[Bug 1293993] [NEW] [MRE] Rebase Xen to upstream stable 4.1.6.1

2014-03-18 Thread Stefan Bader
Public bug reported:

MRE Justification:

Impact: Upstream Xen has released a stable update to 4.1.6.1. Since
Precise is based on 4.1 it would be gaining us bug fixes without waiting
for people to run into them. Like we do with upstream stable on the
kernel.

Fix: Replaced the orig tarballs with the contents of the upstream stable
release. Dropping patches we have picked up already.

Testing: Upstream automated tests and local half-automated testing
(manual preparation of host).

[Bug 1294074] [NEW] php5-gd package missing functions (imagerotate etc.)

2014-03-18 Thread James Lewis
Public bug reported:

There appears to be several people online reporting issues with php5-gd
in Debian Ubuntu which are complaining about missing functions. I
felt that it was worth captuing as this may be a packaging issue, I've
tested on 14.04 latest and I can replicate the issue... it is fine on
RedHat however, for example.

To quote some existing posts on the subject:-

The version Ubuntu uses misses some functions like imagerotate and
imageantialias, which are needed by an increasing number of software
projects.

The issue can be replicated as follows:-

Make sure you have php5-cli, php5-gd, rpm and mc installed.

First, check if you even have a problem. On the commandline type:
php -r var_dump(function_exists('imageantialias'));
This will return bool(false) if you are missing the function imageantialias(),
and bool(true) if the function is pressent.

[Bug 1273865] Re: [MIR] juju-quickstart, python-jujuclient, urwid, websocket-client

2014-03-18 Thread Robie Basak
** Description changed:

  [juju-quickstart]

  Availability: in universe, arch: all.

Rationale: key component for the Juju ecosystem.

Security: no security history. No CVEs found. No suid or sgid
executables. No executables in /sbin or /usr/sbin. No daemons. No
privileged ports (although the Juju GUI does open a privileged port,
which this package deploys). One might consider Juju to be
security-sensitive, as it controls production deployments, and this
package bootstraps Juju. This package uses sudo, although this use is
scheduled to be removed. See bug 1282630.

  Quality assurance:

Upstream ships a thorough test suite which includes 100% SLOC coverage.
By design, this tool makes it possible to use juju with as minimal
configuration as possible and with no documentation reading, by
deploying the GUI for the user and presenting its interface.

No debconf questions. No long-term outstanding bugs.

No relevant packaging bugs. There are a number of active bugs open
upstream; these are being actively worked on by upstream. This package
does not deal with exotic hardware. The upstream test suite is run as
part of the package build, and a failing test suite fails the package
build. A debian/watch file exists and is functional.

  UI standards:

This is an end-user console application and is not internationalized
(not translatable). This is tracked in bug 1292026.

The package does not ship a desktop file. As a console application
designed for developer use, a desktop file has minimal relevance for
  developers.

  Dependencies:

urwid, python-jujuclient and websocket-client are dependencies in
universe. MIR reports follow in this bug.

Standards compliance: standard and minimal dh sequencer based packaging.
FHS compliant and the packaging is up to current Debian policy.

  Maintenance:

Actively maintained upstream, by the Juju GUI team. ~ubuntu-server
commits to maintaining this package in Ubuntu and is subscribed to
  package bugs.

-
  [urwid]

Availability: in universe and built on all architecture.

  Rationale: dependency of juju-quickstart.

Security: no security history. No CVEs found. No suid or sgid
executables. No executables in /sbin or /usr/sbin. No daemons. No
privileged port use is apparent. urwid is a UI library, so may be used
as a UI in security sensitive software, although this isn't the case
  with juju-quickstart.

  Quality assurance:

As a library, this package is functional on installation. No debconf
questions. No major long-term outstanding bugs. Upstream is active. No
  use of exotic hardware.

Test-related packaging bugs in Debian are all fixed in Debian svn. The
only other bug in Debian is believed fixed already. Upstream has more
bugs, but none of them appear to be major issues for general urwid use.

No use of exotic hardware. Test suite is run as part of the package
build, and fails the build if tests fail. debian/watch file is out of
date, but fixed in current Debian svn.

  UI standards: N/A

  Dependencies: all in main.

Standards compliance: minimal cdbs+debhelper based packaging. Ideally
this would use the dh sequencer now, and I get the impression that DPMT
would be happy to switch it. But urwid is a relatively slow moving
project, and the rules file is simple and minimal enough that it doesn't
seem worth switching just for the sake of it. If there is a problem that
requires a change, then it could be switched to dh at that time easily
enough. FHS compliant and the packaging is up to current Debian policy.

urwid is a long-lived relatively stable package, with minimal
maintenance requirements. Upstream is active though, and all bugs in
Debian BTS are fixed in Debian svn. ~ubuntu-server commits to
maintaining this package in Ubuntu and is subscribed to package bugs.

-
  [python-jujuclient]

  Availability: in universe, arch: all.

  Rationale: dependency of juju-quickstart.

Security: no security history. No CVEs found. No suid or sgid
executables. No executables in /sbin or /usr/sbin. No daemons. No
privileged ports. python-jujuclient is used by juju-quickstart to manage
deployments; the deployments themselves are security-sensitive.

  Quality assurance:

As a library, this package is functional on installation. No debconf
questions. No long-term outstanding bugs. Upstream is active. No use of
  exotic hardware.

- No relevant upstream test suite.
+ No relevant upstream test suite; tracked in bug 1293467.

debian/watch file is present and working.

  UI standards: N/A

Dependencies: websocket-client is in universe (also see bug 1292502
regarding the package naming of this dependency). MIR report follows.

Standards compliance: standard and minimal dh sequencer based packaging.
FHS compliant and the packaging is up to current Debian policy.

[Bug 1278466] Re: [FFe] ceph firefly 0.78.1 stable release

2014-03-18 Thread James Page
Update from upstream:

Hi everyone,

It's taken longer than expected, but the tests for v0.78 are calming down
and it looks like we'll be able to get the release out this week.

However, we've decided NOT to make this release firefly. It will be a
normal development release. This will be the first release that includes
some key new functionality (erasure coding and cache tiering) and although
it is passing our tests we'd like to have some operational experience with
it in more users' hands before we commit to supporting it long term.

The tentative plan is to freeze and then release v0.79 after a normal two
week cycle. This will serve as a 'release candidate' that shaves off a
few rough edges from the pending release (including some improvements with
the API for setting up erasure coded pools). It is possible that 0.79
will turn into firefly, but more likely that we will opt for another two
weeks of hardening and make 0.80 the release we name firefly and maintain
for the long term.

Long story short: 0.78 will be out soon, and you should test it! It is
will vary from the final firefly in a few subtle ways, but any feedback or
usability and bug reports at this point will be very helpful in shaping
things.

Thanks!
sage

This probably means that the firefly release is still +1month away.

2014-03-18 Thread Robie Basak
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 74647 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/74647

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

This is a duplicate of a long-standing Won't Fix issue. As far as I
can determine from the previous comments, PHP upstream have forked GD
and not sent their changes upstream, and it is Debian and Ubuntu's
policy to use system libraries over bundled ones for security reasons.
See the original bug for details.

Please do continue to report any other bugs you find.

[Bug 1294074] Re: php5-gd package missing functions (imagerotate etc.)

2014-03-18 Thread James Lewis
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 74647 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/74647

** Description changed:

There appears to be several people online reporting issues with php5-gd
in Debian Ubuntu which are complaining about missing functions. I
felt that it was worth captuing as this may be a packaging issue, I've
tested on 14.04 latest and I can replicate the issue... it is fine on
  RedHat however, for example.

To quote some existing posts on the subject:-

The version Ubuntu uses misses some functions like imagerotate and
imageantialias, which are needed by an increasing number of software
  projects.

