[Bug 1263699] Re: vmhgfs loaded after filesystems are mounted

2014-03-16 Thread Maarten Boekhold
No update on this? I can't imagine that I'm the only person affected by
this... If I *am* the only person affected then I must have done
something really stupid and I'd really like to know what!

[Bug 1293108] [NEW] Setting up iscsitarget-dkms fails with error: ‘struct ipv6_pinfo’ has no member named ‘daddr’

2014-03-16 Thread gmoore777
Public bug reported:

I am on 64-bit Lubuntu Trusty Tahr (development branch)
(64-bit Lubuntu nighlty build of 2014-03-14 with updates)
(this machine is set up with RAID-1, LVM and Encryption, in
 case that matters.)

and am trying to set up an iSCSI target (and client).

2 years ago, I successfully did this on PrecisePangolin following these
instructions:
http://www.howtoforge.com/using-iscsi-on-ubuntu-10.04-initiator-and-target

Today, on TrustyTahr, I can't get past the installing of the
iscsitarget-dkms package.

I'm getting a simple(?) compile error.

iscsitarget-dkms package is at version 1.4.20.3+svn496-1ubuntu1

(is there an alternative iSCSI target package that Ubuntu uses/blesses?)

[Bug 1293134] [NEW] Laptop does not resume from suspend upon lid open

2014-03-16 Thread Lars Schütze
Public bug reported:

Hi,
in Windows closing the lid makes it going to sleep and opening the lid makes it
resuming.

I am using Ubuntu 13.10 on my Samsung Series 7 Chronos 700Z3A-S02DE. When I
close the lid the laptop suspends, but on lid open it does not resume until I
press the power button. With acpi_listen I see that it fires and recognizes the
events for lid close and open and /proc/acpi/button/lid/LID0/state shows the
correct state for each lid position. With acpid -d -f -l
I see that those events trigger /etc/acpi/events/. I wrote an event that
matches lid close/open and calls pm-suspend. But this does not make the laptop
resume.
I also uncommented the lines in /etc/systemd/logind.conf regarding hibernate
and suspend. But this does not work either.

So my problem is that the system receivs and understand those ACPI
events triggered from the lid actions. But LID0 is not configured as
/etc/acpi/wakeup device. Nor echoing it into the file does make it
appearing there. So I am at the end of my knowledge and understanding of
the ACPI event handling.

I've already tried to pass different acpi_osi Strings with grub but the
ACPI table does not change nor make it any difference for the
suspend/resume problem.

If I can give any further information please just ask me to. Thank you.

I was adviced to try rebooting the MAAS server (region and cluster

 brought it back :/

I am pretty sure there's something wrong with some folks' networking setups
but I'm not sure what it is.

The timeouts on the TFTP server are very generous, it uses a backoff algorithm
and ends up as a few seconds. This should be more than enough for a local
network!

As a data point. I have seen this locally once when I mixed different types of
switches together (100MB and Gigabit) and went away as soon as I moved back to
a single speed network.

(seemingly) by chance that the second NIC was the one that the other

It'd be lovely if MAAS would report this kind of stuff... Hey, I can
 ping myself... That's not good...

This should not be a problem any more as the TFTP server should listen on all
interfaces in the next release.

[Bug 1268072] Re: byobu color prompt doesn't work correctly

2014-03-16 Thread Dustin Kirkland 
Adding the Ubuntu package to this bug, since your screenshots and info
here clearly show you're running Ubuntu.

I still haven't managed to reproduce this problem.

I suspect that there might be something funny in your ~/.profile or
~/.bashrc? Could you back those up, and then install the stock ones
from Ubuntu? Just copy over /etc/profile and /etc/bash.bashrc over
those files, and start byobu fresh.

 Bug description:
After some initial testing of juju (with local provider) on ppc64el -
we need todo some work to fully enable this option.

   1) LXC templates need to support ppc64el as a valid container arch
   2) ubuntu-cloudimg-query is not avaliable on ppc64el
   3) Juju is explicit in its support for x84 and arm - so enablement work
 is needed here as well.

[Bug 1255558] Re: Can't type my password after cold boot

2014-03-16 Thread JaSauders
I'm running Friday's daily build (3/14/2014), fully up to date as apt-
get update apt-get dist-upgrade yields nothing available, and I am
still having this issue. In fact out of 12 to 15 boots I only saw it
twice, but just not I had to reboot about 14 times to get a boot that
allowed me to log in.

Is there something in the 3/15 daily that the 3/14 excludes, even from a
dist-upgrade level that might yield a fix?

[Bug 1290367] Re: Please sync hidapi from debian unstable

2014-03-16 Thread Logan Rosen
Scott, please state in the description why this sync is necessary (as
you described in your email to me), and then subscribe ~ubuntu-release
so that they can consider making an exception. Bear in mind that we're
in Feature Freeze [1], so this might not go through (along with the new
version of concordance for which this sync is necessary).

I just synced josm 0.0.svn6502+dfsg3-1 into Ubuntu Trusty, which appears
to fix a number of licensing issues. Can you please prune down your list
accordingly? Then, I'll forward it to Debian so that your concerns can
be handled by the maintainers. :)

[Bug 1286784] Re: Inconsistent scrollwheel launcher behavior for window switching.

2014-03-16 Thread Peng
I also wish that all the switched windows during scrolling can be kept to the
front of other applications.
That's the behaviour of current Alt-~ switching. I don't known if it is a
design decision or a bug.

