bit arm. The arm64 port is stalled until this package
is updated.

Support for aarch64 has been added to autotools config.guess and
config.sub in autotools 20120210.1

For upstream running autoreconf against autotools-dev 20120210.1 or
later will fix the autoconf part.

For the Debian package, if you wanted to keep this up to date
automatically in the future (generally a good idea to forestall bugs
like this every time a new architecture is added) then adding
something like this to your distclean target would be effective: -test
-r /usr/share/misc/config.sub && cp -f /usr/share/misc/config.sub
config.sub -test -r /usr/share/misc/config.guess && cp -f
/usr/share/misc/config.guess config.guess (You could instead just make
those files links.) along with a build-dependency on autotools-dev

Please pass this bug report to upstream

[Bug 1081517] [NEW] i386 libpq5 conflict on amd64

2012-11-21 Thread Ferry Toth
Public bug reported:

On amd64 certain 32 bit applications need 32 bit ODBC. An example is
wine.

Currently odbc-postgresql:i386 depends on libpq5:i386.

However, other 64bit packages depend on libpq5 (amd64) like pgadmin,
libreoffice-sdbc-postgresql.

Both can't be installed at the same time.

Probably libpq.so should be installed to /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/ to
install simultaneous installation.

A workaround is to manually download odbc-postgresql:i386 and
libpq5:i386. Then unpack so's to /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/odbc and
libpq5:i386 to /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu.

Then modify odbcinst.ini to look like this:

[PostgreSQL Unicode]
Description = PostgreSQL ODBC driver (Unicode version)
Driver  = /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/odbc/psqlodbcw.so
Driver64= psqlodbcw.so
Setup   = /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/odbc/libodbcpsqlS.so
Setup64 = libodbcpsqlS.so
UsageCount  = 1
CPTimeout   =
CPTimeToLive=
DisableGetFunctions =
DontDLCLose =
ExFetchMapping  =
Threading   =
FakeUnicode =
IconvEncoding   =
Trace   =
TraceFile   =
TraceLibrary=
Debug   = 0
CommLog = 1

[PostgreSQL ANSI]
Description = PostgreSQL ODBC driver (ANSI version)
Driver  = /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/odbc/psqlodbca.so
Driver64= psqlodbca.so
Setup   = /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/odbc/libodbcpsqlS.so
Setup64 = libodbcpsqlS.so
UsageCount  = 1
CPTimeout   =
CPTimeToLive=
DisableGetFunctions =
DontDLCLose =
ExFetchMapping  =
Threading   =
FakeUnicode =
IconvEncoding   =
Trace   =
TraceFile   =
TraceLibrary=
Debug   = 0
CommLog = 1

Now wine, pgadmin, libreoffice will be able to coexist and run at the
same time.

Ferry

[Bug 1070631] Re: [Sync libgpod 0.8.2-7 from Debian unstable to Raring] libgpod-cil contains arch-specific code but is declared arch:all

2012-11-21 Thread Benjamin Drung
Why do you add "[amd64 armel armhf i386 ia64 kfreebsd-amd64
kfreebsd-i386 powerpc ppc64 s390x sparc]" to the build dependencies that
you move from -indep? Why don't you use "Architecture: any"?

[Bug 861282] Re: 19d2:1015 ZTE K3806-Z network connection established, but does not work

2012-11-21 Thread Josep Pujadas-Jubany
1. Upgraded network-manager & modemmanager packages from
https://launchpad.net/~network-manager/+archive/trunk
2. Rebooted the computer
3. PIN
4. New broadband connection for Vodafone ES
5. CONNECTED!

It works for 12.04 and 12d1:14ae Huawei.

I don't continue with debug. Unfortunatelly I don't have any 19d2:1015
ZTE K3806-Z for testing now.

Is perhaps the solution upgrading modemmanager from trunk?

[Bug 1074779] Re: llvmpipe used after clean install instead of intel

2012-11-21 Thread Albert Pool
I do not think this bug is related to hybrid graphics at all. So far at
Linux Mint we've had various reports of this on non-hybrid Intel
machines, mostly 915 and 945: but on those slower systems it is most
noticeable that llvmpipe is in use.

[Bug 1080588] Re: jockey suggests not installable packages on renamed stack

2012-11-21 Thread Alberto Milone
** Description changed:

  None of the nvidia and fglrx drivers can be installed through the gui,
  because they have a versioned depends on xserver-xorg-core.

