** Description changed:

- In chief cost, a thriving slimming fasting is one that same to a inbred,

with the calories in contains low to a sufficiently low direct to produced

[Bug 1309907] [NEW] User account dialog offers fingerprint login even if libpam-fprintd not installed

2014-04-19 Thread Rüdiger Kupper
Public bug reported:

libpam-fprintd is not a dependecy of fprintd, so it is possible to have fprintd
installed, but not libpam-fprintd.
If this is so, the user account dialog in system setting still offers to enroll
fingerprints (which is technically correct) and then claims that the user can
login with the fingerprint reader (which is NOT correct).
The user account dialog should check for the presence of libpam-fprintd (not
fprintd), or the former should be a dependency of the latter.

2014-04-19 Thread ralphb
Some additional information about the partitions:

Since I did a successful manual installation in the meantime (i.e., not
using the installer for setting up encryption) I now simulated a fresh
install by deleting my swap partition /dev/sda7 and trying to create a
new encrypted partition using the installer.

All partitions show up as sdbX since I'm booting from a USB stick.

The simple fact to switch to a TTY reactivate the screen. There are also no

So probably neither an Xorg nor a driver issue.

[Bug 1309896] [NEW] perl dumps core in DBI->data_sources('mysql', { host => 'unresolvable' })

2014-04-19 Thread Lasse Makholm
Public bug reported:

Perl seems to trip up on a bad munmap() when attempting to connect to an
unresoavlable host:

lasse@depravity:~$ perl -MDBI -e 'DBI->data_sources("mysql", { host =>
"unresolvable" })'
*** Error in `perl': munmap_chunk(): invalid pointer: 0x7fffd31bb950 ***
Aborted (core dumped)

A plain connect works:

lasse@depravity:~$ perl -MDBI -e 'DBI->connect("dbi:mysql:host=unresolvable")'
DBI connect('host=unresolvable','',...) failed: Unknown MySQL server host

[Bug 1309897] [NEW] screen changes terminal width on launch with TERM=xterm-256color

2014-04-19 Thread ChanMin Kim
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
GNU bash, version 4.3.8(1)-release (x86_64-pc-linux-gnu)
Screen version 4.01.00devel (GNU) 2-May-06

Screen changes terminal width on launch. I was using default
configurations of screen. (no .screenrc in home directory)

steps

1. Change the terminal width to other than 80.
2. Type "export TERM=xterm-256color" in the shell.
3. Type "screen".
4. now it changes the terminal width to 80.

I have found that changing a line in /etc/screenrc helps. (no more
resizing on screen launch)

termcapinfo xterm 'is=\E[r\E[m\E[2J\E[H\E[?7h\E[?1;4;6l'

[Bug 1309895] [NEW] window manager won't install

Kubuntu didn't install comlpletely, I upgrated from 13.10 to 14.04 but when I
open a browser, I can't switch to fullscreen and I have no window manager to

When I try to install a Window manager in synaptic it says that I have broken

[Bug 1309890] [NEW] No video with hybrid graphics Hd4000+820M

2014-04-19 Thread Lars Hansson
Public bug reported:

I have a laptop with hybrid graphics Intel HD4000 + Nvidia 820M and I get no
video after installing nvidia-331-updates.
X goes to low graphics mode.
This is working in 13.10 with nvidia-119-updates and nvidia-prime so this is a
regression.
X.org log attached.
It seems the 820M card can't find any attached display devices and tries to set
video mode NULL. On 14.04 the "Validated MetaModes" are NULL while on 13.10
they are "nvidia-auto-select".

[Bug 1309374] Re: Freetuxtv broken by latest libvlc change: need 0.6.6 upgrade

2014-04-19 Thread dino99
I've installed that 0.66 deb package from Sid, and the results are still
garbage:
- the icons are not set
- the chanels mostly fails to load

0.65, before it ended to fail recently, was working (only with some
channels) without tweaking the firewall (gufw) ports rights; so now i
will investigate on that side too.

