[Bug 1271483] Re: No display with radeon driver for Display Port on [AMD Radeon HD 8490][1002:6771]

2014-02-06 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
Install the proprietary driver could make it work, therefore this bug is
no longer a blocker.

** Description changed:

  CID: 201303-13015 Dell Optiplex XE2

There is one DP port and one DVI port on this video card.
DVI video output works fine, but DP does not.

  Steps:
  1. Boot with DVI port plugged, install 12.04.3 + update (3.8.0-35)
  2. Try to boot with DP port or hot plug the DP cable

  Expected result:
  * DP port video should work.

  Actual result:
  * The big Dell logo will shows up, then the purple screen without any text,
finally no video signal detected, monitor will enter idle mode.

  Note:
  * If you use a HDMI->DP adapter, it works.
- * DP port video output could work with fglrx installed, but the "Unsupported
Hardware" watermark issue (bug 1224897) with fglrx will make both this bug and
that one become blockers.
+
+ WORKAROUND:
+ * Install the proprietary driver could make it work, therefore this bug is no
longer a blocker.

[Bug 1277370] Re: Now used Aiatana design blocks Evince accessibility usage if the current session is not Unity

2014-02-06 Thread Attila Hammer
I browsed Evince screen with Orca flat review commands. The flat review feature
provide possibility to visually impaired users browsing entire the screen and
looking what widgets have the screen.
I not see any menubar related widgets the window (for example File menu, View
menu, etc) if I using GNOME Shell.
This is right?

[Bug 1277370] Re: Now used Aiatana design blocks Evince accessibility usage if the current session is not Unity

2014-02-06 Thread Attila Hammer
This patch restoring missing a11y support for Evince, but not an optimal way.
Unfortunately if this patch applied a new version, will be kill Unity related
doed menubar related modification.
Need founding a more optimal solution to al desktop environments have
possibility to use you wanted menubar possibility, but keep already upstream
level awailable a11y support.
I not see clear the concept. If an user using Unity and launching Evince, will
be presenting a gtk.menubar style main menu, or an absolute different visually
lookup main menu?
I not have possibility to using Unity, because GNOME Shell environment is more
accessible now with orca.

[Bug 1264964] Re: [Dell Optiplex 9020SFF] No audio input device available

2014-02-06 Thread David Henningsson
@Po-Hsu Lin: if outputs show up even when they are not connected, I'd
say it could be a bug, but not a serious one.

 - Line out jacks do not have jack detection in 12.04, because it is not
enabled in PulseAudio. This should be fixed/improved in 14.04.
 - Some hardware does not support jack detection at all, in which case showing
them all the time is the best thing we can do.

[Bug 1246657] Re: after installing UM calendar disappeared from panel

2014-02-06 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
How did you reinstall UM? Were there any warnings during reinstall? Can
you please also run "apport-collect 1246657" command which will attach
some system logs to this bug.

Also, I don't believe that reinstalling a package that doesn't have any
maintainer scripts can cause *any* system errors. Because of that, and
to make apport-collect work correctly, I am reassigning this to Unity.

[Bug 1277370] [NEW] Now used Aiatana design blocks Evince accessibility usage if the current session is not Unity

2014-02-06 Thread Attila Hammer
Public bug reported:

Dear Developers,

Since Evince 3.10.3-0ubuntu3 version used changes blocks Evince keyboard usage
with accessibility related.
To testing some testcases, please install gnome-shell and
gnome-shell-extensions packages, logout and login the gnome-classic session.
Two simple testcases if the used session is not Ubuntu (Unity interface), for
example gnome, gnome-classic or gnome-flashback:
1. Launch Evince if you using for example gnome or gnome-classic session.
2. Press F10 key. Expected result with original upstream version:
After F10 key press presenting a context menu with have possibility to use
importanter functions (open, close, etc).
Actual result: nothing happening after F10 key press.

A testcase with Evince accelerators related:
1. Launch Evince.
2. Try opening a file with CTRL+O keystroke.
Expected result with upstream 3.10.3 version: the file open dialog is
presenting the screen after CTRL+O keystroke.
Actual result: nothing happening.

