Hi cschramm and thanks for looking at this bug!

How do you think we should proceed to release a fix/workaround? Should
we just upload the code that disables the module unload, or do you have
a better suggestion?

[Bug 1243557]

2014-07-01 Thread Rebecca Palmer
Created attachment 101990
kernel log 3.15rc-Jun-27

This bug still exists in drm-nouveau-next (commit
242a42eadfc17448a0d5b2ffc0cb191c8b51971a) with Ubuntu 14.04 userspace.
The error message has changed to E[ PFIFO][:01:00.0] INTR
0x0080, and some of the INTR 0x0100: 0x0005 warnings now
come _after_ it.

In Ubuntu 14.04 (not 13.10) with either this git kernel or its standard
3.13, there is also a hang on resume from suspend
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-
nouveau/+bug/1333417), but it is not clear whether this is a driver or
BIOS problem.

In the attached, the original bug is at 08:09:47 and 08:20:06, the
resume failure (which can log GPU lockup, failed to idle chanel
0x0001 [Xorg[1185]], or nothing) is at 08:14:53.

[Bug 1325228] Re: light-locker mutes audio on lock, does not un-mute

2014-07-01 Thread Simon Steinbeiß
It's annoying that this doesn't work anymore, but it's actually not due
to something that light-locker is doing. It's due to the VT switch that
happens when locking. So there's nothing we can do about it in light-
locker.

Maybe something in ConsoleKit or pulseaudio changed so that this doesn't
work anymore. You can try to debug it a bit with the information on this
page to find out what really causes the problem:

[Bug 802021] Re: itext-rups.jar not working

2014-07-01 Thread Amedee Van Gasse
Hi! I started working at iText as QA Engineer 2 months ago, and I'm an
Ubuntu user since... well, take a look at my profile. :)

Is this still an issue?
The original report mentions com.lowagie.* class hierarchy, which is the old
2.x version. I'm not going to invest any time in that, but if anything can be
done for the current 5.x version (with com.itextpdf.* class hierarchy): just
ask.

[Bug 1335824] [NEW] Evolution crashes on certain operations

2014-07-01 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I'm starting a new bug because the previous one mentioning evolution was
back in 2013 with an older version of mint.

I am using evolution 3.10.4 on 64 bit Mint 17 with Mate desktop.

My mail server is running Ubuntu Server 10.04 with Postfix and Dovecot
with maildir.

I have had crashes on two operations:-

1) when creating a new message folder on the server. Evolution crashes
(stops responding). After rebooting the computer and restarting
evolution, I find that the folder was created and all appears to be well
again. This has happened multiple times.

2) when attempting to select a contact to edit. I have only seen this
happen once. I typed in the contact search string and clicked return,
which produced two possible contacts. When I double clicked on the one I
needed to edit, evolution crashed. This was after evolution had been
running for a couple of hours. When I rebooted and tried again, it all
worked.

[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2014-07-01 Thread cschramm
Disabling the unload is the best guess yet, although I do not know how
and why the rest of the plugin can still work then. ;) But I can figure
that out afterwards.

(If anybody wants to help with that, please send me the blueman-applet
output of when you successfully connect your audio device using the
1.23-git201406261335-deb version. The best place to discuss this is
probably the upstream ticket: https://github.com/blueman-
project/blueman/issues/64)

@David: If you like I'll push the fix to Debian testing. That's probably
the cleanest way to also get it into Ubuntu, isn't it?

[Bug 1336214] [NEW] pygame.surfarray.make_surface(numpyarray) gives IndexError

2014-07-01 Thread Andrew Kay
Public bug reported:

Feeding a numpy array to make_surface gives an error:

to reproduce:
$ python
 import numpy

 import pygame

 a = numpy.zeros((10,20,3), numpy.uint8)

 pygame.SurfaceArray.make_surface(a)

output:

IndexError: bytes to write exceed buffer size
expected:
Surface(10x20x32) SW)

Stepping through inside, it seems that the buffer has the right size,
and the data is the right length at the point the buffer write occurs.
But the buffer write fails (and I can't step that)

I'm 99% certain that this worked before I upgraded from Kubuntu 13.10 to
14.04

[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2014-07-01 Thread David Henningsson
@David: If you like I'll push the fix to Debian testing. That's
probably the cleanest way to also get it into Ubuntu, isn't it?

Sounds like a plan, thanks!

Not sure if we sync from Debian unstable or Debian testing these days,
but I assume you upload the fix to both. That will bring it into utopic.
After that we can SRU it into trusty.

[Bug 1281298] Re: kernel oops when unplugging usbdux

2014-07-01 Thread Bernd Porr
I've tested with the 3.14 kernel from the ubuntu PPA and it works perfectly
with it.
Linux bp1-Dimension-9100 3.14.1-031401-generic #201404141220 SMP Mon Apr 14
16:21:48 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Also the 3.15 kernel from the ubuntu PPA it works perfectly.
Linux bp1-x61 3.15.0-031500-generic #201406131105 SMP Fri Jun 13 15:26:26 UTC
2014 i686 i686 i686 GNU/Linux

In the comedi project we worked pretty hard to have a perfect version of
comedi in the 3.14 kernel so would love to see this version in the
ubuntu Trusty LTS.

I rebooted to 14.04 again and built the kernel from that commit,
installed and rebooted 14.04 and the error still shows in the log.
Previously, I was using 13.04 as the base. I guess I will continue to
buils kernels backwards from here until it goes away. Any other
suggestions? I wonder if this is the bug that breaks KMS with i915 for
others as well.

