[Bug 969489] Re: lightdm tries (and fails) to start too early?
@Clint I'm happy to participate in collecting the data on a quiet day over the Christmas break when I don't really need to use my computer for any real activity. Are you talking about a debug-level log of X or something similar? Tell me what you would like to see and I'll strip the '-d' from the 'exec lightdm -d' line of /etc/init/lightdm and set other X switches or what ever may be required for that level of information. Do you just want the standard logs? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/969489 Title: lightdm tries (and fails) to start too early? [Bug 1069232] Re: Sound lags when opening video files
I think I'm on to something here. (I'm now using version 2.0.5+git20121219+r480-0~r44~quantal1, just for your information.) Allow me to explain. First of all, I have this GNOME Shell extension installed, which might help when debugging this: https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/212 /advanced-volume-mixer/ The extension shows which applications are currently using the sound device. During the time when an application is using the sound device, e.g. a video on YouTube is playing, *and* for a short time after, such as when pressing Pause in the YouTube player, there will be a volume item for that particular application in GNOME Shell's volume menu. (You can try this.) There will be one volume slider per application, as well as the master volume. So now, if I have at least one other application using the audio device, i.e. there is another item in GNOME Shell's volume menu at the time I press the Play button in VLC, then there is *no* initial audio delay in VLC. I repeat, there is *no* audio delay if another application is or very recently was using the audio device. (I guess it takes a while between pausing audio on YouTube and it being unregistered from PulseAudio's list of applications using the audio device.) This is 100 % for me. After pausing the YouTube video and waiting until Chrome's ALSA plugin is removed from the volume menu, then the audio delay is back again in VLC when pressing play. This is also 100 % for me. So the correlation seems very strong. My uneducated guess is that it takes about 2 seconds or something until PulseAudio has warmed up if no application is using it previously? Or maybe some weird VLC-PulseAudio buffers have to fill before playing the audio? I'll let you folks be the judge. Anyway, it appears (to me at least) that the bug lies with VLC since none of my other audio-playing applications seem to suffer from this bug. Meaning, when I play a video with VLC for example, there is no audio delay on YouTube if a choose to start a video there. PS: Don't try this with Rhythmbox, as pressing Pause in Rhythmbox never removes the volume item from the volume menu, for some reason. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1069232 Title: Sound lags when opening video files To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/pulseaudio/+bug/1069232/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1092249] Re: Feature request: Add scripts similar to Apache's a2ensite/a2dissite
This a copy of the last update of debian's related bug : Hello. First, thanks Thomas for relaying the bug in Ubuntu. I will try to update both bugs when giving updates. The project is still alive (here : https://github.com/davromaniak/nginx_ensite). First, we wanted to add them before the freeze of debian wheezy, but we thought the scripts where too green for that and we delayed their inclusion. We schedule to include the scripts for Wheezy+1, and after the freeze of Ubuntu Raring, as we don't want to risk adding severe bugs in a stable (even not LTS) release of Ubuntu. By the way, if anybody wants to grab the script and test it, don't hesitate to do so and open issues on github if needed. Re: [Bug 1055766] Re: grep -R doesn't automatically search amazon
Well, since this is attached to Ayatana-Design it cannot be closed with a WONTFIX due to the way Ayatana-Design is configured on Launchpad. Due to the way Ayatana-Design is configured, this cannot be converted to a question where it truly belongs either. An INCOMPLETE would let it close by itself in 60 days but nobody will be likely to leave it in that status for 60 days let alone let is sit quietly for 60 days. This horse has been flogged and is now rather dead. This is a wishlist item in the end. Since this won't die, somebody should at least look at https://developer.amazon.com/ to see what their API at least allows to have done with it perhaps. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1055766 Title: grep -R doesn't automatically search amazon To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/1055766/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This has been fixed in rlinetd 0.8.2-2, however the report hasn't been closed automatically due to a typo in bug number (105764 instead of 1057645) rlinetd (0.8.2-2) unstable; urgency=low * Add 1-Fix-fd_set-overflow.patch to fix fd_set buffer overflows caught by new glibc 1.15 hardening checks (LP: #105764) The fd_set buffers used by FD_ISSET, FD_SET, FD_CLR macros used to be overwritten usually by 1 byte or more in rare cases on systems where open file descriptors limit is greater than FD_SETSIZE. * Add 2-Add-udp4-to-inetd2rlinetd.patch to support protocols like udp4, tcp6 in inetd2rlinetd (LP: #1057663). * postinst, postrm: Fix installing/removing diversions (closes: #691778). [Bug 1055766] [NEW] grep -R doesn't automatically search amazon
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Dear root owning overlords, When using grep recursively I only get local results: grep -R fish_t /home/noob/fish_game/* /home/noob/fish_game/fish.h: struct fish_t { /home/noob/fish_game/fish.c: struct fish_t eric_the_ fish; or worse: grep -R shark_t /home/noob/fish_game/* /home/noob/fish_game/fish.h: struct shark_t { /home/noob/fish_game/fish.c: struct shark_t_t mark_sw; I declare this a bug for two reasons: 1. The output is boring. 2. The terminal has more than 2 lines!!! It's an unefficient use of my screenspace. I believe the reason for this is that the grep command only searches locally for things I am actually looking for, I kind of expect the results I get from my codebase and as such it removes any sense of mystery or something new and exciting to spice up my dull geek existence. That's boring, grep -R should also search amazon, so I get more exciting results such as: Shark Season 1 Starring Steven Eckholdt, Nora Dunn, Patrick Fabian, et al. [Bug 1092316] [NEW] Memory Leak In gnome-clocks Stopwatch
Public bug reported: After running the 'stopwatch' feature of gnome-clocks for awhile (=50m), my system becomes extremely slow unresponsive.