The issue can be replicated as follows:-

- Make sure you have php5-cli, php5-gd, rpm and mc installed.
+ Make sure you have php5-cli, php5-gd.

First, check if you even have a problem. On the commandline type:
  php -r var_dump(function_exists('imageantialias'));
This will return bool(false) if you are missing the function
imageantialias(), and bool(true) if the function is pressent.

[Bug 1278466] Re: [FFe] ceph firefly stable release

2014-03-18 Thread Dave Walker
James, thanks for the update.

Based on this, do you think Trusty should:
 - Stick with the current version

Or.

 - Target 0.78 for release, but then...
- If 0.79 has minimal changes, and improves stability - get that in prior
to release, if the dates make it suitable.
- Review changes between 0.79 and Firefly (potentially 0.79 or more likely
.80), if a suitable candidate - pursue MRE). If this is likely, we should both
release note - and be confident that the update testing has good levels of
rigour, with no config changes.

There is no need anymore to use bundled gd as long as gd 2.1 is used. We
have implemented all missing features in the upstream libgd.

[Bug 1294172] [NEW] Race condition between bridge-utils pre-up and udev scripts

2014-03-18 Thread Paul Donohue
Public bug reported:

I have the following in my /etc/network/interfaces to configure a GRE-
TAP tunnel and attach it to a bridge:

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
  address 10.11.12.13
  netmask 255.255.255.0
  gateway 10.11.12.1

auto l2gre0
iface l2gre0 inet manual
pre-up ip link add name $IFACE type gretap local 10.11.12.13 remote
10.13.14.15
up ip link set dev $IFACE up
down ip link set dev $IFACE down
  post-down ip link delete $IFACE

auto sw0
iface sw0 inet manual
pre-up ip link set dev eth1 promisc on
  bridge_ports eth1 l2gre0
  bridge_stp off
  bridge_fd 0.1
  bridge_maxwait 0
  post-up sysctl -q net.ipv4.conf.sw0.rp_filter=0

I've found that on reboot, about 50% of the time the bridge comes up
fine, and about 50% of the time the bridge comes up half-configured (it
has l2gre0 attached but not eth1, and the stp and fd settings are not
configured). When it fails, device sw0 already exists; can't create
bridge with the same name shows up in the logs.

The problem seems to be a race condition between /lib/bridge-utils/ifupdown.sh
and /lib/udev/bridge-network-interface ... The sequence of events is the
following:
  udev event triggered for eth0
udev event triggered for eth1 (ignored by bridge-network-interface because
/run/network doesn't exist yet)
  udev event triggered for lo
  ifup called for eth0
  ifup called for lo
  ifup called for l2gre0
Then, the following two operations happen in parallel:
  udev event triggered for l2gre0
  ifup called for sw0
If ifup happens to reach the 'brctl addbr' command in
/lib/bridge-utils/ifupdown.sh first, everything works fine. However, if the
udev trigger happens to reach the 'brctl addbr' command in
/lib/udev/bridge-network-interface first, then /lib/bridge-utils/ifupdown.sh
will fail, and the bridge will not be properly configured.

This race condition appears to have been introduced by the fix for Bug
#1003656 ... Before that fix, /lib/udev/bridge-network-interface would
call 'ifup sw0' instead of just 'brctl addbr sw0', and 'ifup sw0' would
ensure that only one of the two threads called 'brctl addbr'.

As for fixing this problem, I can't say that I'm aware of every possible
use case here, but it seems to me that /lib/udev/bridge-network-
interface simply should not call 'brctl addbr'. According to
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=626152 this udev
trigger was added to ensure that devices are properly added to the
bridge if the bridge happens to come up before all of the physical
network interfaces have been probed by the kernel. However, if
/lib/udev/bridge-network-interface is called before the bridge comes up,
shouldn't it simply ignore the event and let /lib/bridge-
utils/ifupdown.sh bring the bridge up and add the interface later?

[Bug 1294200] [NEW] test linked against nih-dbus-tool-generated libraryis not thread-safe

2014-03-18 Thread Serge Hallyn
Public bug reported:

I've taken the libnih source for trusty, and added '--enable-threads' to
the three dh_auto_configure lines in debian/rules, rebuilt ,and
installed the result. Then I took the source for cgmanager package,
rebuilt, and installed.

Finally I took github.com/cgmanager/cgmanager, copied the configure.ac,
Makefile.am, and tests/cgm-concurrent.c into the cgmanager package
source, and built tests/cgm-concurrent.c.

The cgm-concurrent.c only connects to the cgmanager dbus server, sends a
ping method, and disconnects - with one connection per thread.

When I do cgm-concurrent -i 100 -j 30 -c (meaning use 30 threads and do
100 full iterations, and don't do any extra dbus calls), I get pretty
random dumps. Here is one example:

Sometimes they show up in nih_free, where usually the thing being freed
has a -next which points to a member function; sometimes they show up
in the dbus library at various points.

I may well be doing something wrong, but I don't know what. If we can't
either fix what I'm doing wrong or fix libnih or libdbus (if those are
being buggy), then I guess I'll have to mutex the connection among all
threads.

[Bug 1278466] Re: [FFe] ceph firefly stable release

2014-03-18 Thread James Page
1) stick with current version

I don't think this is a good idea; the emperor release we have in
archive right now is a stable release but is not schedule for long term
focus from upstream.

2) get to firefly in a sane way

I think this is a better approach; interim releases are generally pretty
good from Ceph so moving forward during the dev cycle feels like the
right thing todo so that the step to firefly either as a zero-day SRU or
as a normal SRU won't be so great.

We would need to detail this in the release notes so that the ceph
position is clear for 14.04 early adopters.

Note that we already have a MRE for minor releases - this is outside the
scope of that.

Hi Serge,

Looking at nih's configure.ac, you actually want to use '--enable-

aware it was there.

D'oh! thanks. the enable-threads= obviously confused me. I'll re-test
with that option.

If that option *does* work, then as xnox suggested yesterday we may need
to have a separate package with threading-enabled libnih.

[Bug 1294239] [NEW] dnsmasq preventing DNS lookup with firepass sspvn

2014-03-18 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I am using Linux Mint 13 (based on Ubuntu 12.04).
Since upgrading I could not access my workdesktop. This solution uses a F5
firepass plugin in Firefox to create a sslvpn tunnel. Then I connect to my
virtual desktop by VMware View Client.
The F5 firepass connection would build up without problems. But the Vmware View
Client would fail to connect to the View Server with the error message Could
not resolve hostname. After aquiring the IP address of the View Server I could
connect again without trouble.
It seems the dnsmasq package prevents dns lookup in this setting. But disabling
it in network manager broke DNS lookup altogether.

[Bug 1294239] [NEW] dnsmasq preventing DNS lookup with firepass sslvpn

2014-03-18 Thread GNUbee40
Public bug reported:

** Affects: dnsmasq (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Package changed: xfce4-panel (Ubuntu) = dnsmasq (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1294267] [NEW] tgt doesn't export some LUNs after a reload operation (SIGHUP)

2014-03-18 Thread Rarylson Freitas
Public bug reported:

Sometime, after run a `reload tgt`, some LUNs aren't correctly added to
the targets.