Debian still report some bugs (and having some patches):

[Bug 1289977] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 Update breaks grub, resulting in "error: symbol 'grub_term_highlight_color' not found"

2014-04-19 Thread Forage
Same thing occurred when I tried to upgrade ubuntu gnome from 13.10 to
14.04. I've got a dual boot system for year now and it was never
considered incorrectly configured in the past, installing and upgrading
Ubuntu always worked. I think this bug can't be considered invalid
because we have supposedly done something wrong manually. This is not
the case if you ask me.

Running boot-repair on a live usb fixed the issue for me, following the
provided steps: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Repair

However, thunar-volman fails to mount any removable media.

I've made the following script as a workaround for the issue:

cat /usr/local/bin/thunar-volman
#!/bin/sh
sleep 1
exec /usr/bin/thunar-volman $@ >/tmp/thunar-volman.log 2>&1

Mount succeeds if thunar-volman is started after a small delay.
If I comment "#sleep 1", mount fails and the output of /tmp/thunar-volman.log

The problem seems to be in the inconsitency between thunar and thunar-
volman.

Thunar seems to be using UDEV events to detect device add/remove, while
thunar-volman uses GVolumeMonitor to find a volume corresponding to the
added device and mount it. The problem is gvolume monitor has not set-up
the new device volume by the time thunar-volman is started. Obviously
UDEV events are emitted first and there's no guarantee GVolumeMonitor
manages to set up a volume fast enough for thunar-volman to use it.

I'm not thunar expert, but probably the best way to fix it would be to
use the the same event monitoring mechanism in both thunar and thunar-
volman. For example, if thunar started thunar-volman based on
GVolumeMonitor "volume-added" events AOT UDEV device add events, thunar-
volman would detect the volume and mount it without any problems.

Thanks,
Val.

Adding a sleep at the beginning of twm_block_device_mount doesn't work

Further, adding a loop inside twm_block_device_mount with a sleep and
retry of the tvm_g_volume_monitor_get_volume_for_kind doesn't help at
all, even when the total delay runs into several minutes, and even when
a new volume monitor is created.

I find this very strange - it is almost as if the contents of the volume
monitor are fixed at thread invocation time and can't change thereafter.
There is something about volume monitor not being thread-safe, but I
don't understand just what this means.

I am quite disappointed to say that the bug is still now fixed in 14.04

Please find the attached screenshot of the error. Any suggestion to
resolve this ?

[Bug 1309885] [NEW] Cannot enable ibus inside webapp-container

2014-04-19 Thread Nobuto MURATA
Public bug reported:

Cannot enable ibus or input Japanese text inside webapp-container.

launch webapp-container with QT_IM_MODULE variable like the line below.

webapp-container looks like QT5 application, im-config needs to care

[Bug 1309880] Re: with cinnamon i can't ugrade fron 13.10 to 14.04

You seem to have installed the cinnamon package on Ubuntu 13.10.
Unfortunately, that package is not available yet for 14.04. To upgrade
to Ubuntu 14.04 LTS you'll need to either wait for a fix for cinnamon to
be available or uninstall the package and then upgrade.

Reviewing the files from your upgrade attempt you seem to have enabled
the xorg-edgers-ppa. This will prevent the upgrade as that PPA contains
different versions of packages essential to Ubuntu. The page,

how to revert to the official Xorg packages. Thanks.

Neither is a high priority for the Squid project at this time as OpenSSL

[Bug 1295551] Re: Keyboard shortcuts for workspaces in Xubuntu do not work after restart on Xubuntu

2014-04-19 Thread Aleksander V. Dyomin
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1292290 ***

I found a workaround: clear before reassign!

To make a shortcut to work ok, select an action you want to reassign and
click 'Clear' button until it will really empty. Sometime if there is
some (hidden?)duplicates, you will still see some shortcut(the same or
different), even you clicked 'Clear' button. In this case just click the
button again. Since the action shortcut is really empty, just assign
your custom one as usual, and it will work ok :)

Good luck!

