[Bug 1031217] Re: Ubuntu 12.04's use of networkmanager+dnsmasq breaks DNS for virtualbox VMs

2013-01-18 Thread Steve Langasek
Per comment #10 from Clint, this bug is missing information needed in
order to accept this SRU. Rather than leaving this package in the
precise/quantal upload queues, I'm rejecting it.

Also, the changelog uses incorrect syntax for a bug closure (bug
#1071344), resulting in a missing reference; this needs to be fixed and
the package reuploaded.

@hadware, #27:

"Apparently this problem only appears after an upgrade. It seems I never
got this kind of problem with fresh installs, and people here appear to
be in the same situation..."

Not true. I have this bug, with the very same dbus-monitor reports as in
#8, on my fresh Xubuntu 12.10 install on a Thinkpad W510. As others have
mentioned, this seems to happen after one (or maybe several) suspend-
resume cycles. In fact, I've had this bug for years, I think starting
from a fresh install of Ubuntu 11.04. Sad really...

[Bug 1049466] Re: Need support of Ralink RT3290 wifi support

2013-01-18 Thread Daniel Georgescu
Hi,
I'm very new with Linux. I had the same problem ( wi-fi not
recognized/working) on Ubuntu 12.10 - kernel 3.5.0-17. I followed the steps of
comment #8 (Thank you, Dennis ). Now the wi-fi works fine, but after I finished
the steps and reboot, with the new kernel
3.6.6 the system doesn't shut down. I press Shut Down and it restarts.
My system is a HP probook 4540s.
I installed the header files as follow :
sudo dpkg -i
linux-image-3.6.6-030606-generic_3.6.6-030606.201211050512_amd64.deb
sudo dpkg -i
linux-image-extra-3.6.6-030606-generic_3.6.6-030606.201211050512_amd64.deb
sudo dpkg -i linux-headers-3.6.6-030606_3.6.6-030606.201211050512_all.deb
sudo dpkg -i
linux-headers-3.6.6-030606-generic_3.6.6-030606.201211050512_amd64.deb

Any help is very appreciated.
Thank you.

[Bug 1084178] Re: auto.net does not handle mutliple mount points from a remote

2013-01-18 Thread Serge Hallyn
This turns out to not be a bug, but a misconfiguration.

Your /etc/exports specifies 'fsid=0' for both exports. You don't have
to specify an fsid, but if you do, it takes the place of the default
uuid which nfsd would use to identify the filesystems. In other words,
you told the server that both are the same.

[Bug 1085107] Re: evolution hangs

2013-01-18 Thread Conrad Steenberg
Another data point:
In Preferences -> Mail Preferences -> HTML Messages, checking the ''Never load
images from the Internet" options solves the problem for me. The "Unknown
background operation" status notifications go away when I do this.

This leads me to believe that the bug is related to webkit html mail
display fetching images gone awry.

This still happens with the update to Quantal's evolution of today (Jan
18).

Re: [Bug 1074207] Re: please add support for configuring ovmf via use of qemu -L option

At present we have the following in
/etc/apparmor.d/abstractions/libvirt-qemu:

  # access to firmware's etc
  /usr/share/kvm/** r,
  /usr/share/qemu/** r,
  /usr/share/bochs/** r,
  /usr/share/openbios/** r,
  /usr/share/openhackware/** r,
  /usr/share/proll/** r,
  /usr/share/vgabios/** r,
  /usr/share/seabios/** r,

assuming ovmf is handled consistently to the other bioses, we probably want
'/usr/share/ovmf/** r' added to this list, with a symlink from
/usr/share/ovmf/OVMF.fd to /usr/share/qemu/OVMF.fd.

Since ubuntu 12.10, my wifi is correctly detected and network-manager
try to connect to it, but it seems unable to connect : it asks again and

** Tags added: apport-collected staging

** Description changed:

The audio on this box suddenly stops working (no sound) after
indeterminate amount of time (on the order of hours). The box is being
used to run experiments playing audio directly through alsa, hence the
  custom asound.conf.

I cannot find any errors, e.g. in syslog.

  Pulseaudio has been disabled.

