[Bug 1306887] [NEW] [Regression] Muon updater system tray icon says there are updates when there are none

2014-04-11 Thread Sparhawk
Public bug reported:

Recently, the Muon updater icon has been appearing in the system tray. When I
mouseover, it says updates are available.

However, when I click the icon to open the window, there are no updates
available.

[Bug 1306877] Re: sshd stops accepting new connections after configuration reload

2014-04-11 Thread TAKAHASHI Shuhei
This is the change I mentioned above:
https://github.com/nya3jp/openssh-debian/commit/0334ce32304e9ba2a10ee5ca49ca6e8ff3ba6cf4

As a workaround, I commented out these two lines in /etc/init/ssh.conf:
  # env SSH_SIGSTOP=1
  # expect stop

Now "initctl reload ssh" works fine, though I'm not really sure I'm
doing a "right" thing.

Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to

[Bug 1306884] [NEW] Chrome Pixel Second Suspend Fails

2014-04-11 Thread Noah J. Chelliah
Public bug reported:

What happens:

First time Pixel is suspended everything works fine. The second time the
Pixel resumes from standby it reboots. This was documented in previous
releases but a workaround was found by manually loading

tpm_tis force=1 interrupts=0.

In Ubuntu 14.04 loading the tpm_tis force=1 interrupts=0 module via
/etc/modules has no effect. Manually loading the tpm_tis force=1
interrupts=0 via modprobe has no effect.

What's expected:
When the lid is closed the laptop goes into standby. When the lid is opened the
laptop will resume.

[Bug 1306880] [NEW] virt-manager / libvirt fails to create VM due to PCI ordering bug

2014-04-11 Thread aenertia
Public bug reported:

Hi there;

libvirt in trusty has a bug where VM's fail to get defined due to PCI
bus ordering bugs.

Redhat bug tracker info here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=823535

Appears to be the same bug.

Steps to reproduce:

* Open Virt-manager
* Define a new VM
( I used reactos installer iso)
* Attempt to run.

Get something like this:
"

"

Attempted resolutions:

Removing Devices/reordering them via virt-manager still fails to solve
the issue ( you manually need to hack at the .xml definition).

[Bug 1306877] [NEW] sshd stops accepting new connections after configuration reload

2014-04-11 Thread TAKAHASHI Shuhei
Public bug reported:

When upstart is enabled, sshd stops accepting new connections after
reloading configuration by "initctl reload ssh".

It looks like sshd is frozen with SIGSTOP after receiving SIGHUP.

[nya@sora ~]% ps auxww | grep sshd
root 10557 0.0 0.1 61364 3056 ?Ss 13:46 0:00 /usr/sbin/sshd
-D
[nya@sora ~]% sudo strace -p 10557
Process 10557 attached
select(7, [3 4], NULL, NULL, NULL^CProcess 10557 detached

[nya@sora ~]% sudo reload ssh
[nya@sora ~]% sudo strace -p 10557
Process 10557 attached
--- stopped by SIGSTOP ---

I guess it's caused by a Debian-specific patch:
debian/patches/sigstop.patch. The patch makes sshd STOP when it's ready
to start and have upstart resume it by specifying "expect stop" in
/etc/init/ssh.conf. On receiving SIGHUP sshd re-executes itself and
STOPs again, but upstart does not perform resume.

Reproduced under Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty
Package version: openssh 1:6.6p1-2

[Bug 1294729] Re: BUG: pcmC1D0c:0, pos = 5461, buffer size = 5461, period size = 2730

2014-04-11 Thread Len Ovens
This happens at login. It is something to do with the nvidia driver
(304.117) because when I switch to Nouveau the problem goes away. I can
reboot or logout/in and there is no problem.

I do not know if it is the nvidia driver itself, or something it
touches.

[Bug 1306203] Re: There is no way to start a new call while on an existing call

2014-04-11 Thread Selene Scriven
I tested multiple calls in image 291, to verify it doesn't work before
landing this branch. Much to my surprise, it worked.

