[Bug 1208019] Re: Eclipse menus doesn't show up in Saucy
As a follow up to my previous comment: Unfortunately, adding "eclipse" to the blacklist (in addition to "Eclipse") only works for 32 bit because in 64 bit, the eclipse process forks a java process. Since the blacklist works on the executable name, that would mean blacklisting all java programs which would be overkill. It looks like the real solution will be to make the global menu work. Here are my observations looking into blacklisting: 13.04: - g_set_prgname is called first with "eclipse" when showing the splash screen - A few seconds later g_set_prgname is called again with "Eclipse", from some java code - Then, when a gtk_combo_box is constructed, the menu_proxy_module gets loaded and the blacklist is checked using g_get_prgname, "Eclipse" matches 13.10 (32 bit): - g_set_prgname is called first with "eclipse" when showing the splash screen - In the same call to show the splash screen, gtk_module gets initialized and the blacklist is checked using g_get_prgname, "eclipse" doesn't match "Eclipse" - Then a few seconds later g_set_prgname is called again with "Eclipse", from some java code 13.10 (64 bit): - g_set_prgname is called first with "java" when showing the splash screen - In the same call to show the splash screen, gtk_module gets initialized and the blacklist is checked using g_get_prgname, "java" doesn't match "Eclipse" - Then a few seconds later g_set_prgname is called again with "Eclipse", from some java code -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1208019 Title: Eclipse menus doesn't show up in Saucy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eclipse/+bug/1208019/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1232419] Re: [xsettings]: gnome-settings-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in notify_have_shell()
Seb, so from the stacktrace the problem seems to be that have_notify_shell is being called after managers is destroyed. the changes 1. moving unwatch dbus to before xsettings_manager_destroy(): seems there is small chance of a race here if the shell disappears while manager is being destroyed. 2. if (manager->priv->managers == NULL), possibly not needed if 1. was the cause of the crash, but added it to be safe, since there is nothing to do but crash in this case. 3. change dbus name, unity spoofs org.gnome.shell, so actually notify_have_shell would have be getting called twice on startup/shutdown of unity. Not upstreamable 4. Only call notify_have_shell if the have_[shell/unity] values have changed. Upstream already do this however its a bit simpler in their case since they only have a single have_shell. The fact that upstream even do this, makes me think its possible for the callbacks to be fired multiple times or when not required. [Bug 1246947] [NEW] fwts-efi-runtime-dkms 0.26.08-0ubuntu1: fwts-efi-runtime-dkms kernel module failed to build
Public bug reported: This is a build out of ricotz/testing thanks to them and linux my new OS is trashed! Why Part is denied by Ubuntu/raring/main since it is some experimental reject. I was under the stupid assumption that these testing pieces were functional so I built an OS with what I thought was to contain the Gnome 3.10 desktop. Wrong, wrong wrong. Even though the shell was 3.10 the rest was 3.8 just something Gnome can not get right! I had the same issue last time I built, half 3.6 half 3.8. Worked half of the time but not all the time. I hope others read this and consider a boycott on ricotz/testing since their files simply do not work! 3 days ago while building all showed perfectly installed. When I got to the desktop, no difference from 3.8. Next, nothing worked, too many pieces were missing. I found which pieces were missing, installed them and still the desktop was barely functional. Gnome Tweak did not work and tons of crash messages since parts simply did not match up! This is terrible for people that call themselves developers not to be able to keep these files straight so they can properly assemble into a usable desktop. When you have the 3 ppa's from Gnome is exactly like having the 3 stooges. Actually, I think the 3 stooges would know how to put parts together better than this! I am very upset as I have fought for 4 days straight to fix these issues and come up empty handed. I have 4 gigs worth of disk that is not even good enough to be a coaster since this faulty part makes it difficult to begin installing the system! This was to be a build of 13.04 raring with desktops Gnome 3.10, XFCE4, LXDE, KDE and CInnamon 2.0. Nothing but trash now! When pressing "ctrl+c" = copy command and "ctrl+v" = paste command. When I change the input layout to greek "Ctrl+Greek psi" (same keys as "ctrl+c") should be also copy command and "Ctrl+Greek omega" (same keys as "ctrl+v") should be also paste command. 4) When using english input layout, it works. When using greek input layout, Ubuntu recognizes it as copy or paste keys (tested on copying files in nautilus and it works fine). BUT, when using greek layout inside Libreoffice "Ctrl+Greek psi" and "Ctrl+Greek omega" are dead keys: nothing happens no matter how many times I tested it. ps. I waited for libreoffice to be updated before I post this issue hoping that it should be fixed. Now, although I upgraded to libreoffice 4.1.3.2 problem still remains.