The error will be reproduced above:

$ tgt-admin --dump

default-driver iscsi

target iqn.2014-03.br.com.2aliancas.storage2:vmware_iscsi_4
backing-store /dev/vg_vmware/vmware_4
initiator-address 192.168.130.0/24
initiator-address 127.0.0.1
/target

target iqn.2014-03.br.com.2aliancas.storage2:vmware_iscsi_3

backing-store /dev/vg_vmware/vmware_2
initiator-address 192.168.130.0/24
initiator-address 127.0.0.1
/target

target iqn.2014-03.br.com.2aliancas.storage2:vmware_iscsi_1
backing-store /dev/vg_vmware/vmware_1

initiator-address 127.0.0.1
/target

target iqn.2014-03.br.com.2aliancas.storage2:vmware_iscsi_5
backing-store /dev/vg_vmware/vmware_5
initiator-address 192.168.130.0/24
initiator-address 127.0.0.1
/target

Now, we'll send a SIGHUP signal to tgt:

$ reload tgt
# run `kill -SIGHUP $TGT_ROOT_PID` have the same behavior
$ tgt-admin --dump

default-driver iscsi

target iqn.2014-03.br.com.2aliancas.storage2:vmware_iscsi_4
backing-store /dev/vg_vmware/vmware_4
initiator-address 192.168.130.0/24
initiator-address 127.0.0.1
/target

target iqn.2014-03.br.com.2aliancas.storage2:vmware_iscsi_3

backing-store /dev/vg_vmware/vmware_5
initiator-address 192.168.130.0/24
initiator-address 127.0.0.1
/target

Now, some target LUNs weren't correcty attached to the target
(/dev/vg_vmware/vmware_1, /dev/vg_vmware/vmware_2 and
/dev/vg_vmware/vmware_3 in my example).

[Bug 1294267] Re: tgt doesn't export some LUNs after a reload operation (SIGHUP)

2014-03-18 Thread Rarylson Freitas
I think the problem can be related to this fact: the TGT daemon don't
add a block storage to a LUN if some process was accessing it.

The following command show another operation in which a similar problem
occours:

# All block storage added to the targets
$ tgt-admin --dump | grep -o backing-store \(.*\) | sed -e s/^backing-store
\(.*\)$/\1/
/dev/vg_vmware/vmware_4
/dev/vg_vmware/vmware_3
/dev/vg_vmware/vmware_2
/dev/vg_vmware/vmware_1
/dev/vg_vmware/vmware_5
# Now, we'll run a stop/start operation. Some device block (previously LUNs)
still opened by some process
# between the `stop` and `start` operations. In our case, the device blocks was
opened by the command `blkid`,
# running with the 'root' user.
$ stop tgt; lsof /dev/mapper/vg_vmware-vmware_1 /dev/mapper/vg_vmware-vmware_2 \
$ /dev/mapper/vg_vmware-vmware_3  /dev/mapper/vg_vmware-vmware_4 \
$ /dev/mapper/vg_vmware-vmware_5; start tgt; tgt-admin --dump | grep -o
backing-store \(.*\) | \
$ sed -e s/^backing-store \(.*\)$/\1/
tgt stop/waiting
COMMAND PID USER FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE/OFFNODE NAME

tgt start/running, process 29878
/dev/vg_vmware/vmware_5
$ ls -lh /dev/mapper/vg_vmware-vmware_1 /dev/mapper/vg_vmware-vmware_2
/dev/mapper/vg_vmware-vmware_3 /dev/mapper/vg_vmware-vmware_4
/dev/mapper/vg_vmware-vmware_5
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 7 Mar 18 15:27 /dev/mapper/vg_vmware-vmware_1 - ../dm-0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 7 Mar 18 15:27 /dev/mapper/vg_vmware-vmware_2 - ../dm-2
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 7 Mar 18 15:27 /dev/mapper/vg_vmware-vmware_3 - ../dm-3
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 7 Mar 18 15:27 /dev/mapper/vg_vmware-vmware_4 - ../dm-4
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 7 Mar 18 15:27 /dev/mapper/vg_vmware-vmware_5 - ../dm-5

In our test, four device blocks (vg_vmware-vmware_1, vg_vmware-vmware_2,
vg_vmware-vmware_3 and vg_vmware-vmware_4) were opened by the blkid
command, and the `start tgt` command (that runs `/usr/sbin/tgt-admin
-e`) only adds the other lun (vg_vmware-vmware_5).

