[Bug 739184] Re: [Libreoffice] Mnemonics do not work in Unity
Confirming that the workaround from comment #52 works, making the Alt+key shortcuts ("mnemonics", if you must abuse the English language) work happily in Unity in Ubuntu 13.04. To recap and update slightly, do this: 1. Completely remove LibreOffice: sudo apt-get purge libreoffice* 2. Go to www.libreoffice.org and download the correct .deb.tar.gz for your OS, either 32 or 64 bit. 3. Unzip the file. 4. Change to the DEBS directory in the unzipped archive: cd [name of newly-created directory]/DEBS 5. Install every one of the sebs as superuser: sudo dpkg -i *.deb To test, at the prompt type libreoffice and press Tab. As of 10 November 2013, the above process installs a program called libreoffice4.1, but presumably the name will change with the version. I can report that: - unlike the standard LO, this one responds when you press Alt+F, Alt+E and so on; - it also handles the defined shortcuts as expected, for example Ctrl+D is fill down (which it isn't in OpenOffice, unless you change it - I hated that!); - unlike standard LO with the libreoffice-gtk package removed, this does allow the window to work properly (eg maximise, minimise, etc) and uses the proper Open dialog box and so on; - unlike OpenOffice, this doesn't have the irritating display bug where every item you select from a dropdown or type in an edit field remains and the fields get steadily darker as they're used because, apparently, the function to clear the rectangle before updating it is broken -- this may be an NVIDIA issue, but it's irritating nonetheless and I'm glad it's gone. - the menus aren't integrated with the Macintosh-like top bar of Unity, which I don't care about but YMMV. Only downside appears to be the icons for the software, which look like a standard Windows 3.1-era "text file" icon. Meh, I can live with a little ugliness. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/739184 Title: [Libreoffice] Mnemonics do not work in Unity To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/df-libreoffice/+bug/739184/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1245473] Re: Binding ctrl+shift, alt+shift, etc for switching keyboard layout makes shortcuts with ctrl+shift, etc not working in any program
Highly important for blender. Blender uses all kind of keyboard shortcuts: ctrl+alt+key, ctrl+shift+key, ctrl+alt+key, ctrl+alt+shift+key, control+space, shift+space, alt+space, ctrl+alt+space... There is an alternative way to get access to these functions, but shortcuts are essential in blender (like in vim). [Bug 987060] Re: massive memory leak in unity-panel-service and hud-service when invoking the hud on Firefox profiles with large amounts of bookmarks
Gimp seems to be causing lots of problems. Right now unity-panel- service is sitting at around 343 MB (it was in the 200s a few minutes ago after running gimp for a little while, but re-opening it increased the memory by about 100MB). It seems whenever the menu is accessed it increases memory usage slightly. I should also point out that the menu has started to behave very sluggish, and using up 100% of one of my cores. Gedit also seems to do this while editing either lots, or very large files. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/987060 Title: massive memory leak in unity-panel-service and hud-service when invoking the hud on Firefox profiles with large amounts of bookmarks To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/indicator-appmenu/+bug/987060/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 1226349] Re: Printing from windows client in Ubuntu 13.04 stopped.
Hi Just returned from vacation and found your email. I am not technical enough to do what you ask. I could rebuild an engine, and was a programmer analyst, but after reading some feedback comments, this is too scary (the risks) for me. Floppy drive doesn't work. Why are there no executables like Windows? The problem with the remote client printing broke during my installed 12 LTS. I figured an update release was at fault. I applied the fix for Sudo, ( for an old guy like me, these names are tough to adjust too), but as you know, the problem is still there. It still doesn't work with the latest 13 release. sigh.. Sleep mode doesn't work since 12 LTS either; noticed that version 0406 will fix that (Fix the system may lead to auto resume when going into sleep mode with PS2 mouse.) I guess I am too scared to apply the bios upgrade. Too many steps. Too many physical external file devices. Richard. On 13-10-26 02:02 PM, Christopher M. [Bug 1249719] [NEW] Kernel oops - BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at 0000000000000030; IP: [] touch_atime+0x17/0x140
Public bug reported: Since 3.11.0-13-generic, I've been encountering the following kernel oops. I can trigger it quite reliably by watching full-screen videos on YouTube using google-chrome (Version 31.0.1650.48) for roughly 10 minutes. Once the oops happens, the system remains up, but certain programs (like top) start hanging and a reboot is needed to restore full functionality. I've tried using 3.12.0-999-generic (3.12.0-999.201311080433), but get the same problem there. I don't get the oops when booting into 3.11.0-12-generic, so I suspect the problem was introduced in 3.11.0-13-generic (especially since I see there were some changes made related to the shmat system call). Attached is the oops from dmesg. The EIP location and stack-trace are identical for all the oops I've seen so far. [Bug 1068404] Re: Low graphics mode in muxless hybrid ATI/Intel GPU systems after fglrx upgrade