My conclusion is following with GNOME Shell environment and downstream patched
evince 3.10.3-0ubuntu3 and 3.10.3-0ubuntu4 package version related:
The evince 3.10.3-0ubuntu3 and higher versions killed the original upstream
version available accessibility support. Visually impaired users using only
with keyboard and screen reader support if entire not see the screen.
To demonstrate this bad change, try following testcase:
1. Launch Orca screen reader with orca command.
2. Launch evince and opening a text containing pdf document (only images
containing pdf file is not good now).
3. Try enabling the F7 keystroke the caret navigation support.
Expected result with upstream version: a popup message dialog will be
presenting the screen after F7 keystroke, and the user have possibility to
click enable button.
When caret navigation support is enabled, visually impaired users have
possibility to read text-only pdf documents with Evince the Orca screen reader,
full accessible way.
Actual result with Ubuntu Trusty packaged version: when F7 keystroke is
pressed, nothing happening. Impossible to enabling this function, so impossible
reading a pdf document with arrow keys the Evince application and Orca screen
reader, impossible to selecting only a part of a pdf file, etc.

Now, I need reverting following patches and using own compiled evince package
to I get full the awailable a11y support this application:
0001-Port-to-GMenuModel-and-add-menu-bar.patch
0002-Remove-gtk_application_set_accels_for_actions.patch
If I understanding right the purpose of the second patch, this patch reverting
keyboard accelerators with Evince awailable actions.
If I using temporary my modified evince package, all wrote testcases passed
right if I using gnome-classic session.

This is the only other obvious place that grep says needs arch-
enablement.

I setup sinzui w/ some access earlier this week - is this the same

[Bug 1250729] Re: Pre-Ubuntu 13.10 user (with cjkv) can not login with lightdm (ibus)

2014-02-06 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
I suppose it's more than enough info for someone who knows that stuff.
;-)

It's fine with me that you write a new flickering bug, if you prefer to
do so. In any case it seems like the info necessary to describe how to
reproduce the login issue is no longer available, so then - as you say -
we leave this bug unresolved with a "won't fix".

Thanks!

[Bug 457731]

2014-02-06 Thread Jwelsh
Created attachment 84935
Proposed patch: cancel construction before quit

I can confirm Christoph's patch works as described, but I don't think
it's a good user experience. You try to quit the program, and the button
responds but it doesn't quit. There's no indication that the construct
mode has to be canceled first.

Here's an update of the patch that escapes the nested event loop before
quitting by canceling the construction. It's definitely an abuse of
queryClose(), and I don't understand the Kig code well enough to
guarantee it will always work. In particular, is it possible for there
to be more than two levels of nested event loops, i.e. some other mode
invoked from within a construct mode? Still, it does solve this
particular crash, and makes the program behave as the user expects.

I don't see another way to do it, short of getting rid of the event loop
nesting altogether, which seems to be the root of the problem. Although,
a halfway but reliable alternative would be to cancel the construction
but return false from KigPart::queryClose(). That is, the first time you
try to quit, it just cancels the mode; the second time it really quits.

[Bug 1273769] Re: ppc64el enablement for juju/lxc

2014-02-06 Thread John A Meinel
Given the statements in bug #1276909 this seems to be a small patch so
that we have a regex to recognize the architecture.

It seems the new patch would be something like:
--- juju-core-1.17.2.orig/src/launchpad.net/juju-core/environs/manual/init.go
+++ juju-core-1.17.2/src/launchpad.net/juju-core/environs/manual/init.go
@@ -128,6 +128,7 @@ var archREs = []struct {
{regexp.MustCompile("amd64|x86_64"), "amd64"},
{regexp.MustCompile("i[3-9]86"), "i386"},
{regexp.MustCompile("armv.*"), "arm"},
+ {regexp.MustCompile("ppc64el"), "ppc64el"},
 }

I don't personally have a way to test this, and I don't know the exact
strings that we should be using.

I don't have direct ways to test the patch, but it seems sane to me. Is
there something we can get into some form of testing to make sure that
we don't break this in the future? (CI testing for aarch64?)

2014-02-06 Thread John Belton
It happened again when I powered up this morning, before I could enter my
password the error alert came on screen then dissappeared until after I logged
in when it re-appeared. I am also getting warnings about backup unable to open
/home/john/.cache/dconf
/home/john/.gvfs
folders for backup, it may be an operation sequence at the start-up that is
causing the problem.

I got same crash. Found similar errors in syslog:

I was moving files between disks, for more details, I run 'nautilus'
from terminal, so I got more information:

sys:1: Warning: GError set over the top of a previous GError or uninitialized
memory.
This indicates a bug in someone's code. You must ensure an error is NULL before
it's set.
The overwriting error message was: Error removing file: Permission denied
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

So, for me, it because the source file cannot be deleted for permission
reason, but anyway, the nautilus shouldn't crash, it should report the
permission problem.

