[Bug 1334793] Re: PowerVM: ubuntu-14.04 stuck in ibm, client-architecture-support reboot loop

2014-09-02 Thread Ivan Warren
I can confirm this issue.

I have a S814 system running PowerVM and although the install completed,
I boot loop on the "Calling ibm,client-architecture-support..." message.

NOTE : I installed debian powerpc for a test - and also got this message
- and the partition rebooted - but only once - then all proceeded as
expected.

[Bug 1364778] [NEW] Z-Shell breaks im-config configuration scripts, making input method malfunction

2014-09-02 Thread Vdragon
Public bug reported:

I suddenly find out my Chinese input method failed to work properly
after I switched to KDM X display manager(or, the login screen). During
debugging I found that if I sourced the im-config XSession sourced
script manually with Zsh with debugging enabled it will prematurely jump
out of /usr/share/im-config/data/25_hime.rc 's logic, which eventually
wrongly set the environmental variables making the input method
malfunctions.

Although it seems to be KDM's bug that uses my default shell(Zsh) to run
the XSession script, it seems abnormal for Zsh to fail at that script
also, thus here's the bug report.

The /usr/share/im-config/data/25_hime.rc script on my system is
attached, and with the execution result of Zsh with debugging enabled.

2014-09-02 Thread Martin Pitt
Gunnar, "quite often" sounds worrysome -- this smells like a dpkg bug
then? Did you see more duplicates of this?

This is an utterly complex and probably brittle workaround. If we need
such a workaround, then the pre*inst* should call "dpkg -L "
(this needs to be generated by debian/rules), iterate over all entries,
and remove any which are a symlink. If it's a dpkg bug it would really
be better to fix it there (needs a reproducer then), if it's really a
hardware bug then no amount of software workarounds will help against
those :/. But if you see many duplicates, it's more likely a dpkg bug.

[Bug 1320995] Re: Error message after setting a non-standard display resolution in a virtual machine

2014-09-02 Thread Ermolin Ilya
In my case problems is with monitor for witch I create non standard
resolution due to limitations of HDMI interface - I need to drop
frequency to be able to use full resolution of monitor wia HDMI.

So I get non standard resolusion mode, witch is absent in moment of my
login.

I supose that there is workaround for this problem - we need to add
needed resolution in standard list for witch check is done... but I
don't know where to add such...

[Bug 1220146] Re: Need support for new Ralink Wifi card - Mediatek 7630 [14c3:7630]

2014-09-02 Thread Tobias Marczewski
I installed the driver from #161 on my wife's Asus Vivobook K551LN. Wifi
works, bluetooth doesn't. When wifi is enabled, however, CPU load of
ksoftirqd/2 ramps to 100% and stays there. I guess this is the CPU load
problem reported before.

[Bug 877715] Re: lots of errors in dmesg - 'Error attempting to write lower page'

2014-09-02 Thread john doe
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 870326 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/870326

This just happened to me as well. However, my rc = [-30]. It appeared
when suspending my laptop. Odd thing is that the screensaver still
works. I am using Ubuntu 14.04 on a 4,1 macbook. It had problems earlier
today when trying to wake it; I had to reboot it. I have both MacOSX and
Ubuntu on separate partitions while using rEFIt to chose between them.
The grub menu still pops up when choosing Linux.

[Bug 1364747] [NEW] /lib/udev/rules.d/40-usb-media-players.rules has udev syntax error: needs trailing newline

2014-09-02 Thread Anders Kaseorg
Public bug reported:

I’m seeing this error messages in my logs every few seconds:

systemd-udevd[416]: invalid key/value pair in file /lib/udev/rules.d/40
-usb-media-players.rules on line 26,starting at character 25 ('m')

The problem is that this file is missing a trailing newline, which is
considered by udev to be a syntax error. Adding a trailing newline makes
the message go away.

[Bug 1364742] [NEW] GOTO 'libgphoto2_usb_end' has no matching label in: '/lib/udev/rules.d/40-libgphoto2-6.rules'

2014-09-02 Thread Anders Kaseorg
Public bug reported:

systemd-udevd[416]: GOTO 'libgphoto2_usb_end' has no matching label in:
'/lib/udev/rules.d/40-libgphoto2-6.rules'

It’s true: the 40-libgphoto2-6.rules file distributed in libgphoto2-6
has a GOTO="libgphoto2_usb_end" that doesn’t match a label (there’s a
LABEL="libgphoto2_rules_end"). This is clearly a typo.

[Bug 1301557] Re: sudo not setting environment variables in /etc/environment

2014-09-02 Thread Dustin Oprea
This affects me as well.

@abone Yes, that's necessary. It doesn't matter where you put it in the
file, though. For example:

/etc/pam.d/sudo
=
auth required pam_env.so readenv=1 user_readenv=0
auth required pam_env.so readenv=1 envfile=/etc/default/locale
user_readenv=0

@include common-auth
@include common-account
@include common-session-noninteractive

session required pam_env.so readenv=1
=

[Bug 1364716] Re: grub menu show up everytime after the second time of fwts s4

2014-09-02 Thread Yung Shen
** Description changed:

-
  Description:
Grub menu will show up every resuming from hibernate after the second time of
fwts s4 test being tested.
Until reboot the system, every hibernation will see the grub menu

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Turn off your system first then turn it on
- 2. open a terminal and type this command: sudo fwts s4 -
+ 2. open a terminal and type this command: sudo fwts s4 -
  3. wait for the resume and rerun the command in step 2.

  Actual result:
  Grub menu shows up

  Expected result:
Resuming from hibernate directly into desktop
+
+
+ Additional information:
+ Verifying on the same system with rtcwake command also can reproduce this
issue,
+
+ but using pm-hibernate does not sight this situation.
+
+ so I'm assuming it's something wrong with rtc clock, and here is a
+ related bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/fwts/+bug/1333569

** Description changed:

I noticed that after mako's version 213 of ubuntu touch
  (http://people.canonical.com/~ogra/touch-image-stats/213.changes), the
display started failing quite frequently when using it with krillin (rtm
  is fine though).

Tracking down the changes, it seems that the lightdm update from
1.11.6-0ubuntu1 to 1.11.7-0ubuntu1 is the one causing the issue, as I
can get my display to work perfectly fine with latest image + lightdm
  1.11.6-0ubuntu1

The symptom is a bit weird though, as the display itself is on (with
proper brightness and so on), but nothing showing up on the screen (like
not being rendered for some reason). Display power off/on doesn't help,
and it seems Unity8 is running fine in the background.

When I get this issue, I'm also not able to see the ubuntu touch spinner
  before Unity8 is up.

One way to get a working display again is by restarting ligthdm by hand.
+
+ From time to time it also works fine, but it's harder to get into a
+ working state (without restarting lightdm by hand) than actually
+ reproducing the bug.

Subject: [Bug 29566] Re: Missing firmware for bcm43xx/b43 driver during
install

** Description changed:

+ There are instructions at
+ http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/b43#Ubuntu.2FDebian for how
+ to install this firmware.
+
On AMD64 using daily dapper 20050124.

During the install the installer offers to configure the bcm43xx device
on my laptop, but the search for wireless networks fails to find any
networks. The message simply says no networks could be found, but
investigation shows that the firmware for the device could not be
loaded, because it is not available.

Ideally the firmware should be included, but that is probably imposable
because of licensing so the bcm43xx device should probably not be listed
as a usable network device during the install. Just my $.02

[Bug 1364725] [NEW] Krillin fails to display spinner/unity8 after upgrade to 1.11.7-0ubuntu1

2014-09-02 Thread Ricardo Salveti
