[Bug 1063354] Re: Sudden Read-Only Filesystems
Hi, I can confirm Rahul Jain's observation: I am also on Mint 15. I had that problem since Mint 14, then not for a long while and yesterday it appeared again. In my case, I am sure, my Hardware is OK, no smart errors on the SSD, and as this is a notebook, I don't think, there are any pin problems on the connectors. I have noticed, that this problem appears every time, ther's heavy SDD activity, and lots of small data-blocks are beeing encrypted and written/read to the SSD. In particular yesterday I was enabling the calendar caching in my thunderbird lightning calendars. This provoked massive writing and reading operations. An other time that happened was again in thunderbird when I synchronized my 12GB IMAP Mailbox. I just tried to verify my theory about many little files/small data-blocks - I used bonnie++ to write many little files in a very fast manner. Result: same dmesg output, ends in kernel panic... This is a vital problem so a fix needs to be found asap. regards and merry Christmas , Felix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1063354 Title: Sudden Read-Only Filesystems To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1063354/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1263618] [NEW] compcache hook should add spare zram devices
Public bug reported: These days zram leaves staging and in many cases can be seen as ramdisk replacement. Currently compcache hook loads driver with single device instance, blocking any additional usage of zram driver. I suggest to add 16 /dev/zramX devices (same amount as with /dev/ramX). [Bug 390508] Re: notifyOSD ignores the expire timeout parameter
It's amazing. Three and a half years, almost to the day, since this 'bug' was first commented on. I use bug very loosely, because all it is is poor programming that the developer would rather defend than make the few small changes required to resolve this. There have been dozens of case uses identified for the timeout parameter to be installed properly. It's been documented how this failure actively prevents programs developed for a non-Ubuntu distro from working properly in Ubuntu, and can cause confusion and unexpected reactions when porting programs from Ubuntu to another distro. Many times the specifications have been brought up, documenting how the Ubuntu devs are out of specifications set by freedesktop. Instead Ubuntu (as an organization even though it's one or two people speaking on their 'behalf') has basically told people to 'make your own notify program' if you don't like theirs. And to Hades if you're not able to safely integrate it into whatever desktop notification system the end user happens to be using. This is how OS's get fragmented and end up going in the toilet. I understand the GPL pretty much lets you fork the 'official' program and muck around with it as much as you want, but the amount of effort that has gone into defending a poorly defensible position versus the work it would take to bring the program back in line with the standard, I can't even accept laziness as an excuse for this anymore. The only understandable reason this is still going on is pure and simple bull headed stubbornness. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/390508 Title: notifyOSD ignores the expire timeout parameter To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/390508/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1263582] Re: sound stops working
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1263582/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1263591] [NEW] Add notification-area to panel-default-layout.layout
Public bug reported: Upstream gnome-panel includes notification-area: https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-panel/plain/data/panel-default-layout.layout In Ubuntu, debian/patches/01_layout.patch changes that file in order to make use of indicator-applet-complete. That patch is Ubuntu-specific, it doesn't exist in Debian: http://anonscm.debian.org/viewvc/pkg-gnome/desktop/unstable/gnome-panel/debian/patches/ The problem is that that patch also removes notification-area, so applications like pidgin, stardict etc (and even nm-applet in Trusty) don't show up at all. Please modify that patch so that notification-area is not removed, i.e. add the following lines to it: [Object notification-area] object-iid=NotificationAreaAppletFactory::NotificationArea toplevel-id=top-panel pack-type=end pack-index=1 I'm attaching an updated 41_classic_layout.patch. ** Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Patch added: "Updated debian/patches/41_classic_layout.patch" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1263591/+attachment/3934571/+files/41_classic_layout.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1263591 Title: Add notification-area to panel-default-layout.layout To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-panel/+bug/1263591/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 554488] Re: 0x104d9008 needs vaio quirk for audible sound on lucid live cd
Michael Doube, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.13-rc5 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. [Bug 1263365] Re: Losing the mouse pointer when switching account
Presently XMir uses the X software cursor rather than its own. And the X software cursor is known to be slightly buggy in some cases. But the logic is all in Xorg. When you disable XMir, X will generally switch back to a "hardware cursor" which performs better and is generally more reliable. So this gives the illusion that XMir is breaking the cursor. [Bug 421276] Re: USB remote stops working
Glenn, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.13-rc3 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. [Bug 1263080] Re: keyboard stops working KDE
Another 24 hrs on and no repeat of the keyboard problems through several sleep / wakes etc. I think this is increasingly looking like some cross talk with power devil. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1263080 Title: keyboard stops working KDE To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdebase/+bug/1263080/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1237794] Re: [BTRFS] hard lockup on filserver
Now running 3.13.0-031300rc3-generic (from Mainline/Trusty RC) and have had the longest continual uptime since moving to 3.11 (i.e. upgraded to Ubuntu 13.10) - 8 days. Will keep and eye on the situation, but I also have had backups running and so far it looks stable. Will continue to monitor. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1237794 Title: [BTRFS] hard lockup on filserver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1237794/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