[Bug 1336227] [NEW] Resume from suspend leaves me with black screen

2014-07-01 Thread Phil L
Public bug reported:

I'm using 12.04 64bit latest
uname -a
Linux xps-Dell-System-XPS-L702X 3.2.0-65-generic #98-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jun 11
20:27:07 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

on a Dell XPS L702X (this has a builtin Intel graphics and the GeForce
GT550M card.)

When I close the lid to suspend resume, sometimes (not always), I just
get a backlit black screen with a moveable cursor... but the rest of the
screen doesn't come back. I can hear other apps
resumming/running/connecting ok.

When this happens, all I normally do is the ALT-PRNTSCR + R,E,I,S,U,B to
hopefully safely reboot.

I did find this bug - which looks like my exact problem, but the bug
says fixed ( is pretty old - 2012)

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-
intel/+bug/966744

- suggestions at the end are to raise a new bug under xserver-xorg-
video-intel - hence this log.

In my Xorg.log, it shows the;
[ 13226.757] (WW) intel(0): flip queue failed: Invalid argument
[ 13226.757] (WW) intel(0): Page flip failed: Invalid argument

- mentioned in the original bug as the possible problem.

hope someone can help/point me in the right direction. thanks.

[raised a forum post too;

[Bug 1336230] [NEW] core.worktree misinterpreted by Git GUI

2014-07-01 Thread Martin Pecka
Public bug reported:

I have a super-repository tradr-simulation which contains several
subfolders. I wanted to share some of the subfolders through another Git
repository, so I created an external subrepository - the .git resides
above tradr-simulation in the filesystem, and in its config I've set
core.worktree to point to tradr-simulation (particularly worktree =
../../../tradr-ws/src/tradr-simulation ).

Now here's what's shown in CLI (CWD is the external subrepo):

--

D:\Programování\tradr-git\non-tradr-share\robot-modelgit log
fatal: bad default revision 'HEAD'

D:\Programování\tradr-git\non-tradr-share\robot-modelgit status
On branch master

Initial commit

Untracked files:
(use git add file... to include in what will be committed)

.gitignore
README
gazebo-test/
nifti_robot_description/
nifti_robot_gazebo/
vrep_ugv_simulation/

nothing added to commit but untracked files present (use git add to
track)

 -

However, if I start Git GUI from the external subrepo, it is somehow
misled to think I wanted it to show the super-repository. In the
screenshot attached, you can see how Git GUI looks when called as:

D:\Programování\tradr-git\non-tradr-share\robot-modelgit gui

The window title as well as the Unstaged changes correspond to those of
the super-repo, even though I started Git GUI from the external
subrepo directory.

everything was good until I launched Steam, it changed the resolution,

indicated that the screen is unknown.

It doesn't give me the opportunity to activate the native resolution

[Bug 1336235] [NEW] [needs-packaging] Xiki

2014-07-01 Thread Thibaut Brandscheid
Public bug reported:

Xiki is an advanced shell console with GUI features. Xiki merges shell
and GUI concepts. It runs in a text editor, so everything is editable
and you can save your Xiki sessions in text files. You can use a mouse
in Xiki, insert a command prompt anywhere you want, incrementally filter
searches, expand and filter directory contents, open and edit files in
place, enter text notes wherever you want, edit, re-order, and re-use
command history, and you can do all of this in a natural progressive
flow.

[Bug 1325142] Re: failure to update libpam-systemd in 14.04 due to missing logind init script

2014-07-01 Thread Silvia
Hi,

first of all, I've got the same problem, but everytime when I was
configuring my own live in chroot.

Here is how I turned around the problem:

in chroot I've stated not to upgrade libpam-systemd, to keep it back:

  echo libpam-systemd hold|dpkg --set-selections

then I've dist-upgraded the distro without any error.

To test it, Ive installed from that live dvd (an iso, actually) on a VM,
and, once logged in the new VM, I've revoked my previous directive (as
root):

  echo libpam-systemd install|dpkg --set-selections

and finally dist-upgraded without any error.

Hoping this could help.

Cheers,
Silvia

[Bug 1274320] Re: Error: diskfilter writes are not supported

2014-07-01 Thread Anders Kaseorg
Jonathan, I don't know how you concluded that a new kernel fixed this,
but this message is displayed by GRUB before the kernel is even loaded,
so I find it very unlikely.

[Bug 1335795] Re: It does not suspend after upgrading to 14.04

2014-07-01 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Nisarg Jhaveri, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top
line at the top of the page (not the daily folder) following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream
kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this
bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For
example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-3.16-rc3

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next
to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please
remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.

[Bug 279890] Re: Transmission crashes: corrupted double-linked list

2014-07-01 Thread Matthew Williams
I was running into a similar issue, but was able to resolve it with a
less drastic approach. I ran strace on transmission-daemon and it
showed a stat of a torrent .part file just before the SIGSEGV. I move
the associated .resume file out of tranmission/resume and transmission-
daemon started right up. I then requested a verify of that same
torrent, just to make sure everything was good.

The interesting part is that the final couple of stats in the strace
returned ENOENT (No such file or directory).

Hope this helps the next person.

BTW, this was on a Ubuntu Server 10.04 box with transmission 1.93. Yes,
I am slow to upgrade but I still have a few months left!

[Bug 1310200] Re: Indicators disappear at the panel (clementine, dropbox, skype etc)

2014-07-01 Thread Chris Kenyon
The issue impacts normal usage of Skype. I used the following
instructions to fix the issue on my 14.04 64 bit install:

3.3 Fix missing Skype tray icon / appindicator on Ubuntu 64bit

On 64bit, the required package to get a Skype tray / appindicator icon
is not installed automatically. To fix this, use the following command:
sudo apt-get install sni-qt:i386

The Skype tray icon might disappear after you log in, but it should show
up after a few seconds.
