[Bug 1308378] Re: Name resolving not working after 12.04 LTS -> 14.04 LTS if /etc/resolv.conf was absent

2014-07-06 Thread Timo Jyrinki
Hey hamish. The addition in this bug fix only triggers when upgrading
resolvconf from the 12.04 LTS version (1.63), so it doesn't get used in
your case. Maybe your problem is simply because resolvconf gets upgraded
in the first place in a stable release, and your live cd
creation/upgrade process doesn't like that?

For what it's worth, I always create a new live cd based off normal
Ubuntu release for point releases, see https://code.launchpad.net/~timo-
jyrinki/ubuntu-fi-remix/main - and I only temporarily, manually, edit
/run/resolvconf/resolv.conf during the preparation nowadays. I don't
know if that helps, but maybe the idea of doing your resolv.conf changes
inside /run/ would help you too.

[Bug 1144322] Re: [Toshiba Satellite A80] Kernel 3.8.x Panic when disconnecting from network manager via ppp0

2014-07-06 Thread Jussi Saarinen
I managed to find one more bug report similar to this one. So now there
are at least four bug reports (including this one) here in Launchpad on
this problem:

Anyway, if these are about the same bug that I think they are, the bug
has now been completely fixed in kernel version 3.14, though kernel
version 3.12 included some of the fix. Also there was one previous fix
that is also needed that I think was backported to stable before 3.12.

I think I manged to list all the necessary commits, Here are links to

2014-07-06 Thread Jussi Saarinen
Just one correction to my previous post: It turns out that the following
fix:

One fix between 3.12 and 3.14:
https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=29cd718beba999bda4bdbbf59b5a4d25c07e1547

was indeed included in 3.12.

[Bug 1256811] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad T400] linux kernel panic on bluetooth DUN disconnect

2014-07-06 Thread Jussi Saarinen
There are at least four similar bug reports (including this one) here in
Launchpad on this problem:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1144322

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1165433

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1189998

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-lts-raring/+bug/1256811

Anyway, if these are about the same bug that I think they are, the bug
has now been completely fixed in kernel version 3.14, though kernel
version 3.12 included some of the fix. Also there was one previous fix
that is also needed that I think was backported to stable before 3.12.
And there was also one fix applied between 3.12 and 3.14.

I think I manged to list all the necessary commits, Here are links to
the commits, in case they need to be backported:

The first fix (pre 3.12?):

The fixes in 3.12:

[Bug 1338401] Re: Get some failed items during certification testing under Ubuntu server 12.04.3

2014-07-06 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1338401/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[Bug 1338420] [NEW] Cannot get the IMEI number

2014-07-06 Thread XiaoGuo, Liu
Public bug reported:

I have a simple code like:

DeviceInfo {
id: deviceInfos
}

ListItem.SingleValue {
objectName: "imeiItem"
property string imeiNumber
imeiNumber: deviceInfos.imei(0)
text: "IMEI"
value: imeiNumber
visible: true
}

If I set the "Security Profile" to the following:

{
"policy_groups": [],
"policy_version": 1.1,
"template": "unconfined"
}

Then I can get the IMEI number. However, if I set it to:

{
"policy_groups": [
"networking",
"connectivity"
],
"policy_version": 1.1
}

I could not get the IMEI number. According to
http://developer.ubuntu.com/publish/apps/security-policy-for-click-
packages/

connectivity: Can access coarse network connectivity information
QML: qtdeclarative5-systeminfo-plugin
import QtSystemInfo
Other APIs: Qt5 QHostAddress and QNetworkInterface

"connectivity" has been added, however, it does not retrieve any of the
useful information. I have checked the "/var/log/syslog", there is no
violation as well.

Best regards,
XiaoGuo

[Bug 1338417] Re: Update to version 0.4.0

2014-07-06 Thread HRJ
The new version of fuse-zip seems to require libzip version 0.11.2 which
is not yet available in Trusty Tahir (14.04) release.

The new version of libzip is available in Utopic (14.10):
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libzip

So, an update to fuse-zip can be planned in the 14.10 cycle.

[11:30:15]

However, the menu still shows "Close Application on Device" instead of
"Run application on Device". Attached please find the captured screen.

Also, I cannot terminate the running application (pure QML) from the
SDK. For other templates which have the C++ code, it has the "RED"
square to terminate the app.

