[Bug 191472]

2013-06-13 Thread DA
I will reiterate what David stated already. Each of the kioslaves are
their own independent modules maintained by different people. So if
there is a problem in any of them it would have to be fixed in that
protocol's ioslave itself.

As such if you find issues with a specific protocol, it would be wise to
open a bug report against that specific protocol's ioslave, so the issue
might get handled in a timely fashion. Please note that most developers
are only subscribed to get bug reports against things they maintain ; so
a generic bug report like this one might never reach them at all.

Anyhow, if the kio_sftp ioslave is broken again, I am to blame since I
added an optimization that made it a bit faster to copy files so long as
either the source or the destination is a local file. This was done for
the KDE v4.8 release. I will check and fix that.

I will also see what can be done about the ftp ioslave.

[Bug 191472]

2013-06-13 Thread DA
(In reply to comment #41)
 (In reply to comment #40)
(In about two months we can celebrate the tenth birthday of this bug
  report.)

 Hey, great! 10th anniversary.
Maybe we sould take the chance to rename KDE into BUG.
This is not the only bug that hasn't been fixed for years. (I only say
 Amarok)

If you do not have anything constructive to say, please keep it to
yourself. Adding noise in a bug report will not get it fixed! In case
you are not aware, this is a volunteer project.

[Bug 1170958] Re: [Regression] Panel shadow dropped on full screen windows after notification

2013-06-13 Thread Salem
In my humble opinion if you release a stable OS that is not able to
properly play videos, and fail to correct that after all this time
something is very wrong with your QA process. Releasing something with
bugs is acceptable, taking this long to deliver a fix (which is already
available) to a release with only 9 months lifetime is just WTF?!!!

I understand this is not the best place to express my opinion, but I
really hope anyone who defines how things are released understands how
frustrating this is.

Also if anyone could point out the address of the unity daily ppa would be
nice.

[Bug 1189565] Re: Random CPU hard locks on Intel D101GGC w/12.04 Server

2013-06-13 Thread audiophyl
Preliminary results suggest no fix, but there's a hiccup:

[104371.521583] Clocksource tsc unstable (delta = 468697105616 ns)
[104371.548267] Switching to clocksource acpi_pm

That's nearly 8 minutes of lost time, with no other indication of a CPU
lock.

Because of this very issue, my /etc/default/grub previously contained:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=notsc clocksource=acpi_pm

Unbeknownst to me, his had been auto-commented as part of the 3.10
installation. Now that we're back on acpi_pm, we'll see what happens.

It would make sense that the tsc issue and my hard locks are tied to the
same cause, but as I understand tsc is unstable for Pentium D and should
be avoided.

Do you happen to know if this issue goes away if you use an earlier

an issue with whatever program displays the Sound Settings.

[Bug 1190595] Re: [HUGE REGRESSION] all web video playback is systematically slightly accelerated

2013-06-13 Thread matteo sisti sette
I'll try that as soon as I can. However, I reported this against
linux just because I have no idea what package is responsible for
this, not because I really think it's an issue with the kernel (actually
it seems to me pretty unlikely)

2013-06-13 Thread Apport retracing service
Thank you for your report!

However, processing it in order to get sufficient information for the
developers failed (it does not generate a useful symbolic stack trace). This
might be caused by some outdated packages which were installed on your system
at the time of the report:

outdated debug symbol package for libudev1: package version
198-0ubuntu11.1 dbgsym version 198-0ubuntu11

Please upgrade your system to the latest package versions. If you still
encounter the crash, please file a new report.

Thank you for your understanding, and sorry for the inconvenience!

[Bug 504368] Re: sdl window intermittently scales instead of resizing

2013-06-13 Thread Lekensteyn
Scaling can be triggered by:

- Pressing ctrl-alt-{minus,plus} (on certain keyboard layouts)
- a SDL_VIDEORESIZE event

SDL_VIDEORESIZE is always sent on an X ConfigureNotify event when a
SDL_VideoSurface is active. (SDL_VideoSurface is NULL if a resize was
done in SDL_SetVideoMode).

So it really must be a window manager or something sending this resize
event. What WM are you using?

Notes, SDL_VIDEORESIZE (and other events) may be eaten:
- in the very early start-up stage[1] (causing the issue mentioned in comment
13)
- during switches to and from fullscreen
- (some other paths that do not affect QEMU)

[Bug 1184085] Re: Xorg server crashes when drawing dashed circles

2013-06-13 Thread Romano Giannetti
@Chris Wilson:
Sorry, didn't know. I supposed an -intel problem because my other PC (ATI
radeon based) works ok.
Any hint on a possible fix/workaround? I know I am in a minority, but I use
xfig quite a lot... :-(

[Bug 1181789] Re: second call of 'initctl start' leads to fork instead of exec ('mount: / is busy' during shutdown)

2013-06-13 Thread Max
The problem is in init/job_process.c, function job_process_run().
Upstart detects SHELL_CHARS in the exec line, so first time
it launches command with shell and exec wrappings

/bin/sh -e -c exec /bin/sh -c exit

and set script flag for the job's MAIN_PROCESS.
During the second initctl start and job_process_run
the script flags is set so the following line is passed
to job_process_span and execve

/bin/sh -e -c /bin/sh -c exit

Because of absent exec, shell forks, it is caught by
handler, so upstart believes that daemon has been started.

It seems that proc-script = TRUE; should not be set.

[Bug 1189968] Re: I can't play youtube videos on flash player 11.2.202.285

2013-06-13 Thread Erdem
I tried many things. Clearing browser cache, using a different version
of flash player ..

Also it is browser specific. I could be able to play same videos under
Google Chrome browser.

But for a few days it works fine. If it is Youtube specific I'll close
the bug report in a few days.