  For example:

  # LANG=C apt-get install nvidia-experimental-304
  The following packages have unmet dependencies:
-  nvidia-experimental-304 : Depends: xserver-xorg-core (>= 2:1.10.99.901)
+  nvidia-experimental-304 : Depends: xserver-xorg-core (>= 2:1.10.99.901)
  E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

  Furthermore even some packages are shown that cannot be installed on the
  renamed x server, because the drivers haven't been updated to work on
  them. For example nvidia-current:

-  nvidia-current : Depends: xorg-video-abi-11
-   Depends: xserver-xorg-core (>= 2:1.10.99.901)
+  nvidia-current : Depends: xorg-video-abi-11
+   Depends: xserver-xorg-core (>= 2:1.10.99.901)
  E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

  nvidia-common needs to be updated to hide versions of nvidia drivers that
won't work on x 1.13 or later, and make them installable.
  I think the xserver-xorg-core version check can be removed, in favor of
checking the video abi version.
+
+ Furthermore drivers should have an alternative dependency on the new
+ xserver

[Bug 1081611] [NEW] less: Add multiarch metadata

2012-11-21 Thread Wookey
Public bug reported:

We are working on getting multiarch metadata correct throught the
archive. This package needs to be marked 'Multi-Arch: foreign' for
dependencies and build-depencies to work correctly in all cases.

Any package 'X' build-depending on less cannot be cross-built
because apt-get build-dep -a cannot satisfy X's
build-dependencies until

Multi-Arch: foreign

is added to less's control file, to indicate that less from
any available arch will satisfy the dependency.

59 packages in Ubuntu cannot be cross-built until this patch is applied.

[Bug 1080868] Re: Merge uisp 20050207-4.2ubuntu1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2012-11-21 Thread Mahyuddin Susanto
-CXXFLAGS = -g -Wall -Wno-narrowing
+CXXFLAGS = -g -Wall -Wno-error

You decide to remove -Wno-narrowing, following Debian Bug #667403 -Wno-
narrowing this change fixes FTBFS with gcc4.7. can you explain why you
remove it?

Anyway i cant patch debian version with your debdiff.
$ patch -p1 < ../debian-ubuntu.debdiff
patching file debian/rules
Hunk #1 FAILED at 13.
1 out of 1 hunk FAILED -- saving rejects to file debian/rules.rej
patching file debian/control
patching file debian/changelog
Hunk #1 FAILED at 1.
Hunk #2 FAILED at 16.
2 out of 3 hunks FAILED -- saving rejects to file debian/changelog.rej

Following ubuntu merge wiki's process, you can use grab-merge tool from
ubuntu-dev-tools. many developers use it. Here is example grab-merge:
 - grab-merge uisp
 - cd uisp/uisp-20050207-4.2ubuntu1/
# start your work at here,
 - ../merge-debuild
 - cd ..
 - debdiff uisp_20050207-4.2.dsc uisp_20050207-4ubuntu1.dsc >
debian-ubuntu.debdiff
 - debdiff ubuntu-previous-changes.dsc uisp_20050207-4ubuntu1.dsc >
ubuntu-ubuntu.debdiff
 - test and build it (you can use pbuilder/chroot or ppa)

then please upload both debdiff at here. You can contact me directly via
emails or irc if you still confused about uisp merge.

Thanks for your work!

[Bug 1080389] Re: 3d session fails to initialize with nouveau on many GeForce cards

2012-11-21 Thread Doug McMahon
** Summary changed:

- 3d session fails to initialize with nouveau on some GeForce cards
+ 3d session fails to initialize with nouveau on many GeForce cards

** Description changed:

  With the current 3.7.0-2-generic #8-Ubuntu SMP & also the mainline
3.7.0-030700rc6 both unity & gnome-shell fail to start.
  The greeter screen comes up fine then goes to just the background with a
cursor. No actions are possible inc. going to a VT.
  After a period of time system logs back out to the greeter. (or a totally
corrupted greeter

  A Classic (no effects) session loads fine, am filing bug from that
  Installing nvidia-* & 3d sessions work fine
  3d sessions also worked fine with nouveau with the previous 3.7.0.0 kernel

  On todays current live image the same is seen, attempting "Try Me" goes
  to a blank background image with a cursor, nothing can be done at that
  point

  Quite possibly related to this reported kernel bug

[Bug 1081615] [NEW] Bibletime crashes immediately with output "Segmentation Fault (core dumped)"

2012-11-21 Thread Stephan Goosen
Public bug reported:

I'm using Kubuntu 12.10.

The app, Bibletime crashes immediately, without showing giving any
feedback as to why. When you run it in the console, it simply says,
"Segmentation Fault (core dumped)".

However, I suspect that it is a packaging issue, because I had
previously tried to install the version in the quantal repository
(2.9.1-2) back when I was still running Precise (12.04). And, at the
time, when I added the crosswire PPA, it said:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 bibletime : Depends: libsword8 (>= 1.6.2+dfsg) but it is not installable
 Depends: bibletime-data (= 2.9.1-0ubuntu0~r70~precise1) but
2.9.1-1~ppa2~precise is to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

Now, the same version seems to be using libsword9, but although it
installs without complaint, it simply refuses to run.

[Bug 1080045] Re: 168c:001c Wireless get stuck in Hard Blocked

2012-11-21 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Chris Bly, thank you for your comments. In order for me to be able to
mark this Triaged, a successful test of the mainline kernel would be
best to occur. Hence, could you please test http://kernel.ubuntu.com
/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.4-rc7-precise/ ?

While this is not the newest mainline kernel available, it's the latest
mainline version designated as Precise, and hopefully will avoid you any
boot problems.

Thank you for your understanding.
