[Bug 1248211] Re: After upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10 no auto mount, unable to shutdown/reboot from menu, empty network list, etc ...
This affects me too in exactly the same way. Based on my digging, there are more than a few people experiencing this particular combination of issues after the 13.10 upgrade (NM issues, User Account management "unlock" is greyed out, drive mounting/unmounting issues, shutdown/reboot issues). I've seen it suggested this may actually be a policykit issue, since these are all things that require elevated permissions and only occurs in the GUI. This particular system I'm on may have been upgraded more than once, but I'm not sure since I don't recall whether I did a clean install of 13.04 or upgraded from 12.10 (and more). So, it may be something that doesn't present unless you've gone through multiple chained upgrades. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1248211 Title: After upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10 no auto mount, unable to shutdown/reboot from menu, empty network list, etc ... [Bug 1249765] Re: 8086:4222 [Acer Aspire 5670] iwl3945 resets wireless connection frequently
Vish, thank you for your comments. Regarding them: 1) I would file a new report about that and provide the information following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelBoot . 2) Good to know it works in WinXP. Regarding .inf files, I just did a *.inf search (in Vista) and it would appear many are found in: C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository 3) It would appear you may have not fully uninstalled, and reversed the previous steps you took when you were attempting an ndiswrapper configuration. Testing ndiswrapper is requested largely to see if one would have a conceivable WORKAROUND and check for hardware error. Given you can't (easily) get it to work, and you tested WinXP, that would be sufficient for that part of things (although you may want to file a bug report against ndiswrapper if you tested it with the WinXP driver and it didn't work). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1249765 Title: 8086:4222 [Acer Aspire 5670] iwl3945 resets wireless connection frequently To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1249765/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1249765] Re: 8086:4222 [Acer Aspire 5670] iwl3945 resets wireless connection frequently
hi Christopher, I've tried following the wiki instructions for using ndiswrapper , from https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/Ndiswrapper but I'm not sure if I'm loading the driver correctly. when i run sudo depmod -a sudo modprobe ndiswrapper I dont seem to have the driver working. I'm not sure if the driver even loads. so I tried rebooting. 1) With the latest driver from Acer website for my laptop, the system does not reboot into Ubuntu if the driver is loaded. i have to boot into a different kernel , remove the driver and only then can i boot ubuntu into that particular kernel. 2) The wireless connection works without problems when I boot into windows xp. So i figured that this would be the best driver to use. I tried finding the driver from the windows Xp boot, but I was only able to find the .sys file and .dll, but could not find the .inf file in the windows partition. any ideas as to where i could find the .inf file? 3) Now the system does not load iwl3945 module every time i boot up the laptop.i manually have to run $ sudo modprobe iwl3945 each time. I tried commenting out the blacklist of the iwl3945 module & also removing the blacklist which i had to do during the ndiswrapper instructions, but that did not help. How do I make sure that the iwl3945 module loads automatically?

[Bug 924278] Re: xscreensaver doesn't enable DPMS
I have now tested this with Ubuntu 14.04 dev and xscreensaver 5.15-3ubuntu1 but it is still not working. I'm also noticing that xset -q is always showing "DPMS is Disabled" no matter how often I'm dis- and enabling it in xscreensaver. But other values like the standby-, suspend- and off-time are successfully changed on xset -q if I'm changing them with xscreensaver. It seems there is currently somewhere an issue that prevents xscreensaver from setting DPMS to enabled or maybe just disables it instantly. I'm on LXDE with LXDM as login manager if this should be related to this problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/924278 Title: xscreensaver doesn't enable DPMS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xscreensaver/+bug/924278/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1266348] [NEW] imacros command line breaks debugging information
Public bug reported: Hello, Currently, the gcc ubuntu package has a bug that comes from upstream: http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=57653 The effect of the bug is if one compiles a file with the option -imacros, the filename and all useful debugging information disappears. Here is a simple example of that: imacros-test$ cat somefile.c #warning some warning imacros-test$ cat macros.h #define SOME_MACRO imacros-test$ gcc -c somefile.c somefile.c:1:2: warning: #warning some warning [-Wcpp] #warning some warning ^ imacros-test$ gcc -c somefile.c -imacros macros.h :1:2: warning: #warning some warning [-Wcpp] This also affects the debugging information embedded within the files, rendering debugging pretty useless. While I am aware this is a bug from upstream, it's been sitting there for a while with a simple patch. It'd be nice to apply that patch on the ubuntu package in the meantime. Thanks!
