Re: [Bug 1244713] Re: invalid syntax for check_ssh plugin

2013-10-27 Thread cyco
Wow, that was quick, good job guys =)

Until now, in Ubuntu nothing happened. This fix only exist in Debian
and needs to be merged and pushed into 13.10.
The Status changed to Fix Rleased cause lanchpad detected the
referenced Debian bug is marked as fixed.

Anyways ... the question is: Why didn't got the package fixed _before_
the release of 13.10 as the nagios-plugins 1.4.16-3 was uploaded to
Debian on 23th Aug, with just only bugfixes (one fixing a bug reported
in Ubuntu). This is a sign for a very bad release strategy in my eyes.

[Bug 1236462] Re: [SRU] update openstack packages to 2013.2 release tarballs

2013-10-27 Thread Miklos Juhasz
** Description changed:

Openstack 2013.2 will release on October 17, 2013.
- Ubuntu 13.04 will release on October 17, 2013.
+ Ubuntu 13.10 will release on October 17, 2013.

That means that we're basically guaranteed to not have 2013.2 official
release tarballs in Ubuntu.
This bug is a place holder for all the openstack packages that will need
updating to the official release tarballs.

stop on runlevel [!2345]

p.s.
1) The order of started cups and net-device-up is important!!!

[Bug 1241202] Verification report.

2013-10-27 Thread Adam Gandelman
Please find the attached test log from the Ubuntu Server Team's CI
infrastructure. As part of the verification process for this bug, the
OpenStack components have been deployed and configured across multiple
nodes using raring-proposed as an installation source. After successful
bring-up and configuration of the cluster, a number of exercises and
smoke tests have be invoked to ensure the updated package did not
introduce any regressions. A number of test iterations were carried out
to catch any possible transient errors.

These proposed packages were deployed and tested in several different
configurations. Attached are tarballs with various test logs from each
configuration. In addition to the base components, variables in
deployments include:

raring_grizzly_nova-network:
- nova-network (FlatDHCP)
- glance (Ceph backend)
- cinder (Ceph backend)

raring_grizzly_iscsi:
- nova-network (FlatDHCP)
- glance (local backend)
- cinder (iSCSI backend)

raring_grizzly_quantum:
- quantum (OVS plugin)
- glance (Ceph backend)
- nova-volume (Ceph backend)

Please note the versions_tested file in each tarball, which contains
details about relevant package versions installed and tested.

For records of upstream test coverage of this update, please see the individual
bug reports.
As per the provisional Micro Release Exception granted to this package by the
Technical Board, we hope this contributes toward verification of this update.

[Bug 1231447] Re: Alt+Print Screen only takes picture of the HUD

2013-10-27 Thread Sebastian J. Bronner
I modified the description to replace launcher with HUD, as that is
specifically what is popping up.

** Summary changed:

- Alt+Print Screen only takes picture of launcher
+ Alt+Print Screen only takes picture of the HUD

** Description changed:

In 13.10, pressing Alt+Print Screen always takes a screenshot of the
- launcher and not of the active window.
+ HUD and not of the active window.

This was fixed in 13.04, ref. bug number 1072199.

  To replicate:
  1. Start a program such as gedit.
  2. Press Alt+PrintScreen

- * What happens: gnome-screenshot takes a screenshot of the Launcher (due to
the Dash that gets invoked).
+ * What happens: gnome-screenshot takes a screenshot of the HUD (due to the
Dash that gets invoked).
  * What should happen: gnome-screenshot should take a screenshot of just the
gedit window

Public bug reported:

When I close the lid and open it, I get a blinking text mode cursor on

Further this happens in both CLI mode and Graphics mode.

** Description changed:

- When I close the lid and open it, I get a blinking text mode cursor on

[Bug 1245119] [NEW] Need automatically re-shape partitions

2013-10-27 Thread Guillermo Daniel Müller
Public bug reported:

[Bug 875878] Re: Easymp3gain Hangs when clicking Add File or Add Folder

2013-10-27 Thread Mossroy
Thanks Matthias for the suggestion.
I'm using Ubuntu 12.04.3 (64 bits) and tried the packages from Saucy.

