Public bug reported:

I was upgrading acording the normal instructions, from ubuntu server

Plesk and a cgi called mapserver. Upgrade process marked a fatal error,
that acording instructions need to be reported as a bug.

My server is funtioning, all the sites are online, but Plesk and
mapserver cgi has been erased. I hope these could help some how.

[Bug 1162306] Re: Ubuntu 12.10 GTK netboot won't boot

2013-03-30 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1162306/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1054541] Re: [Patches] Trim support for mdraid0

2013-03-30 Thread Tamas Papp
Why is this bug's status won't fix for Precise?

I think it would be a good idea to backport to Precise. Precise is going
to be supported for 4 more years and I think this feature is essential
in 2013 and later.

[Bug 969513] Re: Nautilus bookmarks are not updated after username change

I wasn't able to reproduce the bug on Ubuntu 13.04. However, I had to
use 'sudo usermod -m -d /home/user2 -l user2 user1' instead of the GUI,
since Ubuntu 13.04 no longer includes a GUI for changing the username.

[Bug 1072518] Re: Restarting network crashes (apparently) the desktop manager

2013-03-30 Thread Dimitar
I had that same problem, it would crash each time I tried to restart the
network-manager. Finally I restarted it from the root and it worked,
afterwords I could restart for any user, but for some reason the changes
that i had made in interfaces did not show up when executing the
command: ifconfig. Hopefully this helps a bit.

[Bug 1162320] [NEW] Backup failed during verification.

2013-03-30 Thread Rainer Rohde
Public bug reported:

This happens every time (in Raring) when backing up to my external USB
drive (USB 3.0 connection). Not sure why it might fail at the
verification stage, but this leaves me with an uneasy feeling whether my
backup is okay or not.

See error message in screenshot attached.

Thanks.

[Bug 1073137] Re: time-controlled spindown with hdparm

2013-03-30 Thread John Littleton
I can confirm the same behavior for Ubuntu 12.10 AMD64 on an ASUS
P8B75-V. My boot drive, sda, is an ssd.

The four mechanical drives run through a single pci/IDE interface.

sda: OCZ-VERTEX4 (1.5) (ssd, not an issue)
sdb: Seagate ST380011A
sdc: Maxtor 6L020L1
sdd: Maxtor 6E020L0
sde: Hitachi HDS724040KLAT80

All mechanical drives spindown 60 seconds after signon, as configured in the
'Disks' gui (ver 3.6.1).
All mechanical drives reliably respond to 'sudo hdparm -S 12 /dev/sdb' (as do
sdc,sdd,and sde).
All mechanical drives remain asleep until user or program access.

When NOT configured to spindown in 'Disks', all mechanical drives do not
recognize/respond to commands in /etc/hdparm.conf:

/dev/sdb {spindown_time=12}
/dev/sdc {spindown_time=12}
/dev/sdd {spindown_time=12}
/dev/sde {spindown_time=12}

Also, after a suspend/resume powerdown, all mechanical drives no longer
spindown again unless commanded to in terminal or the 'Disks' gui.

[Bug 1158611] Re: 12.10 New build. No unity or "time" bar

2013-03-30 Thread Terry Scott
Update:-
Three Ubuntu builds
1) 12.04 Working fine except Evolution which has been updated in 12.10 and is
not backwards compatible.
2) 12.10, updated from a 12.04 build.
3) 12.10 Clean install from .iso
Neither 12.10 builds have a working unity/ task bar. Task bar only visable when
gnome-panel installed and selected at logon.
Checked and installed linux-headers-generic and fglrx and both installed

2013-03-30 Thread Roland (Rolandixor) Taylor
Still happens on Ubuntu 13.04 with kernel 3.8 and on any Desktop
Environment. It happens when using Blender, any 3D game or SDL game, or
even at random if using a 3D desktop environment.

With KDE, the system will freeze even if left idle for a while.

[Bug 1162313] [NEW] Touch pad Doesn't recognise buttons as separate from touch surface

2013-03-30 Thread Niall Brown
Public bug reported:

Note that this is advertised as a multi-touch pad. However, using two
fingers stops the mouse movement. This report is not referring the
absence of muli-touch. It is referring to a problem with regular
touchpad usage caused by this problem.

Problem:
The touch pad includes a touch surface and buttons (beneath) all on one touch
surface. The entire touch surface can be depressed to click the mouse. The
buttons are an extension of the surface and can also be depressed to click the
mouse. They are separated into right and left areas. The buttons are
functioning for left and right clicks, however, the software is not
differentiating between the buttons and the touch surface for pointer movement.
Sliding your finger on the buttons results in the pointer moving on screen.
Therefore, when resting your finger on the left or right mouse button (as when
preparing to highlight text) you cannot use your other finger to move the
pointer because the dual input causes the pointer to stop.

