[Bug 1143778] Re: [Dell Latitude 6430u] Brightness keys do not work
Hello James, brightness hotkey is in our gerylist, therefore it won't block the certificate. Further investigated this issue, I found out that: 1. Tested with $sudo showkey -s, the key press is not detected at all. 2. Tested with a external keyboard that comes with brightness key, it works. 3. Tested with 12.04.2 LiveUSB, the brightness key works as expected. And some interesting results - The brightness key will work when the system was booted with: a. a specific brand 2GB FAT USB flash drive (tested with other USB, only this brand here will work) b. a USB 3D sound controller c. a USB cable with nothing connected (yes, nothing, just a cable) Only cold plug will work. And if you unplug these device, the brightness key still work until you reboot/suspend it. Brightness key still not working when booted with these device plugged. USB keyboard/mouse, USB keyboard/mouse receiver, FAT USB flash drive from 4GB ~ 16GB, SD Card. At last, it seems that this issue could be fixed by updating the system. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1143778 Title: [Dell Latitude 6430u] Brightness keys do not work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1143778/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hey there, I think I have the same error. I am on an Dell xps13 with a hard drive about 20% full. [Bug 951000] Re: disable guest session screen lock using gsettings
As Tyson mentioned in comment #28, this is a timing issue that gsettings-data-convert.desktop is executed before gconf value is set for guest session. One of workaround to use gsettings is to put a prefs.sh in /etc/guest- session which does: echo "[Desktop Entry]\nType=Application\nName=Disable Lock Screen in Guest Session\nOnlyShowIn=GNOME;Unity;\n\ X-GNOME-Autostart-Phase=Initialization\nTerminal=false\n\ Exec=gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.lockdown disable-lock-screen true\nNoDisplay=true" \ > $HOME/.config/autostart/disable-lock-screen.desktop chown $USER:$USER $HOME/.config/autostart/* This will make sure the gsettings value of disable-lock-screen can always be true for guest session. ** Attachment added: "prefs.sh" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/951000/+attachment/3707106/+files/prefs.sh -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/951000 Title: disable guest session screen lock using gsettings To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oem-priority/+bug/951000/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1192453] [NEW] X11 uses incorrect keymap after Kubuntu install

[Bug 1192427] [NEW] upper-left "x" doesn't work in Fallback mode
Public bug reported: I recently did a clean install of Ubuntu 13.04. (I formatted my hard drive and installed Ubuntu and then did all the updates so my copy would be current.) I have gnome-session-fallback version 3.6.2-0ubuntu5. When I'm in "fallback" mode, when a window is maximized the three buttons on the top left of that window are not usable. Clicking the "x" (to maximize), the "-" (to minimize), or the square causes the window to lose keyboard focus, but the window does not get maximized or minimized or change size. I can still use the keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl-Q) to close the window, or I can go to File->Quit. For some reason this problem only appears to affect windows that are fully maximized when the program starts up. If a program starts up not maximized, I can use the controls to maximize and then un-maximize the window. But if I maximize the window, close the program, then start the program again and it starts maximized, the bug is active and there's no way to unmaximize the window. This bug does not happen when I'm in the the regular GNOME mode. I was able to produce this bug on my system with Firefox 21.0 and RhythmBox 2.98 and LibreOffice Calc and LibreOffice Writer. My apologies if I'm reporting this in the wrong place! [Bug 1192238] Re: Letter wizard crashes on saving
Alessandro Ceschini, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. First, execute at a terminal: cd /var/crash && sudo rm * ; sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y upgrade && sudo apt-get -y install libreoffice-dbg uno-libs3-dbg ure-dbg && sudo service apport start force_start=1 If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now reproduce the crash, then open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. If you run the command against the crash report and it does nothing, you may be affected by https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/994921 . In order to WORKAROUND this, one would need to open the following file via a command line: gksudo gedit /etc/apport/crashdb.conf and comment out the line: 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'], by changing it to: # 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'], Save, close, and try to file the crash report again via: ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash Please follow https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LibreOfficeBugWrangling when you file this crash report so the necessary information is provided. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thank you for your understanding.