The GTK version can not be installed easily because of its dependency on a
newer version of libpango.
But the Qt version can be installed easily and worked for me.

So here is the workaround I used :
- uninstall package easymp3gain-gtk from your system
- download packages easymp3gain-qt and esaymp3gain-data from saucy (currently
version 0.5.0+svn135-4) : http://packages.ubuntu.com/saucy/easymp3gain-qt and
http://packages.ubuntu.com/saucy/easymp3gain-data
- install them

[Bug 1245124] [NEW] Please remove trafshow from trusty

2013-10-27 Thread Logan Rosen
Public bug reported:

The trafshow binary is also provided by the netdiag source package (the
same version of it, at that), which also happens to be in Debian. This
is causing a lot of installation conflicts, as you can see in the bugs
for both this package and for netdiag. I think it would be advantageous
to remove this package in favor of netdiag accordingly.

[Bug 1199877] Re: unity-panel-service memory leak and 100% CPU usage

2013-10-27 Thread Suor
I found another simple method to make unity-panel-service eat 100% CPU:
1. Open Sublime Text 3.
2. Switch keyboard layout fast many times.

Keyboard indicator works at first, but then starts to lag behind and
stops switching (keyboard layout is still switched, so it's only
indicator). While indicator hangs unity-panel-service eats 100% CPU.

This started after 13.10 upgrade.

2013/10/26 Brian Murray br...@ubuntu.com

Reviewing the files from your upgrade attempt you seem to have enabled
the xorg-edgers-ppa. This will prevent the upgrade as that PPA contains
different versions of packages essential to Ubuntu. The page,

how to revert to the official Xorg packages.

[Bug 1242271] Re: package shim-signed 1.3+0.4-0ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2013-10-27 Thread Денис
Sorry, I don't understand what you mean here. Do you mean you do have the
grub-efi-amd64 package installed, or you don't have it installed?

Yes, this package installed.

The Windows bootloader will not boot anything not signed by the Microsoft
key, even if Secure Boot is disabled in the firmware. If your Ubuntu
install has not yet been set up for Secure Boot, you will need to disable
Secure Boot, and manually choose Ubuntu from a firmware boot menu.

My Ubuntu worked fine with Secure Boot in 13.04. But now in 13.10 if I
enable secure boot in BIOS, I have Invalid EUFI signature error.

If you installed grub-efi-amd64, did you also try again to install
shim-signed after that? This should be the last step to enable Secure Boot
on your Ubuntu install.

Yes, this package also installed.

I'll close this if no one experience other problems.

In my case, I followed
gedit /usr/share/doc/dictionaries-common/README.problems
# Debconf database corruption

To make it short :
/usr/share/debconf/fix_db.pl
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade

FYI, I also removed dictionnaries-common entry in /var/lib/dpkg/status,
followed by a failing apt-get install dictionnaries-common, I think it's
not usefull.

[Bug 1245128] [NEW] Apport-collect needs webbrowser to access launchpad

[Bug 1195705] Re: fglrx kernel module fails to build on kernel 3.10 [error: implicit declaration of function ‘create_proc_entry’]

2013-10-27 Thread Simon Tost
From DDMSBuildLog.txt:
/var/lib/dkms/fglrx/13.101/build/2.6.x/drm_proc.h:98:2: error: implicit
declaration of function ‘create_proc_entry’
[-Werror=implicit-function-declaration]

This also happens during manual install of fglrx packages generated by
the downloadable [1] ati driver script in version 13.4.

Due to this rather unrelated post [2] the call to 'create_proc_entry' is
deprecated and aparantly no longer available with kernel version 3.10.

Installing fglrx beta version 13.11 of the above mentioned driver script
does not display this problem but completes the installation.