[Bug 1265570] Re: nvidia-331 update installs bumblebee [xorg-edgers]

2014-02-06 Thread Tareeq
Hi Rostislav Stříbrný,

When using bumblebee, the goal is to use the nvidia driver and then use
optirun or primus commands to lauch your apps to use the nvidia driver.
If you don't want to bother with the intel chip, then I would suggest
you just purge bumblee bee and use the nvidia-xconfig command to create
your xorg config. Just take a back up just incase.

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1328851

According to that forum thread it might be an issue with the version of
the kernel you are on. I was using 3.12-Saucy from
(http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.12-saucy/). Also the
xorg-edgers ppa; https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa and
install the nvidia 331 driver.

Any whoo, sorry I can't be more help, but I have since switch from
ubuntu/mint to debian sid (siduction).

[Bug 1257791] Re: Enter and backspace broken in terminal

2014-02-06 Thread Victor Thompson
deb file appears to want to install the files to /usr/lib/arm-linux-
gnueabihf/qt5/qml/ when it should go under the click package's
installation directory. Patch works for me when I extract the files to
the click installation directory.

With the patch, however, keypresses are doubled. So typing "df -h" will
produce "ddff --hh". Enter and backspace do NOT appear to double.

[Bug 1277265] [NEW] Clicking a menu entry doesn't always show the drop down menu the first time

2014-02-06 Thread Christopher Townsend
Public bug reported:

When clicking an applications menu entry in the Panel, the drop down
menu associated with that entry isn't always shown the first time the
entry is clicked. This is particularly apparent when dragging a window
to a different monitor and then trying to click.

This issue was actually caught during Autopilot testing on multi-
monitors.

[Bug 1158500] Re: auditd fails to add rules when used in precise with -lts-quantal kernel

2014-02-06 Thread Tyler Hicks
I built Saucy's audit package for Precise and ran it under the -lts-
saucy kernel. When running the auditctl command in the bug description,
it emitted the following warning:

Warning - entry rules deprecated, changing to exit rule

Starting with kernel version 3.3, the audit kernel code refuses
entry, always rules. Starting with audit version 2.0, auditctl converts
entry,always rules to exit,always rules.

The fix seems to be to backport upstream audit commits 300, 301, and 307
to Precise's audit package to make auditctl convert entry, always rules
to exit,always.

[Bug 1262801] Re: eog hangs when the print dialog is closed

2014-02-06 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Bruno, or anyone else affected,

Accepted eog into saucy-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eog/3.8.2-1ubuntu1.1 in
a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1266005] Re: [ASRock H87 Pro4] Reboots instead of shutdown after kernel update

2014-02-06 Thread Paolo Montrasio
Update: it might be related to the power saving settings. I had "When
the lid is closed" set to do nothing both for on battery power and for
when plugged in. I set them to Suspend and the computer finally
shutdown. I don't dare to boot up again and try to shutdown until
tomorrow.

[Bug 1244338] Re: External tool won't run if "Save" is set to "All documents"

2014-02-06 Thread and...@drup.org
It looks like the bug was caused by this patch:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=659437
I have created an account and posted comment #10
Here is my explanation of why the patch is broken:

This code is working in the opposite way it is intended to. I.e. only the
unchanged documents are being saved, and the changed documents are left
unsaved.
On inspecting the code, it is obvious why:

   if doc.get_modified():
   all_docs = False
   docs.remove(doc)

Modified documents are being removed from the list to be saved. Instead it
should be:

   if not doc.get_modified():

[Bug 1277250] [NEW] 3.8.0-* NFS Compatibility with 3.2.0-* Kernels

2014-02-06 Thread Axioma Inc
Public bug reported:

ISSUE:
Just installed 12.04.4 LTS (#lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS
Release: 12.04) to a new Server and brought it onto the existing network with
12.04.2 LTS servers using NIS and LDAP.
1.) Ran into the outstanding issue where imapd.d did not detect the domain and
had to manually enter it in /etc/idmapd.conf.
2.) When tryin to mount 3.2.0-* Kernel FileServer Shares, it would still
present the "unknown user / group id" numeric "42464587" instead of the
user/group id's from LDAP.

Went through all the settings in NSSWITCH, NSLCD, NSCD, and LDAP to confirm all
the information.
ran "getent" against the id's and it would respond with the correct infromation.

Temp Solution:
Revert Kernel from the 3.8.0-35-generic (current) to the 3.2.0-58-generic
Kernel running on the other servers in the environment.
NFS / LDAP / NIS works fine on the older Kernel.

Final Solution: ?
