[Bug 1313443] [NEW] Cannot restore HDMI display after regular TV session
Public bug reported: I use my system connected to a TV screen via HDMI. The TV screen is also used as a regular TV, input selected to be either HDMI or antenna. After upgrading to 14.04 LTS, after a while of watching regular TV and going back to HDMI display, the TV reports No signal. I try to revive by moving the mouse or press the keyboard, but nothing happens. I try to reconnect the HDMI cable, but no change. The keyboard and mouse are wireless with a USB reciever/transmitter from Logitech. The only way to restore operation is by forced power recycling, or connect remotely via ssh and do reboot. I have tried to set the screensaver and power manager so that the computer never idles, but there is no improvement. I have had some trouble with the NVIDIA driver, the HDMI sound configuration is not stable. HDMI sound units come and go between boots. Maybe it is connected. Nothing of this happened in the previous release, 13.04LTS. The desktop display was readily available after setting the HDMI input selector on the TV after watching regular channels. bnilsson@HTPC:~$ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Release:14.04 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: ubuntu-release-upgrader-core 1:0.220.2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-24.46-lowlatency 3.13.9 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-24-lowlatency x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3 Architecture: amd64 CrashDB: ubuntu CurrentDesktop: XFCE Date: Sun Apr 27 22:50:58 2014 InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-08-24 (246 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-Studio 13.04 Raring Ringtail - Release amd64 (20130424) PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: ubuntu-release-upgrader Symptom: dist-upgrade UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to trusty on 2014-04-18 (9 days ago) VarLogDistupgradeTermlog: ** Affects: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug dist-upgrade trusty -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1313443 Title: Cannot restore HDMI display after regular TV session To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/1313443/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1311385] Re: package postfix 2.11.0-1 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
@ Basak: Thank you very much for your fast response. per: Robie Basak: This looks like a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in Ubuntu. Postfix is a highly configurable program. There is nearly never an unconfigured installation of postfix. The installer must then be able to success with most if not all legitimate (ie. working and error free) existing configurations. My postfix package was (before the bug report) and still is operating error free - until an update to or reconfiguration of postfix is initiated. Today such an event once again occured. $ sudo apt-get autoremove .. ,, .. The following packages will be REMOVED: db5.1-util libtcl8.5 python-central tcl8.5 .. ,, .. Processing triggers for libc-bin (2.19-0ubuntu6) ... Setting up postfix (2.11.0-1) ... .. ,, .. Running newaliases postalias: fatal: open /etc/postfix/aliases/: Not a directory dpkg: error processing package postfix (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 .. ,, .. The original bug report was on the occasion of the distribution upgrade - ubuntu 13.10 14.04 Today [Sun Apr 27 13:52:19 2014] the bug repeated during the event as reported above - following a run of sudo apt-get autoremove. In both cases, /var/log/mail.err was written to with lines such as these: Apr 27 11:39:08 Leno-TS130 postfix/postalias[12079]: fatal: open /etc/postfix/aliases/: Not a directory As the log has it, /etc/postfix/aliases is not a directory. No. But it is a file. /etc/postfix/main.cf had the lines: alias_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/aliases/ alias_database = hash:/etc/postfix/aliases/ I edited the lines and remove the trailing / and voila, I ran sudo apt-get autoremove again and postfix was successfully reconfigured (in the apt-get dpkg sense, not postfix main.cf etc). $ dpkg -s postfix .. ,, .. Status: install ok installed .. ,, .. @Robie Basak: You were correct. The postfix main.cf file included a reference to a regular file appended with a / which caused the installer and/or package manager scripts to look only for a directory. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1311385 Title: package postfix 2.11.0-1 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/postfix/+bug/1311385/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1310633] Re: [Acer Aspire X1300] Mouse and eventually keyboard freeze
After upgrading to 14.04 I also have this flickering problem again. It seems that the old line in options.conf: options nvidia NVreg_RegistryDwords=PerfLevelSrc=0x NVreg_Mobile=3 NVreg_ModifyDeviceFiles=0 is not read anymore (I found this somewhere in the net and it solved the issue on 13.10). Using modprobe --resolve-alias nvidia I found the correct driver module name which in my case is nvidia_331 When changing the module name to nvidia_331 in options.conf X doesn't start anymore. When removing the NVreg_ModifyDeviceFiles option X is starting again, but doesn't solve the problem. [Bug 1308572] Re: Ubuntu 14.04: security problem in the lock screen
@kristian-erik-hermansen Cool find, but utterly irrelevant here. That bug is about users blindly trusting the screen to auto-lock (which they _should be able to_). [Bug 1313224] Re: Outdated naxsi version, incorrect learning tools included in packages
