[Bug 1207812] Re: Iphone with iOS 7 does not work on Ubuntu

2013-10-06 Thread Alessandro Falappa
Confirmed on Ubuntu 13.04 and iPad Retina with iOS 7.0.1.

It seems that something is going on upstream in libimobiledevice to
properly suport iOS 7 device trusting, see
https://github.com/libimobiledevice/libimobiledevice/issues/20 for an
issue discussion stating work is ongoing in a branch.

Please backport libimobiledevice as soon as the new release (1.1.6 ?)
including trust support is available

[Bug 1236174] Re: Grub2 doesn't find it's config file after clean Kubuntu installation

2013-10-06 Thread JR
I forgot to mention: in the grub-shell, when i enter 'set' I see a
prefix that uses hd0,whatever, but I think it should be hd2

I've no idea, why it is hd2 in grub, because I think I only have hd0 and
hd1 (linux also shows /dev/sda and /dev/sdb), so I'm not sure if the
actual bug is grub using hd2 instead of hd0 or using a wrong path.

[Bug 1236174] [NEW] Grub2 doesn't find it's config file after clean Kubuntu installation

2013-10-06 Thread JR
Public bug reported:

I've installed the latest Saucy Kubuntu image (amd64) on a new machine
last friday. This is my first time with a efi system - and I don't have
any experience with that. It seems the Kubuntu installer correctly added
the Kubuntu boot entry to the efi boot manager.

My system has 2 Harddisks, a SSD and a normal one.
I boot from the SSD.
I've chosen manual partitions:
  * the efi partition
  * a boot partition with ext2
  * the root partition with btrfs

after rebooting, i get into the grub-shell.

after that, I need to type

configfile (hd2,gpt2)/grub/grub.cfg

and grub starts as normal. I'd prefer having grub finding it's config
file by itself. I even don't know how to force this config file
manually.

[Bug 1236170] [NEW] grub install fails during install of Ubuntu Studio 13.10 Beta2 64bit on Asus EEEPC 1215B

2013-10-06 Thread Dr Paul Brewer
Public bug reported:

1. What happened: An install of Ubuntu Studio 13.10 Beta-2 failed on a
ASUS EEEPC 1215B netbook and I am mostly trusting the system to fill in
the rest of the bug report. In case it does not the problem was in the
grub install step.

The system had a wired connection to the internet and downloaded updates
before it failed. It also fails if the network connection is pulled.
If it is started in "try it" mode a wifi configuration can be set up but
the wifi configuration does not persist.

The laptop previously had an Ubuntu Studio 12 as the only operating
system. It has UEFI and the USB drive with the Ubuntu Studio 13.10 Beta
2 was booted in UEFI mode. The new Studio 13 was installed with
"erase/replace".

At the grub install failure I was given a modal dialogue by the
installer there was a critical error and given some dialogue boxes to
click through to report the error, and then asked to log in to
launchpad.

2. What I expected to happen: I expected Ubuntu Studio to install
normally. Also the system must have had some working grub in the MBR
from the previous install of Ubuntu 12.

[Bug 1221514] Re: Hot Keys and Abbreviations have Stopped Working

2013-10-06 Thread Lonnie Lee Best
Again today, I upgraded from 13.04 to 13.10 and hot-keys and
abbreviations are still not working in the beta of 13.10.

I don't use autokey-qt anymore; I use autokey-gtk because it seems to
have less bugs.

To me, this is the most important bug in Ubuntu 13.10; its the only
thing keeping me from running 13.10.

It would certainly be good to backport a fix.

[Bug 1160558] Re: AutoKey-QT Missing Indicator After Launched as Startup Application

2013-10-06 Thread Lonnie Lee Best
Also, I should mention that I've just reinstalled 13.04 (today), and the
indicator still does not appear. I've learned to live without it for
months; at least my hotkeys work in 13.04.

The reason I reinstalled 13.04 today, is because autokey-gtk doesn't
work yet in 13.10 (that upgraded to early today).

I initially upgraded from 13.04 to the alpha of 13.10, and I would have
stayed on that alpha had autokey worked.

I waited until today to upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10 again (this time
beta), to see if somehow AutoKey was now fixed. But, since it wasn't, I
had to reinstall 13.04.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate seeing your activity on these
13.10 bugs. Many thanks!

[Bug 1160558] Re: AutoKey-QT Missing Indicator After Launched as Startup Application

2013-10-06 Thread Lonnie Lee Best
I can't remember 12.10 too well, but I can confirm that I have
experienced the indicator "actually being there" as late as May of this
year, in 13.04.

For example, in the attached screen shot, you can see that the indicator
was there in May of this year when I was running 13.04.

To the left of the clock you can see an icon of the letter "A". That was
what it looked like.