Dialer -> call someone.
Left-edge swipe -> contacts -> select contact -> call.
Suddenly two calls are active.

I didn't actually think it would work though, and tried to cancel the
second call... and, again to my surprise, the 'hang up' button doesn't
seem to work in that situation. I had to hang up using the first phone
I called, wait for the Ubuntu phone to notice, and then I could make the
second call end.

I think I'll wait to continue testing until I can get a third phone in
the same room, which should be in a few hours.

[Bug 1227034] Re: Default Chinese font changed to fonts-arphic-ukai after completing language support installation for zh-* locales

2014-04-11 Thread Ping-Wu
Hi Gunnar,

Thanks for the good work. The zh_CN locale now works as expected.

However, I wish I could say the same thing for the en_US locale. I am
attaching a screenshot showing that many Chinese characters were missing
(represented by rectangles) when running the Chromium browser.

I would like to note several other observations:

1. The missing Chinese characters were properly shown in Firefox.
I.e., No problem in Firefox, big problem in Chromium.

2. In Chromium, I cannot find Droid Sans Fallback fonts in the
(Setting --> Select default fonts).

3. I am also encountering missing Chinese character problems in using
Fcitx (Chinese input engine). This may render Ubuntu 14.04 unusable for
(at least) English locale users who have a need to input Chinese
characters.

4. In zh_CN.UTF-8 locale, the command ' fc-match "sans" ' returns

  DroidSansFallbackFull.ttf: "Droid Sans" "Regular"

4. In en_US.UTF-8 locale, the same command ' fc-match "sans" ' returns

 DejaVuSans.ttf: "DejaVu Sans" "Book"
language-selector fix

[Bug 60813] Re: Incorrect position of maximized windows after moving to another screen

2014-04-11 Thread Spencer
I just filed a duplicate of this 1306860 (oops).

On my system with a dual-screen setup where the secondary monitor is in
a portrait orientation. If I maximize a window in my secondary monitor
and then click and move a window on the primary screen the maximized
window on my secondary screen re-renders with the top of the window at
the same height as my primary screen (see screenshot).

Clicking on the maximized window on my secondary screen puts it back in
full-screen.

It might be the sound syncing with AccountsService. All the dbus code I
added is async, but there might be synchronous code elsewhere that is
getting exercised now?

[Bug 1306677] Re: [PPC64EL] kernel command line gets truncated at 512

2014-04-11 Thread Blake Rouse
I used linux-
image-3.13.0-24-powerpc64-smp_3.13.0-24.46~lp1306677_powerpc.deb and
extracted the vmlinux image from the package. I replaced the boot-kernel
image on the MAAS server, and I am seeing the same result in the dmesg
output. The kernel command line output is still truncated, looking the
same as above.

[Bug 1306848] [NEW] Modem (Huawei EC 1260-2) cannot establish connection but it detected on nm-applet

2014-04-11 Thread imor...@gmail.com
Public bug reported:

I have used this modem (huawei EC 1260-2) since ubuntu 12.04 untill
13.10 and it runs fine. But with ubuntu 14.04. nm-applet detects my
modem but cannot establish the connection. My configuration was correct.

Below I will explain further information, the correlation between nm-
applet and mobile partner (huawei gui)

The chronology:

1. Plug the modem and then network-manager (nm) detects my modem.
(I have set up the configuration and rebooted before) I'm trying to
establish the connection.
2. The nm-applet shows it's trying to establish the connection, but the modem
LED is still blinking slowly like it hasn't established the connection.
(Blinking faster are indicating that the modem is trying to establishes the
connection)
3. After that I install Mobile Partner (which I used on my Ubuntu 12.04 and
13.10) and the installations were successful, reboot my PC as usual.
4. Then I'm trying to plug in the modem again and network-manager applet
detects my modem, Mobile Partner displays its window.
5. Then a dialog from Mobile Partner suddenly automatically appears that says:
"the device has been disconnected or unavailable", no signal was detected and
the 'connect' button is grayed out.
6. But the network-manager still shows the detection of my modem. OK, trying to
connect through network-manager, but like before it fails.

