[Bug 1381475] Re: Firewire sound card registered by the name of the fw controller

2014-10-16 Thread Andras Muranyi
 which name do you want
when you plug and unplug the device ?

Based on how other cards are named (see previous attachment Firewire sound
card listed in Sound Settings) there sould be a short description of the
output, followed by the short name of the card. For example:
10 Channels *
PHASE 88 **

* Please note that the 10 output channels are, in this case, 8 Analog
and 2 Digital (the same applies to Input channels). As far as I can see,
normally the 8 Channels Analog Output and the Digital Output
(S/PDIF) would be displayed as two separate options in Sound Settings -
I guess this is beyond the scope of the current issue and I shall file a
new bug.

** or PHASE 88 Rack FW

[Bug 1382013] [NEW] [needs-packaging] puredata and pd-extended

2014-10-16 Thread Pander
Public bug reported:

name: puredata and pd-extended

description: Pure Data (aka Pd) is an open source visual programming
language. Pd enables musicians, visual artists, performers, researchers,
and developers to create software graphically, without writing lines of
code. Pd is used to process and generate sound, video, 2D/3D graphics,
and interface sensors, input devices, and MIDI. Pd can easily work over
local and remote networks to integrate wearable technology, motor
systems, lighting rigs, and other equipment. Pd is suitable for learning
basic multimedia processing and visual programming methods as well as
for realizing complex systems for large-scale projects.

license: BSD

Why i can't find this answer before ? Why it's not write in the man ?

It was very difficult to find why its not working...

But thank you and sorry for the bad report ;)

Have a nice day.

It's not a bug. Due to licensing issues with the Clamav unrar detection

   I use the command : clamscan --block-encrypted test.zip test.rar

[Bug 1147696] Re: Spamassassin crashes on one particular mail message

2014-10-16 Thread tom
Hi all,

I was hitted by the same problem on the same Ubuntu version 12.04

However I found a better upstream bug to explain it:

https://issues.apache.org/SpamAssassin/show_bug.cgi?id=6745

so it seems that the problem has been fixed on version 3.4 but
Ubuntu 12.04 is running spamassassin 3.3..

[Bug 1382034] [NEW] FFe: Sync modem-manager-gui 0.0.17.1-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2014-10-16 Thread Graham Inggs
Public bug reported:

Please sync modem-manager-gui 0.0.17.1-1 (universe) from Debian unstable
(main)

Explanation of FeatureFreeze exception:
I'd like to get this updated version of modem-manager-gui, which now includes a
debug package, into the archive.
It should assist with diagnosing crashes such as in LP: #1351814 and Debian bug
#764693. In fact, they might not even occur in this updated version. I missed
a license in d/copyright (see Debian bug #765574) so I will be uploading
0.0.17.1-2 soon, and that will be the version I would like to sync. I just
wanted to start the FFe process as soon as possible.

Changelog entries since current utopic version 0.0.16-3:

modem-manager-gui (0.0.17.1-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  [ Graham Inggs ]
  * New upstream release.
  * Update d/patches:
- drop patches included upstream
- update fix-hyphen-used-as-minus-sign.patch
- new missing-ofono-pkg-config.patch
  * Update d/control:
- add Build-Depends, Depends and Recommends for new functionality
- new package descriptions to make Lintian happy
- bump Standards-Version to 3.9.6 (no changes)
  * Update d/copyright:
- update copyright years to 2014
- use updated GPL-3.0+ template
- fix typo: messages-*.png instead of message-*.png
  * Update Lintian spelling-error-in-binary override.

  [ Marius B. Kotsbak ]
  * Add debug symbols package (Closes: #756936).

[Bug 1380146] Re: problema de pré-dependência - a não instalar ntfs-3g

2014-10-16 Thread Seth Arnold
Thank you for using Ubuntu and taking the time to report a bug. Your
report should contain, at a minimum, the following information so we can
better find the source of the bug and work to resolve it.

