[Bug 1320694] Re: [Intel NUC] Cannot boot new UEFI install with Encrypted LVM
Turns out it was something else entirely :) I've attached the bootinfoscript just in case there was something else interesting there. I made the incorrect assumption that the manufacture date of 04/2014 stamped on the bottom might imply it would have a recent firmware installed. Nope! http://i.imgur.com/M5PTYFT.jpg [VisualBIOS before update] http://imgur.com/L3XzPXq [VisualBIOS update process] http://imgur.com/hhxTrxU [VisualBIOS after update] As you can see the installation is displayed just fine now and boots right up. Feeling a bit silly on my part now that it seems so obvious, but it might be worth updating https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UEFI as an additional troubleshooting step. The NUC in question is model D54250WYKH I'm not sure if it is specific to the 2.5" SSD as I didn't have anything in the mSATA port to test. ** Attachment added: "bootinfoscript output" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1320694/+attachment/4116602/+files/nuc_uefi.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1320694 Title: [Intel NUC] Cannot boot new UEFI install with Encrypted LVM To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1320694/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1314471] Re: [SRU] Update ubuntu-kylin-software-center to 0.2.9.6
Normally for an SRU the upload to trusty-proposed would include launchpad links for each of the bugs fixed (ie: the changelog would contain (LP: #1306137) rather than (bug#1306137)). We use this to track which bugs have been tested and are known to be fixed. It is also difficult to determine whether the changes are appropriate for an SRU. Particularly - what problem does the change to os.execv in bug 1307280 solve, and UI changes are usually (but not always) inappropriate for an SRU. The changelog is also insufficiently detailed - the changelog is visible to the user in the update dialog, and should give a good indication of what bugs are being fixed. I'm not aware of any exception to the SRU processes granted to the Ubuntu Kylin packages by the Technical Board. If I've missed something, please point it out! I've rejected this upload, but please upload again with a changelog with LP: # links to the various bugs, some more rationale on bug 1307280. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1314471 Title: [SRU] Update ubuntu-kylin-software-center to 0.2.9.6 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-kylin-software-center/+bug/1314471/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1321548] [NEW] dropbearconvert is not included within package
Public bug reported: Dropbear has its own binary key format which is not compatible with openssh key format. For use with OpenSSH, dropbear key has to be exported as openssh key format. Thank you Javier for reporting and digging into it. It should affect everybody but strangely not much people are complaining about it here. I tried the workaround you pointed out, it only works in the environment that is not expecting ibus inputs. I.e., launching cromium-browser from xterm that does not accept ibus input would work, yet launching cromium-browser from rxvt that does takes ibus inputs would fail, and eventually freeze the whole system. [Bug 1303736] Re: Black screen after wakeup from suspending by closing the laptop lid
Just an update on behaviour. This morning when I woke up I opened my Samsung laptop lid and as expected the screen was blank. I had set up an alias in my bash with 'xrandr -- auto' to try so I pressed Super+t to get a terminal even though I was expecting to do this with no screen. Much to my surprise, after a few seconds the screen came on. Unfortunately, the system was almost in a frozen state. Moving the mouse was very slow and jerky. It was so unresponsive I still had to do a forced shut down with the power button i.e. impossible to restart through the panel menu or even command line. [Bug 445416] Re: grub-setup: warn: Attempting to install GRUB to a partition instead of the MBR. This is a BAD idea.
There's no indication in any of the messages that the bug is fixed. And I can't see that any of them address my own comments in #9. As #8 points out there are two issues - (1) the warning itself, which doesn't contain (or point to) a clear explanation of the issue, and (2) the fact that GRUB2 seems to expect to be the only OS present (or that all other OSes present provide boot code within their own partitions). As it is I use Grub Legacy (having worked out the errors in its documentation) and the IT support folk here (ANU) seem to do the same on the machine they have just installed for me. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/445416 Title: grub-setup: warn: Attempting to install GRUB to a partition instead of the MBR.
