Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1162306/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1073137] Re: time-controlled spindown with hdparm
I can confirm the same behavior for Ubuntu 12.10 AMD64 on an ASUS P8B75-V. My boot drive, sda, is an ssd. The four mechanical drives run through a single pci/IDE interface. sda: OCZ-VERTEX4 (1.5) (ssd, not an issue) sdb: Seagate ST380011A sdc: Maxtor 6L020L1 sdd: Maxtor 6E020L0 sde: Hitachi HDS724040KLAT80 All mechanical drives spindown 60 seconds after signon, as configured in the 'Disks' gui (ver 3.6.1). All mechanical drives reliably respond to 'sudo hdparm -S 12 /dev/sdb' (as do sdc, sdd, and sde). All mechanical drives remain asleep until user or program access. When NOT configured to spindown in 'Disks', all mechanical drives do not recognize/respond to commands in /etc/hdparm.conf: /dev/sdb {spindown_time=12} /dev/sdc {spindown_time=12} /dev/sdd {spindown_time=12} /dev/sde {spindown_time=12} Also, after a suspend/resume powerdown, all mechanical drives no longer spindown again unless commanded to in terminal or the 'Disks' gui. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1073137 Title: time-controlled spindown with hdparm To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hdparm/+bug/1073137/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1162313] [NEW] Touch pad Doesn't recognise buttons as separate from touch surface
Public bug reported: Note that this is advertised as a multi-touch pad. However, using two fingers stops the mouse movement. This report is not referring the absence of muli-touch. It is referring to a problem with regular touchpad usage caused by this problem. Problem: The touch pad includes a touch surface and buttons (beneath) all on one touch surface. The entire touch surface can be depressed to click the mouse. The buttons are an extension of the surface and can also be depressed to click the mouse. They are separated into right and left areas. The buttons are functioning for left and right clicks, however, the software is not differentiating between the buttons and the touch surface for pointer movement. Sliding your finger on the buttons results in the pointer moving on screen. Therefore, when resting your finger on the left or right mouse button (as when preparing to highlight text) you cannot use your other finger to move the pointer because the dual input causes the pointer to stop. What I expected to happen: The Touch pad should allow you to rest your finger (without depressing) on the right mouse button while still being able to move the mouse pointer. [Bug 1160205] Re: acpi for gigabyte laptop on ubuntu 12.10
I have the same problem on this laptop Gigabyte q1585n from Ubuntu 12.04 onwards. I have tried to figure out and solve this many time and sometime just hope that it would be solved by the team along with other overheating issues. What I have found it this motherboard does not have any sensor that the OS can communicate to to find out the RPM of the fan and can neither control it's speed. But at some occasional generally during high processing needs, like while using blender the CPU fan stops and the machine overheats and becomes very slow. Before I can shut it down myself it trigger hardware overheating protection and shuts off. If I immediately turn on I can then hear the fan running at full speed (which was not running before) and easily cooling the cpu. Then I can boot in to Ubuntu and continue with the same work have the same CPU load. When the Fan would be stopping is pretty unpredictable but makes my system very unreliable and unsafe for some occasions like financial transaction. attaching a few files which may be helpful grep -r . /proc/acpi > acpi /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/alarm:alarm: unsupported /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state:present: yes /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state:capacity state: ok /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state:charging state: charged /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state:present rate:0 mA /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state:remaining capacity: 3008 mAh /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state:present voltage: 12535 mV /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info:present: yes /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info:design capacity: 5200 mAh /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info:last full capacity: 3008 mAh /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info:battery technology: rechargeable /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info:design voltage: 11100 mV /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info:design capacity warning: 480 mAh /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info:design capacity low: 48 mAh /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info:cycle count: 0 /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info:capacity granularity 1: 10 mAh /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info:capacity granularity 2: 25 mAh /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info:model number:MWL32b /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info:serial number: /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info:battery type:LION /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info:OEM info:SIMPLO /proc/acpi/button/lid/LID0/state:state: open /proc/acpi/ac_adapter/ACAD/state:state: on-line /proc/acpi/wakeup:DeviceS-state Status Sysfs node /proc/acpi/wakeup:P0P2S4*disabled /proc/acpi/wakeup:PEGPS4*disabled /proc/acpi/wakeup:P0P3S4*disabled pci::00:01.0 /proc/acpi/wakeup:PEGPS4*disabled /proc/acpi/wakeup:P0P1S4*disabled pci::00:1e.0 /proc/acpi/wakeup:PS2KS3*enabled pnp:00:07 /proc/acpi/wakeup:AVC0S3*disabled pnp:00:08 /proc/acpi/wakeup:EHC1S3*enabled pci::00:1d.0 /proc/acpi/wakeup:EHC2S3*enabled pci::00:1a.0 /proc/acpi/wakeup:HDEFS0*disabled pci::00:1b.0 /proc/acpi/wakeup:RP01S4*disabled pci::00:1c.0 /proc/acpi/wakeup:PXSXS5*disabled pci::02:00.0 /proc/acpi/wakeup:RP02S4*disabled pci::00:1c.1 /proc/acpi/wakeup:PXSXS5*disabled pci::03:00.0 /proc/acpi/wakeup:RP03S4*disabled /proc/acpi/wakeup:PXSXS5*disabled /proc/acpi/wakeup:RP04S4*disabled /proc/acpi/wakeup:PXSXS5*disabled /proc/acpi/wakeup:RP05S4*disabled pci::00:1c.4 /proc/acpi/wakeup:PXSXS5*disabled /proc/acpi/wakeup:PEG3S4*disabled /proc/acpi/wakeup:PEG5S4*disabled /proc/acpi/wakeup:PEG6S4*disabled sudo fwts > fwts Test 24 of 96: Check _FIF (Fan Information). [Bug 985202] Re: libx11 causes kwin to crash on login (over NX protocol)
Hi all, I just tested the new libxrandr2 package on precise with X2Go and nx- libs 2:3.5.0.20. The kwin crashes are gone, indeed. So far so good. However, the NX capability of resizing a non-fullscreen desktop session window is completely gone now. Expected behaviour: o Start a (KDE) session with a geometry of 1024x768 in non-full screen mode o Resize the NX agent window (i.e. maximize it or drag with the mouse pointer on one of the window corners o Expectation: the desktop shell inside resizes all its elements and adapts to the new desktop size What happens: o the desktop shell stubbornly remains at its initial geometry (1024x768 in this example) and refuses to adapt its elements to the new desktop session window size Greets, Mike (from X2Go upstream) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/985202 Title: libx11 causes kwin to crash on login (over NX protocol) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xorg-server/+bug/985202/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1002187] Re: Skype won't start (segmentation fault)
Gunnar, we already have the latest version of the skype binary included in raring. Short of someone identifying and fixing a regression in QtWebkit, the only way to fix this is if Skype upstream provides a new build. Also, please note that this bug report was filed against an old version of skype in 12.04, and is thus unrelated to the recent crashes. Please use bug #1155327 instead, which has been filed for this exact problem. ** Changed in: skype (Ubuntu) Importance: High => Undecided ** Changed in: skype (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Confirmed ** Changed in: skype (Ubuntu) Milestone: ubuntu-13.04 => None -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1002187 Title: Skype won't start (segmentation fault) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/skype/+bug/1002187/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 674118] Re: [natty] update-manager hangs while applying updates
I'm running Mythbuntu 12.04.2 64-bit and this bug is still occurring. A week or so ago, I started the Update Manager and it downloaded a list of around 40 updates. I saw a Samba update and a perl update and a at least one linux-headers (a kernal update?) It downloaded the files and then stared applying them. The progress bar moved in the Applying Changes window moved from left to right and all looked fine. At around 80%, the window stopped updating. When I dragged another window over the top of the Update Manager, it was wiped clean - nothing in it, after that. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/674118 Title: [natty] update-manager hangs while applying updates To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/674118/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 852190] Re: 7392:7811 Edimax EW-7811Un USB dongle won't connect to networks (rtl8192cu module)
Seth - with your kernel I've successfully turned wireless on and off, connected and disconnected to a network successfully, so it seems to be ok. I do have another problem - I have 2 wifi networks and, even though I can connect to both, in one of them I don't have internet or access to the LAN; I can ping my machine (192.168.1.115) but not the router (192.168.1.1). [Bug 1162283] [NEW] [gm45] GPU lockup EIR: 0x00000010 PGTBL_ER: 0x00000001 IPEHR: 0x0a100002
Public bug reported: Seems to happen fairly randomly. Only started happening after the upgrade to 13.04, otherwise it never happened in 12.04. It seems more common after resuming from suspend or hibernate although it sometimes just happens when the system is inactive for various amounts of time. No rhyme or reason that I can think of.