Submitting the bug about the proper source package is essential. For
help see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . Additionally,
in the report please include:

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'cat /etc/lsb-release' or System -
About Ubuntu.
2) The version of the package you are using, via 'dpkg -l PKGNAME | cat' or by
checking in Synaptic.
3) What happened and what you expected to happen.

The Ubuntu community has also created debugging procedures for a wide
variety of packages at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures .
Following the debugging instructions for the affected package will make
your bug report much more complete. Thanks!

2014-10-16 Thread Seth Arnold
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1380611] Re: weather applet crashes on logout

Thanks!

[Bug 1349768] Re: kernel 3.13.0-32 ipvs IPv6 header not found related to UDP socket sendto() EPERM errors

2014-10-16 Thread Tero Marttila
Yes, I can confirm that the trusty-proposed 3.13.0-38 kernel resolves
this issue. The dnsmasq-tftp transfer succeeds in my test environment
without any of the symptoms that were present with the trusty-

regressions in my (IPv4) ipvs ruleset.

[Bug 1382046] [NEW] libvirt-bin unaware of uids on LDAP when started via systemd

2014-10-16 Thread Harald Hannelius
Public bug reported:

I was unable to connect to libvirtd from my regular user account after
upgrading to Utopic Unicorn.

The error from 'virsh list' was something about that libvirtd couldn't
resolve my uid. failed to find user record for uid I think.

Since I have all non-system users on LDAP remotely, I suspect that
systemd and/or libvirtd was unable to a resolve my uid upon startup and
didn't bother to check again.

It might be a bug in libvirt-bin as well. I don't know.

Tempfix: 'service libvirt-bin restart' and one should be able to connect
again.

[Bug 902714] Re: ubuntu-bug can't always report bugs against no particular package

2014-10-16 Thread LukeKendall
This one, the bug 'ubuntu-bug can't always report bugs against no
particular package',
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/902714.
Unfortunately, no mention of an ID for the above transferred apparently
to apport appears in the above note by micahg in 2011, so I can't follow
up to see what actions occurred in the intervening years.

Since the same problem happened to me yesterday with Ubuntu 14.04, I saw
that the error in the documentation remains or else in ubuntu-bug, as
once again I tried to follow the instructions at
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs:

Filing a general bug against no particular package

If you’re not sure which package is affected by the bug, type ubuntu-bug
in the “Run Command” screen and press Enter. This will guide you through
a series of questions to gather more information about the bug and help
you assign it to the appropriate package.

However, if you do try this, and then select the category Other in the
first panel, ubuntu-bug just pops up a warning that you must specify a
particular package, and exits. This contradicts the topic itself:
Filing a general bug against no particular package.

In my case I was trying to report a problem in the printing area when I
discovered this problem of reporting bugs of uncertain origin was
unchanged.

[Bug 1381564] Re: pyparsing ParseResults.pop() fails with NameError: global name 'index' is not defined

2014-10-16 Thread Barry Warsaw
Should be relatively straightforward to update Debian to the latest and
then sync to Utopic. I'll start looking at that. If it's a pure bug
fix release, it won't require an FFE, but it will require approval by
the release team, since final freeze is today.

[Bug 1382055] [NEW] optimus stopped working when gpu-manager was introduced?

2014-10-16 Thread Bontius
Public bug reported:

I had a working system a month ago, with a lucky xorg.conf that allowed the
unity desktop to use gdm as window manager, and the mini-displayport to work
(wired to the nvidia card).
I hadn't updated for a month (mid-August 2014), because it was a production
system, and then on 21 Sep 2014, after a full update and restart, gdm only
worked on the built-in screen again, only with the intel card. Nvidia-settings
suddenly is much smaller, and has a switch option, that does not work (gives an
empty warning box as response, if I try to switch to nvidia from intel).

