[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2013-10-17 Thread Lockal
Temporary workaround: install and use gnome 3.10 as described at
http://www.webupd8.org/2013/09/how-to-install-gnome-310-in-
ubuntu-1310.html . Gnome 3.10 is not very stable too, but at least it
allows to switch keyboard layout with ctrl+shift. And it's new GUI
(a.k.a client-side-decorations) is cool. maybe you won't need Unity
anymore.

Not sure about other Desktop Environments, maybe KDE or XFCE are not
affected by this problem too.

[Bug 1179723] [NEW] Ralink rt3290 No Support & WiFi Switch Broke

2013-10-17 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Hi I have an HP Envy dv4-5243cl

I'm trying to get this to work in Mint 14 x86 Cinnamon. I see Mint is
using the 3.5x kernel, it's my understanding this driver needs at least
3.8x or 3.9x for the support.

For me the problem is also not the driver support in the kernel, to me
I'm having more like an ACPI/Bios issue on bootup and the F12 key that
is assigned to the WiFi.

My Envy assigns the F12 as the WiFi switch, I think this is common in
all the Eny line of laptops.

For a distro that has the latest 3.8x or 3.9x kernel this will work ,
but if I reboot the wifi does not work unless I press the F12 at the
Grub menu then reboot, or if I shut down the pc then turn it back on it
works this way also.

lspci always shows the device too.

The F12 also does not work under Mint, red color= off white color= on
and in Mint it's always red.

lspci always shows the device

rfkill list
0: phy0: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no

ifconfig does not show the wlan0, but iwconfig does...

I hope Mint will start supporting this driver In the HP Envy line of
laptops and figure out a way to make the wifi work on reboot without
having to press the F12 first, or shutting off the computer and turning
it back on, as well as making the F12 key work under Mint.

THANKS

[Bug 1237556] Re: cryptsetup removed from initrd.img on upgrade to 13.10

2013-10-17 Thread vamped
Problem solved.

To install Ubuntu on encrypted partitions, the usual steps are: 1) boot
liveDVD and "try" Ubuntu. 2) manually mount encrypted partitions with a
cryptsetup command. 3) Launch the installer.

I've always typed something like this:
cryptsetup luksOpen $my_partition WHATEVER

It turns out that the "WHATEVER" needs to match what is in /etc/crypttab
-- "lvm_crypt" in mine. I've not done this in the past (because I didn't
understand), and have been able to install new Ubuntu versions anyway.
Now it is necessary to get it right.

I think matching those words is all that is needed. Adding
'CRYPTSETUP=y' was not needed.

[Bug 1194002] [NEW] Mesa armhf builds don't depend on libmirclient

2013-10-17 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Have a look at the libegl1-mesa package built for armhf - it doesn't
depend on libmirclient:

$ dpkg -I
libegl1-mesa_9.2~git20130611.761320b1-0ubuntu0+mir3-jenkins81saucy0_armhf.deb
...
Depends: libc6 (>= 2.4), libdrm2 (>= 2.4.25), libgbm1 (>= 7.11~1), libudev1 (>=
183), libwayland-client0 (>= 1.0.2), libwayland-server0 (>= 1.0.2), libx11-6,
libx11-xcb1, libxcb-dri2-0 (>= 1.8), libxcb-xfixes0, libxcb1
...

This causes armhf builds to fail that don't depend on libmirclient, e.g.:
https://launchpadlibrarian.net/143248120/buildlog_ubuntu-saucy-armhf.unity-system-compositor_0.0.1bzr29saucy0.77%2Bbuild2_FAILEDTOBUILD.txt.gz
...
/usr/bin/c++   -g -O2 -fstack-protector --param=ssp-buffer-size=4 -Wformat
-Werror=format-security -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2  -std=c++11 -Wall -O2 -g -DNDEBUG
-Wl,-Bsymbolic-functions -Wl,-z,relro
CMakeFiles/unity-system-compositor.dir/main.cpp.o
CMakeFiles/unity-system-compositor.dir/dm_connection.cpp.o
CMakeFiles/unity-system-compositor.dir/system_compositor.cpp.o -o
../bin/unity-system-compositor -rdynamic -lmirserver -lpthread -lboost_chrono
-lboost_date_time -lboost_filesystem -lboost_system -lboost_thread
-lboost_program_options -lboost_regex -lpthread
/usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libEGL.so.1: undefined reference to
`mir_egl_mesa_display_is_valid'
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
make[3]: *** [bin/unity-system-compositor] Error 1

This works correctly on i386 and amd64.