I hope this test helps.

In this case, only the /dev/vg_vmware/vmware_5 device block was added as

[Bug 1294284] [NEW] LXC Ubuntu containers do not start in Ubuntu 14.04

2014-03-18 Thread Juho Lehto
Public bug reported:

I have a testing server which I installed Ubuntu 13.10 and then upgraded
to Ubuntu 14.04 beta using do-release-upgrade -d. I do not have the
option to create clean install with 14.04 directly as hosting provider
does not offer it yet (for obvious reasons).

Anyhow, after installing lxc and creating a new Ubuntu container using
lxc-create -t ubuntu -n ubuntu I tried to start it using lxc-start -n
ubuntu.

I receive lots of errors and it never reaches login prompt. I have to
stop the server from another shell session using lxc-stop -n ubuntu.
Combined output of start and stop below.

[Bug 1294280] [NEW] [CVE-2014-0133] SPDY Heap Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

2014-03-18 Thread Thomas Ward
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

Public security bug reported:

This is CVE-2014-0133.

This is Debian Bug 742059.

--

This was the nginx announcement of this issue:

Hello!

A bug in the experimental SPDY implementation in nginx was found, which
might allow an attacker to cause a heap memory buffer overflow in a
worker process by using a specially crafted request, potentially
resulting in arbitrary code execution (CVE-2014-0133).

The problem affects nginx 1.3.15 - 1.5.11, compiled with the
ngx_http_spdy_module module (which is not compiled by default) and
without --with-debug configure option, if the spdy option of the
listen directive is used in a configuration file.

The problem is fixed in nginx 1.5.12, 1.4.7.

Patch for the problem can be found here:

http://nginx.org/download/patch.2014.spdy2.txt

Thanks to Lucas Molas, researcher at Programa STIC, Fundación Dr. Manuel
Sadosky, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

[Bug 1294248] Re: ubuntu kvm upgrade failure

2014-03-18 Thread James Page
Hi Ed

I tried to reproduce this by dist-upgrade'ing a havana compute node to
icehouse and although I see the same error post upgrade, the kvm package
is just a transitional package so it not require for the operation of
the system post upgrade AFAICT.

You can see why it gets un-installed:

Conflicts: kvm ( 1:84+dfsg-0ubuntu16+0.11.0), kvm-data, qemu (
0.11.0-0ubuntu5)

(from qemu-kvm in icehouse CA).

[Bug 1278466] Re: [FFe] ceph firefly stable release

2014-03-18 Thread Dave Walker
Sage, thanks for your input.

James, If we are committing to Firefly for Trusty, I would suggest
getting 0.78 in ASAP to maximise potential exposure. I agree, with
testing 0.79 in PPA first, but again - we probably want to try and get
it in as soon as possible. That said, if 0.79 is looking late - or
concerns with testing, it might be prudent to consider THAT for post
release in addition.

As Ceph isn't shipped on any iso media, we are safe from image spin.
However, please can you consider raw apt-get, juju charms and the
upstream ceph-deploy as part of your 0.79 onwards testing.

Providing final Firefly is bug fixes and transparent optimisation, I
would be happy to consider it for SRU/MRE post release. However, please
make sure this is well documented on the release notes.

James, I am quite confident you will take personal responsibility to
ensure that this process is as smooth as is required.

Thanks.

FFe Granted for 0.78, with condition of clear release notes. Please
update this bug as information appears about status of 0.79-Firefly.

[Bug 1289318] Re: Samba dumps core if you try to export keytab in trusty

2014-03-18 Thread Rowland Penny
18th Mar 19:00
OK, just downloaded an update and I am now on 2:4.1.3+dfsg-2ubuntu4, I still
cannot get a keytab, same reason. Another user has also reported the same
problem on the samba mailing list. I can confirm that this problem is easily
repeatable, just install a fresh version of Ubuntu 14.04, install samba and
provision as a DC, then try and get a keytab, I can confirm that you will not
get it!!!