[Bug 1293037] [NEW] Broadcom STA driver installed in live USB, but driver lost after installing Ubuntu in HD

2014-03-16 Thread Arthur Fragoso
Public bug reported:

I downloaded the latest build of ubuntu 14.04, trusty-desktop-amd64.
(2014-03-15)
Ubiquity 2.17.9
Apt 0.9.15.4ubuntu2

Booted it from a USB flash drive and installed the Broadcom STA, going
to Software Updates - Additional Drivers.

It worked great! Then I installed Ubuntu in the hard drive, and the
installed version did not have the STA drivers.

I can easily see the proprietary driver is not installed:

# dmesg | grep b43

[ 10.188127] b43-phy0: Broadcom 4312 WLAN found (core revision 15)
[ 10.240601] b43-phy0: Found PHY: Analog 6, Type 5 (LP), Revision 1

http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/b43#devicefirmware and download the
correct firmware for this driver version. Please carefully read all
instructions on this website.

And there should be a wl.ko file in the dkms folder.
/lib/modules/3.13.0-17-generic/updates/dkms/wl.ko

but there isn't even dkms.

ok, then I thought, let's just install the driver again, but I can't, I
need a Ubuntu DVD. APT cannot see a USB flash drive as a CD/DVD, it
can't easily be added as a repository. (maybe I should open an issue to
APT too?)

So I tried the whole procedure 1 more time, and the same thing happened,
I'm able to reproduce the error.

I have the skills to install the driver without internet, I only need
the dkms and bcmwl-kernel-source deb files, but a lot of users can
struggle with it. Maybe this is not a bug, just a feature request, but
it would be really helpful.

Let me know if you need more information.

Thank you,

Arthur

Well sure that would almost work, except you are going to have to patch
gnome-menus rather than gnome-panel.

I don't really have time to work on gnome-flashback stuff, but would be
happy to review/sponsor patches.

@hadmut, sorry I didn't see your bug had been duplicated here, you can
unduplicate it yourself if you want to reopen it.

As for ibus, it's a Debian package used for input in Linux systems. I
don't know if there are going to be any side effects of removing the
package. For instance:

[Bug 1293043] [NEW] FFe: Sync libsdl2 2.0.2+dfsg1-1 (universe) from Debian sid (main)

2014-03-16 Thread Oibaf
Public bug reported:

Please sync libsdl2 2.0.2+dfsg1-1 (universe) from Debian sid (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
  * Patch libtool.m4 and configure to support ppc64el.
This should no longer be needed since this change in debian 2.0.1+dfsg1-3:
  * Use dh_autoreconf to support new architectures
However I didnt' test it (no way to build on ppc64el myself).

Explanation of FeatureFreeze exception:
New upstream release with many bug fixes and some API additions, possibly
needed by some games (e.g. Steam).
Bakported and tested on my PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~oibaf/+archive/graphics-drivers/+packages

Changelog entries since current trusty version 2.0.1+dfsg1-1ubuntu1:

libsdl2 (2.0.2+dfsg1-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release
- Remove patch applied upstream: fix_ftbfs_kfreebsd.diff
- Add support for Wayland, including build-depends for libegl1-mesa-dev,
libxkbcommon-dev and libwayland-dev. Thanks Franz Schrober for the
request and the help to enable it. (Closes: #714482)
- Add support for OpenGLES, including build-depends for libgles2-mesa-dev

 -- Manuel A. Fernandez Montecelo m...@debian.org Sat, 15 Mar 2014
00:22:48 +

libsdl2 (2.0.1+dfsg1-3) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Use dh_autoreconf to support new architectures

 -- Manuel A. Fernandez Montecelo m...@debian.org Sun, 09 Mar 2014
01:58:11 +

libsdl2 (2.0.1+dfsg1-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Fix FTBFS on kFreeBSD.
- Add fix_ftbfs_kfreebsd.diff to extend a __FreeBSD__ check to
  __FreeBSD_kernel__.

 Title:
[FFe] Update libimobiledevice to support iOS 7, fix Trust Prompt
   Looping

Status in libimobiledevice package in Ubuntu:
   Triaged

 Bug description:
The latest libimobiledevice release 1.1.5 is a year old and does not
support iOS7 devices. Most iOS devices have been updated to iOS7 by
now, so currently the library is broken in functionality for most
users. The git snapshot has been tested to work, but there seems to be
no new upstream release being prepared for the time being.

The new git snapshot includes several fixes, including the security
fix that was previously patched on top of 1.1.5 in Ubuntu.

 another patch for gddr5 ram

I made this patch using my mmiotrace, but it doesn't help either.

Oh well. Indeed the values in your mmiotrace are different, but your and
Andrew's mmiotrace are the only traces I've seen that actually have the
writes to those 0x10fxyz registers. (A few other traces have writes to
the similar-but-different DDR3 registers.)

And yes, I definitely did want to use offsets[o] in my patch.

Well, perhaps this 0x10f stuff has nothing to do with the issue. My
observation was that it seemed like for all the people it was broken for
had GDDR5 ram, which is why I went in this direction.

This patch is based on Andrew's mmiotrace. I saw a sequence of init that
I didn't see in other traces for working cards. Andrew -- would be
interesting if you could check it out and see if it helps. The algorithm
I came up with is insane -- there has to be some sort of data-driven
thing going on there, but I couldn't work it out.

For people having issues, please do a mmiotrace of the blob loading on
your card (see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/MMIOTracing for instructions),
and send it (xz -9'd) to mmio.du...@gmail.com.

[Bug 925782] Re: synaptic will not open in lubuntu 11.10 desktop

2014-03-16 Thread Fabien Lusseau
This bug made a come back on lubuntu 14.04 (still alpha as I write)

On a fresh install, I can't open synaptic and every programs that need
root permissions.

Lubuntu software center opens, but he can't obtain root permissions if I
try to install something.