[Bug 1332900] Re: [Alienware 18, Realtek ALC668, Speaker, Internal] Playback problem

2014-07-06 Thread Raymond
do you mean node 0x14 is the subwoofer ?

you can use hda analyzer to mute and unmute node 0x14 to find out
whether it is the subwoofer and internal Mic is node 0x12

[ 5.445875] autoconfig: line_outs=1 (0x14/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0) type:speaker
 [ 5.445876] speaker_outs=0 (0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0)
 [ 5.445877] hp_outs=2 (0x15/0x16/0x0/0x0/0x0)
 [ 5.445877] mono: mono_out=0x0
 [ 5.445878] inputs:
 [ 5.445879] Mic=0x19
 [ 5.445880] Internal Mic=0x12

use hda jack sense test to verify the three jacks are 0x15, 0x16 and
0x19

if the above nodes are correct, only pincap of nodes 0x18 and 0x1a support OUT
which may be the missing speakers

the driver create bass playback switch at the node with higher sequence
number , so you need to adjust the sequence number so that subwoofer
node has higher sequence number then the stereo speakers node

Control: name="Bass Speaker Playback Switch", index=0, device=0
ControlAmp: chs=3, dir=Out, idx=0, ofs=0
  Control: name="Speaker Surround Phantom Jack", index=0, device=0

use early patching instead of dynamic reconfig since dynamic reconfigure

[Bug 1338404] [NEW] bbswitch: fails to find ACPI handle for discrete card

2014-07-06 Thread hamish
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I have a GeForce 9600 GT discrete card providing a third monitor on my
14.04 Trusty system. The first two monitors are connected to the onboard
Intel i7-3770 HD graphics.

This is a contiunation of launchpad bug #1310023, where Alberto Milone
wrote:

"""
@Hamish: that is a problem with bbswitch:

[ 17.706791] bbswitch: cannot find ACPI handle for VGA device :01:00.0
[ 17.706792] bbswitch: No discrete VGA device found

Please file a bug report against bbswitch.
"""

You can find full debug logs in ticket #1310023, but briefly,

bbswitch-dkms package version 0.7-2ubuntu1

dmesg:
"""

Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation G94 [GeForce 9600 GT]
(rev a1)

fyi as per the previous ticket I upgraded ubuntu-drivers-common to version
1:0.2.91.6 from trusty-proposed, but as in comment 23 there the same "cannot
find ACPI handle" was present in dmesg before upgrading that package.

The machine is dual boot with Windows 7, on the Windows side of things the
three monitor setup works fine.

?

thanks,
Hamish

[Bug 569224] Re: Plugin installation - keystore issue, reports: "This trust engine is read only."

2014-07-06 Thread Andrew Jackson
Yes, still confirmed as an error.

I am running Kubuntu 14.04 32-bit as a Guest OS in Virtual Box 4.3.x on
a Windows 7 64-bit Host.

I installed Eclipse Java EE IDE for Web Developers -- Version: Luna
Release (4.4.0) -- Build id: 20140612-0600.

I added (in order) Code Recommenders (all) -- then WindowBuilder (all)
-- Dynamic Lang Toolkit (all).

I restarted after each completed successfully.

Then I tried to add PHP Development Tools (PDT) -- and the install
failed with something like:

"The artifact file for
osgi.bundle,org.eclipse.php.formatter.ui,3.3.0.201406110111 was not
found."

Once I added the Eclipse plug-in development environment -- PDE --

I restarted and then installed PHP Development Tools (PDT) and it worked
as expected.

I hope that this helps anyone with similar problems.

[Bug 995016] Re: Smalltalk browser does not launch

2014-07-06 Thread Iconoclasmandheresy
This seems to be a mismatch between the versions of the GTK+ libraries
that the binary was compiled for and the ones in use in current versions
of Ubuntu. I was able to build GST 3.2.5 from source using the the
build-dep and have a functioning gstbrowser install uner 14.04 just now.
The version from the repos is not functional and requires a rebuild. The
GTK+ library version needs to be more carefully set to forbid
installation in a system with the incorrect versions.

[Bug 1241589] Re: ubuntu 13.10 unable to boot on live usb (busy box - initramfs)

2014-07-06 Thread Danny Weinberg
Re #68, I had the same issue. My HDD and SSD are /dev/sda and /dev/sdb,
so the USB drive would show up as /dev/sdc. However, when I ran blkid
from the initramfs prompt, all I saw were sda* and sdb* partitions (and
I know those were my internal drives based on the partition schemes). I
was able to boot properly via the following steps:

1. Adding the live-media boot option as described in #55 (for me
'live-media=/dev/sdc1')
2. Removing the 'quiet splash' (so I could see what was going on easier)
3. Booting and waiting for the boot output to pause for a bit (something about
unable to find USB at address...)
4. Removing the live USB and re-inserting it.

The system then recognized a new USB drive at /dev/sdc and proceeded to
boot normally. I know that's a very strange procedure, but it allowed me
to boot and install properly, without doing anything drastic such as
removing or zeroing my drives.

For reference, I have a Lenovo Y580 with a SATA HDD and an mSATA SSD. In
BIOS I had SATA in AHCI mode and was using UEFI (no compatibility/legacy
modes). My USB was plugged into a USB 2.0 port.
