I'm not quite sure how to test that. Should I modify the Ubuntu 12.10
installation media to use the v3.8 kernel? If so, do I need to do
anything special to generate /casper/vmlinuz.efi.signed?

[Bug 1123829] [NEW] problem in wifi network configuration

2013-02-12 Thread jo
Public bug reported:

i am using wifi network at my office. we have multiple routers at different
buildings given names like rd1, rd2 etc.
they are password protetced for access and my laptop has a static ip. when i
connect to any router it asks for password which is remembered.
when i move around the router is selected automatically. the routers are from
CISCO mainly with model no linksys E1500.
the problem is if i am connected to rd1 and the move to rd2 router location,
after some time it if i come back to rd1 location it detects rd1 as rd1 1 ,
asks password for router again. it coonects with automatic ipv4 setting which
are not the configuration of my static settings. this causes non connectivity

[Bug 1123763] Re: Veromix volume control broken by update.

2013-02-12 Thread Daniel Clem
Install them and still getting the same "Could not create python
ScriptEngine for Veromix widget" error in the tool tip of the widget.

I did try to "sudo apt-get install" the packages that the forum you
posted stated. But they weren't found. And couldn't find them by web
searching. Is there a repo that supplies them?

Thank you for the help.

to manually install the headers for each new kernel.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. We have instructions on
debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 1047859] Re: Upon starting shotwell, gsettings-data-convert crash with signal 5

2013-02-12 Thread Jim Nelson
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1123789 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1123789

I have this problem on my home Precise machine. It turns out that the
issue is with the onboard keyboard's GSettings convert file. Merely
uninstalling the onboard package will remove this problem. The reason
you see this with Shotwell is that we decided awhile back to run the
GSettings convert program at startup; the only other time it ran was
when the user logged in, and we were not happy with the idea that you
would have to log out and log in after installing Shotwell for your
settings to be preserved.

I realize removing the onboard keyboard isn't a viable option for
everyone, so we will be removing the startup execution of the converted
in 0.14: http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/6369

The bug for onboard.convert's bug has been reported at bug #1123789.

[Bug 1039143] Re: 046d:c52b USB3 port Logitech mouse using unifying receiver not detected

2013-02-12 Thread Jelle Foks
I had some time today to look at this, and assuming that maybe the usb3
interface is sometimes accessing the device before it is ready, I added
a short sleep into the logi_dj_recv_query_paired_devices function.

With the modification, I have not been able to trigger the error again.
I did not do extensive testing (yet), but enough to convince myself that
this is very likely a working fix for the problem in this bug report.

Perhaps others can test this patch? It will probably apply cleanly to
pretty much any kernel version that includes the new logitech unifying
receiver driver (hid-logitech-dj.c). The version I used was
3.8.0-030800rc6-generic.

[Bug 460210] Re: Sync dogtail 0.8.1-1 (universe) from Debian experimental (main) and remove it from the blacklist

2013-02-12 Thread Logan Rosen
Oh, interesting. I'll take a look into that. I tested importing the
dogtail module in Python, which didn't return any errors, so I assumed
it worked (didn't realize there was a "sniff" binary as well).

[Bug 1108612] Re: side menu (List of Categories) displays links but no names

2013-02-12 Thread Vanamali
The current GTK theme is 'Radiance'; Cursor theme is 'DMZ White'; Icon
theme is 'Human' (These results were obtained through the terminal as
the tweak tools have both crashed). Further, the problem is not with the
color of the text. The text size have shrunk so much that, the links
appear to be a continuum i.e, no break between the consecutive links.

[Bug 1123763] [NEW] Veromix volume control broken by update.

2013-02-12 Thread Daniel Clem
Public bug reported:

I have been unable to find any way to manage my volume (PulseAudio) in
the stock widgets, or the ones available for download from "get more"
app. As well as searching around the internet in general.

This seems to be the best one available -
http://opendesktop.org/content/show.php?content=116676 - But it is
broken by each suquenctial update of KDE itself. And from what the
maintainer says, it has to do with how KDE deals with python.