I'm hitting this bug, and I can't get any of the workarounds to work. I'm on Kubuntu Saucy, and I've tried fglrx, fglrx-updates, fglrx from x-edgers (https://launchpad.net/~xorg- edgers/+archive/ppa?field.series_filter=saucy), and three versions of the AMD binary driver (13.4, 13.9, and 13.11 beta). Nothing works, I get segfaults with everything, straight after it tries to load GLX (the segfault byte identifier is different each time, but I guess that could be because of un-related code changes). I didn't try the andrikos version (https://launchpad.net/~andrikos/+archive/ppa) because it's not available for saucy. [Bug 1116315] Re: Sound recording with Ubuntu 12 on EeePC 1001PX
I was disappointed to find that on both 13.04 and 13.10 that Sound Recorder is still broken. It looks like we don't have a maintainer. Audacity does work so at least we have a work around. My Grandson uses Sound Recorder to practice his Saxaphone and it is used for other purposes as well by me. It is still downloadable via the Software Center so I would make a plea for some kind person who knows how to debug and fix this simple and easy to use application. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1116315 Title: Sound recording with Ubuntu 12 on EeePC 1001PX To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sound-recorder/+bug/1116315/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1249705] [NEW] HDMI output not available in 13.10
Public bug reported: Hello, My issue here is with the HDMI output, it is non existent. I have had no issues with earlier versions of Ubuntu from 10.x, 12.04 LTS and 13.04. Even the original distro which was originally on this HTPC, Susse. I have researched all avenues for a remedy to my issue including #ALSA, #Pulseaudio and #Ubuntu IRCs. Some have mention it is possibly a kernel issue. I do have audio via S/PDIF which is stereo only. I did not upgrade the existing version; which most would, I have done a clean install of Ubuntu 13.10. Everything is working fine except for my audio issues. HDMI output is not showing in either ALSA or Pavucontrol. On the previous versions of Ubuntu I had many options of Digital 5.1 surround ouputs including HDMI. All that is available now for surround sound is analog options. In the Sound configuration panel I only have Digital Output (S/PDIF)Built-in Audio and Analog Output Built-in Audio which are only Stereo, HDMI is now missing in 13.10 I have tried so many apparent fixes in various forums which included editing confg files, uninstalling and reinstalling Alsa-base and Pulseaudio. I am surprised that I have any sound out of the S/PDIF Coax or Optical now. Thank you for taking the time to look this over. I am not 100% sure this is a bug , but by all the research, suggestions on the IRCs and not having this issue on previous versions, I am leaning towards it being a bug. If you need any further information please let me know and I will respond asap. [Bug 1249700] [NEW] evolution-source-registry locks keyboard and mouse input
Public bug reported: I updated ubuntu to 13.10, and now every time I login, I get the dreaded bug #1142511 What's weird, is that the calendar auth popup doesn't let me interact with anything else on the screen I can only: input a wrong password... the popup will disappear and reapper, still locking the whole interface input a good password (maybe, I can't test it, since it'd need an application-specific password, and I can't open a browser to procure it) select cancel... the popup is dismissed press ctrl+alt+f#, and in a terminal kill the evolution-source-registry process... this will let me go on ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 Package: evolution-data-server 3.8.5-1ubuntu3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.11.0-13.20-generic 3.11.6 Uname: Linux 3.11.0-13-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: wl ApportVersion: 2.12.5-0ubuntu2.1 Architecture: amd64 Date: Sat Nov 9 21:35:12 2013 InstallationDate: Installed on 2011-10-31 (740 days ago) InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 11.10 "Oneiric Ocelot" - Release amd64+mac (20111012) MarkForUpload: True SourcePackage: evolution-data-server UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to saucy on 2013-10-09 (30 days ago) ** Affects: evolution-data-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug saucy -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1249700 Title: evolution-source-registry locks keyboard and mouse input To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution-data-server/+bug/1249700/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Christopher Sadly, yes, although a lot less frequently. Without wanting to "put the mockers on" it's only happened twice in the last week. [Bug 1066464] Re: Please patch xserver-xorg-video-sis for Saucy and Raring (was: SiS driver crashes Xserver with EXA acceleration)
I can confirm with problem with an ASUS Degatto and Ubuntu 13.10. The mediahacks driver solves the crash. It seems there are still very small graphical glitches from time to time though.