What I expected to happen:
The Touch pad should allow you to rest your finger (without depressing) on the
right mouse button while still being able to move the mouse pointer.

Laptop Specs:
Device Acer Aspire-V5 571-6467
Mem: 8Gig
Processor: Intel® Core™ i3-2367M CPU @ 1.40GHz × 4
Graphics: Intel
OS: Ubunt 12.12 64-Bit (Dual Boot with windows 7)

I have never reported a bug. Suggestions welcome.

@Nick, you can also use a live boot from cd or usb drive with ubuntu
13.04 on it.

After booting you can see if the problem still occurs and run 'apport-
collect 1153734' as suggested by Dave Lentz.

I typically connect to my office machine from home at night, when the
screensaver on the office machine is on. When I move the mouse or press
a key, the screensaver correctly disables, but after only a second or so
of inactivity, the screensaver will trigger again. This makes it
basically impossible to use krfb/krdc for working remotely except for
small issues like killing an application or checking if a calculation
has finished.

[Bug 1162306] [NEW] Ubuntu 12.10 GTK netboot won't boot

2013-03-30 Thread Kristiyan Kanchev
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I've found that when I'm trying to boot the ubuntu GTK installer from
flash drive computers freeze on black screen right after the system
tries to boot into the graphical installer. This is happening only with
the GTK installer, not the text one. It happens only on 12.10 releases,
both netboot and hd-media. I've tested on 3 laptops from lenovo and
toshiba as well as on a stand-alone PC.

My flash is bootable thanks to SYSLINUX and the my config file is:
DEFAULT netboot
PROMPT 1
TIMEOUT 200
SAY Hello skrechy! Please choose between "netboot", "isoboot" or "netbootG":
LABEL netboot
  KERNEL /netboot/linux
  APPEND initrd=/netboot/initrd.gz
LABEL isoboot
  KERNEL /isoboot/vmlinuz
  APPEND initrd=/isoboot/initrd.gz
LABEL netbootG
  KERNEL /netbootG/linux
  APPEND initrd=/netbootG/initrd.gz video=vesa:ywrap,mtrr vga=788

(the netbootG is the option with GTK, others are the text installer and they
work)
I'm using images downloaded from:
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/quantal/main/installer-amd64/current/images/

I've tried to append many kernel options such as nomodeset, noapic,
noacpi, etc but nothing helped.

I've tried with 12.04 gtk installer with the same config file and there
were no problems.

I've tried to append many kernel options such as nomodeset, noapic,
  noacpi, etc but nothing helped.

- I've tried with 12.04 gtk installer and there were no problems.
+ I've tried with 12.04 gtk installer with the same config file and there

[Bug 1162308] [NEW] [Freeze Exception] Documentation File Is Outdated & New Version Ready For Upload

2013-03-30 Thread Stephen Michael Kellat
Public bug reported:

The Xubuntu Documentation was updated in term for upload but due to
circumstances beyond an uploading developer's control he was unable to
get the new version submitted in term for freeze. Right now we are
stuck with 12.10's documentation in the 13.04 ISO image which is not
good for users. We need upload permission to get the finalized version
in.

[Bug 801414] Re: Open Database dialog opens after minimizing

2013-03-30 Thread David Lechner
It appears that this is a timing issue. This patch seems to do the
trick, but it is not the "right" way to fix the problem. I'll have to do
some digging in the mono code to figure out why there is a timing issue.

[Bug 1160205] Re: acpi for gigabyte laptop on ubuntu 12.10

2013-03-30 Thread Jit Ray Chowdhury
I have the same problem on this laptop Gigabyte q1585n from Ubuntu 12.04
onwards. I have tried to figure out and solve this many time and
sometime just hope that it would be solved by the team along with other
overheating issues.

What I have found it this motherboard does not have any sensor that the
OS can communicate to to find out the RPM of the fan and can neither
control it's speed. But at some occasional generally during high
processing needs, like while using blender the CPU fan stops and the
machine overheats and becomes very slow. Before I can shut it down
myself it trigger hardware overheating protection and shuts off. If I
immediately turn on I can then hear the fan running at full speed (which
was not running before) and easily cooling the cpu. Then I can boot in
to Ubuntu and continue with the same work have the same CPU load. When
the Fan would be stopping is pretty unpredictable but makes my system
very unreliable and unsafe for some occasions like financial
transaction.