[Bug 1026426] Re: LibreOffice Unity integration - opening an .odt file from dash or nautilus should yield correct icon and allow switching between the subsequently opened LO windows

2014-04-19 Thread sma
I experienced the same as Martin Wildam. Two days ago I upgraded from
Ubuntu 12.04 LTS to 14.04 LTS. Many month ago I edited the Quicklist of
the LO Writer-Icon using Ubuntu Tweak. This action resulted in a file
named libreoffice-writer.desktop in ~/.local/share/applications. After
upgrading to Ubuntu 14.04 LTS this file was used again and I faced the
problem with double icons of Writer in the Launcher. I deleted the file
named libreoffice-writer.desktop in ~/.local/share/applications. Now I
have always only one icon of Writer in the Launcher because Ubuntu now
uses the original file in /usr/share/applications.

In short: The problem occurs maybe when the file named libreoffice-
writer.desktop in ~/.local/share/applications was edited manually and
therefor is not compatible anymore.

2014-04-19 Thread idaltu
Public bug reported:

Impossible d'évaluer la mise à niveau

Un problème insoluble est survenu lors de la préparation de la mise à
niveau.

 Ceci peut-être dû à :
 * la mise à niveau vers une version de développement d'Ubuntu ;

Si rien de tout cela ne s'applique, veuillez signaler ce bogue en
utilisant la commande 'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' dans un

[Bug 1308885] Re: Unable to restart into and complete an Ubiquity Upgrade

2014-04-19 Thread LantzR
[More complete version of comment #2 above]

My workaround to finish installing 14.04 Tahr, with (System Settings...
-> Details )  showing I was still on 13.10 and 'update-manager -d'
saying there was nothing to upgrade as I described above, was to use the
distribution upgrade for servers:

`sudo do-release-upgrade -d`

That took me successfully to 14.04

https://help.ubuntu.com/12.04/serverguide/installing-upgrading.html

For me personally the issue with `sudo update-manager -d` being unable
to finish was a paper scratch , a surprise as I expected both a rerun or
a restart to continue where it left off. Most human clients if they get
caught in this rare net drop situation would get seriously stuck and the
work around of switching to do-release-upgrade is not intuitively
obvious .

[Bug 1243374] Re: Displayed information is inconsistent, no option to make startup disk on an empty disk with no created partition

2014-04-19 Thread Antonio Frediani
Confirmed on Lubuntu 14.04, even though in my case I do see "Free space:
0.0 B".

I have seen it on Ubuntu 13.10 in the past but I normally manage to work
around it by formatting with gparted and then restarting the startup
disk creator, on 14.10 (even though on another, slower PC) I can't find
a way to make it work.

Okay, I figured out the reason.

When in the "nvidia-settings" in antialiasing settings, the field
"Enable FXAA" is enabled, the problem affects. If I turned it off,
everything will be okay.

To see every change I need to restart computer.

should be assigned to xserver-xorg-driver-radeon, because there are no audio

[Bug 1309875] [NEW] Touchpad not recognized after upgrade 13.10->14.04

2014-04-19 Thread Claus Lensbøl
Public bug reported:

I'm not perfectly sure the problem lies here, but after reading several
arch linux bug repports that points towards a kernel issue, I'm
reporting it here.

After upgrading my HP Folio 9470m from 13.10 to 14.04 I no longer have a
working touchpad.
As far as I can tell it gets recognized as a generic mouse, from xinput:

⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2[master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointerid=4[slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ PS/2 Generic Mouseid=11 [slave pointer (2)]
⎣ Virtual core keyboard id=3[master keyboard (2)]
↳ Virtual core XTEST keyboard id=5[slave keyboard (3)]
↳ Power Button id=6[slave keyboard (3)]
↳ Video Bus id=7[slave keyboard (3)]
↳ Sleep Button id=8[slave keyboard (3)]
↳ HP HD Webcam [Fixed] id=9[slave keyboard (3)]
↳ AT Translated Set 2 keyboard id=10 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ HP WMI hotkeysid=12 [slave keyboard (3)]

>From dmesg | grep -i touch:
[ 12.334048] psmouse serio1: alps: Unknown ALPS touchpad: E7=10 00 64, EC=10
00 64

It should be pointed out that i ran a couple of days in prerelease (from
the 12th iirc) with no problems. It is only after the official release I
have had this issue.

[Bug 640158] Re: Unable to usefully transfer files to walkman

2014-04-19 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if
you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test
it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running
apport-collect and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.
