[Bug 1370018] Re: igb driver does not initialize network cards - no link intel I210 rev03
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected trusty ** Description changed: Hi, our new server installed with ubuntu 14.04.1 lts updated to the latest upstream kernel (Ubuntu 3.13.0-35.62-generic 3.13.11.6), is equipped with two Intel Corporation I210 Gigabit Network Connection (rev 03) nics. The correct network driver is loaded, but the link to the network switch is not always (most of the times) established. Randomly one, two, all or none of the nics will have a network link established (means lights on the nic are dark). This happens with cold or soft boots. Attached you will find an apport-report from our system. We have compiled the latest intel igb-driver downloaded from the intel website (igb-5.2.9.4) and installed it manually in the system. # cp igb.ko /lib/modules/3.13.0-35-generic/kernel/drivers/net/ethernet/intel/igb/igb.ko # update-initramfs -c -k all !! Using the latest intel driver the problem seems to be solved !! [Bug 1370063] [NEW] webdav thumbnail large file freeze
Public bug reported: When viewing a webDAV mounted share in nautilus it will proceed to download all the files in order to generate thumbnails, including large files. This results in GB's of data being downloaded and freezes nautilus. This even happens if under Preferences > Preview a tick is placed at Local Files only and only files smaller than (<10MB). >From this I conclude that nautilus sees a remote webDAV share as local (or just doesn't check) and that it doesn't check file size (or only checks file size if it already has downloaded/cached the entire file). [Bug 1242847] Re: Kubuntu setup / install encryption keyfile creation failure when setting up luks
It's a GUI problem in Kubuntus Installer. Here is a workaround: 1) click the radiobutton for the guided install with encryption and enter your password. 2) select manual partitioning 3) create your /boot partition with your desired filesystem and a physical crypto volume. on which you create your root filesystem the password fields seem to be connected to the guided install but they are used globally. [Bug 1370059] [NEW] FFe: man-db 2.7.0
Public bug reported: I'm intending to release man-db 2.7.0 in a week or two, and would like it to be considered for utopic as well, principally due to the performance improvements listed at the end of the NEWS block which follows. The only reason for the minor version bump is the database format change due to my work on high-precision timestamps; otherwise I consider this incremental improvements, although not bug-fix-only. You can see the full list of changes here: http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/man-db.git/log/ man-db 2.7.0 Major changes since man-db 2.6.7.1: Upgrading from previous versions: - For the first time since version 2.4.0, the database format has changed slightly, so you will need to run 'mandb --create' after installing the new version to rebuild your databases from scratch. (Distribution packages should do this automatically for system databases.) Fixes: -- o lexgrog now filters terminal escape sequences out of cat pages before trying to parse them. o Tools that consider the terminal line length now prioritise the COLUMNS environment variable above the TIOCGWINSZ ioctl. Improvements: - o Ship a systemd tmpfiles snippet to clean up old cat files after a week. o The modification time of manual databases is now simply stored in the mtime of the database files themselves, rather than using a special row. This makes databases reproducible between otherwise-identical installations, as long as the underlying database has predictable behaviour. As a bonus, man-db now uses high-precision timestamps to determine whether it needs to update databases. o Timestamps of manual pages are also now stored in the database with high precision and compared accordingly. o Files are now ordered by first physical extent before reading them, for substantial performance improvements in operations such as mandb and 'man -K'. ** Affects: man-db (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1370059 Title: FFe: man-db 2.7.0 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/man-db/+bug/1370059/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Confirmed - thanks! ** Description changed: Actually, there are a couple of problems here: 1) If you "reverse pinch" to zoom into an image, this appears to trigger "zoom to maximum size" (aka double-tap). [Bug 1368336] Re: [Dash] [design] Scopes should have a pull-to-refresh functionality
Function: Refreshes the content of the scope/feed (checks for new content & updates scope/feed content as required when new content is available) User input & visual feedback: 1. Beginning the swipe-down should reveal an expanded Suru bar area (beneath the pagination markers for scopes/feeds that are part of the Dash) as per current build. Newly revealed expanded Suru bar area should contain the instruction - "Pull down to refresh". 2.At the limit of the down-swipe (before swipe reaches bottom edge of display area and when the 'hidden' portion of the Suru bar beneath the pagination markers is entirely revealed), instruction text should change to read- "Release to refresh". (Allowing the user to reverse the swipe direction in order to abandon the action before refreshing) 3. On releasing, instruction text should be replaced with an activity indicator which animates while the scope/feed source is polled. (Activity indicator can be seen on Page 28, Section 10.2 of the U.I components doc found here: https://docs.google.com/a/canonical.com/document/d/1nFm8xiYhKXXuEO_IvMXoD0lASbYzYXva1BWMVanU3iw/edit?pli=1#) 4. Expanded Suru bar remains partially open while source is polled and activity indicator animation plays, when polling is complete then either: - New content is available, the scope/feed is updated with new content and the Suru bar collapses to its original size. - No new content is available, the Suru bar collapses to its original size and scope/feed remains unchanged. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1368336 Title: [Dash] [design] Scopes should have a pull-to-refresh functionality To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-ux/+bug/1368336/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1304001] Re: xen:balloon errors in 14.04 beta
