[Bug 1205384] Re: Lock can be circumvented by switching to console
Well, #19 describes a workaround, but it requires using a package from a PPA repository https://launchpad.net/~light-locker/+archive/release . Another workaround that uses a package from Universe repository of Ubuntu and works around Bug #1229486, too, is here: Install suckless- tools, edit /usr/bin/lxlock to run slock insead of any other locking utility (or add a script named lxlock at /usr/local/bin/ to run slock). Note that slock does not even display password prompt, but a blank screen you have to type password in, and there is no way to swit. xlock would be better, but xlockmore package containing it is no more available in Ubuntu repositories. Neither of those work with xfce4 -power-manager that uses xscreensaver, which have to be run as a daemon; if you are going to suspend/hibernate+lock by xfce4-power-manager, you have to autostart xfce4-power-manager (edit in lxsession-edit) and xscreensaver (how?) and then you may want to use "xscreensaver-command -lock" in lxlock, instead of slock. xscreensaver allows new login. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1205384 Title: Lock can be circumvented by switching to console To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/1205384/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1240336] Re: Not authorized to perform operation....
Well, it works for installing packages from software center (auth dialog appears), still fails silently sometimes (for example when I try to remove software source PPA). I also created a new admin user, by running sudo gnome-control-center -> Users & Groups. For that user everything works fine. [Bug 1242245] [NEW] No longer respects xfconf's xsettings/Gtk/ColorScheme property
Public bug reported: I don't know what underlying mechanics are targeted by xfconf's xsettings/Gtk/ColorScheme property, but GTK 3 applications no longer care about it. In 13.04, I used to be able to change the colors of both GTK 2 and GTK 3 themes all with just that property, but now only GTK 2 applications respect that property. To reproduce: On an XFCE system like Xubuntu, use xfce4-settings-editor to edit the Gtk/ColorScheme property in the xsettings channel. Set it to something like "bg_color:#ff;" (or any background color not used by your theme that you will easily notice is different). Notice immediately that the background color of your GTK 2 windows have changed. Now, open any GTK 3 application like file-roller, gcalctool, or update-manager. Expected Result: The background color of the GTK 3 window has changed, and thus GTK 3 applications match GTK 2 applications. What Happens Instead: The ColorScheme property is ignored and the applications don't match. [Bug 1242243] [NEW] In fullscreen, the buttons/overlays do not appear
Public bug reported: This may be targetting the wrong thing because they do appear on another computer. Anyway: 1. Play video in Totem 2. Double click to fullscreen said video 3. Move mouse. What happens: Nothing. What is expected: Overlays displaying the scrubber, pause, and leave fullscreen options/buttons should appear. Now, as I said, I DO NOT have this issue on another computer with Saucy installed. This issue also exists on Raring on the machine it's being reported on. [Bug 1242214] Re: Initial encrypted password does not show characters and will not let me any further, have to boot in older version.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1242214/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. I also have the same problem. It worked fine on 10.04 LTS, but not on 12.04. My palm is a Tungsten E2. [Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.
On a clean Saucy install (Russian layout selected during setup) with the attente PPA, I have the same behaviour as Valery Kozlov described in comment #122. No matter if the switch hotkeys are enabled or disabled in the GUI, I can still switch layouts with ALT+SHIFT. Strangely, this layout configuration comes from "keyboard-configuration" package. This is the setxkbmap output on a clean system: ~$ setxkbmap -print -verbose Trying to build keymap using the following components: keycodes: evdev+aliases(qwerty) types: complete compat: complete+ledscroll(group_lock) symbols:pc+ru+us:2+inet(evdev)+group(alt_shift_toggle) geometry: pc(pc105) xkb_keymap { xkb_keycodes { include "evdev+aliases(qwerty)" }; xkb_types { include "complete" }; xkb_compat{ include "complete+ledscroll(group_lock)"}; xkb_symbols { include "pc+ru+us:2+inet(evdev)+group(alt_shift_toggle)"}; xkb_geometry { include "pc(pc105)" }; }; Running 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration' affects the setxkbmap output later, so the console keyboard config clearly makes its way into X (conflicting with the ibus configuration). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1218322 Title: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc. To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1218322/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1242229] [NEW] unity-panel-service uses 3% to 5% of one CPU core all the time

I have tried adjusting the kernel options acpi_osi= and acpi_backlight= (that did work with 12.10) to make it work but to no avail. + + WORKAROUND: echo 20 > /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04 Package: linux-image-generic 3.8.0.21.37 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.8.0-21.32-generic 3.8.8 Uname: Linux 3.8.0-21-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.9.2-0ubuntu8 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: thomasc2007 F pulseaudio Date: Mon May 20 12:45:35 2013 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=2acc4a8c-a645-4f3c-bc8e-5c7a9d9df417 InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-04-11 (38 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-GNOME 13.04 "Raring Ringtail" - Alpha amd64 (20130410) MachineType: Acer Aspire V5-431 MarkForUpload: True ProcFB: 0 inteldrmfb ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.8.0-21-generic root=UUID=4cfdb2ed-677a-4fd0-aa7d-5b118700bd35 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 RelatedPackageVersions: linux-restricted-modules-3.8.0-21-generic N/A linux-backports-modules-3.8.0-21-generic N/A linux-firmware1.106 SourcePackage: linux UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 12/12/2012 dmi.bios.vendor: Phoenix Technologies Ltd. dmi.bios.version: V1.20 dmi.board.asset.tag: No Asset Tag dmi.board.name: Aspire V5-431 dmi.board.vendor: Acer dmi.board.version: V1.20 dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Tag dmi.chassis.type: 9 dmi.chassis.vendor: Acer dmi.chassis.version: V1.20 dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnPhoenixTechnologiesLtd.:bvrV1.20:bd12/12/2012:svnAcer:pnAspireV5-431:pvrV1.20:rvnAcer:rnAspireV5-431:rvrV1.20:cvnAcer:ct9:cvrV1.20: dmi.product.name: Aspire V5-431 dmi.product.version: V1.20 dmi.sys.vendor: Acer ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium => Low -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1181927 Title: [Aspire V5-431]13.04: Brightness control visible but does nothing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1181927/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1066376] Re: keyboard doesn't work to enter password with panda and encrypted partitions ubuntu
I too, have the same problem with Ubuntu 13.10, so I'm having to reinstall 13.04. Well, Microsoft will be glad to see that they're not the only ones with extremely embarrassing goof ups. This is BAD considering that it's happened before. I won't be "upgrading" Ubuntu again any time soon. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1066376 Title: keyboard doesn't work to enter password with panda and encrypted partitions ubuntu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/base-installer/+bug/1066376/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
