[Bug 1293134] [NEW] Laptop does not resume from suspend upon lid open
Public bug reported: Hi, in Windows closing the lid makes it going to sleep and opening the lid makes it resuming. I am using Ubuntu 13.10 on my Samsung Series 7 Chronos 700Z3A-S02DE. When I close the lid the laptop suspends, but on lid open it does not resume until I press the power button. With acpi_listen I see that it fires and recognizes the events for lid close and open and /proc/acpi/button/lid/LID0/state shows the correct state for each lid position. With acpid -d -f -l I see that those events trigger /etc/acpi/events/. I wrote an event that matches lid close/open and calls pm-suspend. But this does not make the laptop resume. I also uncommented the lines in /etc/systemd/logind.conf regarding hibernate and suspend. But this does not work either. So my problem is that the system receivs and understand those ACPI events triggered from the lid actions. But LID0 is not configured as /etc/acpi/wakeup device. Nor echoing it into the file does make it appearing there. So I am at the end of my knowledge and understanding of the ACPI event handling. I've already tried to pass different acpi_osi Strings with grub but the ACPI table does not change nor make it any difference for the suspend/resume problem. If I can give any further information please just ask me to. Adding the Ubuntu package to this bug, since your screenshots and info here clearly show you're running Ubuntu. I still haven't managed to reproduce this problem. [Bug 1255558] Re: Can't type my password after cold boot
I'm running Friday's daily build (3/14/2014), fully up to date as apt- get update apt-get dist-upgrade yields nothing available, and I am still having this issue. In fact out of 12 to 15 boots I only saw it twice, but just not I had to reboot about 14 times to get a boot that allowed me to log in. (2014-03-15) Ubiquity 2.17.9 Apt 0.9.15.4ubuntu2 Booted it from a USB flash drive and installed the Broadcom STA, going to Software Updates - Additional Drivers. It worked great! Then I installed Ubuntu in the hard drive, and the installed version did not have the STA drivers. I can easily see the proprietary driver is not installed: # dmesg | grep b43 [ 10.188127] b43-phy0: Broadcom 4312 WLAN found (core revision 15) [ 10.240601] b43-phy0: Found PHY: Analog 6, Type 5 (LP), Revision 1 [ 10.267103] b43 ssb0:0: Direct firmware load failed with error -2 [ 10.267105] b43 ssb0:0: Falling back to user helper [ 10.778135] b43 ssb0:0: Direct firmware load failed with error -2 [ 10.778141] b43 ssb0:0: Falling back to user helper [ 10.842392] b43 ssb0:0: Direct firmware load failed with error -2 [ 10.842397] b43 ssb0:0: Falling back to user helper [ 10.844949] b43 ssb0:0: Direct firmware load failed with error -2 [ 10.844955] b43 ssb0:0: Falling back to user helper [ 10.846782] b43-phy0 ERROR: Firmware file b43/ucode15.fw not found [ 10.846840] b43-phy0 ERROR: Firmware file b43-open/ucode15.fw not found [ 10.846876] b43-phy0 ERROR: You must go to http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/b43#devicefirmware and download the correct firmware for this driver version. Please carefully read all instructions on this website. And there should be a wl.ko file in the dkms folder. /lib/modules/3.13.0-17-generic/updates/dkms/wl.ko but there isn't even dkms. ok, then I thought, let's just install the driver again, but I can't, I need a Ubuntu DVD. APT cannot see a USB flash drive as a CD/DVD, it can't easily be added as a repository. (maybe I should open an issue to APT too?) So I tried the whole procedure 1 more time, and the same thing happened, I'm able to reproduce the error. I have the skills to install the driver without internet, I only need the dkms and bcmwl-kernel-source deb files, but a lot of users can struggle with it. Maybe this is not a bug, just a feature request, but it would be really helpful. Let me know if you need more information. Most iOS devices have been updated to iOS7 by now, so currently the library is broken in functionality for most users. The git snapshot has been tested to work, but there seems to be no new upstream release being prepared for the time being. The new git snapshot includes several fixes, including the security fix that was previously patched on top of 1.1.5 in Ubuntu. (In reply to comment #29) Created attachment 95418 [details] [review] another patch for gddr5 ram I made this patch using my mmiotrace, but it doesn't help either. Oh well. Indeed the values in your mmiotrace are different, but your and Andrew's mmiotrace are the only traces I've seen that actually have the writes to those 0x10fxyz registers. (A few other traces have writes to the similar-but-different DDR3 registers.) And yes, I definitely did want to use offsets[o] in my patch. Well, perhaps this 0x10f stuff has nothing to do with the issue. My observation was that it seemed like for all the people it was broken for had GDDR5 ram, which is why I went in this direction. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1217585 Title: System hangs after some time with nouveau and GT240 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nouveau/+bug/1217585/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
