After migrating from another PC, I installed all packages (including nvidia drivers). Since my new PC doesn't have an nvidia card, only HD4000, I removed the nvidia with "apt-get purge nvidia*". [Bug 1187191] Re: [MIR] python-markdown
This should not be considered a complete security audit, but rather a quick gauge of maintainability. I audited python-markdown 2.3.1-1 as checked into Saucy. - No CVE history - Markdown's purpose is dual, first to make writing simple HTML easier, second to provide a safe way for untrusted users to produce HTML in web applications and elsewhere. Thus some input comes from trusted programmers, some input comes from untrusted users. - Build-dep python-nose, python3-nose, are used as test runners. - Build-dep python-tidylib is used during tests - python-markdown Suggests: the older python-utidylib for runtime use as one extension uses it - python3-markdown does not Suggest: python-tidylib, as no extensions use it - No encryption, no networking, can use pygments, embeds portions of old ElementTree codebase - No daemons, no services, no cron jobs, no init scripts, no dbus, no sudo - One binary, simple markdown converter - prerm cleans up postinst - Clean build logs - No spawned processes - Defensive code often checks pre-conditions - File manipulation looks safe, encodings managed using good tools - No special environment variable handling - No privileged operations - Extensive tests run during build python-markdown looks to be written in a professional manner. The extensive tests would lend confidence to any maintenance that may become necessary. [Bug 1200288] Re: yum error in lxc-create -t fedora
I am seeing this same issue via 'yumdownloader'. It appears to be a bug in urlgrabber, fixed here http://yum.baseurl.org/gitweb?p=urlgrabber.git;a=commitdiff;h=b6bfd59c4393ea8ba5165aabb249c37d6d2a9931 For explanation, see http://curl.haxx.se/libcurl/c/curl_easy_setopt.html#CURLOPTSSLVERIFYHOST The bug is still present in the latest upstream 3.9.1 release of urlgrabber. It is possible to work-around the urlgrabber bug by setting the options 'ssl_verify_host' to 2 instead of True, though 'True' is expected value according to the pydoc: > self.ssl_verify_host = True > >Check the server's hostname to make sure it matches the certificate DN -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1200288 Title: yum error in lxc-create -t fedora To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/yum/+bug/1200288/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1200451] [NEW] vncserver errors with "wrong type or access mode of .vnc" when user does not own .vnc directory but is in the group owner
Public bug reported: Scenario: User A is a member of group G. .vnc (inside user A's $HOME) is owned by other user B and group G. when user A runs vncserver, it complains that "wrong type or access mode of .vnc", even though vncserver has permission to read and write every file within that directory (by virtue of group G). There appears to be no way to specify that vncserver stop complaining about this situation. I realize that this is a very rare case. Specifically it applies to PiCloud, where the owner of files in user X's home directory are not necessarily user X. I realize this is not best practice, but it is necessary due to issues with our DFS and AUFS (see http://blog.picloud.com/2013/05/01/using-aufs-and-lxc-to-manage- dependencies-at-cloud-scale/ for an overview of what we are doing). Until vncserver, we had not run into an application that complained that its access was being derived from the group, not ownership. If there is a way to disable this check, it'd be most helpful. ** Affects: vnc4 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1200451 Title: vncserver errors with "wrong type or access mode of .vnc" when user does not own .vnc directory but is in the group owner To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vnc4/+bug/1200451/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1192051] Re: plymouthd spinning at 100% CPU after I log in
Oops, I forgot to post my original findings here. You might find them helpful... plymouthd is spinning on an fd of "/dev/tty7" with errno==EIO. Waiting for the "plymouth deactivate" to properly complete (hence drmDropMaster), avoids the bug. So it looks like plymouth's DRM code is not very clever with its error handling. Once it starts getting EIO it should probably give up. Instead, it doesn't understand EIO and retries constantly. Also, enhancing plymouth so that "plymouth --wait" works with the deactivate command would have been very helpful. Right now, plymouth --wait does not wait for the deactivate to complete. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1192051 Title: plymouthd spinning at 100% CPU after I log in To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/lightdm/+bug/1192051/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 734908] Re: Unity is visible on top of fullscreen apps
Also remember that Unity does not use any "windows" in rendering at all. What is visible of Unity is pure GL (via Nux) and not dictated by normal window types/hints/states. The "windows" unity has and their types, exist only to receive input (mouse clicks). Last year I did some work in unityshell.cpp to make it actually honour the window order and pretend that its input windows were real ones. This worked well for 12.10, but I think there have been some regressions in 13.04/13.10.
