[Bug 969359] Re: [keyboard]: gnome-settings-daemon consumes 100% cpu (and blinking numlock)
This is still happening to me as well, using 3.4.2-0ubuntu15. In fact, I think 3.4.2-0ubuntu15 CAUSED the problem to recurr. I had experienced it in the past and solved using the numlock workaround via dconf-editor. Today I ran an update, and immediately afterward the problem came back. I don't know for sure that the new version of g-s-d was installed with this update, but it seems like a suspicious coincidence -- in any case, I definitely do now have the new version installed. Unfortunately, neither the numlock fix is working (since it was already applied), nor removing /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon-3.0/keyboard .gnome-settings-plugin. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/969359 Title: [keyboard]: gnome-settings-daemon consumes 100% cpu (and blinking numlock) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/969359/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1132531] Re: Error in date format for Wednesday
The characters do not fit in the default column size so Calc displays ### rather than cutting off the text. This is a feature so you know that there is more data. The column must default to a set size and there is no good argument to widen them just so that this format fits, for starters its a user defined format that Jesusfreak has defined not a standard Calc format. Even if it was a Calc format you need to draw the line somewhere for example Wednesday, 6 March 2013 is almost twice as long. I hope this clarifies why I marked the bug as invalid. The make it easy for new users line is valid sometimes and other times user just need to learn how the software works. [Bug 124406] Re: Keyboard keys get stuck and repeat
I've been observing this happen once a week across a wide range of x86 systems with USB keyboards in the last (5?) years. Since I've observed it in the virtual terminal and have never observed this with PS/2 keyboards, I suspect there is an event race condition in the USB input stack, eg a missing write barrier. When I increase system latency, it looks like there's more chance of it happening, so this feels like MMIO write ordering causing a lost key up event. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/124406 Title: Keyboard keys get stuck and repeat To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/emacs/+bug/124406/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 488900] Re: Clock should request fixed width font
gnome-panel is not maintained by Gnome anymore, but this could apply for other desktop environments as well. I don't think this is feasible. A good UI font should have the same width in its numerals, so things like the clock don't jump around. While this is true for the fonts Ubuntu has used by default for its UI (Vera Sans/DejaVu, Ubuntu), if you change to a decorative font like Purisa, then the problem is in Purisa (or not, I don't know if its creators intended for it to ever be used for UI). [Bug 1078657] Re: glusterd does not reopen log files after logrotate
Also, please note that the patch above from Calin Don *does not* resolve this issue. This is because other Gluster daemons that are running, with their own logfiles, also need to be HUPed in order to rotate their logs, such as glustershd. Also, I note that the log files in /var/log/glusterfs/bricks/ are not listed in the logrotate file at all, and as such are not being rotated either. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1078657 Title: glusterd does not reopen log files after logrotate To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glusterfs/+bug/1078657/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Not knowing that the given file path was under /sys/kernel, I failed to capture the error state, but will do so next time this happens (which is maybe every other day). This is with a 3.7 kernel (Gentoo); before 3.7, the driver was stable. I don't know what the 'generation' numbers in the driver mean, but I'm guessing that generation 6 is later, so many of the suggested fixes would not make any difference on this machine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1041790 Title: [sandybridge-m-gt2] GPU lockup IPEHR: 0x0b160001 IPEHR: 0x0b140001 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1041790/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I subscribed to this bug because I was seeing this hang too. It happened randomly several times, without a specific cause or way to reproduce it. This was around December, and it happened maybe 4-5 times along a month. The GPU would hang with that error in dmesg, and everything continued to work, though very slowly. However, I must say that since then it didn't happen again for almost 2 months maybe. I use Arch Linux, which means I always update to the latest stable packages of everything, so it seems that for me it got solved at some point (or at least much harder to reproduce). This is an Ironlake / HD 2000 based Dell laptop. I did update the BIOS when I found this bug report, but it didn't solve the problem, the hang happened after updating it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1041790 Title: [sandybridge-m-gt2] GPU lockup IPEHR: 0x0b160001 IPEHR: 0x0b140001 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1041790/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Getting the same problem upon a session restore. If I have no application asking for a password at startup, then kwalletd works fine. If anything asks for a password during startup/session restore (chrome, chokoq or amarok in my case), then they never get the password and behave abnormally. [Bug 1132629] [NEW] OpenGL no longer functioning
Public bug reported: I'm running a new install of Ubuntu 12.10 (uname -a: Linux nehemiah 3.5.0-25-generic #38-Ubuntu SMP Mon Feb 18 23:27:42 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux). Everything was working fine until I lost power unexpectedly (my cat tripped the power strip switch...). When I rebooted, Unity refused to load after logging in. I think I had some updates pending reboot (I'm not sure which packages), so I'm not sure whether the change is due to something getting jolted by the improper shutdown or something wrong with the updated packages when the system came back up. Messages in .xsession-errors (attached, along with Xorg.0.log) suggest that it's some problem with OpenGL. When Compiz tries to load the opengl plugin, I get: compiz (core) - Info: Loading plugin: opengl X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation) Major opcode of failed request: 154 (GLX) Minor opcode of failed request: 19 (X_GLXQueryServerString) Serial number of failed request: 22 Current serial number in output stream: 22 compiz (core) - Info: Unity is not supported by your hardware. [Bug 1132632] [NEW] usb-creator-gtk crashes every time I try to make a bootable USB stick
Public bug reported: Sorry for filing this under the kernel, but I tried to find a place to file bugs for usb-creator and the project isn't apparently configured for bugs... and I couldn't find any other appropriate location :( Anyway, usb-creator-gtk appears to get all the way to the end before crashing. It always crashes when writing the boot data to my USB drives. This only seems to happen when trying to make USB drives for Precise (I'm running Quantal). I tried filing a bug several times via ubuntu-bug but it always just returned and never actually opened a launchpad page for me to file the bug. Sigh... I am dumping usb-creator as these sorts of issues have plagued it since I started using it, and unetbootin always seems to work. But I thought someone should know and take a look to try to sort out why it is crashing. I've attached the crash file from /var/crash since I seem to be unable to actually file the bug via apport. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: _usr_bin_usb-creator-gtk.1000.crash https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1132632/+attachment/3545645/+files/_usr_bin_usb-creator-gtk.1000.crash -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1132632 Title: usb-creator-gtk crashes every time I try to make a bootable USB stick To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1132632/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

@Leandro, For the new PulseAudio to improve the situation (i e, you would not have to use the #32 workaround), you need to use it in combination with the backport kernel ( linux-image-generic-lts-quantal ). @JoeZiehmer, could you attach your alsa-info ( https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/AlsaInfo ) in order for me to commit a fix upstream for future kernels? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/946232 Title: [Meta-bug] Missing speaker and/or internal mic port To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/946232/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
