[Bug 1170836] Re: PCIe ASPM disabled while supported

2013-10-18 Thread Bruno Pagani
apport information

** Tags added: saucy

** Description changed:

I'm quite sure that my computer support PCIe ASPM (since I can force it
to be enabled, and gain some watts on consumption), however the kernel
  disable it with this error:

ACPI FADT declares the system doesn't support PCIe ASPM, so disable it

I'm wondering is that could be an issue coming from this (a bit earlier in
the kernel.log):
ACPI Warning: 32/64 FACS address mismatch in FADT - two FACS tables!
(20121018/tbfadt-394)
ACPI BIOS Bug: Warning: 32/64X FACS address mismatch in FADT -
0xBB649F40/0xBB64CD40, using 32 (20121018/tbfadt-521)

I don't know what are relevant informations, so ask me if you would like
any log or me to test anything.

This is not something new, I have this issue for ages but never reported
before.

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2013-10-18 Thread Baekkevold
Egmont: All keys work for me with the update. alt+shift, ctrl+super,
ctrl+shift etc (I dont wanna test every single combo). I notice however,
that it takes a couple of tries to get the key set. Often it is set to
Num Lock for some reason (I do not have the dconf change), but after 2-3
tries it sets properly and works as expected.

[Bug 1238097] Re: Sony Corporation VPCF119HX suspend/resume failure non-free: nvidia

2013-10-18 Thread Adam Colligan
Sorry, I'm not sure I follow; which of the two issues were you asking
about regarding function before Precise?

I've really only been a user since Precise, if I remember correctly.
Suspend and Hibernate have never both functioned. At various points,
using scripts and tricks (mostly kernel module settings a bit over my
head picked up from various forums and ctrl-c ctrl-v'd), I have been
able to temporarily rig one or othe other to work. For a while, I think
during Precise or Quantal, I could suspennd but not hibernate. Under
Raring, for the last few months of the release anyway, after a lot more
time spent fiddling, I could hibernate, but suspend never worked. Since
I did a fresh install of Saucy, neither has ever worked.

The people here ( https://code.google.com/p/vaio-f11-linux/ ) spent some
time trying to make workarounds, mostly active from 2010-2011. The
impression that I get is that most of this no longer works in later
kernels (which maybe have been modified to supposedly provide better
native support?) and that the population of Vaio users now has some
whose machines' power modes work and others (like me) who have mostly
just been driven to give up.

apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected saucy

** Description changed:

Since saucy (which means Gnome 3.8) the Gnome panel (in gnome flashback
without desktop effects) crashes on some occasions.

One occasion seems to be related to displaying the weather with the
panel applet that shows the clock time. If no locations are set up and
weather display is disabled, it seems stable.

- If locations are set up, and the app is set up to display weather, then
- opening the calendar crashes the whole gnome panel.

[Bug 1239686] Re: Internal error while trying to login in Redmine 2.3.1-1

2013-10-18 Thread Chris Monahan
I just want to add that I fixed this issue, credit goes to this page
http://www.redmine.org/boards/1/topics/38777?r=40002

As root, run gem install rack -v 1.4.5
Go to /usr/share/redmine
Edit Gemfile
Third line down (after source) add: gem "rack", "1.4.5"
Then run bundle update (from /usr/share/redmine
Restart apache, and it should work

Of course, don't forget to change the adapter in
/etc/redmine/default/database.yml to:
  adapter: mysql2

(credit for that one goes to bug # 1240705)

[Bug 1224528] Re: python-wxgtk2.8 missing wx.media in ubuntu 13.10

2013-10-18 Thread Fabrice Coutadeur
Hi,

This was intentional, but to be honest with you, I should have created a
"python-wxgtk-media2.8" package for the dependency on media instead of
dropping it completly.

For Ubuntu, it should be enough to disable the patch disable_media_python.patch
and rebuild the package to have a working python package.
I'll check later today if it works and if it's ok, upload a -proposed package.

Fabrice

[Bug 1237392] Re: kernels following version 3.8.0-27 do not start

2013-10-18 Thread Joseph Salisbury
I built the next test kernel, up to the following commit:
b25f2c8b46e9362a633a71f6c1a73cc0af279f2b

The test kernel can be downloaded from:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~jsalisbury/lp1237392

Can you test that kernel and report back if it has the bug or not. I
will build the next test kernel based on your test results.

Thanks in advance

[Bug 1241621] [NEW] Mouse battery menu indicator sticks on (estimating...)

2013-10-18 Thread Dan Gillmor
Public bug reported:

Just upgraded to 13.10, and the power indicator in the menu bar has an
additional item: the mouse battery indicator (in addition to the regular
laptop batter indicator). It is "stuck" on "(estimating...)" and has
been since I started the system. A reboot did not solve it.

I'd like to remove the mouse-battery indicator if it won't report
correctly.

