2014-05-17 Thread Christophe Van Reusel
Just found out it is just one off the new "improvements" into gnome 3.10
.

Now when the network is down , that network icon will show up. However
it becomes total usseles as there is no menu anymore attached to that
"improved" applet. You can not quickly check or modifie you're network
anymore trough that applet.

[Bug 1320590] [NEW] All libguestfs LVM operations fail

2014-05-17 Thread David Lechner
Public bug reported:

This was reported by upstream here:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1020806

And fixed here:
https://github.com/libguestfs/libguestfs/commit/7c8af234305f0fe2cb5a9042bd58fe3735e8cd73

Given that trusty is LTS and this is a trivial fix, I think it should be
fixed in trusty.

** Affects: libguestfs (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Patch added: "patch from upstream in quilt format"

[Bug 1261654] Re: missing LADSPA support

2014-05-17 Thread S. Christian Collins
I don't think Audacity's ffmpeg support has anything to do with this
bug, because it shows up with a version that I custom-compiled with
ffmpeg support as well. A workaround is to symbolically link the
/usr/lib/ladspa folder into /usr/share/audacity:

sudo ln -s /usr/lib/ladspa /usr/share/audacity/ladspa

...or if you compiled your own version and installed it with the
/usr/local prefix:

sudo ln -s /usr/lib/ladspa /usr/local/share/audacity/ladspa

[Bug 1318673] Re: Modifier-only input switching with non-latin keyboard layouts has no effect under GNOME Shell

2014-05-17 Thread Haggai Eran
The fix in ubuntu proposed didn't fix my issue. I was testing version
3.8.6.1-0ubuntu11.1. I tested with Caps Lock as the shortcut key, but
I've also tried with Alt-Shift. I am able to change the keyboard layout
once, and then it gets stuck in the second layout. The indicator didn't
change at all during the test. Should this be a new bug, or do you think
it is the same as #1244158?

[Bug 1320587] [NEW] Intermittent 403 Issues

2014-05-17 Thread rhpot1991

I get intermittent 403 errors using squid-deb-proxy. If I keep retrying
eventually it will work, so this isn't a configuration issue. I have

like Google.

[Bug 1320486] Re: xlockmore ist not available for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

2014-05-17 Thread Quinn Balazs
xlockmore is dead upstream and was removed from the Debian repositories
in 2012. There hasn't been a version in the 'buntu repositories since
Quantal (12.10). xlockmore 1:5.31-1.1 was dropped from Debian testing
because it was left in a buggy, unmaintained state with obvious security
flaws. Since the package isn't meant to exist in the 'buntu
repositories, this isn't a bug and is being closed as such. Thank you
for taking the time to file a report.

[Bug 1303736] Re: Black screen after wakeup from suspending by closing the laptop lid

You guys are lucky. My Samsung laptop experiences all the above issues
such as opening the lid giving a black screen (with suspend and
hibernate completely disabled) AS WELL as my wireless mouse not being
detected on reboot!

I am getting close to going back to 13.04, the last Xubuntu that worked
flawlessly for me.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-power-manager/+bug/1303736

I am just unlucky in that not only do have the suspend/blank screen bug,
but my hardware also gives me the disappearing wireless mouse on reboot!

[Bug 1320554] Re: [Samsung NP350E5C-A02AU] Suspend hang with blank screen on lid open

2014-05-17 Thread slumbergod
There is no BIOS update. I am using the latest BIOS update, as provided through
Samsung's SW Update software (P09ABE).

In fact, the New Zealand Samsung support website doesn't even list any BIOS
update and most of their software downloads are only available for Windows XP,
which this laptop never came with. It is a Windows 8 only machine.

Clearly, Samsung are making no effort to support their machines with
linux. What information could they provide that would allow developers
to fix these issues.

Now the wireless mouse has stopped being detected on reboot. No changes
to the system were made other than booting to windows to check for BIOS
updates. Now mouse is not detected with any kernel, including
3.14.1-031401-lowlatency

the wireless mouse not being recognised bug is back!

Clearly, Samsung are making no effort to support their machines with

to fix these issues. I can't afford a new machine and I am not keen on
dropping back to 13.04 to get a linux distro that works without
problems. Failing that I only have Windows 8.1.

[Bug 1320570] Re: 14.04 upgrade failed from 13.10

2014-05-17 Thread David Gilmore
Procedure to upgrade to 14.04 from 13.10 until it fails is
Step 1. Start "Software Updater"
After it has run a dialog box comes up and says:
"The software on this computer is up to date.
However, Ubuntu 14.04 is now available (you have 13.10)
Step 2. Click on the "Upgrade..." button next to the "OK" button.
Next I get the normal "Authenticate" dialog box and put is my
password
then click on the "Authenticate" button.
Step 3. The Release Note dialog box comes up and I click on the "Upgrade" button
Step 4. "do-release-upgrade" tool starts
Step 5. then the "Distribution Upgrade" starts then stops with another dialog
box saying:
 "Third party sources disabled
Some third party entries in your sources.list were disabled. You
can re-enable them after
the upgrade with the 'software-properties' tool or your package
manager."
Step 6. Click on "Close" button to continue the process.
  Files are Fetched
Once all the files are Fetched something goes wrong
Step 7. A new dialog box comes up and it reads:
 "Could not calculate the upgrade
An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.
  This can be caused by:
  * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
  * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
  * Unoffical software packages not provided by Ubuntu
If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the
command 'ubuntu-bug
 ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal."
Step 8. "Close" button on dialog is clicked to end procedure.
   Restore Original State of System

My Question is "What is the procedure/s for eliminating the causes of
this problem?"

Thunar seems to be using UDEV events to detect device add/remove, while

the new device volume by the time thunar-volman is started. Obviously
UDEV events are emitted first and there's no guarantee GVolumeMonitor
manages to set up a volume fast enough for thunar-volman to use it.

I'm not thunar expert, but probably the best way to fix it would be to
use the the same event monitoring mechanism in both thunar and thunar-
volman. For example, if thunar started thunar-volman based on
GVolumeMonitor "volume-added" events AOT UDEV device add events, thunar-
volman would detect the volume and mount it without any problems.

Thanks,
Val.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it
seems that there is a problem with your installation media (CD/DVD).
You can verify the integrity of the Ubuntu ISO files you downloaded by
following the instructions at

your installation with new media. In the event that is is not in fact
an error with your installation media please set the bug's status back
to New. Thanks and good luck!

[Bug 1320561] Re: installation problem with compose.ISO-8859-13.deb

2014-05-17 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Reviewing your installation log file it appears that your installation
media contains some extra data which is causing the installation to
fail. The standard Ubuntu installation media (and that of supported
derivatives) does not include this data and will not fail in this way,
so it must be an issue with the way your installation media was
prepared. Subsequently, this bug report is Invalid. However, to
resolve the issue should try fully erasing the USB drive which contains
the installer before recreating it. Thanks and good luck!

Just installed and have been testing this kernal. My only issue is that
the touchpad is not disabled when I flip my screen so I get erratic
pointer behavior due to the back of the screen activating the touchpad.
I have a Dell XPS 12 9Q33 and am running 14.04.

If I manually disable the touchpad before flipping the screen or am
using the touchpad and the touchscreen in clamshell mode both perform
flawlessly. I am pretty new to debugging things like this so please let
me know how I can be helpful.

I upgraded VLC to the version from the security-proposed PPA. It tested

2014-05-17 Thread William Grant
The .po that was given to Launchpad said the string was c-format, so
Launchpad is behaving correctly here.
