I have noticed this in both legacy and UEFI mode. I'm running Friday's daily build (3/14/2014), fully up to date as apt- get update && apt-get dist-upgrade yields nothing available, and I am still having this issue. In fact out of 12 to 15 boots I only saw it twice, but just not I had to reboot about 14 times to get a boot that allowed me to log in. There are two issues here IMO. Scanning when Bluetooth is disabled is a bug. There's a similar ticket for that, bug #1272317. The other is changing scanning to occur on demand rather than periodically. Christopher, unless I do something this bug is going to expire in a couple of weeks. I don't want it to expire into a mass grave of orphaned bugs. I've invested a significant number of hours investigating it, all in the hope that my work won't be wasted, all in an attempt to make Ubuntu more friendly to end users. I have an Intel Core Quad Q 8400N and Windows 7 (32 bit) , 4 Gb RAM, and a lot of space (40 Gb for Ubuntu, 4,5 Gb for Swap, and more than 500 Gb free in two disks) A long time ago I installed Ununtu 12.04 LTS. It never worked : bad Grub? because Ubuntu never start when I choose it. Recently I runed some cleaners on Windows : Malwarebytes AdwCleaner, and after that Ubuntu 12.04 LS started and stop. Marc, thanks for pinpointing exactly where the regression occurred. virt-manager disables gtk-enable-mnemonics when a running VM window is focused and re-enables it when the focus is lost. So clicking the global menu steals the focus away, changing the gtk-enable-mnemonics setting, which updates the menus (adding back their mnemonics). Since menu updates are done by removing and re-adding the same menu, the old menu is opened but immediately replaced by a new unopened menu... As suggested in Bug #1276700 and Bug #1284899 I installed linux- image-3.14.0-031400rc6-generic_3.14.0-031400rc6.201403100035_amd64 as described in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds and got the results following: "When lid is closed" * "Do Nothing" - Worked * "Suspend" - Made the screen go black after opening the lid. However, after uninstalling linux- image-3.14.0-031400rc6-generic_3.14.0-031400rc6.201403100035_amd64 I installed xserver-xorg-video-intel-lts-saucy I got the results following: "When lid is closed" * "Do Nothing" - Worked * "Suspend" - Made the screen go black after opening the lid.
