[Bug 1364778] [NEW] Z-Shell breaks im-config configuration scripts, making input method malfunction
Public bug reported: I suddenly find out my Chinese input method failed to work properly after I switched to KDM X display manager(or, the login screen). During debugging I found that if I sourced the im-config XSession sourced script manually with Zsh with debugging enabled it will prematurely jump out of /usr/share/im-config/data/25_hime.rc 's logic, which eventually wrongly set the environmental variables making the input method malfunctions. Although it seems to be KDM's bug that uses my default shell(Zsh) to run the XSession script, it seems abnormal for Zsh to fail at that script also, thus here's the bug report. The /usr/share/im-config/data/25_hime.rc script on my system is attached, and with the execution result of Zsh with debugging enabled. Gunnar, "quite often" sounds worrysome -- this smells like a dpkg bug then? Did you see more duplicates of this? This is an utterly complex and probably brittle workaround. If we need such a workaround, then the pre*inst* should call "dpkg -L " (this needs to be generated by debian/rules), iterate over all entries, and remove any which are a symlink. If it's a dpkg bug it would really be better to fix it there (needs a reproducer then), if it's really a hardware bug then no amount of software workarounds will help against those :/. But if you see many duplicates, it's more likely a dpkg bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1364642 Title: package ubuntu-docs 12.04.6 failed to install/upgrade: symbolic link '/usr/share/help/ja/ubuntu-help/music-player-notrecognized.page' size has changed from 69 to 4 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-docs/+bug/1364642/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Tracking down the changes, it seems that the lightdm update from 1.11.6-0ubuntu1 to 1.11.7-0ubuntu1 is the one causing the issue, as I can get my display to work perfectly fine with latest image + lightdm 1.11.6-0ubuntu1 The symptom is a bit weird though, as the display itself is on (with proper brightness and so on), but nothing showing up on the screen (like not being rendered for some reason). Display power off/on doesn't help, and it seems Unity8 is running fine in the background. When I get this issue, I'm also not able to see the ubuntu touch spinner before Unity8 is up. One way to get a working display again is by restarting ligthdm by hand. + + From time to time it also works fine, but it's harder to get into a + working state (without restarting lightdm by hand) than actually + reproducing the bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1364725 Title: Krillin fails to display spinner/unity8 after upgrade to 1.11.7-0ubuntu1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/1364725/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

John Simons slou...@cox.net * -Original Message- From: Mathew Hodson Sent: Tuesday, September 02, 2014 8:39 AM To: slou...@cox.net Subject: [Bug 29566] Re: Missing firmware for bcm43xx/b43 driver during install ** Description changed: + There are instructions at + http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/b43#Ubuntu.2FDebian for how + to install this firmware. + On AMD64 using daily dapper 20050124. During the install the installer offers to configure the bcm43xx device on my laptop, but the search for wireless networks fails to find any networks. The message simply says no networks could be found, but investigation shows that the firmware for the device could not be loaded, because it is not available. Ideally the firmware should be included, but that is probably imposable because of licensing so the bcm43xx device should probably not be listed as a usable network device during the install. [Bug 1364725] [NEW] Krillin fails to display spinner/unity8 after upgrade to 1.11.7-0ubuntu1
Public bug reported: I noticed that after mako's version 213 of ubuntu touch (http://people.canonical.com/~ogra/touch-image-stats/213.changes), the display started failing quite frequently when using it with krillin (rtm is fine though). ** Affects: lightdm (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1364725 Title: Krillin fails to display spinner/unity8 after upgrade to 1.11.7-0ubuntu1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/1364725/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