Could be related in some was to bug 1168989?

The problem started when I was trying to upgrade from ubuntu 13.04 to

from the 13.04 one. The system crashed during the update. I, then,

the "Re-install ubuntu 13.10" option to save my stuf on the 13.04

that message telling me that it's unable to copy files to my hard drive,
suspecting that it could be either too hot or corrupted. I cooled the

[Bug 1241353] [NEW] upgradeto 13.10 fails to calculate changes

2013-10-17 Thread sally
Public bug reported:

I used software updater to try to upgrade to ubuntu 13.10 and had the
following failure:

Could not calculate the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

 This can be caused by:
 * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the command
'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal.

I have unchecked all other software sources.

[Bug 1239782] Re: Zabbix 2.0.6 PHP mysql_connect() deprecated warning

2013-10-17 Thread James
I have this problem to.

WORKAROUND:

Download zabbix-2.0.9 source from their website and replace the contents
of zabbix-2.0.9/frontend/php/ into /usr/share/zabbix/ (rename the old
zabbix to zabbixold). Then log into the web interface. It will have
you go through all the config again, it will generate a zabbix.conf.php
file for you to copy into this directiory, but once a connection is
established to the databse it should restore your frontend without the
error.

know the fusion io block device and I am not sure how to start the grub
now as no file system has been mapped.

If anyone can point me how to find the fusion io device in the uEFI
shell then I can try to load the grub here and see whether install
worked fine or not? Attaching the new grub-installer file with the fix.

No bug here. This package has been removed as obsolete, superseded by
multiarch support. You don't need ia32-libs, you just need to install
the i386 version of the package you want and it will pull in the correct
libraries.

[Bug 1239807] Re: hp-setup components need Qt4, but don't pull it in

2013-10-17 Thread Kevin O'Gorman
I did a fresh install and was able to recreate the problem. I was also
able to see why it didn't work, and what to do. I'll attach the
typescript, but I can summarize pretty well

I started with "gksudo hp-setup" as advised, and got error messages
suggesting trying --qt3 and -i

I tried -i thusly: "gksudo hp-setup -i" and got a long error response.
This is what caused me to file a bug.

What I should have tried was "hp-setup -i" That is, without the
"gksudo"; it asks for a password in a GUI dialog(!) but otherwise
proceeds sanely. Because of the GUI dialog, it might have failed in a
console login, but I didn't try that.

How I should have know that, and why it makes a difference are opaque to
me. They may be opaque to other users. Please give them some help with
more sane advice in the error messages.

The typescript contains the results of three commands (all three fail)
gksudo hp-setup
gksudo hp-setup --qt3
gksudo hp-setup -i

[Bug 1240260] Re: juju bootstrap does not honor https_proxy in environment when fetching tools

2013-10-17 Thread Andrew Wilkins
You should be able to just set http_proxy, and have that work. Go will
honour http_proxy, and do the usual CONNECT method. But, depends on
whether you specifically don't want to proxy HTTP traffic.

We'll need to make changes to our code to support both http_proxy and
https_proxy, or wait for Go to support it.

[Bug 1240211] Re: [wishlist] [solved] .lnk file support

2013-10-17 Thread jpka
Thank you! It work perfectly.

