[Bug 1224287] [NEW] endless loop with fingerprint authorization

2013-09-11 Thread George Shuklin
Public bug reported:

When fingerprint device is used (by fingerprintd), xscreensaver asking
for finger endlessly. This can be overrulled by combination of 'esc' and
finger scanning.

That problem appears after upgrade from raring to sausy.

/etc/pam.d/xscreensaver:
@include common-auth
@include common-account

/etc/pam.d/common-auth:

# here are the per-package modules (the "Primary" block)

debug
auth[success=1 default=ignore]  pam_unix.so nullok_secure try_first_pass
# here's the fallback if no module succeeds
authrequisite pam_deny.so
# prime the stack with a positive return value if there isn't one already;
# this avoids us returning an error just because nothing sets a success code
# since the modules above will each just jump around

[Bug 498513] Re: dosbox changes setting to "mirror" while using two displays

2013-09-11 Thread shankao
After some investigation, this looks to be a problem in the SDL version that
dosbox uses internally (1.2).
There is an ongoing effort to get dosbox working with SDL 2.0 [1], which has
better multi monitor support as one of its main features and should improve the
situation here.

[Bug 1224274] [NEW] touchpad scrolling lost

2013-09-11 Thread Thomas C.
Public bug reported:

For some days, I cannot use any more the scroll function from my touch pad (on
the right side of the touch pad is a line painted where it was possible to
sroll up and down).
It cannot be so long, but I seen it for ~2-3 days before it was ok.

[Bug 1224265] Crash report cannot be processed

2013-09-11 Thread Apport retracing service
Thank you for your report!

However, processing it in order to get sufficient information for the
developers failed (it does not generate a useful symbolic stack trace). This
might be caused by some outdated packages which were installed on your system
at the time of the report:

outdated debug symbol package for libexpat1: package version 2.1.0-4
dbgsym version 2.1.0-2

Please upgrade your system to the latest package versions. If you still
encounter the crash, please file a new report.

Thank you for your understanding, and sorry for the inconvenience!

[Bug 1224229] Re: Suggest to use axel instead of wget in apt-get

2013-09-11 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1224229/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1224259] [NEW] gtk title bar over the chromium tabs

2013-09-11 Thread Paweł Szafer
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I've had problem with my chromium-browser, as reported in other bug.
I've decided to reinstall Ubuntu to Ubuntu Gnome 13.10.

I installed all my software and after that I tried install nvidia drivers.
Unfortunately, those drivers still not working for me, so uninstalled them and
then I noticed that from time to time, when I run chromium gtk title bar is
over the chromium bar, so I can't click anything.

Only solution partly is to click CTRL+N to open new window (not always
working with this bug) and after that everything works well.

PrtScr of this bug is attached.

[Bug 1159358] Re: [HP Pavillion dm3-1109TU] USB Printer needs replug to work after boot

2013-09-11 Thread chris
Hi Christopher.. In precise, print job sent even printer cable unplugged.
Default state if cable unplugged is:
- printer: idle (ready)
- fax: stopped (paused)

Here are devices URI, perhaps it helps:
- printer: usb://Canon/MX320%20series?serial=15E055&interface=1
- fax: usb://Canon/MX320%20series%20FAX?serial=15E055&interface=2
Both using same make & model (seems that we call it driver) : Canon PIXMA MX300
- CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.8-pre1

[Bug 1224249] [NEW] Multimonitor performance is quite slow and stutters with XMir

2013-09-11 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Public bug reported:

Multimonitor performance is quite slow stutters with XMir. This does not
happen with legacy X or native Mir; both of those are perfectly smooth.
It's only XMir that's slow with multiple monitors.

I suspect this is related to XMir's remaining buffer copies... ?

Guillaume Millet, it looks like you disabled the discrete nvidia card in
BIOS in both Raring and Saucy?

[Bug 1178796] Re: [Asus UL80VT] Backlight control does not work, but there are entries in /sys/class/backlight

2013-09-11 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
** Description changed:

It used to work with the workaround suggested at

http://wiki.daviddarts.com/Ubuntu_Maverick_on_the_Asus_UL30VT#Screen_Brightness
- which modifies asus-brn-down.sh to use the "setpci" method. That
- workaround probably still works with Raring.
+ which modifies asus-brn-down.sh to use the "setpci" method.

But I had forgotten that workaround and I suspect that upgrading to
Raring removed my modified scripts. So, in the original description of
the bug, I thought it was a regression. But it's probably not a
regression as the brightness control has apparently never worked off-
  the-shelf.

  Not working neither with linux-
  image-3.9.1-030901-generic_3.9.1-030901.201305080210 from
  http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.9.1-saucy/

  Hotkeys are detected, showkey -s:
  Fn+F5:
  0xe0 0x4c 0xe0 0xcc
  Fn+F6:
  0xe0 0x54 0xe0 0xd4

I also attach the results from tests described on
  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/Debugging/Backlight.

  Test with acpi_backlight=vendor:
  - on 3.8.0-20.31-generic, no change. But echo 8 >
/sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness makes the screen dark, moreover
/sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/max_brightness = 2583660
  - on 3.9.1, no brightness change but the KDE notification pops up with only 3
levels (0, 53, 100%)

  Test with video.use_bios_initial_backlight=0:
  - on 3.8.0-20.31-generic, no change.