Please either make it so that widget don't break with each update (so
that no longer developed widgets don't sadly die) or for a quick fix
for this issue. Actually include a simple way of controlling sound, as
well as music players that minimize to the sound menu's.

I don't know how to add log info, but the app just has an "X" bubble in
the place of its icon immediately when added.

The controversial point is exposing the label text as the value instead of the
name, as this will break ATs that rely on the label text being the name. My
understanding is that a decision hasn't yet been made as to whether to expose
the text properly via IAccessibleText. If the answer to that is yes, we don't
have to worry about this at all.

Assignee: (unassigned) => Scott Ritchie (scottritchie)

** Description changed:

If a user wants 32-bit only wine, a reasonable way to get it would be to
install wine1.4:i386. However, this is not possible on amd64.
  Currently apt spews this complaint:

- wine1.4:i386 : Depends: wine1.4-i386:i386 (= 1.4.1-0ubuntu4)
- Recommends: gnome-exe-thumbnailer:i386 but it is not

- Recommends: ttf-wqy-microhei:i386 but it is not installable
- Recommends: winetricks:i386 but it is not going to be
installed
- Recommends: xdg-utils:i386 but it is not installable
+  wine1.4:i386 : Depends: wine1.4-i386:i386 (= 1.4.1-0ubuntu4)
+ Recommends: gnome-exe-thumbnailer:i386 but it is not

+ Recommends: winetricks:i386 but it is not going to be
installed
+ Recommends: xdg-utils:i386 but it is not installable

gnome-exe-thumbnailer, xdg-utils, and the fonts are arch: all and should
be marked multiarch:foreign to indicate that it is ok to install them
for the nonnative wine1.4 (they are cross-arch shell scripts).
winetricks is currently arch i386 and amd64 and should probably be
marked arch: all (especially for upcoming arm wine).

apt will then freak out about conflicts and give up. apt-get --no-
  install-recommends wine1.4:i386, however, will actually complete. I'm
not sure this is correct behavior for apt, as in principle it should be
able to figure out that it can succeed with the command by omitting
  recommended packages.

[Bug 1123716] [NEW] Can't find c++-annotations in Dash or Documents

2013-02-12 Thread Israel Dahl
Public bug reported:

pkg version 9.6.0-1
on Ubuntu Raring Ringtail (developmental)

The files are contained in /usr/share/doc/c++-annotations

However... this is completely non intuitive to the Raring Ringtail setup.
I expected to Open the Dash and type in c++ and see my newly installed
documentation.
Since it wasn't in the Dash search I expected to be able to look in my
~/Documents and find it there.
Since the document wasn't installed in a way a normal user could find them, I
decided to look in the /usr/share/doc folder.

Some sort of symbolic link should be installed so a new Linux user can
find the C++ documentation installed from the software-center through
the normal user interface (i.e. Dash Search, or some symbolic link in
the Documents folder that opens the /usr/share/doc/c++-annotations
folder by opening ~/Documents/c++-annotations)

[Bug 1123710] Re: wine1.4:i386 not installable on raring amd64

2013-02-12 Thread Scott Ritchie
A better option for winetricks may be to mark it multiarch: allowed and
depend on winetricks: any, that way it can remain i386/amd64 only
(because most of the commands it runs only work on those platforms and
we don't yet have an arm wine package)

only destroy single namespace if router_id is set

Fixes bug 1122206

If multiple instances of l3_agent are running on the same host, all qrouter-
namespaces will be destroyed as new l3_agents are started. This fix allows
for multiple l3_agents to be running on the same host when router_id is set
for each agent.

[Bug 474717] Re: installer doesn't let me partition any harddrive

2013-02-12 Thread Cassidy James
This is still an issue with Ubuntu 12.04. Same exact issue; would not
recognize any hard drives, then removed the dmraid package and the
installer recognized it right away. Interestingly GParted was able to
recognize the HDD the whole time.

[Bug 862684] Re: rtl8192cu fails to connect randomly and drops connections on WPA/WPA2 PSK

2013-02-12 Thread mikewhatever
This bug is still present in all kernels up to 3.8. The good news is,
building the driver from realtek.com no longer works.