P.S. #1. While it intended for Gnome3, i also test it in old Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.
Some tricks are needed for such Gnome2-based OS, maybe it can be helpful for
someone:

[code]# Emulate 'gsettings' program which is not exist for Gnome2
sudo touch /usr/bin/gsettings
sudo chmod a+rwx /usr/bin/gsettings
sudo echo "echo Humanity" > /usr/bin/gsettings
# Make new folder and config file
mkdir $HOME/.cache/thumbnails
gsettings > $HOME/.cache/thumbnails/gnome-exe-thumbnailer.cfg
# Link new thumbnailer
gconftool-2 --type=bool --set
"/desktop/gnome/thumbnailers/application@x-ms-dos-executable/enable" true
gconftool-2 --type=bool --set
"/desktop/gnome/thumbnailers/application@x-ms-shortcut/enable" true
gconftool-2 --type=string --set
"/desktop/gnome/thumbnailers/application@x-ms-dos-executable/command"
"/usr/bin/gnome-exe-thumbnailer %i %o"
gconftool-2 --type=string --set
"/desktop/gnome/thumbnailers/application@x-ms-shortcut/command"
"/usr/bin/gnome-exe-thumbnailer %i %o"

# Link original thumbnailer if you need it suddenly:
gconftool-2 --type=string --set
"/desktop/gnome/thumbnailers/application@x-ms-dos-executable/command"
"/usr/bin/gnome-exe-thumbnailer.sh %i %o"
gconftool-2 --type=string --set
"/desktop/gnome/thumbnailers/application@x-ms-shortcut/command"
"/usr/bin/gnome-exe-thumbnailer.sh %i %o"[/code]

P.S. #2. It is useful sometimes to create .lnk file from msdos/windows
executable. I use it for tests. There is proprietary program 'xxmklink' exist
for it, it is free for non-profit use: http://www.xxcopy.com/xxcopy38.htm
Place xxmklink.exe to system32 (and to syswow64 folder for x64 OS).
To use it with Ubuntu, i create small glue logic:
[code]sudo touch /usr/bin/mklnk
sudo chmod a+rwx /usr/bin/mklnk
sudo echo 'wname=`winepath -w "$1"` ; wpath=${wname%'$'\047''\'$'\047''*} ;
wdescr=`zenity --entry --text="Enter text description (No empty allowed):"
--entry-text=Description` ; echo *$wname* ; echo *$wpath* ; wine "xxmklink.exe"
"$wname" "$wname" "%1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9" "$wpath" "$wdescr" 1 "$wname":1
| zenity --text-info' > /usr/bin/mklnk [/code]
and for Gnome2, you just select "Use custom command..." from context menu of
your .exe file and type 'mklnk'.
For Gnome3, one may use:
[code]1) use this once:
mimeopen -d '/home/full path/to/your app.exe'
use application # <-- Select (Other...)
use command: mklnk
2) next time use context 'Open with...' menu as in Gnome2 (select mklnk) on
your exe files.[/code]

[Bug 1195483] Re: Installation, Live and Check disc do not start on Asus ZenBook Prime UX31A

2013-10-17 Thread Dennis O'Flaherty
I updated to 13.10 today and installed jsalisbury's packages from
comment #72. Neither his 3.11 kernel, nor the 3.8 kernel from 13.04
work for me. They both show the Ubuntu splash screen for a second or
two and then drop me into the console. Ctrl + Alt + F7 just shows a
blinking cursor.

[Bug 1197921]

2013-10-17 Thread Sandmann-c
Thanks for the test case, that's much appreciated. Just a few comments:

- We might as well extend the existing trap-crasher test instead of
adding a new one that is a near duplicate.

- The test should ideally be added in its own commit before the fix so
that it's easy to verify that the fix actually fixes the test case

- We need all patches to go through the mailing list, including this
updated one. I have added you to the mailman whitelist, so it won't get
stuck in moderation if you send it.

[Bug 1104476] Re: Network manager cannot connect to WPA2/PEAP/MSCHAPv2 network without CA_Certificate

2013-10-17 Thread Chhatoi Pritam Baral
One sane solution would be to let the user choose whether to use the
system CA certs or not. KDE's network manager applet already does this.

I have a patch ready that adds this functionality. For package network-
manager-applet. Tested working on ArchLinux, but there are no changes in
Ubuntu's 9.8.0 and Arch's 9.8.4 among the parts of code that this patch
touches.

My university is in the process of testing out 802.1x for wired
networks, but this bug is a major bottleneck right now as many people
here use Ubuntu 13.04.