[Bug 1039045] Re: Wine windows can't go fullscreen

2013-01-18 Thread Ted
I believe the inability for certain apps to go fullscreen under Compiz
is a well known issue. I experience this with Xephyr for instance. See
[1] for a possible root cause. Some workarounds that are reported to
work (haven't work for me yet):

sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager compiz-fusion-plugins-extra
ccsm

Enable Workarounds > Legacy Fullscreen Support
Set a keybinding for Extra WM Actions > Toggle Fullscreen

[Bug 834174] Re: cannot login via ssh when using dropbear in initramfs

2013-01-18 Thread Steve Langasek
Actually, it's not clear to me why we would want to set passwd to
'compat', which differs from 'files' only in NIS handling which would
seem to be irrelevant in the initramfs environment. Both plymouth and
mountall already have initramfs hooks in Ubuntu which set up
/etc/nsswitch.conf to use 'passwd: files'; and the 'compat' nss module
only works if the 'files' nss module is already present, which this
initramfs hook doesn't guarantee to be the case at all.

The only reason this would *happen* to work is because cryptsetup on the
system triggers plymouth's initramfs hook, which pulls in this nss
configuration with nss_files. So I think the updated dropbear hook is
actually broken and not appropriate for SRU as is. This needs to be
made to work like the plymouth initramfs hook, using nss_files instead
for consistency.

The audio on this box suddenly stops working (no sound) after
indeterminate amount of time (on the order of hours). The box is being
used to run experiments playing audio directly through alsa, hence the

[Bug 834174] Re: cannot login via ssh when using dropbear in initramfs

2013-01-18 Thread Steve Langasek
+   LIBC_DIR=$(ldd /usr/sbin/dropbear | sed -n -e 's,.* =>
\(/lib.*\)/libc\.so\..*,\1,p')
+ for so in $(find "${LIBC_DIR}" -name 'libnss_compat*'); do
+ copy_exec "${so}"
+ done
+ echo 'passwd: compat' > "${DESTDIR}/etc/nsswitch.conf"

FWIW, this looks unnecessarily indirect; the libnss_compat should always
be found in the same directory as libc itself, since they are both part
of glibc, so the 'find' is a needless traversal of the /lib/* directory.
But as this is the solution implemented already in Debian and raring,
it's not a blocker for the SRU.

[Bug 179849] Re: Boinc client fails to resume when set to work only when computer is idle

2013-01-18 Thread LocutusOfBorg
Boinc 7.1x already have this fix and another one.

I'll push tonight on locutusofborg-ppa 7.0.44 precise/quantal/raring 3 with I
think another patch for even better idle detection...
I'll push too on costamagnagianfranco/boinc repository too asap

This those 2 fix I didn't notice any more idle detection problems... So I'll
ask for an upload to debian and raring very soon (hopefully).

Let me know if you encounter any more problems.

Sometimes, when I switch from chrome and my emacs or terminal windows, I get

I must change the terminal's font or the emacs' theme to get the text again.

I don't have this issue with my Macbook 4.1

@matteosistisette: Indeed, I initially thought the two problems were
related, hence the title. In retrospect it would have been better if I
had submitted two separate bugs to avoid this confusion.

[Bug 810939] Re: Thunderbird saves mail as 600 instead of 660 permissions

2013-01-18 Thread Chelmite
This bug, one of file permissions is NOT a duplicate of 472865,
"WARNING: at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.31/kernel/power/suspend_test.c:52
suspend_test_finish+0x80/0x90()" .

In Thunderbird 17.0.2, even with a umask of 022, TB creates directories
with permissions 0775 instead of 0755 and files with 0664 instead of
0644. This leaves directories and files open to tampering by anyone in
the same group, and so is a security vulnerability!

[Bug 1099150] Re: tumblerd crashed with SIGSEGV in gst_thumbnailer_play_start()

2013-01-18 Thread Coya DeBrojara
Updated the "tumbler" to version 0.1.27-0ubuntu1 - raring, I installed
tumbler-plugins-extra and still, once in each session, when trying to
display thumbnails from the "Video" repeats the same mistake. Of course,
no thumbnails are displayed.

Zaktualizowałam program "tumbler" do wersji 0.1.27-0ubuntu1 - raring,
zainstalowałam tumbler-plugins-extra i nadal, raz na każdą sesję,
podczas próby wyświetlania miniatur z katalogu "wideo" powtarza się ten
sam błąd. Oczywiście żadne miniatury nie są wyświetlane.