The only way that I can get a samba AD server to work on Ubuntu 14.04 is
to download all the samba packages from debian jessie and install these,
then it works, so could I please plead with you to stop messing about,
drop version 4.1.3 and update to version 4.1.5 from jessie, Please, I
beg you, I am down on my bended knees ;-)

Adding

 -global cirrus-vga.vgamem_mb=10

to the receiving end's qemu command line options brings us past that
error. You may end up with other incompatibilities (I did) but perhaps
libvirt will ensure the rest of the devices match up. Please let us
know how it fares with that option.

Sorry, I guess that doesn't help much with your use of libvirt.

Can you please show the xml for the original VM you are migrating? It
can and should be specifying a vga ram size.

[Bug 1294284] Re: LXC Ubuntu containers do not start in Ubuntu 14.04

2014-03-18 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks for reporting this bug. This is definately very odd.

If you create a container with

  sudo lxc-create -t download -n u1 -- -d ubuntu -r trusty -a amd64
  sudo lxc-start -n u1

does that container start fine?

Can you do

  sudo lxc-start -n ubuntu -l trace -o debug.out

then kill the container and paste debug.out here?

Is there anything else custom about your system? Who is your hosting
provider?

[Bug 1294332] [NEW] MAAS fails to manage power for system with Intel Integrated BMC

2014-03-18 Thread Jeff Lane
Public bug reported:

I have a system with an intel iBMC onboard.

MAAS can successfully create the maas user and add/change the password,
and it also has the correct administrator priviliges.

MAAS also created the user in slot 6, the first available, rather than
choking on slot 4 or 10.

HOWEVER, any time I try to use MAAS to actually power the machine on, I
see a traceback in the celery log and the system fails to come on.

I CAN, however, control the system via IPMI directly (ipmitool) to bring
it up or down.

MAAS sets the power for this system to IPMI 2.0

Here's the traceback from celery.log, not that it's terribly informative:
[2014-03-18 15:32:34,605: ERROR/MainProcess] Task

PowerActionFail

I also attempted to set the power type to PMI 1.5 and that too produced
the same traceback and failure to power on.

[Bug 1291321] Re: migration fails between 12.04 Precise and 14.04 Trusty

2014-03-18 Thread Valentijn Sessink
error: Unable to read from monitor: Connection reset by peer and the machine
crashed :-(
Next try, same as always: Length mismatch: vga.vram: 100 in != 80
That's a weird side effect, sometimes not only migration fails, but the machine
on the source host crashes, too. Did you reproduce that as well?

[Bug 1294280] Re: [CVE-2014-0133] SPDY Heap Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

2014-03-18 Thread Thomas Ward
Key thing to check is if all binaries build with the --with-debug
option. If they all build with it, then we are not vulnerable.
(according to the Debian people)

Re: [Bug 1291321] Re: migration fails between 12.04 Precise and 14.04 Trusty

2014-03-18 Thread Serge Hallyn
Quoting Valentijn Sessink (valent...@sessink.nl):
When you add a machine with virt-manager, the display setting is model
 type='cirrus' vram='9216' heads='1'/. I tried to set it to 10240 (which
is 10mb) but that didn't help - the error is the same.

Yes, oddly the way to specify this is to add

 qemu:commandline
  qemu:arg value='-global'/
  qemu:arg value='cirrus-vga.vgamem_mb=8'/
 /qemu:commandline

to the domain xml. However, when I tried adding that in precise it
seems to immediately disappear. It could be something odd about my
setup so is worth your trying it.

I think this is bug 1293791

Please try the suggested patch: http://paste.ubuntu.com/7113619/

If it works, this can be marked as a duplicate.

2014-03-18 Thread Michael F. Miller
I'm hitting the same problem at HP. During one maas bring up the SUT did
power on and off as I expected. Since that run it fails as desribed
above.