2013-10-27 Thread Jan Gerhardsen Formanek
Hello and thank you for your interest,
What do I do exactly:
I log in with user no.1, work a little and then log out.
Then user no.2 comes along, logs in with her user, works a little and then
logs out again.
I then return to my laptop and attempt login with my user no.1. This fails
and after the login screen I get a black screen with command cursor
blinking forever in eternity in the top left corner.
Please find attached dmidecode and lspci output

[Bug 1245119] Re: Need automatically re-shape partitions

2013-10-27 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. I noticed that you are installing an older version of
Ubuntu, unless you have some specific requirements to run an older
release I recommend trying to install the latest LTS version of Ubuntu.
We released version 12.04, in April of 2012, and it is a Long Term
Support release. You can find different ways to obtain it at
http://download.ubuntu.com. In the event that you really want to run
the older version of Ubuntu please set this bug's status back to New.
Thanks!

[Bug 1212592] Re: hang of pulseaudio on medion pc

2013-10-27 Thread Jori Gel
** Description changed:

pulseaudio hangs during start of a couple of medion pcs in our lab. We
are running ltsp on all ws but the error exists on natively installed
ubuntu as well. Natty was able to play spound without a hang on this
hardware. This - most probably I guess - has something to do with the
hdmi-sound card on board(?) , because pulseaudio hangs in all newer
  versions of ubuntu after Natty.

Unfortunately every sound related program like e.g. the firefox starts
waiting in a gray inactive window also, as soon as a sound appears to be
played in it. So due to this fact these wss revealed to be unusable.

Important information about the hardware caught by alsa, alsamixer (with
recognized onboard sound cards), asound modules, lshw and lspci could be
- found at http://servmin.homelinux.org/7SGopYpVf1jS7DIZJ4i25743S8 .
- . .
+ found at http://servmin.org/7SGopYpVf1jS7DIZJ4i25743S8 . . .

We created a workaround that circuits around the effect and avoids the
error for people who run into the same problem (also usable in
  ltsp.conf as a ltsp-start-script for a particular ws):

  --- begin
  #!/bin/bash

##
  # bootscript for ltsp-clients on medion-pcs with different follow up
  # of sound-cards and pulse-audio sound manager being switched off

##
  . /etc/profile
  echo autospawn=no /etc/pulse/client.conf
  echo defaults.pcm.card 1 /etc/asound.conf
  echo defaults.pcm.device 0 /etc/asound.conf
  echo defaults.ctl.card 1 /etc/asound.conf
  alsa reload
  --- end

it works on all the effected wss.

We waited for an update to solve the problem but the fact that all newer
versions cannot handle this hardware lets us file this bug finally.

Thank You for Your attention :)

[Bug 969489] Re: lightdm tries (and fails) to start too early?

2013-10-27 Thread Id2ndR
I got better result using default lightdm greeter instead of ubuntu's one.
Maybe this can help others.
sudo apt-get purge lightdm
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop
sudo apt-get install lightdm-gtk-greeter
If lightdm-gtk-greeter is installed, you will not be able to start neither
ubuntu-greeter, nor default gtk greeter. After the installation of the
gtk-greeter, ligthdm will default to this one.

[Bug 1245064] Re: Keyboard Layout Options window is missed in gnome-control-center keyboard

2013-10-27 Thread Norbert
** Description changed:

In next six month 14.04 will be prepared and arrived. It's LTS. So users
of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS may want to update to it.

What they have now (in Ubuntu 12.04.3)?
They have very wide choose of available hotkeys for layout change. Let's see.
In Ubuntu 12.04.3, under gnome-control-center keyboard we have (select tab
Typing, click on link Layout Settings in left bottom corner of window,
press the Options button in the bottom right corner of window, window
Keyboard Layout Options is opened).

This window allows user to set many options.
It allows to set the following:
Adding currency signs to certain keys
   Adding Esperanto circumflexes (supersigno)
   Alt/Win key behavior
   Caps Lock key behavior
   Compose key position
   Ctrl key position
   Japanese keyboard options
Key sequence to kill the X server
   Key(s) to change layout
   Key to choose 3rd level
   Key to choose 5th level
   Miscellaneous compatibility options
   Numeric keypad delete key behavior
   Numeric keypad layout selection
Use keyboard LED to show alternative layout
Using space key to input non-breakable space character

In Ubuntu 13.10 this setup window is missing.
So user will be unable to adjust many layout switching parameters.

