[Bug 1233564] Re: Wrong frame is seen on wake up/resume/unlock.
Well the problem is going to occur on desktop still. And it's basically the same problem for any shell/compositor so we don't want to repeat effort. [Bug 1233564] Re: Wrong frame is seen on wake up/resume/unlock.
This should be taken care of outside of Mir. Currently the issue occurs due to the unity-system-compositor stopping the compositor before the shell/greeter has a change to show any shutdown animation. On display power off: powerd sends D-Bus signal setScreenPowerMode("off") to com.canonical.Unity.Screen unity-system-compositor receives signal, stops mir compositor and turns off screen powerd emits DisplayPowerStateChange signal unity8 shell receives DisplayPowerStateChange - attempts to show greeter rendering is blocked since USC stopped compositor. There may some frames queued up with content before greeter animation hence the issue reported here. On display power on: powerd sends D-Bus signal setScreenPowerMode("on") to com.canonical.Unity.Screen unity-system-compositor receives signal, starts compositor and turns on screen mir compositor starts, unity8 shell rendering continues from where it left off. For now a workaround is to add a configurable delay at power off in unity-system-compositor: https://code.launchpad.net/~albaguirre/unity-system-compositor/add-power-off-delay-option/+merge/208281 The ideal solution is better coordination between powerd, the shell/greeter and USC; The shell should be given an opportunity to show a shutdown animation. Maybe Mir could add a parameter to the compositor stop to specify how many frames to render before actually stopping though I don't see this as necessary. Perhaps the shell should be in charge of notifying USC when to power off instead. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1233564 Title: Wrong frame is seen on wake up/resume/unlock. [Bug 1193525] Re: rhythmbox crashed with SIGSEGV in sem_post()
I am having this problem as well, exactly as described by terry_gardener, above. I have attached a GDB backtrace and execution log with all debugging symbols installed so nothing is missing. This is still an issue in Saucy currently, though it must not be for very many people. Wondering why this affects such a small user base? [Bug 1031063] Re: internal error no supported architecture for os type 'hvm'
Ran in to the same issue with Ubuntu-12.04. I am trying to set up nova compute in a VM. I wanted to use libvit_type=qemu but i kept getting the error "hvm not supported". Just when I was about to give up and try to reboot my host with nested virtualization capability, I realized that I was adding libvirt_type=qemu in /etc/nova/nova.conf while I should really be adding it in /etc/nov/nova-compute.conf Doing that resolved my issue! [Bug 1285004] [NEW] SimpleUI click app with UbuntuWebView component werid behavior after publish on software center
Public bug reported: I have done a simple UI app to wrap an HTML5 music playback website by UbuntuWebView component. It works great wherever on my PC or real hardware running Ubuntu for Phone when I test it. But after it be reviewed and published to software center, I download it on my phone. Then I found it always refresh to retreive audio from server and no stop. But other button and function works good. I tried to run my app on device by click menu of Ubuntu SDK, it still works fine. So only difference is workable one is from my PC and unworkable one is downloaded from software center. The source code is hosted at https://github.com/sangshuduo/doubanfmunofficial. [Bug 1272291] Re: Corrupt mouse cursor when using multimonitors
I've noticed an additional quirk. If I slowly move the cursor from the right screen to the left (after it has become cut-up as described by others), on the right screen the cursor is as it should be. As it gets within a few pixels of the left screen (but still fully on the right screen), the first slice starts to show up on the left screen. In other words, the cursor is partially rendered on the left screen before it should be and still fully rendered on the right screen. Very curious. The distance between the first two slices of the cursor on the left screen is apparently precisely the distance of the uncorrupted cursor from the edge of the right screen when it starts to be rendered on the left screen too early. So it seems like there is some mismatch in the rendering locations and the internal rendering of the two monitors. Since the slicing occurs when switching between the monitors (from right to left for me), it seems like this is an artifact arising between the rendering location of the cursor as it is between monitors and the boundary between the screens. Also note that all the alternate cursors (e.g. window resizing at corners) are similarly sliced up. So perhaps there is some kind of filter applied to the cursor image before rendering to the screen that is getting mangled/corrupted when switching between screens. I also found a way to uncorrupt the cursor. In the Catalyst Control Center for the Radeon driver, going to "Digital Monitor (2)" (I have 2 monitors, might be different for other users), selecting the tab "properties", and checking "Reduce DVI frequency on high-resolution displays" (default unchecked) restored the cursor. This resets the right screen (with the working cursor!) and somehow restores the proper cursor on the left screen. When the cursor corrupts again, just cycle the toggle. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1272291 Title: Corrupt mouse cursor when using multimonitors To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1272291/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Also, it's really confuse where I should report xorg-edgers issues, I've gone to the xorg bugzilla but I didn't have an option referring to xorg- edgers, didn't have an advice how to file xorg-edgers stuff there, only here on launchpad and also, in the options for reporting a bug on freedesktop, I have to say what component of xorg is being affected, which I don't know. Can you provide some info on this or where I can find it to just report a bug on edgers PPA updates? [Bug 1284981] [NEW] Locally-integrated menus stop working in Virtualbox
Public bug reported: With (the absolutely awesome) locally-integrated menus enabled, if you open the VirtualBox the menus initially work as expected, ie they appear in VirtualBox's titlebar when you hover the mouse over it. But if you open a popup window by clicking on New or Settings and then close it, it the menus no longer appear when you hover over the titlebar. One workaround is that the menus start working again if you focus on another application's window and then click on VirtualBox again so it regains focus, so it's as if the popup window has retained the focus for LIM even once it is closed. Also worth noting is that if you open a VirtualBox popup window and focus on another application without closing the VirtualBox popup window, when you go back to the popup window and close it, the menus work as expected. I tried reproducing this using the popup windows in Synaptic, gnome- disks, and gnome-terminal, but they all work fine. I'm running virtualbox-4.3 4.3.8-92456~Ubuntu~raring. [Bug 1284973] [NEW] std::array does not 0-initialise its members (per standard)
Public bug reported: Compiling the following example code: #include #include int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { char a1[10]; std::array a2; for(int i=0; i<10; i++) { std::cout << "a1[" << i << "] = " << (int)a1[i] << std::endl; } for(int i=0; i<10; i++) { std::cout << "a2[" << i << "] = " << (int)a2[i] << std::endl; } } compiling with: g++ -std=c++11 arrays.cpp produces the following: $ ./a.out a1[0] = -36 a1[1] = -101 a1[2] = -13 a1[3] = -65 a1[4] = 85 a1[5] = -118 a1[6] = 70 a1[7] = -73 a1[8] = -16 a1[9] = -43 a2[0] = 113 a2[1] = -73 a2[2] = 0 a2[3] = 0 a2[4] = 0 a2[5] = 0 a2[6] = -37 a2[7] = -119 a2[8] = 4 a2[9] = 8 Somehow at least some of the members of std::array retain their non-zero values, which goes against C++11 standard. On aarch64 it prints this: start f2 start f1 finish f2 finish f1 {ss_sp: (nil), ss_flags: 2, ss_size: 0} {ss_sp: 0x7ffbe931f8, ss_flags: 0, ss_size: 8192} It turns out that because setcontext is implemented in terms of the rt_sigreturn syscall it ends up copying the uc_stack data from the passed context into the (kernel) task's sigaltstack parameters. Hilarity ensues. Specifically it means that programs linked against the gccgo runtime sometimes handle signals with SP pointing at memory that another thread is using for its stack, with predictably bad results.