I had this problem on a PC with Xen and Linux VMs. The VMs are configured to boot with just 400 MB of RAM allotted to them and up to 8GB max RAM. I was never able to get above some 4.3GB in any VM, and log showed the "reserve_additional_memory: add_memory() failed: -17" message at that point The SOLUTION that fixes it was proposed at qubes-devel mailing list (Qubes is a Xen+Linux distro for ultra-secure PCs): https://groups.google.com/d/msg/qubes-devel/VRqkFj1IOtA/UgMgnwfxVSIJ As proposed there: if I set initial RAM to 800MB and max ram scales above 4.3GB (actually tested to up to 11GB), without any "add_memory() failed" messages. The explanation given is that the VM's kernel allocates its memory related structures at boot time and the memory available at that time limits the max memory it may scale up to. When that happens, it starts throwing the balloon error messages. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1304001 Title: xen:balloon errors in 14.04 beta To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1304001/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1370049] [NEW] mongodb build disables scripting instead of using libmozjs
Public bug reported: I'm unsure why disabling scripting was chosen in favor of using SpiderMonkey (usesm). I can understand that maybe some architectures have no java scripting engine, but the patch (0001-Add-option-to- disable-javascript.patch) removes the option to use SpiderMonkey altogether. I think the patch in question needs to be rewritten so that some architectures can usesm (e.g. powerpc) and others can disable scripting altogether (arm64). ** Affects: mongodb (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1370049 Title: mongodb build disables scripting instead of using libmozjs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mongodb/+bug/1370049/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1370045] [NEW] Erase button is not enabled after an error occured during erase operation
Public bug reported: How to reproduce: 1) Plug a USB flash to be erased and live image installed onto. 2) Select "Startup Disk Creator" in the Dash. Case 1: 3) Select your flash to be erased in the list, click Erase button and then Yes. 4) When password prompt pops up, click Cancel. Case 2: 3) Open terminal and `cd` to your flash mount point, so it cannot be immediately unmounted. 4) Select your flash to be erased in the list, click Erase button and then Yes. 5) Enter your password and press Authenticate button. What happens: Message box with an error information pops up (see attachments). After I click OK the Erase button stays gray and indicator stays spinning on it. What is expected: After Erase operation fail the UI should allow user to click on Erase button again if appropriate (I am not sure if every exception actually aborts the erase operation). It would be good if a "human readable" explanation of the error such as "Cannot erase: not authorized" or "Cannot erase: the disk is busy" will be shown with details hidden by default. Note: This bug is reproducible on Ubuntu 14.04.1 as well. [Bug 1368826] [NEW] [Launcher] Remove the recent apps from the launcher
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Recent apps live and can be accessed already via right edge. Them appearing in the Launcher is duplication. Also mixing recent apps with favourite ones is a concept that users has difficulties to grasp. Launcher should only contained pinned apps, any apps that are asking for attention, and the currently focused app. The currently focused app should always be at the top. Any apps that are asking for attention should be positioned below the currently focused app and above the pinned apps, and when the user focuses an app that is asking for attention (via any method) this app should be removed from the launcher. The currently focused app should have a "Add to launcher" option in it's quicklist Proper design is still missing. ** Affects: ubuntu-ux Importance: Medium Assignee: Vesa Rautiainen (vesar) Status: Triaged ** Affects: unity8 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: rtm-14 -- [Launcher] Remove the recent apps from the launcher https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1368826 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1368831] [NEW] [Launcher] Change pin/un-pin terminology to Add/Remove
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Change the "pin/un-pin" terminology to "Add to Launcher" or "Remove from Launcher". Remove all traces of the word "Pin". This was the original terminology but since it caused confusion with the recent applications in launcher. That's because a favourite app that was recent wasn't really removed from the launcher but unfavourited/unpinned when "Remove from Launcher" was selected. As we now propose getting rid of recent apps from the launcher (bug 1368826) we should move back using Add/Remove terminology which is easier to understand than pin/un-pin. ** Affects: ubuntu-ux Importance: Medium Status: Triaged ** Affects: unity8 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: rtm-14 -- [Launcher] Change pin/un-pin terminology to Add/Remove https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1368831 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1335014] Re: RT2500pci Regression
I was recently trying to bring an old laptop back to life. It contained a MiniPCI Ralink RT2500. It had Maverick installed and the wireless worked. I then started trying to install Trusty 14.04 on it. The wireless was constantly disabled in live CDs and I tried a bunch of workarounds that failed. I finally found the linux kernel bug report that was linked in this bug report and found that it was implemented in kernel 3.14.18 (just recently). So my workaround that finally fixed the issue was to install the 3.14.18 utopic kernel from here: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.14.18-utopic/ Specifically for me it was the i386 debs: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.14.18-utopic/linux-headers-3.14.18-031418_3.14.18-031418.201409060201_all.deb http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.14.18-utopic/linux-headers-3.14.18-031418-generic_3.14.18-031418.201409060201_i386.deb http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.14.18-utopic/linux-image-3.14.18-031418-generic_3.14.18-031418.201409060201_i386.deb It would be much better from a long term standpoint if these changes were backported to 3.13 and put into the longterm kernel of trusty. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1369971/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.