A quick look at the source file http://ppa.launchpad.net/nginx/stable/ubuntu/pool/main/n/nginx/nginx_1.6.0-1+trusty0.debian.tar.gz tells me that the naxsi version is still the same and there is still as far as can see a discrepancy between naxsi version and the learning /white-list tools included. I left a comment in bug #1168720 , I think the root cause for the problem described in that bug is also due to difference between white- list tool and version of naxsi, although in that bug it's the current white-list tool being used to generate white-list rules for the older version of naxsi included in the nginx-naxsi package. An upgrade of the naxsi version included would be very desirable if changes are made. To my knowledge there are extensions to the naxsi config-file format between 0.50.0 and 0.53-2 but not the same compatibility issues that have been seen in combination with previous version upgrades of naxsi. Authoritative answer to this question is best found at the naxsi upstream, https://github.com/nbs-system/naxsi I think this naxsi faq answer is relevant with regards to this bug- report: https://github.com/nbs- system/naxsi/wiki/faq#Why_do_you_keep_radically_changing_learning_tools_ I'll change the bug status to new. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. [Bug 1296276] Re: Unlocking with greeter fails to properly renew kerberos tickets with pam-krb5
** Description changed: + [Impact] + Aborted PAM authentications may leave artifacts behind. This is due to LightDM not correctly calling pam_end on these. + Authenticating via a LightDM greeter does not refresh PAM credentials. + + [Test Case] + 1. Lock screen using LightDM greeter + 2. Enter password to return to session + Expected result: + Screen is unlocked, credentials are refreshed. + Observed result: + Screen is unlocked, artifacts are left behind from PAM authentication, credentials not refreshed. + + [Regression Potential] + Since this change affects the PAM handling other PAM modules might potentially have a change in behaviour. This seems low risk as both changes are correct behaviour over the previously incorrect behaviour. + I am using the pam-krb5 module to log into a Kerberos realm using lightdm. This works the initial time I log in, when I come in through lightdm. However, once I am logged in, and I lock the screen using light-locker, when I unlock the screen I no longer get renewed tickets. The problem seems to be this: -rw--- 1 me me 504 Mar 23 08:37 krb5cc_1000_sjkfhagfg -rw--- 1 root root504 Mar 23 08:38 krb5cc_pam_lsdkjhfsdk So what is happening is that on the initial login, I get a valid ticket cache, owned by my logging-in user, and showing my UID in the file name. This ticket works fine. However, once I lock the screen and then unlock it, I get a ticket cache owned by root, with _pam_ in the filename, and of course I can't use it because I am not logged in as root. This problem did not occur in 12.04 LTS, probably because it did not use light-locker. The pam-krb5 module works in all other cases in my installations, so I do not believe this is any kind of problem with the pam_krb5 module. Thanks, Brian ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: light-locker 1.2.1-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-18.38-generic 3.13.6 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-18-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.13.3-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 Date: Sun Mar 23 08:40:38 2014 InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-03-22 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-Server 14.04 LTS Trusty Tahr - Alpha amd64 (20140320) ProcEnviron: - TERM=xterm - PATH=(custom, no user) - XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=set - LANG=en_US.UTF-8 - SHELL=/bin/bash + TERM=xterm + PATH=(custom, no user) + XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=set + LANG=en_US.UTF-8 + SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: light-locker UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1296276 Title: Unlocking with greeter fails to properly renew kerberos tickets with pam-krb5 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/lightdm/+bug/1296276/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1313300] Re: Unable to hibernate HP6530b with fresh install of Ubuntu 14.04
Kunjesh Kaushik, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-3.15-rc2 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. [Bug 1313132] Re: Nautilus, Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit, Nautilus opens another window instead to use that window which is allready open
This bug affects me too. Important notes 1: When i'm using Nautilus whithin my Home directory, maximize and minimize function normally, however, when I'm browsing on another partition (NTFS - dualboot Win7 or pendrive), by clicking on the icon opens a new instance instead of using the same. Important note 2: I realized that when the Nautilus is not locked in the launcher (I'm using Nemo for while), the minimize and maximize function normally. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1313132 Title: Nautilus,Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit, Nautilus opens another window instead to use that window which is allready open To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1313132/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