At some point, during the course of running 13.04, it disappeared and
has remained gone ever since.

[Bug 1229195] Re: Openconnect will not connect under Saucy -- openssl problem?

2013-10-06 Thread Mike Miller
Good to see that specifying the --no-xmlpost option solves this problem
for you. Is that an acceptable solution for you?

If you are running openconnect via the NetworkManager connection tool,
this option is not yet exposed in the connection editor. So you'll have
to use openconnect on the command line to add this option for now.

Thanks Thijs, but I do not need the workaround that you are suggesting
and in my opinion it is bad practice to make a Skype-specific workaround
for an issue that affect all software that uses the microphone,
including Linphone.

David's solution, overriding pin 0x18 in hdajackretask, is simpler and
works for Skype, Linphone, and any other software that uses the microphone.

Makes sense! I am really not using Windows at all these days, but yes,
it does support my headset so it can't be a hardware issue.

[Bug 1020061] Re: autokey-qt "Show configuration window using a hotkey" does NOT Focus Window

2013-10-06 Thread Lonnie Lee Best
I can confirm, that in 13.04, the default hotkey (super+k) does focus to
as expected.

In 13.10 (beta), no hotkeys or abbreviations (of any kind) work yet.

[Bug 1041032] Re: An error occurred "Location not found" after automatically installing the missing gstreamer plugins.

2013-10-06 Thread Robert Wei
Experimental report:
  system: Precise i386
  1. remove gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly
  2. Open a terminal in unity and type "totem [enter]"
  3. Drag and drop the "Wildlife.wmv" file into the playlist of totem
  4. While starting to play it, totem ask to install the Advanced Streaming
Format (ASF) demuxer,
agree it and go through the install.
  5. The error message pop out, in the terminal it left messages like this:

** Message: Missing plugin: gstreamer|0.10|totem|Advanced Streaming Format
(ASF) demuxer|decoder-video/x-ms-asf (Advanced Streaming Format (ASF) demuxer)
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/gobject/constants.py:24: Warning:
g_boxed_type_register_static: assertion `g_type_from_name (name) == 0' failed
  import gobject._gobject
** Message: Missing plugins installed. Updating plugin registry ...
** Message: Plugin registry updated, trying again.
** Message: Error: No URI set
gstplaybin2.c(3824): setup_next_source (): /GstPlayBin2:play

  6. Click on the play button, the error message will pop out again. And so is
the last two lines in the terminal.
  7. Drag and drop the "Wildlife.wmv" file into the playlist again, it make the
second item in it.
  8. Double click on the first "Wildlife.wmv" that is already on play, got no
result.
  9. Double click on the second "Wildlife.wmv", it goes on normally.

I think restart the playing as a new file with some statement may bypass
this issue, though bug could still there.

[Bug 1064085] Re: Can't Launch Minimized as Startup Application

2013-10-06 Thread Lonnie Lee Best
I cannot confirm that 12.10 still does this, and I did not have fresh
configuration at the time I reported this bug; it was upgraded from the
configuration I had in 12.04.

In 13.04, it does NOT launch the gui when launched as a startup
application (as desired).

In 13.10 (beta), it crashes upon launching as a startup application:

[Bug 1236156] [NEW] [VIA8237] xfce4-indicator-plugin shows greyed volume control icon

2013-10-06 Thread pabouk
Public bug reported:

1) --- Ubuntu version ---
Xubuntu 13.10 beta2

$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu Saucy Salamander (development branch)
Release:13.10

2) --- problematic package version ---
$ apt-cache policy xfce4-indicator-plugin
xfce4-indicator-plugin:
  Installed: 0.5.0-2ubuntu1

3) --- expected behaviour ---
I expect that the xfce4-indicator-plugin shows active speaker icon and after
clicking it volume slider.

4) --- observed behaviour ---
xfce4-indicator-plugin shows greyed speaker icon (with three dashes on the
right). After clicking it small empty rectangle appears below.

5) --- other relevant information ---
The process xfce4-volumed is running.
alsamixer works without problems.
The same problem appeared with Xubuntu 13.10 beta1 and probably with Ubuntu
13.10 beta1 too.
The same problem appears when I use SoundBlaster Audigy SB0090 instead of
built-in VIA8237.

[Bug 965280] Re: Thinkpad T420s - Ricoh e823 not working with SDHC cards (11.10 and 12.04)

2013-10-06 Thread Thomas Sibley
Still happening on saucy (tried the live cd on a usb stick), as well as
the latest mainline kernel build (3.12rc4).

Let me know what I can do to help further debug this. This has been an

The reader is a removable component from the laptop chassis. If I
remove it (while 12.04 is running) and plug it back in, then remove and
reload the sdhci{,_pci} modules, I get these messages in dmesg:
