[Bug 1291042] [NEW] Can't disable touchpad anymore after upgrade to 14.04

2014-03-11 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Public bug reported:

Hi,

it's quite annoying if typing on a notebook's keyboard the touchpad is
accidently activated and moves the mouse or generates mouse klicks.

On both of my notebook computers I could disable this through keyboard
shortcuts (Fn+ a blue function key, I guess BIOS-driven). Since
upgrading to 14.04 on one of my notebooks this still works, while on the
other (ASUS) it does not work anymore. No way to disable the touchpad,
causing plenty of typing faults due to a magically moving mouse pointer.

[Bug 880881] Re: Power indicator does not combine multiple battery status

2014-03-11 Thread Charles Kerr
For me the situation is even worse: Since 12.10 the power indicator displays
my laptop battery and my MOUSE battery (Belkin bluetooth mouse) as second
battery. Unfortunately it always chooses the mouse battery for display in the
 panel.

This is of course completely useless, as I want to see how long the laptop
battery lasts, not how long the mouse battery lasts. It seems to be
impossible to select which battery to display in the panel?

Selecting the mouse battery over the desktop battery is by design iff
the mouse is reporting it will run empty sooner than the laptop. From
the spec:

The menu title should tell you at a glance what you need to know
most: what device will lose power soonest (and optionally when), or
otherwise which device will take longest to charge, optionally how long
it will take, and optionally its current charge level. More detailed
information can be accessed inside the menu itself.

[Bug 874535] Re: Volume Slider Jumps, due to rapidly changing hardware jack sense state

2014-03-11 Thread NrNice
I am a bit disappointed.

This bug has been reported by Jim Rorie on 2011-10-14, more than 2 full
years ago.

I agree there is not a lot of people impacted
The Importance is Low and nobody is assigned to this bug.
There is no workaround.

I have audio with static every few seconds and I can't listen or record
properly. Is it not important?
I want to capture video with this computer but I can't.
To my point of view, this but is hightly important as I can't do my video
project.

Do I need to wait another 2 years?

Please could you tell me if you will start to fix it and how long it will take.
I'll decide if I need to switch to another distribution.
I already tried Centos but the video tools are in very old version. Ubuntu has
recent version and LTS I'd like tu use in April.

Public bug reported:

in LibreOffice Calc:

menue, but only a grey area appears /disappears.
Even that narrow handle field at the left end of other bars is not visible.

A bisect was performed in bug 1107150, but the bad commit was never
identified. After testing the mainline kernel, we can also perform a
bisect and may have better luck identifying the cause of this
regression.

[Bug 1291067] [NEW] please add mongo support again

2014-03-11 Thread Daniel Pocock
Public bug reported:

The ubuntu version of this package ships without mongodb support

mongo now appears to be in trusty so it would be possible to enable the
compile of the rsyslog-mongo package

I did complete testing of rsyslog + mongodb + loganalyzer in Debian
wheezy-backports and it all worked (using 7.4.4-1 with a couple of
patches cherry picked from upstream)

The latest 7.4.8-1 in sid today now has the same patches from upstream
to work reliably with mongodb

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1279487] Re: lsb_release crashed with SIGSEGV in move_finalizer_reachable()

2014-03-11 Thread Seth Arnold
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

2014-03-11 Thread Seth Arnold
Please note that the dmesg text in your bug reports shows BIOS errors;
all your reported bugs are memory related. Please try:

- BIOS upgrade, your BIOS and ACPI firmwares appear to be broken in several ways
- run memtest86 overnight to see if your memory, memory controller, or CPU have
an easily-correctable problem

Thanks
