[Bug 1187722] Re: dpkg-shlibdeps fails on armhf ELF binaries that do not define architecture specific information

2013-06-26 Thread Dave Cheney
I'll hold this bug. I believe a fix is going to land upstream soon.
We'll figure out how to backport it then.

[Bug 1194123] Re: [gcc-linaro wrong-code regression] gcc 4.8.1-2ubuntu1 to 4.8.1-3ubuntu1 breaks gtk on armhf

2013-06-26 Thread Zhenqiang Chen
I have no environment to reproduce it.

Would you please try option "-fno-shrink-wrap"? If it works, the root
cause maybe the same as
http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=57637. In this case, would
you please try the update patch at pr57637? If it still fails (without
-fno-shrink-wrap option), please add option "-fdump-rtl-
pro_and_epilogue" and attach the
gtkcssstylepropertyimpl.c.*.pro_and_epilogue.

Thanks!

[Bug 1194501] Re: ICE on gcc-4.8 building kde4libs

2013-06-26 Thread Zhenqiang Chen
The unrecognizable insn is a "tail call". In 2013.05 release, it matches
"sibcall_value_insn". But in 2013.06 release, it can not match it.

Recently there were some changes for "tail call". 2013.06 release might
merge some of the changes.

Please try FSF trunk, if it also fails, please submit a bug against FSF
trunk.

[Bug 1195155] [NEW] Toshiba Satellite L755 is unable to resume properly from Suspend.

2013-06-26 Thread Yves Saint-Franc
Public bug reported:

The computer is able to enter suspend without a problem. However, when
resuming from suspend, I get a black screen with a glitchy pattern of
light grey blocks across the top 100-or-so rows of pixels of the screen.
In addition, the mouse cursor is trapped to the left edge of the screen,
unable to move horizontally. I have already attempted to resolve the
issue beforehand using the "custom_ehci" (see

[Bug 1175533] Re: [HSW] intel VGA driver i915 doesn't support new haswell graphics [8086:0a2e]

2013-06-26 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Hello Anthony, or anyone else affected,

Accepted mesa into raring-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/9.1.3-0ubuntu0.4
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

2013-06-26 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
Public bug reported:

CID: 201205-11042 Dell Precision M6700

When external monitor plugged (tested with D-Sub / HDMI)
This system cannot be suspended by closing the lid.

After the lid was closed, both display on external monitor and laptop screen
were off, but system was not suspended.
Power LED was not blinking, and if you move the external mouse with lid closed,
the external display will be back.

However, the suspend button in the system menu works fine.

This issue only exist with external monitor plugged, suspend works fine
without the external monitor.

Tested before and after system update, with and without nVidia

[Bug 880003] Re: Synaptic displays "An error occurred"

2013-06-26 Thread Flavio Martins Prado
The problem is probably caused by a configuration of synaptic saved on
the ROOT directory. After purging synaptic, the configuration files
should be removed, but they aren't... I coud find a .synaptic in root
and in my home directory.

This should be considered another bug, or this is an acceptable
behavior? I think purging a package should delete ALL config files...

By the way, i'm getting this error on debian wheezy, but is consistent
with i read here, so here i am :)

manually editing the config for the defult-release solved this for me.

[Bug 1195100] [NEW] [Dell Precision M6700] Unable to suspen by closing the lid with nouveau driver

2013-06-26 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
Public bug reported:

CID: 201205-11042 Dell Precision M6700

This system cannot be suspended by closing the lid with the open souce
video card driver.

But it can be suspended by using the suspend button in the system menu,
and no problem after resume from suspend.

This problem could be solved by using the proprietary driver (nvidia
experimental-310)

2013-06-26 Thread dan
Whew!!! Has it been over 3 weeks??... Hard drive is toast!!! I tried so
many ways to recover to new hard drive. Clonezilla, gparted copy and

conjunction with deja-dup restore of /home. I am almost there...

After reinstall of ubuntu 12.04 and following matt's procedure I get the

[Bug 1171560] Re: Suspend to RAM is broken

2013-06-26 Thread Dave Chiluk
I think I discovered the difference between the above two situations.

In the case where the virtual consoles are reachable the nouveau driver
is in use.

In the case where there is just a black screen with a cursor and no
interactivity the nvidia drivers are in use.

[Bug 1195083] [NEW] Windows 2012 Grub parameter passes as Windowsx202012

2013-06-26 Thread JaSauders
Public bug reported:

I was testing Fedora 19 when I realized my brightness controls did not
work predictably. If I hit brightness down, it did nothing. If I hit
brightness up, my brightness went to about 1% and stayed there
indefinitely. Thinking this was similar to what I had to do in Ubuntu
GNOME 13.04 (add the Windows 2012 Grub parameter), I did so, and it
fixed it. On Fedora 19, it did not fix it.

So why might you be asking am I talking about Fedora in an Ubuntu bug
report?

I just fired up Ubuntu GNOME 13.10 and tried the same thing, and it acts
100% identical.

jason@JS-E430:~$ cat /proc/cmdline
BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.9.0-7-generic
root=UUID=984ddcf5-7b38-410b-9398-6edb27732c20 ro quiet splash
"acpi_osi=!Windows\x202012"

Now I'm wondering if this is a kernel issue. Both distros are on 3.9.X.
The only work around I have now is to add the brightness extension for
Gnome and use that to control my brightness.

[Bug 287719] Re: SCIM prevents "quick find" by just typing in nautilus

2013-06-26 Thread James Harkins
I see that this bug is marked low priority, because of the scim-immodule
workaround. Please note that the workaround appears not to apply easily
to Ubuntu 12.04 (the LTS release as of this writing). Ubuntu 12 installs
Gtk 3, but it has no scim-gtk3-immodule package. It has a package for
gtk2.

Other net searches do not reveal any other workaround. So I believe this
issue warrants more attention -- it can't be considered "work-around-
able" if the workaround fails in current LTS!

More info - Here's what I did:

im-switch -c
--> and choose immodule from the menu

Log out, log in again, no change in behavior.

.xinput.d/en_US contains:

gtkimm_exists () {
# check if any immodules installed
for dir in /usr/lib*/gtk-2.0/2.*/immodules; do
if [ -r ${dir}/im-$1.so ]; then
return 0
fi
done
return 1
}

There is no /usr/lib/gtk-2.0 on my system. I have gtk-3.0 and inside,
there is no subfolder at any level called "immodules."
