[Bug 1311247] Re: error: malformed file, press any key to continue
I also got this error, but now it's gone. I have Ubuntu 14.04 installed on my /dev/sdb3 partition, and the GRUB2 boot loader is installed on the boot sector of the partition (not on the Master Boot Record). The problem disappeared after I did the following (though I'm unsure if that's what made it disappear; for all I know, it could be sheer coincidence): Booted Ubuntu 14.04. Got the error, but the boot completed OK. Ran the following three commands (as root, i.e., after I issued the "sudo su -" command): grub-install --force /dev/sdb3 grub-install --force --recheck /dev/sdb3 update-grub Rebooted Ubuntu 14.04. Still got the error, but, again, the boot completed OK. Repeated the very same three commands. Rebooted Ubuntu 14.04 one more time. The error was gone. [Bug 1315913] Re: lxsession-default-apps isn't localized / translated
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1315913/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1246364] Re: update-notifier does not show a tray icon in xubuntu 13.10
This really needs to be fixed. I'm actually a Unity user myself, but I certainly do not want update-manager to run automatically whenever there are updates, uselessly consuming resources until I manually close it. I want to be *notified* that there are updates, and then choose whether I want to run update-manager to install them, or (much more likely) install them with aptitude from the terminal. I really don't give a damn about your "usability studies." So they didn't notice the indicator icon? Well I never notice it in Unity, which I have set to auto-hide and rarely actually look at. People are *different* and come from different backgrounds. This one-size-fits-all bullshit really needs to stop—that's what made Windows so awful. There are many different categories of users and they all have different needs. You want to make this awful behaviour the default? Fine. But removing the option entirely is just spitting in the face of your users and driving them to other distributions. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1246364 Title: update-notifier does not show a tray icon in xubuntu 13.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/1246364/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1315581] Re: Muon Discover does not show all packages
You can install the "Muon Package Manager" to have that "all packages" experience. By design, Muon Discover is a end-user (i.e., not an expert user) level application, like an "app store" thing. If what you want is a more direct GUI front-end to apt-get / aptitude-search, then what you want is the Muon Package Manager. [Bug 1299234] Re: Keyboard layout reverts to en_US after every reboot in Trusty 14.04 beta
Also having the same issue on multiple PCs running 14.04LTS. /etc/default/keyboard XKBMODEL="logii350" XKBLAYOUT="ee" XKBVARIANT="" XKBOPTIONS="lv3:ralt_switch,terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp" I only have Estonian keyboard layout set in the layout configuration. Every time the system reboots, the layout shows that it is set as EE, however the keys respond as US until I re-select EE. The workaround is to click on layout selector and select EE on every boot. Sidenote, logging out and back in does not create the same issue, so it is not session based. [Bug 1315921] [NEW] Ubuntu Studio does not boot in Hyper-V Generation 2 VM
Public bug reported: Using the Ubuntu Studio 14.04 release image (64bit), it is impossible to boot or install in a Hyper-V generation 2 VM. Using either option in Grub (install/live system) results in the attached error screen after the animated Ubuntu Studio boot logo (plymoth), It should be noted that I use the same settings with Xubuntu, where it works and never showed this problems. Additionally I noticed that it is not possible to interrupt plymoth to see the kernel log output, it seems the Hyper-V keyboard module is not loaded. As the bug happens during boot before console access is possible or any other applications are loaded, I report this bug against the linux package. Feel free to reassign it to another package if needed. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "Screenshot of the error message." https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1315921/+attachment/4105011/+files/UbuntuStudio_error.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1315921 Title: Ubuntu Studio does not boot in Hyper-V Generation 2 VM To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1315921/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1312061] Re: Hangs from time to time
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. At a minimum, we need the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem. Perhaps, does it happen when trying to print a long output? If so, then http://bugs.python.org/issue1529353 might be the upstream ticket. ** Bug watch added: Python Roundup #1529353 http://bugs.python.org/issue1529353 ** Changed in: python3.4 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Summary changed: - Hangs from time to time + IDLE hangs from time to time -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1312061 Title: IDLE hangs from time to time To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python3.4/+bug/1312061/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