[Bug 1237519] Re: Grub2 fails to install to non-standard device path

2013-10-18 Thread Brandon Hansen
Thank you, Narinder. I will send you an e-mail with instructions for
what you are asking, but basically you need to load our efi driver from
the UEFI shell because the device you have probably doesn't have our
optrom loaded and therefore the system isn't automatically loading the
device driver for you. The basic command for that is 'load
.efi'. I will be sure to send you the correct driver for
that along with instructions.

[Bug 1241614] [NEW] release upgrade failure due to unresolvable problem

2013-10-18 Thread qhaz
Public bug reported:

do-release-upgrade to xubuntu 13.10 aborts with following error.

-

Could not calculate the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

This can be caused by:
* Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
* Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
* Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the
command 'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal.

[Bug 1241608] [NEW] gnome-tweak-tool window not sensitive to font size

2013-10-18 Thread John Winterton
Public bug reported:

gnome-tweak-tool:
  Installed: 3.8.1-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 3.8.1-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 3.8.1-0ubuntu1 0
500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ saucy/universe amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I think I have reported this previously, but it doesn't seem to show up.
This tool and the new unity-tweak-tool:

Description:Ubuntu 13.10
Release:13.10
unity-tweak-tool:
  Installed: 0.0.6
  Candidate: 0.0.6
  Version table:
 *** 0.0.6 0
500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ saucy/universe amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Along with several other system tools windows fail to resize when the
fonts are enlarged. This makes them illegible as the text is then cut
off with dierses (...). The tool is useless if you cannot read the
captions in the label widgets.

Further, these windows are not resizable, so there is no remedy by that
means.

Since it has occured with increasing frequency on recent releases, I
believe this is the result of the use of a template that is poorly
designed without the appropriate resizing handles and options set.

Beyond acknowlegement, Canonical has been unresponsive to these reports.
Visually impared users are considerably disadvantaged by this
programming error. This may be an upstream problem, and should be
communicated to Debian if that is so. Some programmer, perhaps long
gone, has been careless.

[Bug 1241612] [NEW] 'service ddclient stop' doesn't work

2013-10-18 Thread qji
Public bug reported:

Environment:
Ubuntu 12.04 64bit
ddclient version: 3.8.0-11.4ubuntu1

'service ddclient stop' command doesn't stop the ddclient daemon, and then the
'service ddclient start' doesn't realize the ddclient is already started, so it
starts a new one. If you try many stop/start it will make many ddclient
processes.

In the /etc/init.d/ddclient script the stop part tries this:
start-stop-daemon --stop --quiet --retry=TERM/30/KILL/5 \
--pidfile $PIDFILE --name $NAME

I tried the same in command line (without --quiet):

# start-stop-daemon --stop --retry=TERM/30/KILL/5 --pidfile
/var/run/ddclient.pid --name ddclient
No ddclient found running; none killed.

And it didn't stop the ddclient

But it works without the --name option:

# start-stop-daemon --stop --retry=TERM/30/KILL/5 --pidfile
/var/run/ddclient.pid

No output, but ddclient is stopped.

2013-10-18 Thread Orionds
The problem for me seems to have disappeared with later upgrades in
12.04 (12.04.2 & 12.04.3). So far, no problem with 13.04. Just installed
13.10. Have yet to test printing with on the Ricoh MPC 2051.

According to the suggestions here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage#Graphical_Environment I assume
that the problem comes from the libdrm packages.
I reboot my system and end up with black screens after the boot display.
Restarting in recovery mode and choosing boot in safe graphic mode did not work.
I had to restart the system and boot in recovery mode, remove all AMD drivers,
reinstall the default basic display driver and reboot. The system then boot and
gave me back access to the login page. I then reinstall the last version of the
the AMD drivers (that were installed and running fine before).

I upgraded yesterday and was hit with this this morning. Why was it
removed, and, more importantly, what is the solution? This is not my

[Bug 1241465] Re: do-release-upgrade fails when using update-alternatives to provide different versions of /usr/bin/python

2013-10-18 Thread Daniel Ricao Canelhas
so, in /DistUpgrade/DistUpgradeController.py

after line 381, inserting something like this would possibly patch this
bug:

while os.path.islink(fs_default_version) :
fs_default_version = os.readlink(fs_default_version)

It would be an endless loop if links are circular though. Adding a counter for
a maximum depth is one way out...
Another would be to add the visited links to a list and checking it to see if
the current link is already in the list. If so. break and return an error of
some sort. But it would be a very unusual configuration to find.

[Bug 1154814] Re: ubuntu 13.04 gnome-panel shows the Applications and Places menu in the top bar together without a space in-between them.

2013-10-18 Thread pcworld
The patch e.g. breaks spacing between application launchers put in the
top panel (what's happened to absolute positioning anyway?).

[Bug 1241604] [NEW] File contains conflict markers

2013-10-18 Thread Oscar Fuentes
Public bug reported:

This is Kubuntu 13.10 AMD64.

The file /usr/share/kde4/services/muon-knsplasmoids-backend.desktop
contains conflict markers. At line 110:

<<< HEAD

>>> 2.0
X-KDE-Library=muon-knsbackend

Due to some other (possibly unrelated) problem I was forced to run

kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental

which complained

"KConfigIni: In file
