[Bug 1266615] Re: Abiword crashes when pasting images from Firefox

2014-01-06 Thread Elfy
@ penalvch - why would there be a crash report - it's not a crash - it's
a bug :)

also try and bear in mind that gedit is default in Ubuntu - this is an
Xubuntu bug - so could be leafpad or mousepad depending on release

No, since there has been no activity at the bug report thread, I think
we need not worry about it. I think there are many other bugs, that
affect many more people.

If the locales character set already has the euro symbol then I see no
reason not to directly edit the locale itself. If we need a new
character set then that's a different issue and then we should be using
@euro to transition from the old character set to the new one. I don't
know if the the BALTIC charset in use by lv_LV has a euro symbol. If it
doesn't then I recommend we create lv_LV@euro with an alternate charset
that supports the euro symbol.

Please note that this isn't a make-work project, but rather that there
is some software that doesn't yet work with the euro symbol correctly,
therefore we provide two locales during a transitional period to allow
users to run certain applications using the old locale.

Solution would probably be change LVL/Ls to EUR (e.g. EUR 123,56) in lv_LV and
to euro sign (e.g. 123,56 €) in lv_LV.UTF-8.

2014-01-06 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Goalie Fight, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-nouveau REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

would not be helpful.

[Bug 1232454] Re: "Computer will suspend very soon because of inactivity." dialog when resuming from suspend

2014-01-06 Thread ChemDroid
Thanks for your workaround, Bib.

I tested it yesterday and unfortunately it doesn't work reliably. Especially
after rebooting it's not working for me unless I logout and login again.
I found a much more convenient solution based on the hooks of pm-utils, so it's
also independent of your screensaver settings.

Simply copy the attachement (20_kill-notify-osd) to /etc/pm/sleep.d:

sudo mv 20_kill-notify-osd /etc/pm/sleep.d
sudo chmod +x /etc/pm/sleep.d/20_kill-notify-osd

2014-01-06 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
Hello Christopher,
thanks for the comment, but I don't think it's BIOS related.

Verified again on 201202-10592 with 12.10 + update (3.5.0-45)
Volume can be controlled by hotkeys, sound could be played normally.
But the output device section still empty.

With further investigation, it might be caused by pluseaudio
an output device (Built-in Audio Analog Stereo) will appear with this command:

please find attachments for "pacmd list-sinks" results before and after

Why is this missue marked as invalid?

Ubuntu still suffers on this subject. Other Linux distributions work

As far as I know only Ubuntu is not able to change the mouse pointer.

[Bug 1170752] Re: Xorg x server - core server update cause temperature increase

2014-01-06 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Maik Adamietz, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg-server REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1259083] Re: GTK window layout problems with python

2014-01-06 Thread Martin Pitt
The bindings don't have influence on the GTK layout, it's most probably
an incompatibility with the current GTK version and needs to be changed
in the actual applications. Do you have a screenshot for software
updates? It looks quite fine here on trusty.

[Bug 1166411] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in amd_xs113_int10_x_inb()

2014-01-06 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Václav Zeman, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg-server REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 133133]

2014-01-06 Thread Thomas Sisson
Since I am not a programmer, I cannot submit a patch. However, can't
someone simply replace whatever is opening Nautilus with xdg-open? You
don't even have to know how it works or where the files are.

Just to be clear though, anything involving xdg uses XDG standards. If
one is curious, or simply wants or needs to know the standard, check out
multiple publications at freedesktop.org.

I understand that Mozilla has abandoned Qt, but that does not mean that
Linux distributions of Mozilla software should be Gnome specific. The
point of the XDG standard is that anything following it should work for
any desktop environment that follows it. Both Gnome and KDE follow those
standards.

[Bug 1266195] Re: grub-installer fails to install when using btrfs

2014-01-06 Thread Chris Murphy
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1059827 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1059827

Ideally the installer should test for a properly sized MBR gap earlier
on, so it can fail before going to the trouble of installing the OS,
only to have grub-install inevitably fail. Windows 7 uses LBA 2048/1MB
aligned first partition, and maybe even Vista did. XP does not, it
starts the first partition at LBA 63. Older versions of parted do the
same.

Next, the use of the --force flag for grub-install on a whole block
device seems ill advised. As far as I know, it's useful when directed to
a partition formatted ext[234] so that the boot strap code and block
list is placed in the VBR instead of the MBR gap. The --force flag will
fail on XFS and Btrfs.

In any case, the work around is to repartition with something even
somewhat recent, so that partition 1 starts at LBA 2048.

_dan_, indeed we don't show the nvidia driver if the intel card is

with the intel one. There has been some work in that area, I'll ask

[Bug 1165693] Re: Xorg crash

2014-01-06 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Antylvnglawvs Esxeevaenorii Xylanthrophialantees, this bug was reported
a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were
wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for
this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are
available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg-server REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1163981] Re: Xorg crashes when maximizing/resizing windows in openbox

2014-01-06 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Janis Petersons, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg-server REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.