For example, under Key(s) to change layout this window has:
  Alt+Caps Lock
  Alt+Ctrl
  Alt+Shift
  Alt+Space
  Any Win key (while pressed)
  Both Alt keys together
  Both Ctrl keys together
  Both Shift keys together
  Caps Lock
Caps Lock (to first layout), Shift+Caps Lock (to last layout)
Caps Lock (while pressed), Alt+Caps Lock does the original capslock action
  Ctrl+Shift
  Left Alt
  Left Alt+Left Shift
  Left Alt (while pressed)
  Left Ctrl
  Left Ctrl+Left Shift
Left Ctrl+LeftWin (to first layout), RightCtrl+Menu (to second layout)
Left Ctrl (to first layout), Right Ctrl (to last layout)
  Left Shift
  Left Win
Left Win (to first layout), Right Win/Menu (to last layout)
  Left Win (while pressed)
  Menu
  Right Alt
  Rigth Alt (while pressed)
  Right Ctrl
  Right Ctrl+Right Shift
  Right Ctrl (while pressed)
  Right Shift
  Right Win
  Right Win (while pressed)
  Scroll Lock
  Shift+Caps Lock
This list is very long but universal. Defined hotkeys are full-functional.
For example if I set Ctrl+Shift for layout changing I can copy and paste in
gnome-terminal with Ctrl+Shift+C / V.
I do not want to post other Keyboard Layout Options features, that missed
in 13.10. But they are of course missed.
- What we have now in 13.10 (ppa or proposed)?
+ What we have now in 13.10 (ppa:attente/1218322 or proposed)?
We have simple shortcuts (for example Alt+Shift and Ctrl+Shift) and do not
have other.

This bug report will be a table of contents of all issues, that are
called from this window and are broken/missed in Ubuntu 13.10. For
example, we can detect and report separate bugreports for each hotkey
which does not work correctly in 13.10.

Keyboard layout switching is most important and most essential
  functionality.

IMHO. I do not agree with GNOME simpilicity/stupidity modern style and I hope
that 14.04 will be polished and full-functional as Precise Pangolin. I
understand that some of the keyboard layout switch options are available in
gnome-tweak-tool, but it is not right place for them. Layout switching is a
common feature, there is no reason to hide it under not-preinstalled tool.
Let's make Trusty Tahr the greatest Ubuntu LTS release!

[Bug 1236937] Re: wifi connection drop (b43 eapol timeout)

2013-10-27 Thread monochromec
Problem is gone after a complete fresh install of Saucy Salamander on
the same machine.

I suspect a problem between the b43 kernel driver and the proprietary
firmware as I noticed a different URL when running
firmware-b43-installer as part of the wireless installation. The
previous installation of the machine dates back to Precise so quite a
few update cycles were done.

If somebody upstream wants to have more details, please update this bug
so that I can get in touch.

[Bug 1244548] Re: Keyboard shortcut for changing keyboard layout does not work on lock screen

2013-10-27 Thread Egmont Koblinger
Confirmed. Moreover:
- I can't see any rationale behind not showing the switcher if it's at English.
Definitely looks like buggy behavior rather than good design, leaving the user
clueless why it's sometimes shown and sometimes not. For starter, I'd like to
see confirmation that the layout is English. And maybe I prefer to type my
password in the other layout.
- The indicator looks like a text label. Nothing indicates that it's clickable.
It should look like a button, or dropdown, or such.
- Similarly, it can't be activated from the keyboard (Tab to move focus there,
Enter/Space to toggle).

[Bug 1242109] Re: Ubuntu System Settings - default applications not working properly

2013-10-27 Thread Homayoon
I have this bug too
Some times I can't set default applications neither in System
SettingDetailsDefault Applications nor with right click on the file and
select the default application in properties dialog.

I checked the mimeapps.list file in ~/.local/share/applications/,
and saw by every try to set default application, it doesn't edited as it
should.

Package: gnome-control-center 1:3.6.3-0ubuntu44
Uname: Linux 3.11.0-12-generic x86_64
