[Bug 1210800] [NEW] No Preference for Show UP button
Public bug reported: I appreciate elegance, but I despise not having an Up button in Ubuntu's current version of Nautilus. A file system is a hierarchy, and some times I just want an UP-button that I can repeat-click to climb that hierarchy all the way back to root. Currently, Nautilus provides a fancy dancy button-representation of the hierarchy, where you can click the 2nd-to-right-most button to go UP a directory. But these buttons require more observation and mouse-movement versus repeat-clicking a good old UP button. Also, Nautilus currently offers a BACK button, but back doesn't always mean UP. Even if the developers have no intention of putting an UP button in the default Nautilus, I wished they'd at least provide people like me a custom preference to Show UP button. [Bug 1074641] Re: [Dell Vostro V131] Combo jack (TRRS) microphone doesn't work, internal microphone stays active
an update is available for your BIOS (A06) I don't know how to apply this update. I'm running Ubuntu exclusively on this machine and it seems to be a windows binary. Is it safe to run via wine? Is there some Windows live usb image (the computer doesn't even have a cd/dvd drive) for that? Is any of these https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DellBIOS guides still applicable? [Bug 1210813] [NEW] procps does not set netfilter changes
Public bug reported: This might be considered a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/771372 and https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/690433, both of which are marked as fixed (and have long histories). I have /etc/sysctl.d/60-conntrack.conf as follows: net.netfilter.nf_conntrack_max=131072 net.netfilter.nf_conntrack_tcp_timeout_established=600 net.netfilter.nf_conntrack_sctp_timeout_established=600 With both current distros of procps from quantal and precise repositories, my overrides to netfilter conntrack defaults are NOT applied at system boot time. My syntax is correct because I can successfully apply the changes with explicit sysctl commands. I found https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=869779 very helpful. I have circumvented the problem on my systems by adding service procps restart to my (empty by default) /etc/rc.local file. It seems to me the upstart static network up event is still too early in the boot process and the netfilter branch of the proc tree has not yet been created. I fiddled around with the start clause of procps, waiting for specific interfaces to come up, but that made no difference. Perhaps a new event is required? However, following the discussions in the 2 bugs above, and also https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/50093, there seems to be something inadequate in the architecture. Surely it isn't right to be running procps later to modify some branches while it needs to be run early for others? Maybe the upstart script for procps needs to use different (and new?) upstart events to process subsets of the /etc/sysctl.d/ conf files? ** Affects: procps (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1210813 Title: procps does not set netfilter changes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/procps/+bug/1210813/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1210814] [NEW] Issues with WINE on Beta Saucy
Public bug reported: Testing out Saucy, and having package dependency issues with WINE. Tried to reinstall, but that fails. When I try to install, APT complains about unmet dependencies, and when I try to meet the requirements manually, it complains about more, then eventually complains about conflicts between things it said were required earlier. Terminal output log: http://pastebin.com/R6tAnKC2 I can't even do build-dep without errors, making me think twice about building from Source: root@optiplex:~# apt-get build-dep wine1.5 Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Picking 'wine1.6' as source package instead of 'wine1.5' The following packages have unmet dependencies: libgphoto2-2-dev : Depends: libgphoto2-2 (= 2.4.14-2.3ubuntu2) but 2.5.2-0ubuntu2 is to be installed libsane-dev : Depends: libtiff5-dev but it is not going to be installed Depends: libgphoto2-6-dev but it is not going to be installed E: Build-dependencies for wine1.5 could not be satisfied. I've tried running APT for wine, wine1.4, wine1.5 and wine1.6 with the same result every time. APT says something is missing, and when I try to install that something it says it can't because something ELSE is missing, and it keeps going around like that: Something is missing but I can't install it because it conflicts with something else that's required but missing. ** Affects: wine1.4 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: saucy wine ** Tags added: saucy wine -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1210814 Title: Issues with WINE on Beta Saucy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wine1.4/+bug/1210814/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1067434] Re: Sound output device keeps changing when using headphones
http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/tiwai/sound.git/plain/Documentation/sound/alsa /HD-Audio.txt trace hda_unsol_event only one event when headphone plugged and one event when headphone is plugged check whether you receive many plugged and unplugged events try trigger_sense=false Hint Strings The codec parser have several switches and adjustment knobs for matching better with the actual codec or device behavior. Many of them can be adjusted dynamically via hints strings as mentioned in the section above. For example, by passing `jack_detect = no` string via sysfs or a patch file, you can disable the jack detection, thus the codec parser will skip the features like auto-mute or mic auto-switch. As a boolean value, either `yes`, `no`, `true`, `false`, `1` or `0` can be passed. [Bug 1073688] Re: Kernel crash when unplugging ExpressCard-to-USB adaptor
John Lindgren, could you please confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If the issue remains, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.11-rc4 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, please comment as to why specifically you were unable to test it and add the following tags: kernel-unable-to-test-upstream kernel-unable-to-test-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: needs-kernel-logs needs-upstream-testing regression- potential ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1073688 Title: Kernel crash when unplugging ExpressCard-to-USB adaptor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1073688/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