- The result of prime-switch nvidia is Segmentation fault,
- The gpu manager log says Has nvidia? no,
- Xorg.0.log says Failed to load module nvidia (module does not exist, 0)

- sudo modprobe nvidia finishes without error, only, because I added the
line

alias nvidia nvidia-331
to
/etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-331_hybrid.conf

- The command: sudo prime-select nvidia
Error: alternatives are not set up properly
Error: nvidia mode can't be enabled

lspci output:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 4th Gen Core Processor
Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 06) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK106M [GeForce GTX 770M]
(rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])

- the xorg.conf is constantly deleted, which is annoying, I had a nice working
version earlier
- the best kernel option, that used to work was nvidia.modeset=1, I tried
nomodeset and nothing, but none of them help

I'd appreciate some help here, even if it's a revert, I just need to
continue work as quickly as possible.

Thanks,
Best,
Aron

[Bug 1381181] Re: samba_2%3a3.6.3-2ubuntu2.11_amd64.deb E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

[Bug 1382054] [NEW] Add support for configuring VLAN interfaces in the initrd

2014-10-16 Thread Jorge Niedbalski
Public bug reported:

It would be helpful to be able to create VLAN network interfaces in initrd
images provided
by Ubuntu, based on kernel command line parameters. (i.e. VLAN=eth0.100, )

Some use cases for this feature addition are MAAS users trying to boot machines
using a specific VLAN interface.

On a specific case we have 2 physical network interfaces, one is plugged into a
specific VLAN interface,
Since we can specify the network interface on BIOS, the initial PXE boot
occurs, but
then the installation fails when using the fast-path installer because the
specific VLAN is not configured on the ram disk.

While we can use the other network interface because is a trunk interface that
allows us to use
several VLANs, this is not supported on all the network architectures and some
security limitations doesn't allows this method.

Reference Redhat implementation can be found here:

Reference Suse implementation can be found here:

mkinitrd/commit/6124f87f3132b6369c0335c319832619a49d0bf7

The command line syntax for this could be something like, similar to
Redhat implementation

vlan=vlanname:phydevice

For an example:

vlan=eth0.2:eth0

Right, by the first look it sounds like libvirt's unit starts up before

That description is a bit vague. Maybe for someone familiar with libvirt
it's enough, but can you please precisely describe the steps that you
did and the output? Thanks!

Confirming, that is with init=/bin/systemd or systemd-sysv, not with
booting with upstart (the only supported init system in Ubuntu right
now)?

I'm quite sure this is due to the 'unix' apparmor denials.

You should be able to workaround this by adding the following to
/etc/apaprmor.d/local/usr.sbin.cupsd:
  unix peer=/usr/sbin/cupsd//third_party,

[Bug 1381863] Re: File name beginning with a dash used as program argument

2014-10-16 Thread Seth Arnold
This is working as expected.

Some people even stick files named e.g. --interactive into their
directories to use this as some kind of defense against accidental
deletion.

Most programs provide a -- command line option that says further
arguments should be interpreted as files. But this kind of surprising
experience is inevitable in operating systems that don't formalize
command options separately from file arguments.

[Bug 1381750] Re: ubuntu store should warn user when there is no network

2014-10-16 Thread Rodney Dawes
This is a general design issue for all scopes, so we need a standard
solution across all the scopes which need network. A similar issue
happens in other scopes, when the search privacy setting is phone
only. Given how scopes work now, the setting is probably not so
relevant.

[Bug 1382057] [NEW] Uodates suddenly not downloading and installing

2014-10-16 Thread I. Langenhuijsen
Public bug reported:

After a dozen of earlier updates inside system of Ubuntu Phone on Nexus 4 I
suddenly discovered that my device is not updating anymore. It's still telling
me that there are updates (it started with 2 new updates waiting a week ago and
now already 19 waiting).
So Wifi and internet connections work fine.

Output of sudo apt-get update:

some repeating messages like:

W: Ophalen van http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-
ports/dists/utopic/restricted/binary-armhf/Packages is mislukt 404 Not
Found [IP: 91.189.88.140 80]

and then once:

E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones
used instead.
W: Er wordt geen vergrendeling gebruikt voor het
alleen-lezen-vergrendelingsbestand /var/lib/dpkg/lock

Any help?