The correlations are:

1. Mobile Partner says my modem is disconnected, but network manager still
detects my modem, but cannot establish the connection. In my previous version
of Ubuntu, when I unplugged my modem, Mobile Partner said: the device has been
disconnected or unavailable and the network-manager did not detect my modem.
2. But now in Ubuntu 14.04 beta 2, I did not unplug my modem and Mobile Partner
says: the device has been disconnected or unavailable and network manager still
detects my modem, but cannot establish the connection.
3. As usual, when trying to establish the connection, the modem LED indicator
is blinking faster, but now doesn't like that (It means that there are no
activity on modem while nm-applet show it trying to connect).

2014-04-11 Thread Yuv
I am on libreoffice 4.2.3.3 and it is completely, utterly broken.
I have text with a footnote. In the footnote I have reference to the footnote
number of another footnote. I copy paste the text. It creates a new footnote.
The reference in the new footnote is to itself! With a 24 hours deadline
looming...

[Bug 1306852] [NEW] Window resize widget misplaced in Thunderbird

2014-04-11 Thread scruss
Public bug reported:

Instead of having the resize widget/handle at the bottom riht of the
window, Thunderbird puts it right next to the message count numbers in
the status bar. This hides anything useful in the status bar, like URL
display. The window can be resized with this widget, even though it's
only ⅛ along the window.

This does not happen the first time I run it after an upgrade, but seems
to do so every time after.

[Bug 1306847] [NEW] Ubuntu 12.04.04 LTS can't resume from automatic suspend. Wi-fi on.

2014-04-11 Thread Kunal Sangwan
Public bug reported:

I was away from my laptop which has Ubuntu 12.04.04 LTS running. I have
set the power settings to be such that it suspends itself after 5
minutes of inactivity. However, when I tried to make it resume from the
suspension state by pressing any key, alas, the OS reboots itself. Every
time. ! Yes, I had Wi-fi enabled, working and connected that time.

[Bug 1306846] [NEW] Inkscape (using cairo) fails to print thin lines to PDF

2014-04-11 Thread Jürgen Weigert
Public bug reported:

Since 1.12.3, cairo cannot render fine lines to pdf. 1.12.2 was the last
version that worked.

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/cair/diff/?id=bdf83008f4b2c723fd8e65e2a92bc47a2e7bc442

introduced code to avoid lines that would be invisible when rasterized.
While this is a valid logic for raster backends, it is a bad idea for
PDF output. There we want to see all fine lines.

My specific use case is generating a lasercutter drawing for an Epilog
Zing laser with inkscape. There the hardware would raster anything
thicker than 0.02mm, and cut 0.01mm or below. 1.12.3 skips lines below
0.036mm, 1.13.1 skips lines below 0.018mm -- which is still not enough
to safely drive my lasercutter.

Previously reported against inkscape:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1174909

Also reported agains cairo upstream with a suggested fix:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=77298
Check out the attached reproducer and fix.

I'd suggest to circulate patched ubuntu packages, until upstream
releases an official fix.

[Bug 1306829] Re: arm64 regression: goroutine 4 [running]: unexpected fault address 0x1238

2014-04-11 Thread Michael Hudson-Doyle
This is my fault; somehow I sent Adam the old versions of Will's patch
in the debdiff I attached to bug 1279620. Sorry guys :(

The correct version is https://sourceware.org/ml/libc-
alpha/2014-04/msg6.html. The fix is changing

ldr x1, [x9, UCONTEXT_SIGMASK]

to

add x1, x9, #UCONTEXT_SIGMASK

(alongside some whitespace only fixes)

[Bug 974838] Re: Wireless Dropout - Tx aggregation enabled on ra (workaround: iwlwifi requires 11n_disable=1)

2014-04-11 Thread rCX
Had the same problem and saw many "Tx aggregation enabled on ra" errors in
syslog.
The suggested workaround ("options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1" in
/etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf) seems to fix this.

OS: Ubuntu 12.04
Kernel: 3.2.0-60-generic