[Bug 985202] Re: libx11 causes kwin to crash on login (over NX protocol)

2013-03-30 Thread Mike Gabriel
Hi all,

I just tested the new libxrandr2 package on precise with X2Go and nx-
libs 2:3.5.0.20.

The kwin crashes are gone, indeed. So far so good. However, the NX
capability of resizing a non-fullscreen desktop session window is
completely gone now.

Expected behaviour:

o Start a (KDE) session with a geometry of 1024x768 in non-full screen mode
o Resize the NX agent window (i.e. maximize it or drag with the mouse pointer
on one of the window corners
o Expectation: the desktop shell inside resizes all its elements and adapts
to the new desktop size

What happens:

o the desktop shell stubbornly remains at its initial geometry (1024x768 in
this example) and refuses to adapt its
elements to the new desktop session window size

Greets,
Mike (from X2Go upstream)

[Bug 1002187] Re: Skype won't start (segmentation fault)

2013-03-30 Thread Steve Langasek
Gunnar, we already have the latest version of the skype binary included
in raring. Short of someone identifying and fixing a regression in
QtWebkit, the only way to fix this is if Skype upstream provides a new
build.

Also, please note that this bug report was filed against an old version
of skype in 12.04, and is thus unrelated to the recent crashes. Please
use bug #1155327 instead, which has been filed for this exact problem.

[Bug 1162300] [NEW] 'file' reports improper mime type on video

2013-03-30 Thread ullix
Public bug reported:

The utility 'file' reports different results depending on invocation,
which it shouldn't.

several of my videofiles named xyz.mpg are playing well in any video
player tried, but to pick two examples:

1st example - ffplay says:
... Stream #0.0[0x1e0]: Video: mpeg1video, yuv420p, 720x576 [PAR 178:163 DAR
445:326], 104857 kb/s, 25 tbr, 90k tbn, 25 tbc

file gives these results with / without option -i:

~$ file -i "celciuspak.mpg"
celciuspak.mpg: application/octet-stream; charset=binary

~$ file "celciuspak.mpg"
celciuspak.mpg: MPEG sequence, v1, system multiplex

2nd example -ffplay says:
...Stream #0.0[0x1e0]: Video: mpeg2video, yuv420p, 720x576 [PAR 64:45 DAR
16:9], 15000 kb/s, 25 tbr, 90k tbn, 50 tbc

$ file -i  Untitled.mpg
Untitled.mpg: application/octet-stream; charset=binary

$ file  Untitled.mpg
Untitled.mpg: MPEG sequence, v2, program multiplex

I think file should report a mime type video/...

file is version 'file-5.03' on Ubuntu Lucid

[Bug 674118] Re: [natty] update-manager hangs while applying updates

2013-03-30 Thread neutron68
I'm running Mythbuntu 12.04.2 64-bit and this bug is still occurring.

A week or so ago, I started the Update Manager and it downloaded a list of
around 40 updates.
I saw a Samba update and a perl update and a at least one linux-headers (a
kernal update?)
It downloaded the files and then stared applying them.

The progress bar moved in the Applying Changes window moved from left to right
and all looked fine.
At around 80%, the window stopped updating.
When I dragged another window over the top of the Update Manager, it was wiped
clean - nothing in it, after that.

[Bug 852190] Re: 7392:7811 Edimax EW-7811Un USB dongle won't connect to networks (rtl8192cu module)

2013-03-30 Thread mmalmeida
Seth - with your kernel I've successfully turned wireless on and off,
connected and disconnected to a network successfully, so it seems to be
ok.

I do have another problem - I have 2 wifi networks and, even though I
can connect to both, in one of them I don't have internet or access to
the LAN; I can ping my machine (192.168.1.115) but not the router
(192.168.1.1). I don't have problems with any other device connected to
it. Could this be related?

I have tried with both automatic DHCP and manual (with router as DNS
address).

[Bug 1162276] Re: do-release-upgrade failing from 11.04

2013-03-30 Thread Whit Blauvelt
It looks like the error was occassioned by nspluginwrapper being
installed. At least it was removal of that (after removal of some other
things that occassioned "Holding Back" messages in the log) that has
allowed the process to finally go forward.

Public bug reported:

What happened with the systray-whitelist? Is its absence in 13.04 the

Please give us back a possibility to decide which icons to display in

2013-03-30 Thread Zach Brown
Public bug reported:

Seems to happen fairly randomly. Only started happening after the
upgrade to 13.04, otherwise it never happened in 12.04. It seems more
common after resuming from suspend or hibernate although it sometimes
just happens when the system is inactive for various amounts of time.

No rhyme or reason that I can think of.
